THE BK CHRONICLES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much fish after having some chocolate cream pie and taking pill three because I, BK, forgot to bring the pill with me to dinner. I have to get used to this pill business, for sure. In any case, but especially this case, I must get down to brass tacks and write these here notes, which I have purposely not begun because at 10:45 we were still on page four, and that was simply unacceptable. Then we got to the top of page five and I alerted the media that we would take our damn sweet time about posting the notes and so I took my damn sweet time about posting the notes as you can plainly see since it is currently 1:15 and I have just begun them and my goodness I do believe this has turned into one of those pesky run-on sentences that never end but I’m ending it right the HELL now. Whew. So, let us recap quickly the day known as yester. I was up at seven-fifteen to have the English muffin and jam and pill one. Then I went back to bed and slept until eleven, so I do think I got eight hours of non-consecutive sleep. I got up and had a nice telephonic conversation, then answered a slew of e-mails. Then I did a little organizing, after which I had a few biscotti and pill two. My intention was to take pill three with dinner at five-thirty. But sometimes the best of intentions go the way of the dodo bird and this was no exception, as I forgot to bring the pill with me. But I’m getting ahead of myself. I relaxed for a bit, then shaved and showered and them moseyed on over to the mail place and picked up the second important envelope. Then I went to the Coral Café, where I joined Doug Haverty. I was either going to have a patty melt with fries or a country fried steak, but they had some specials, one of which sounded good to me – an Eyetalian sandwich – ham, salami, red onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and Eyetalian dressing on a warm roll. I went with that choice. It arrived and there was simply no human way to pick the sandwich up and eat it like a sandwich. Not doable. So, I ate all the innards and only ended up having one bite of the bread – well, a lot less calories that way, but I made up for it with the french fries and they have GREAT fries there and very good ranch dressing. We chatted about this and that, then I got a slice of chocolate cream pie to have when I got home because I would have to take pill three with food. Then I moseyed on over to the Group Rep to see their current play, The Heidi Chronicles, a play that I knew nothing at all about, which is wacky, I know. In fact, the only Wendy Wasserstein play I’ve ever seen was The Sisters Rosensweig on Broadway. All I really remember about it was thinking it was enjoyable but not a great play, but which had a great cast, which included Jane Alexander, Madeline Kahn, Robert Klein, John Cunningham, and others. I found The Heidi Chronicles to be a lovely play, but a tricky one to pull off. Anyway, I did enjoy the play, and everyone did a good job of it. It was a bit long at two and a half hours, but that’s all in the pacing.

After the play, I and my pie came right home, hunkered down and had the pie, which was good but a bit TOO sweet for the likes of me, then I caught up on e-mails and took my own sweet time about writing these here notes for the reasons explained.

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, and I will have me a ME day for sure. I’ll do ME things, I’ll relax, I’ll take three pills over the course of the day and evening, I may make some Wacky Noodles, or I have a 40% delivery coupon so I may get something fun from somewhere fun. But mostly I’ll watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow, I’ll e-mail my gal at the publisher and have her push whoever deals with Amazon so they can get the eBook joined to the hard and softcover so that the reviews show up. That should have happened when they joined the hard and softcover so I just want to make sure it happens on Monday. Mostly, I’m going to try and figure out where to do a launch party for the book and figure out how to get some fun celebs there like we have for other events of that nature. I have three choices about where to do it, so I just have to check on cost. I also want a piano there so I can have some of our Kritzerland regulars there to sing a few songs, and then we’ll have both the new book and the Disney-related Thrill Ride for sale, and I’ll sign, of course. I think we’d sell enough books there to cover the cost of whichever venue we choose. The rest of the week will be cleaning off the computer table so we can be ready for the arrival of the Mac Mini on Thursday. The monitor is already here, and I’ll probably unbox that and have it ready. It’s a two-wire deal – the power cord and the cord from the Mac Mini to the monitor. That’s it. Then the fellow in the back house will help me set it up, turn it on, and begin the migration from the hard drive back-up to the Mac Mini. I’m hoping because we’re using a Thuderbolt cable that it will go pretty quickly. Then all I’ll have to do is download Microsoft Office again – because that doesn’t port over. Once that’s on the new computer all my documents will then work. It’s very exciting. I’m told the monitor has great sound – if that’s the case, I won’t need my external speakers at all, but if I’m not thrilled with it, then the externals it will be, only not hard-wired into the computer but via blue tooth. I will leave the back-up drive plugged in and use as the Time Machine back-up, so that we’re always protected. I’ll also plug in the two other drives that I use frequently or maybe I won’t.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, have me a ME day, take pills, eat, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have finally acquainted myself with The Heidi Chronicles and written about it in The BK Chronicles.
