Well, dear readers, let me tell you a little story:
There once was a fish named Fowl,
Who thought of himself as an owl,
And there once was an owl named Fish,
Who had only one little wish,
And the wish was that Fish would call foul on the fish,
I mean foul on the Fowl, yes, the fish not the owl,
And I wish that they’d all simply throw in the towel.
That was a fine story, wasn’t it? I have no idea what the HELL I’m talking about and that doesn’t bode well for the rest of these here notes, and we need all the good bodes we can get. But enough story time, let’s talk about yesterday so that we can get to today. Yesterday wasn’t much of a day. I only got six hours of sleep, got up, got dressed, and then she of the Evil Eye arrived and I went and had breakfast with Robert Yacko. That was fun, and then I paid a visit to a new Studio City bookstore called The Last Bookstore – it’s a second location for the very famous bookstore downtown. It’s very spacious, and the prices are very low for the used books, most of which are in very good condition. I don’t have the patience I once had whilst perusing books, so I was there for about forty minutes and that’s all I could take. But it’s lovely to have a bookstore that’s not a big chain. After that, I came right home, answered a bunch of e-mails, was happy to see another review for the new book, but unhappy that Amazon STILL hasn’t fixed the issue and today I will have my gal take off the gloves and get tough about it. At around four, I had a pulled pork sandwich – they didn’t put coleslaw on it and it really needed it – not bad, but just too much of one thing and way too filling. I’m still full from it. Then I sat on my couch like so much fish and watched a couple of true crime YouTube videos. Then I dozed off for a bit, then watched a TV movie from 1971 entitled Mongo’s Back in Town – no, not Mongo from Blazing Saddles, which hadn’t been made yet, this Mongo being a hit man, played by Joe Don Baker. The stars were Telly Savalas – it almost seemed like he was doing a dry run for what would become Kojak. Martin Sheen also starred, along with the post-Flying Nun, Sally Field. It was very convoluted, I never knew who wanted to do what to whom, and then it ended. Telly and Sally were tops, though. It was based on a book by a career criminal and convicted murderer who spent most of his life in jail but managed to write and publish ten books.
After that, I did a little organizing and here we are.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll have my muffin and pill, then I have a work session for an hour or two, and according to UPS, the Mac Mini should arrive by 3:00. We’ll see if that’s so, but if it isn’t, then I suspect it will be tomorrow. I have a dinner to go to at seven, so if the back house guy is here when it arrives, then I’m hoping we can at least get the ball rolling and then finish up when I get home. I’m really hoping it arrives and hoping we can get it up and running so I can write these here notes from the new computer.
Tomorrow will be a day I’ll spend getting to know the new computer. I’m about four operating systems behind and I’m sure there’s lots of spiffy new things to try. Then I hope to have a restful weekend
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, have my muffin and pill, have a work session, hopefully get the Amazon issue fixed, hope the new Mac Mini arrives, hope we can set it up easily and get it running and most importantly get Microsoft Office downloaded and making sure it works, which it should. I have a dinner at seven, and if we haven’t finished by then, I’m hoping we can finish when I return. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall dream of more stories of fishes named Fowl and owls named fish.
