Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much fish, listening to some John Williams, namely his great score to The Towering Inferno. There was a time, oh, yes, there was a time when I began every morning listening to this album – for some reason I thought it would bring me luck – I mean, this went on for a solid year. I never got tired of it either. And listening to it now, I still am not tired of it. In fact, it just makes me want to watch the movie again and maybe I shall. Otherwise, yesterday was a perfectly okay day. I got ten and a half hours of very needed sleep, got up groggy as all get out, and I think we all know how groggy all get out is, and was happy to see that I could finally do my banking, so I had some biscotti, took pill one, got dressed, then moseyed on over to the bank, where only one teller was working – the two people in front of me got so irritated that they left. It took about ten minutes to finally get to a teller, when a second one finally arrived. I did what I had to do, the moseyed on over to the mail place and picked up three packages, then came right home. I was really hungry, so I ordered Panda Express – one plate version – and that did not arrive as quickly as usual but finally did show up. Food was good. Not enough time had gone by to take pill two, so a bit later I had some chocolate licorice and then took pill two. I’ll take pill three before bed. As an aside, I still wish they wrote film scores like this, but I’m afraid those days are done until someone finally does one and the film becomes a mega-hit and then that’s all we’ll get for the next twenty years. It will happen – it always happens. It’s just a question of when. At around six, I sat on my couch like so much fish, turned on the TV and went out like a light for two hours. It seemed like I woke up every two minutes, then went back to the exact place I’d left off in whatever dream I was having – so maybe I didn’t wake up, maybe I was just in some weird dream state. Oh, and prior to that I’d done about twenty-five pages of the manuscript fixing, so about eighty more pages to go and I’ll definitely for sure absolutely finish those today or my name isn’t Guy Haines. Oh, wait. When I finally woke up, I watched a forty-minute true crime YouTube video that was interesting, then I finished watching the documentary about all the deaths associated with the filming of The Conqueror, which filmed not that far from one of the atom bomb testing grounds – tests that went on in several different locations for YEARS. The government covered up that they knew fallout was dangerous but felt the tests had to continue. That coverup lasted until the early 1990s when at least some accountability came – of course, too late for all the people both on that film and who lived near that location. Government coverups seem to have run rampant across all decades, including right this very minute. Anyway, it actually made me want to watch this horrible movie again, but who knows which box the DVD is hiding in? And then it was time to write these here notes.
Today, I’ll be up by eleven at the latest, and then the assemblers are supposed to arrive at noon-thirty to assemble the barstools. That will be great. Supposedly I’ll get a text or e-mail when they’re on their way. If I don’t have it by eleven, I’ll call Wayfair so they can check on it. I’ll finish up the fixing of the manuscript, then will probably breeze through to fix any egregious punctuation, spelling errors, missing accent marks, and stuff like that. I’ve already done quite a bit of that. I’ll eat something fun, continue the Flonase treatment and the pills, and then at some point I’ll watch, listen, and relax.
Tomorrow and the weekend are unknown at this time, and then next week will be busy. I forgot to mention that they opened a Capitol Grill here in Toluca Lake, in a site where no other restaurant, and there’ve been five, has succeeded. I ate at one in Washington, D.C. – very pricey, but really great. I’ll have to try this one at some point.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eleven at the latest, hopefully the assemblers will be here on time at noon-thirty, I’ll finish up fixing the manuscript and fix other stuff, eat, Flonase, do pills, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What is the priciest restaurant you’ve ever eaten at, what did you have, and what was the total bill? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall once again be in a dream state and hopefully the dreams will be nice.
