Well, you've read the notes, the notes brought it on, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're bringing it on right now, then they'll think about coming home.
-
And the word of the day is: DRAWCANSIR!
-
Will we never get to page two?
-
I shall be going to bed in about ten count them ten minutes.

Time will tell :)

Glad to hear that the strike got resolved...
They were getting cold outside in the parkas and picket signs. ;)

DVD: Soapdish
VCR: a UVHST aka an unidentified tape that lost is postie note and I dont have a clue what is on it
CD: Celtic Christmas, Sweeney Todd
-
no porn.... could be a soap tape or an old tape of some movie or tv show. I had it in storage at my parents and I never labeled it... This could be interesting....
I brought a box of tapes back my storage to be gone through that I had in storage and there are several in the box that are mysterious...
-
I am hoping one soap tape is there.....
Jack and Jennifer's wedding....
-
Or a couple of documentaries....
-
Have no idea why I taped Red October twice....
-
Bruce what do you think of hte movie version of Sweeney Todd coming out?
-
Will wonders never cease?? Last night's preview performance started at about 8:00 and ended at 10:32!! We cut about 17 minutes off the time from last night and we didn't (officially) cut any dialogue! As far as I know, there weren't any major goofs. We had almost a full audience and they loved it! The energy and pacing were sustained throughout the whole performance. A good time was had by all. ;D
Now...all we have to do is keep this up for all three weekends. :)

Good morning, all! I have a day crammed with incident and a harp part for the delightful Karen Lindquist to be finished: this morning my neighbor, who needed to rent a car yesterday, and I are taking many cartons of discarded books, videos, CDs, etc. down to the Gay & Lesbian Community Center for donation. We cold have taken them around the corner to the local NYPL branch, but it's closed for renovation so the Center on 13th Street gets the bundle. After that, my drummer friend Dan is coming by to pick up the finished band parts for next Wednesday's rehearsal, and then I have my yearly physical and flu shot. In between this excitement, I shall continue to grind out this harp part, which is the biggest part of this piece I'm scoring. I hope to have it finished for Karen by Sunday.
TOD:
DVD: I rented BROTHERS & SISTERS SEason 1 from Netflix
CD: Victoria (ugh) Clark's "Fifteen Seconds of Fame," The Music of Scott Alan, a lot of Christmas CDs

I enjoyed the "rotting flesh and jazz hands"! LOL! Looks like a lot of fun and a nice excape from all the seasonal theatre fare!

I just broke out the Arthur Fiedler Broadway CD. I bought it in deperation for a porject a few years ago but never ended up listening to it and almost traded it. I'm listening to "Aquarius"---sounds more like the score from "How the West Was Won!"
-
Nice clip, DR GEORGE.
DR EDISAURUS thanks for the info about the film. Hmmmmm that means that Judy's work on VALLEY OF THE DOLLS was processed just not used and sat somewhere until it was destroyed.

Work today.

I wonder if any DR's can help me? I am finishing the Johnny Mercer demo I'm taking out to LA next week. We're showing it to the guy who may potentially end up directing the doc and I'm sure I will be nixed as editor since I am geographically undesireable, but I want to at least make this demo look good.
So I wonder if any DR's have the sheet music to "Laura"? I specifically need the page with the music and lyrics: "Footsteps that you hear down the hall The laugh that floats on a summer night That you can never quite recall".
If anyone has it and could be so kind as to scan it at a good res and email it to me, I would be so very grateful. The producer promised to do this over a month ago---it's the only thing I asked for---and now time is running out.
If anyone can help, PM me and I'll send you my email if you don't already have it.
Thanks!
-
I don't have that, DR EDISAURUS, but I am sure someone does!
-
Off to work.
-
I have to go to a funeral today for the sister of a good friend. She died unexpectedly Thanksgiving night, after they all had dinner together. I haven't seen my friend in awhile---she broke up with her girlfriend for another woman, so I've been spending time trying to cheer up the ex girlfriend. I haven't seen my friend since they broke up even though she has wanted to get together and have me meet her new love, so it will be awkward but I want to be there anyway, to support her.
Her sister had 3 kids, one of whom we brought in as an intern on the last feature I cut. They have had a tough time; she has had addiction problems for a long time, but this took everyone by surprise.
-
DR Laura---do you know the name of that red passion flower you posted the other day? Is that part of your butterfly garden?
-
I tried to harvest seeds from my passiflora lutea for you (little creamy-white delicate passion flower) but the pods all fell off with the rain and I couldn't find any of them!
-
It was just called a red passion flower. I'll see if there are any seed pods over the next few weeks.
-
I'm up. I slept until 7:10am which is late for me. Work is a distant memory already ;) I had a nice bowl of oatmeal with orange flavored cranberries and organic banana chips (from Trader Joe's). We are getting ready for the annual volunteer marathon. We begin today unloading the truck with the major gifts (sweaters, gloves, scarves, hats and socks) and we have to set up the room so that Monday when everyone else comes we will be ready to jump in and make gift bags.
I won't be around much during the week. I'll be at the Equity office with no computer access. Unfortunately I won't be running into Jose since there are usually no auditions schedueled at Equity during this time. His auditions will probably be at Ripley-Grier or Chelsea Studios (or even perhaps Nola Studios).
See you all around the campfire tonight.
-
The butterflies are leaving the red passion vine alone and are laying eggs on the other ones. One is heavily eaten, and one was completely eaten.
-
DR Edisaurus - Congratulations on finishing your project. When do you and DH Greg depart for CA?
Oh, and you can print your own copy of "Laura" for a nominal fee HERE (http://www.sheetmusicdirect.us/search/productDetail.do?itemId=1000001490).
-
DR Edisaurus - ps, sorry to hear about your friend's sister. My condolences to all.

Friday morning greetings!
Oh, my, it's one of those days - we're very short-handed and I've been drafted for a couple of hours of information-waitressing

DR George:
***MAJOR OPENING-NIGHT VIBAGE***
and BREAK A LEG!!!
Even though it explains in that article you posted, I really can't figure the minds that schedule things like your show and the new film of Sweeney Todd as holiday fare!!! :-\
-
DR JoseSPiano, thanks for posting DR Jason's performance schedule.
-
DR Edi - sorry to hear about your friend's sister.
So, will the link that DR Singdaw provided meet your sheet music needs? I'm looking right now at 2 different versions of "Laura" and could try to talk my friend in the local history room into teaching me how to scan & email.
Just an FYI for folks looking for such items - don't forget your public library! Generally, the "main" locations of big systems have extensive sheet music collections.

Another Kip?

The book delivery was amazingly smooth: the car was loaded with about 10 cartons of items by 8:20, we were at the Center by 8:45, and the building super let us in, lents us a dolly to tote the cartons and opened the library. We were finished by 8:55 and the building didn't officially open till 9:00. The drummer is on his way to pick up the parts and should be here around 11. I'm off to the PO to post DR Ginny's box of ink cartridges. I hope my physical goes as smoothly.
-
DR Elmore - I'm glad to hear that your day is going so smoothly - hope it continues!
I just got off the phone with one of my professional friends at Victoria Theatre Association and not only will she get me into a performance of DR Jason's A Christmas Carol, she invited me to attend the sponsors' brunch afterward. That makes it a work-related event, which I can do on library time!

Good morning!
Another beautiful looking day, but it's going to be cooler than yesterday, so I'll be hauling out a jacket when I go out today for my usual Friday errands.

None of my usual Friday night shows are on tonight, so I'll be DVDing it all afternoon and evening today. Looking forward to finally clearing off that DVR over the weekend.
-
Woo-hoo, DR Ginny! :)
-
Best broken limb wishes to DR George on his opening!
-
Is JMK's avatar MOVING?
Sometimes more than JMK! ;D
-
We had a pretty good preview last night, although they had just repainted and sealed the floor (they use both the proscenium stage and the actual floor of the theater, with the audience seated on 3 sides), so four (count 'em) people slipped and fell, including Miss Oregon 2007, who took a rather nasty spill during the waltz scene. Like George, we officially open tonight.
-
DR Jason's show will be here in Dayton as part of Victoria Theatre Association's Physicians for Kids Discovery Series (http://www.victoriatheatre.com/eduSeries.php). Here is the Study Guide (http://www.victoriatheatre.com/eduSeries/study_guides/ChristmasCarol_study_guide.pdf) for next week's show.

Hello, all, from my new home computer...the HP Pavilion my mom has given me for Christmas.
I reestablished an internet linkage this morning, although I'm not "all set and ready to go" as they say. Still some wrinkles to iron out, especially in the home page department...and in reestablishing my "Favorites" linkages to my most favorite (and popular to many, varied and sundried others) sites.
Fortunately, I am still capable of remembering how to call them up via www. addresses.

I am home today.

CD: I'm currently listening to Contemporary Christian artist (so sue me) Mark Schultz, who writes some incredibly pretty stuff. My fave of his right now is "You Are a Child of Mine," which sounds a bit like Kenny Loggins.
DVD: I have so many piles of things lying around here, it's scary. Yesterday I managed to get reviews up of both the new Nirvana Unplugged DVD and a Hawaiian guy named Reichel. I need to still get through the new Eric Clapton Crossroads DVD and the 3rd season of Wild, Wild West before my next package arrives (which will probably be today). On the non-reviewing front, I've been skimming through the Sim Christmas Carol, though so far I am finding the commentary a little less than brilliant.
-
So NOW the producer is dealing with the music. But thanks foryour help anyway, and if it doesn't work out, I'll try that sheet music site!
Ginny, I do rely on the library. My mom studied library science and was a librarian for many years!
-
Congratulations on getting up and running, Ron!
-
Standing in the check-out line at the supermarket yesterday, I perused the latest issue of The National Enquirer. So now I know WHO'S GAY AND WHO'S NOT.

CONGRATULATIONS on your linkage, DR RLP. Do not now our avatars appear embiggened, bright, and sparling? :)

I assure you they are distraught and overcome with anxiety.

I haven't bothered to listen to the commentaries for the Sim/SCROOGE. The picture quality for the 4:3 version is the best I've ever seen on home video (not to say it's perfect, but it's certainly a vast improvement over what I had.)
-
For really the first time since August, I find myself virtually empty of any review copies. What a delicious feeling to have my afternoons and nights open for whatever *I* want to watch as opposed to job commitments. I know the freedom will be short-lived. I'm expecting HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 and LOST next week (street dates are December 11), but for now, everything I watch is for pure pleasure.
-
Congratulations on rejoining the internet at home, DR Ron Pulliam. I know that's a relief to your psyche. As with any new computer, there's always a break-in period. You'll be back up to speed in no time.
-
I'm going to head down now and get ready to run my Friday errands. I have to mail some packages at the post office, and who knows how long THAT will take, so I'm going to get a slightly earlier start on my Friday outing.

Good morning, HHW!

I wonder if people in New York ever actually think about what time it is when they call people on the West Coast. I got a call at seven-thirty this morning from a rehearsal studio we used on The Brain, confused about some invoice we'd paid back in September. Luckily, I have all those invoices and was able to help them correct their bookkeeping.
-
It is raining here in the City of Studio - first time in months, although I understand it rained whilst I was in NY.
-
I suppose I'm up.
-
The electricity that runs the box for the automatic sprinklers has been out for over six weeks - the gardener told me about it, and I told him to call the Marsden business manager - he never did. Hopefully they will fix it and my dishwasher soon - in the meantime, my poor lawn really needed this rain.
-
The big question is - where's my umbrella.
-
JMK - could you please make your avatar not move? Same avatar is fine, just not animated. The site is having probs with the animation.
-
Maybe I'll go back to bed - it's quite chilly in the home environment.

DR George, that link to the zombie play was fun! Thanks for posting that, and all the best for a successful opening tonight....and for JMK's Cinderella show, too!

I don't watch a lot of TV, but we're really enjoying Season 1 on DVD. Fantastic writing and acting. We laugh and cry during every episode!

DR JMK - ~~~~~BROKEN LEG VIBES TO YOUR CAST TOO~~~~~
*Although, it sounds like some of your cast almost already did that last night. ;) -I always find it sort of "funny" that productions will re-paint and/or re-seal the floors the night before opening. I mean, I know they do that so that the set looks fresh, but I've been in one too many shows where a bit of slippage has happened due to those shiny new decks.

A friend of mine just called me from the Marquis. He got in line this morning for the free concert that's happening at Noon. When he first got there, he didn't see any lines outside, so he thought he was "safe". Well, after thinking about it for a while, he headed inside to main lobby of the theatre, and, well, he wasn't that "safe". Oops! He is toward the front of the crowd, and the place sounded like it was filling up pretty fast - and the doors don't open for another five minutes. I look forward to his report.
-
DR Jeanne - I'd have to say that if I have a bunch of things to clear off the DVR, "Brothers & Sisters" is always my first priority. True Must-See-TV.

The brunch is actually between the performances. The sponsors will attend the later performance, but I'll see the early show. I asked my friend if the cast would be invited to brunch and she didn't exactly answer me. Should I take Jason a sandwich?
-
The DVD was just emptied of DEVIL WITH A BLUE DRESS ON, one of my faves. The VCR has the last hour of SAURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING which i taped buit didnt get a chance to finish watching(I haven't seen the film since the late 60's) and car CD , on my 25 min ride to work today was the CD re-issue of COCO: I have it on vinyl but I dont remember enjoying it as much as I did today.Except fo 2 gents from Verona, I've enjoyed all the Bway CDs I play in the car. I don't know why that is.

Please! SPILL IT!
DR RLP - It wasn't all that earth-shattering. I actually remember very few. IIRC, The Enquirer determined:
Jody Foster - Yes.
Prince Charles - No.
John Travolta, Jake Gyllenhaal - The Jury's Out. So to speak.

Did they spell your name correctly?

I tried to harvest seeds from my passiflora lutea for you (little creamy-white delicate passion flower) but the pods all fell off with the rain and I couldn't find any of them!
An idea for the future...
I would try putting some fine netting around the head of the flower to capture the pods.
My great grandmother used to do that with some of her flowers. It may or may not work
-
Condolences to Edi's freind...
-
DR Ginny, I am so glad you will get to see DR Jason's performance! And I can't wait to hear all about it!
Perhaps DR JRand will be able to attend the Indiana show!
-
Thanks for the Study Guide link, DR Ginny.
I wonder what it would do to Broadway attendance, were the audience required to fill out those worksheets before and after! ;)
Well, DR Singdaw, here in Ohio nothing happens in K-12 education that doesn't correspond with the Ohio Academic Standards Benchmarks (aka proficiency tests). I find it sad that school can't include some things that are purely for enrichment and, heaven forbid, fun. I think field trips were just that when I was in school 40+ years ago.

Balderdash! IIRC all your pieces were in (approximately) the right locale.

MORE FUEL FOR THE BLAME CANADA CROWD:
CANADIAN BEER DRINKERS THREATEN PLANET (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,313844,00.html)
Scientists have found a new threat to the planet: Canadian beer drinkers.
The government-commissioned study says the old, inefficient "beer fridges" that one in three Canadian households use to store their Molson and Labatt's contribute significantly to global warming by guzzling gas- and coal-fired electricity.
"People need to understand the impact of their lifestyles," British environmental consultant Joanna Yarrow tells New Scientist magazine. "Clearly the environmental implications of having a frivolous luxury like a beer fridge are not hitting home. This research helps inform people — let's hope it has an effect."
The problem is that the beer fridges are mostly decades-old machines that began their second careers as beverage dispensers when Canadians upgraded to more energy-efficient models to store whatever Canadians eat besides doughnuts and poutine.

I watched Kathy Griffin's comedy show as I fixed and ate lunch today. Hilarious and also frustrating since I'm sure it was edited for length. She'd only be getting started on a topic, a commercial would interrupt, and she'd switch to another topic when the show resumed. I'm sure she had PLENTY of material to go with the former pre-commercial topic for another five or ten minutes. Oh, well, it was free! Really funny.

If you had to go and sing outside for an hour and a half to herald the arrival of Santa on a firetruck, you'd be silly too! :)
What? You were dressed as an elf or something? Or are you just being dramatic?
-
Next, I finished the MURDER SHE WROTE episode I had begun last night. (The one with Arthur Hill, Gordon Thomson, and Michael McKean.) I didn't remember the outcome at all (not sure I ever saw the show all the way through when it ran originally), and I did guess the murderer's identity correctly.
-
Will you be wearing your pilgrim costume? Or something Christmas-y?
I hope he has to wear reindeer antlers or elf shoes.
-
DR slingsong: Silly is as silly does!
;D
-
Next, I watched another MURDER, SHE WROTE episode, unfortunately, a Jessica-less story with Keith Michell returning as Dennis Stanton, this time in a plot around a phony Mark Twain manuscript. David Birney and Ken Swofford were guest stars.
-
OK, you two...have your fun. :)
I'm planning to wear a big frown and bk's curmudgeon hat.
And now I'm off to do the deed!
-
Next, I watched (and burned a DVD-R for myself) THE VIRGIN QUEEN. The print the Fox Movie Channel was using looked very rich indeed, and I'm sure when they get around to making an anamorphic DVD of this movie, it will look splendid.
-
Following that, I skimmed through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. No gay characters today and they weren't featured at all in next week's previews (though that means nothing. I'm sure they'll be on at least once next week).
-
Back from a lovely late breakfast with Miss Linda Purl. We had a wonderful time catching up and I'm thinking we have a new idea for a duo act that we'll start working on in January.
-
Just in time for page six.
-
With about 20 minutes left in my viewing afternoon, I put in an old standby that I never tire of watching and don't mind stopping in mid-story - DR. NO. I really do love the new Ultimate Edition remasters at least on DR. NO.
-
When I go back down, it'll be a Blu-ray evening. I have a stack of discs that came in while I was super busy and couldn't watch anything, so I'll be picking from those all weekend.
-
I guess DR springshawl left in a huff...or at least an automobile. I hope he didn't forget to don his gay apparel.
-
I am now recording "Judge Hardy's Children."
The beat goes on...and on...and on.
-
bk, did you send out an eblast about the book signing? I didn't see one but would like to forward it to some friends in LA.
-
As funerals go, this was nice and simple. Lots of music, enough religion and my friend Sally gave the eulogy. She's a professional writer so it was absolutely the most beautiful tribute, without mytholigizing her sister. It was a very compassionate, heartfelt message, and then she read a poem and the husband also read some poetry. This was all so sudden that everyone was still in shock. It was also emotional for the old girlfriend who had been so close to the family and is trying to be supportive but broke down thinking about how close she was to my friend's niece and wanting to be there for her. Maybe it will all work out.
I saw a lot of old friends there and we plan to take our friend out once things calm down.
-
It is really raining now. Hallelujah!
-
~~~~NO FLASH FLOOD VIBES FOR DR DEARREADERLAURA~~~~~
;D
-
DR edisaurus - It sounds like your friend was honored with a beautiful and simple service. Peace.
-
DR George:
***MAJOR OPENING-NIGHT VIBAGE***
and BREAK A LEG!!!
Even though it explains in that article you posted, I really can't figure the minds that schedule things like your show and the new film of Sweeney Todd as holiday fare!!! :-\
THANK YOU!! And about that holiday fare thing, Pug, our director has specified in the past, "alternative holiday fare"...that there is just so much sugary-sweetness during this time of year, that "Nite" is something different. Ain't it the truth? :D
-
DRs Elmore and Arnold, keep eyes open for packages to arrive early next week. I put your DVD-Rs in the mail around 11:30 a.m. this morning.
Thank You DR Matt H..Really looking forward
-
DRs Elmore and Arnold, keep eyes open for packages to arrive early next week. I put your DVD-Rs in the mail around 11:30 a.m. this morning.
Thank you, DRs Matt H and RonPulliam! I look forward to seeing the episodes and I appreciate your kindness.
DR edisaurus, it sounds like a simple and moving ceremony. I, of course, want the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, DR Slingshaw dressed as an elf singing my favorite songs, the Rockettes, and a million of my closest chums in attendance wailing like mad, to be followed with my ashes thrown in Lady macbeth's face.
-
Best broken limb wishes to DR George on his opening!
Thanks!
-
Well, I'm off to dinner, and then The Metropolitan Room to revel in Liz Callaway's voice. -Does one "revel" in a voice? In any case...
Laters...
I think you should have your ashes mixed in with her sugar bowl, so that each morning as she has her morning cup of java...
-
I just got off the phone with one of my professional friends at Victoria Theatre Association and not only will she get me into a performance of DR Jason's A Christmas Carol, she invited me to attend the sponsors' brunch afterward. That makes it a work-related event, which I can do on library time!
That's right, work the system! Great news that you can get paid to see Jason in a show! ;)
-
We had a pretty good preview last night, although they had just repainted and sealed the floor (they use both the proscenium stage and the actual floor of the theater, with the audience seated on 3 sides), so four (count 'em) people slipped and fell, including Miss Oregon 2007, who took a rather nasty spill during the waltz scene. Like George, we officially open tonight.
Break Many Legs (but not literally), JMK!!!
-
Off to mop the kitchen floor and then on to my night of Blu-ray viewing.
WBBL.
-
DR George, that link to the zombie play was fun! Thanks for posting that, and all the best for a successful opening tonight....and for JMK's Cinderella show, too!
Glad you liked it! As frustrating as the process has been (not having sheet music, etc.), the people have all been a lot of fun and have made it worth doing. ;D
-
DR George - ~~~~~BREAK A LEG TONIGHT~~~~~~
*Now, if a zombie breaks his/her/its leg, do he/she/it feel it?
Thanks!
* No, he/she/it/they just eat it. ;)
-
DR Jeanne - I'd have to say that if I have a bunch of things to clear off the DVR, "Brothers & Sisters" is always my first priority. True Must-See-TV.
This is a show that I've come to really like, but for the first few episodes at the beginning of the series, I just couldn't get into it, so I didn't watch it at all. It wasn't until it got near the end of the first season that I tried it again and then I really liked it. I don't know what I missed, but I'm not too concerned about catching up.
-
I watched Kathy Griffin's comedy show as I fixed and ate lunch today. Hilarious and also frustrating since I'm sure it was edited for length. She'd only be getting started on a topic, a commercial would interrupt, and she'd switch to another topic when the show resumed. I'm sure she had PLENTY of material to go with the former pre-commercial topic for another five or ten minutes. Oh, well, it was free! Really funny.
I watched the first 10 minutes or so of this, this morning. She is hysterical! I LOVED what I saw, but I agree about the editing. :P I say to that.
-
I did send out an eBlast, but only to people in CA. I'll PM you a copy - let's fill the jernt!
-
PM sent. Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
I took on the book room today and I won. It is now very organized, all the piles have been put away and it looks lovely again.
-
Today the book room, tomorrow the dining room. Then the kitchen (yes, there are piles of junk in there, too), then the living room, then the den.
-
I shall be entering the new year completely organized.
-
I am my own frenzy.
-
It's December Eve, isn't it!
I have a friend whose name is Holly Eve (she was born on December the 24th) and another friend whose name is Rainy December (she was born in September ;)).
;D
-
Will we never get to page seven?
-
So it is written, so it shall be done - page seven.
-
Well, I'm off to dinner, and then The Metropolitan Room to revel in Liz Callaway's voice. -Does one "revel" in a voice? In any case...
Laters...
Bask in the beauty of her voice??
;)
-
I think you should have your ashes mixed in with her sugar bowl, so that each morning as she has her morning cup of java...
I believe she starts her day with vodka.
-
"Out West With the Hardys" is now recording.
Sigh.
-
And the word of the day is: DRAWCANSIR!
Rancid wars.
-
TOD: I'm playing Sturm und Drang's Greatest Hits!
-
TOD:
CDs - nothing right now
DVDs - Doctor Who - The Complete Third Series
Movies - Enchanted - we enjoyed it
Books - James McNair's Favorites - an actual cookbook, instead of just something about food.
-
I heard Sturm and Drang had an acrimonious break-up.
-
It is raining.
MEN! Hallelujah!
;D
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
Watching the rain.
-
DR RLP - It wasn't all that earth-shattering. I actually remember very few. IIRC, The Enquirer determined:
Jody Foster - Yes.
Prince Charles - No.
John Travolta, Jake Gyllenhaal - The Jury's Out. So to speak.
Jodie Foster gay!? No!
-
I should get started on der Brucer's dinner.
Pasta sauced with some sausage and tomato sauce.
And soup. To be specific, Gingered Carrot Soup.
I haven't tried this before, but it sounds yummilicious. Leeks, minced fresh ginger, lots of carrots, chicken broth, fresh orange juice, and mint, all cooked and then smoothly pureed in the food processor, and finished off with a little cream.
-
I've been on a cleaning tear.
-
Whilst Mr. Fiedler plays.
-
While Gracie cooks, George Burns.
;)
-
I believe she starts her day with vodka.
She and a certain golden age actress JR and I occasionally ruminate about. ;)
-
We're expecting snow and Oregon's first ever hurricane warning tomorrow. Oy.
-
The snow I welcome. The winds, not so much.
-
Got a huge cache of packages today, including the 3 HD DVDs I got on Amazon's sale (thanks MattH!). Popped in Mutiny on the Bounty and was immediately blown away by how wonderful the Overture sounded. I heard things I don't think I've ever realized were there before, even on the most excellent FSM release. Since I've seen Mutiny so many times, I decided to pop in Grand Prix, which I've never seen. Had a moment of hilarity as I was listening to the Overture. For some reason I had thought it was a Goldsmith score and as I kept listening I kept thinking "why is Jerry Goldsmith aping Maurice Jarre?", only to find out that of course it's a Jarre score. This is probably sacrilege, but I find a lot of Jarre's scoring distractingly inappropriate--e.g., the Overture to Grand Prix sounds like outtakes from some WWI film. And what's up with all the multi-screen and slow-mo effects? It reminds me in a way of Darling, with Schlesinger try oh-so-hard to be oh-so-cool. Frankenheimer (like Schlesinger) was better than that, or at least I'd like to think so.
Here I am in the parking garage booth. I'm holding the rubber band chain I started making when I got bored.
Here is the rubber band chain when I finished it and we draped it across the inside of the booth. There were 71 rubber bands.
And, of course, the Swedish Chef hat on the big chair.
Here's how that conversation went:
"Hey, would you take a picture of me wearing a yellow Swedish Chef hat?"
"Do you have a yellow Swedish Chef hat?"
"Yes."
"Okay."
And for a video clip, click HERE (http://videos.theolympian.com/vmix_hosted_apps/p/media?id=1578434) (it takes a moment to load). If you watch the introduction (the first 30 seconds), you can see me on the right when our segment is announced. After that, scroll right until there is about 2 minutes and 30 seconds left (as indicated by the timer on the right side of the scroll bar) and that's where our segment really starts. :D
It takes a moment to load??? I have sat through miniseries that didn't last that long!
-
Nice clip, DR GEORGE.
DR EDISAURUS thanks for the info about the film. Hmmmmm that means that Judy's work on VALLEY OF THE DOLLS was processed just not used and sat somewhere until it was destroyed.
Jrand, shouldn't you have worried about this sooner? Like, say, 1969?
-
BREAK A LEG TONIGHT, GEORGE!
Just don't let anyone eat it.
Mmmm, Jake Gyllenhaal! Now THAT is what I want for Christmas.
There was something I wanted to say, but now I can't think of what it was.
-
I'll retrace my posting steps and see if I can remember.
-
Think I'll go to dinner.
-
JMK, you should keep your avatar, just don't have it animated.
Duo act? As in You and Ms Purl?
Well...on my computer here at work, it only takes a moment (a Jerry Herman reference).
;)
Leg breakage for George!
-
JMK, you should keep your avatar, just don't have it animated.
I don't think that's an option, unfortunately.
-
BREAK A LEG TONIGHT, GEORGE!
Just don't let anyone eat it.
Thanks! Fortunately, I'm not a "regular" zombie. I'm only a zombie extra in the opening number, "We're Coming To Get You, Barbra," right after I'm the sheriff's deputy in the very opening scene. :)
-
Break a leg, George!
And thank you, DearReaderLaura! :D
-
Leg breakage for George!
Thanks, JMK!
-
I don't think that's an option, unfortunately.
Actually, it is. In Photobucket, I was able to make one that didn't move. Also, one can take a picture of the animated gif and create a still. If you PM me the link to the animated gif, I can do it for you. :)
-
If you want.
-
Re: Kathy Griffin. Betsy and I stayed up way past our bedtime (till after midnight, a J.J. Cale reference) to watch last night. It struck us both that she'd had more "work" done and is dangerously close to the tipping point where she will be looking more like Dr. Drew Casper. ;)
-
I'll play around with it. If the GIFs don't work here, Mr. Bark Makalor should remove them as an option. Although all of them (yours and Danise's, too) looked fine to me when they were shakin' and rollin'. ;)
-
I don't think that's an option, unfortunately.
Why not? It's easy.
-
Condolences to the friend of DR EDISAURUS.....
-
To DRs JMK and GEORGE....kisses on your openings!
-
DR TCB I have been worrying about it since 1967!!
-
DR ELMORE yes it is Mr Kip Wilborn. I think Kip Ward is his stripper name.
-
DR TCB I have been worrying about it since 1967!!
Don't you think it is probably better that we don't ever see it?
-
To DRs JMK and GEORGE....kisses on your openings!
:o
Why, thank you! ;)
-
Don't you think it is probably better that we don't ever see it?
No. ;D
-
Off to Cinderella's opening night. Will play around with GIFs after I return from the ball.
-
I wonder if people in New York ever actually think about what time it is when they call people on the West Coast. I got a call at seven-thirty this morning
I hate that! 7:30 isn't too bad, I've had much earlier.
-
Soup is coming along nicely, all pureed and resting. When the other course (sausage and tomato sauce over pasta) is ready, I'll add the orange juice and reheat, then add a little mint and cream.
-
Then, a couple of episodes with the Doctor (a two-parter) and to bed.
-
There was an episode in series one titled "The Doctor Dances." Doctor Dance!
-
And Larry should be getting a Life (DVD-R) sometime next week, too, although it won't go out until tomorrow a.m.
That will make 3 episodes in one week.
With other shows going on hiatus for the month of December, I find it interesting there will be two new episodes next week. I hope it pumps up the ratings ;)
-
Watching "Don't Forget the Lyrics" for the first time. A fun show, but I'm realizing how few lyrics I remember from pop songs I've heard over and over.
-
There is only so much room in the cranial cavity! ;D
-
Time to go to the theater! Our official opening night!! ;D
-
Edi, The ceremony sounds very moving condolences to all involved.
-
But before I go...Topic of the Day: Media report: Nothing! I'm in a play that opens tonight! ;D
Watching the rain.
I LOVE IT!!! :D ;D
-
Well, holiday preparations have officially begun here - DH Richard and I just "switched the dishes." That means that we get the Christmas dishes down from the cupboard above the refrigerator and put the regular dishes up there until after January 6. It's so much easier with 2 people - the tall one on the stepstool dealing with that high cupboard and the short one handing things up. Now, I'm running the dishwasher, because the dishes that have been stored up there for 11 months were pretty dusty.
-
Opening night break-a-leg vibes to DRs George and JMK.
-
Sandra, are you saying a stranger took your photo? :o ;D Was he cute?
-
DR Sandra - that looks like a very well-kept parking garage.
-
BREAK A LEG TONIGHT, GEORGE!
Just don't let anyone eat it.
;D
Congrats on the show & continued good wishes. It was great fun to watch you in action.
-
Are those state-owned rubber bands, young lady?
-
Mr Evel Knievel has joined the choir invisible.
-
Off to Cinderella's opening night.
Hope the show went well & there weren't any falls.
-
Ten minutes ago I saw you....................
-
I, of course, want the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, DR Slingshaw dressed as an elf singing my favorite songs, the Rockettes, and a million of my closest chums in attendance wailing like mad, to be followed with my ashes thrown in Lady macbeth's face.
ROTFLOL! Your ashes are far too good for that woman!
-
I shall be entering the new year completely organized.
This is quite inspiring. I would like to have the living room. kitchen and dining room done by the end of the weekend. I may even get out a few Christmas Decorations.
-
'night
-
If you want to know where I live just turn on the weather channel. I'm on the line between the Ice Storm Warning and the winter storm warning. Tomorrow will be a good day to stay inside. I may light the first fire in the fireplace. I didn't do it last year because I hadn't had the chimney sweep check it, but now I know I'm good to go and it will be an ice/snow storm...sounds like a fun plan...
-
I'm thinking about getting out my Christmas dishes. Perhaps as soon as I finish with the clean up. Actually, since we are having ice and snow and I shall most definitely be stranded in the house, it would be a good time to get serious about organizing and decorating
-
I watched Polar Express for the first time tonight. I really enjoyed it and now feel much more of the Christmas spirit
-
DR Cillaliz - stay safe in tomorrow's weather! You know you're in for it when your town is on the Weather Channel!
-
Back from dinner at - Jinky's. It was a Jinkey's sort of day, I guess. Dinner was merely okay, whereas breakfast was excellent.
-
Will we never get to page ten?
-
Tomorrow's a work day for me, so - goodnight!
-
Sandra, are you saying a stranger took your photo? :o ;D
He works in the garage. He was really having fun with that rubber band chain, too.
-
DR Sandra, I have always wondered, where do the Parking Garage booth employees go potty at? Or do they?
-
He works in the garage. He was really having fun with that rubber band chain, too.
But is he cute.... ;)
-
DR Sandra, I have always wondered, where do the Parking Garage booth employees go potty at? Or do they?
Are you sure you want to know the answer to this???? ;)
-
Time for to rest and relax and watch my first Bollywood movie of the weekend...and just arrived in the mail is NO SMOKING starring John Abraham, Ayesha Takia, and Paresh Rawal.
Plot: A chain smoker joins a kick the habit group. When he relapses...well, it doesn't go over very well with the leader of the quit smoking group.
I am not sure if it is a comedy or a thriller or both. But I do know there will be some good song and dance numbers :D
(http://www.nowrunning.com/comingsoon/nosmoking/poster.jpg)
-
DR Sandra, I have always wondered, where do the Parking Garage booth employees go potty at? Or do they?
There's a building within running distance. The trick is rationing the Cherry Coke until you get your fifteen minute break. I almost didn't make it a couple days ago.
-
With other shows going on hiatus for the month of December, I find it interesting there will be two new episodes next week. I hope it pumps up the ratings ;)
I hope it does, too. On the other hand, if the episodes don't do well against rerun competition, that will pretty much end much chance of a second season for it.
-
If you can make it there, you'll make it anywhere.
-
I watched another 30 minutes of DR. NO. I got them to Crab Key and being fired on by the passing boat. They're just about to go into the interior of the island to hide from the guards.
-
Next, I watched the Blu-ray of STRANGER THAN FICTION. It was a very unusual comedy, much in the surreal kind of vein of a BEING JOHN MALKOVICH or AFFLICTION. Will Ferrell can be an acquired taste in some of his movies, but he really gives a heartfelt performance in this. And there's a wonderful supporting cast, too, including Queen Latifah, Emma Thompson, and Maggie Gyllanhaal.
-
Next, I watched the Blu-ray of one of my favorite films of the past two years: THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA. It is sharper than the SD-DVD and the color is richer and smoother, but the picture quality isn't light years ahead of the SD release, nothing like the advance in quality that MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 3 or THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA gains over its SD counterpart.
-
I hadn't watched the PRADA gag reel in awhile, so I watched that.
The Blu-ray also has a pop-up facts option, so I turned it on and jumped back midway into the movie to watch some of the facts pop up. Nice to know which designers were responsible for the various outfits worn by the ladies in the film.
-
It is still raining.
-
Eyes are feeling very heavy so I'm heading down to go to bed.
Good night!
-
Good night.
-
East Coast pooper-outers!
-
The more I get done the more I have to do.
There should be a law....
-
I'd love a huge slab of some delicious cake.
-
Or a really tasty and crunchy cookie.
-
I have ice cream and chocolate syrup...and pecans and walnuts. I suppose I could make do.
-
Anyone other than me anticipating "Tin Man" which premieres Sunday night on SciFiChannel?
-
I'm a bit miffed that tomorrow's episode is the season finale for "Torchwood." It doesn't seem to have been on all that long. Perhaps I'm missing some time.
-
Sad to say I've seen people relieving themselves in corners of parking facilities.
There was even a "Seinfeld" episode about that.
-
There is a new episode of "Stargate Atlantis" on this evening. I may be confused, but I think it's a season premiere.
-
I could frenzy if I wanted to.
-
And who would step up to stop me?
-
JoseSPiano?
Nah.
-
Missy Karen?
Doubtful.
-
vixmom?
Who? Huh? Wha'?
-
DR MattH?
Not unless he tosses a sawed log at me.
-
DFR Jason?
He'd have to log on and post something.
-
DR Elmore3003?
I think he's enjoying the privacy of his home.
-
So here it is.
Page 11.
And I've not yet begun to frenzy.
No...not even.
And there's no DerBrucer in sight.
-
In fact, I seem to be alone on this here forum. And it's only 9 p.m. PST.
Whassupwiddat?
-
So much I want to do during this weekend. Cleaning and sorting out and throwing away. Packing up and mailing.
Getting stuff ready to ship or give away.
Getting my butt ready for my sojourn back east.
-
So sad to be all alone in this forum.
-
And without slapspawn around, I can only say that to frolic and dance solo would be depriving him of much merriment.
-
Not to mention bliss.
No, I said don't mention it.
Bliss.
-
I think I do feel a slight frenzy coming over me.
It may pass, though.
-
If I've missed saying Happy Birthday to anyone in the recent past, I apologize and hope your birthday was splendid.
-
Navy plays Army tomorrow. The Navy is 7-4. The Army is something like 3-8.
Navy is playing to win the Commander-in-Chief trophy (and could also get a bowl bid).
-
Sleigh bells ring, are ya listenin'?
-
Where's Vaughan Monroe when you really need him?
-
So, to clarify things in writing so I can refer to this post later, I have 7 Andy Hardy movies on DVD and have 7 more to record. And there are 7 Maisie movies.
Sigh
-
I've noticed -- yes, yes I have -- that having a wireless keyboard can be tricky. A slight shift in position and certain keys don't register when I strike them. You'd think that if one key can register, then all keys could register.
Or it may be that I'm just not used to this keyboard.
-
Seriously....I see Edisaurus in the forum now, but there's no guarantee she's doing more than just reading.
It must be late in Hotlanta!
-
And where is Mr. BK tonight? Wussburgering?
It must be part of the strike settlement.
-
Golly.
Where is JRand?
It's only about 11:11 p.m. in Indiana. Surely he's up.
I don't know why this Friday e'en is so sluggish in the Forum. Is everyone out shopping?
There's surely not "great TV" in the offing anywhere. Not so's I noticed, at any rate.
-
I'm about three-quarters of an hour away from the "new" episode of "Stargate: Atlantis". I am rather looking forward to it, I am.
-
Hello?
Nobody here but us chickens.
Where oh where can Mr. Jose "Shipoopi" Piano be this evening?
Whassat? Go back and read the posts? Maybe he's already said what he's doing?
Really?
-
I saw shining lights
But I never knew
They were you
They were you
They were you
Yes, I am officially frenzied right now.
No one has intervened.
No one has broken my lack of thought.
-
If I frenzy a bit more, I think -- yes I do -- that I shall attain a new (for me) milestone.
Which begs the question...if someone hits a milestone and no one is there to observe it, did it really happen?
-
Perhaps the question doesn't require an answer.
Perhaps everyone will simply be suprised.
Or not.
-
And perhaps no one but "I" will care.
But this one does the trick!
Thank you! Thank you! I'm overwhelmed by your felicitations!
;D
-
No! No! No interviews. I'm too modest!
-
Please! The flashes are too bright!
My eyes! My eyes!
"Joy, joy," said Mrs. Malloy.
I'm here. Just finished watching The Spoilers, which I'd never seen before.
-
Whenever will we get to page 13?
-
Hurrah! Another voice.
It's a party.
I'm here. Just finished watching The Spoilers, which I'd never seen before.
I know I should know what this movie is about, but it's eluding me. Can you comment further?
-
In the morning, I'm headed out to Peet's for a triple-shot latte and La Farine's for some Morning Buns and Chocolatines. If I'm feeling bad, I'll buy a couple of their cookies.
-
At this point in tonight's posts, anyone catching up tomorrow is bound to be disgusted by my frenzy.
"What on earth made him do it?" they'll ask.
"What's his damage" they'll posit.
"Who cares, Ron? Who CARES" they'll shout at their monitors.
And I will laugh and laugh and laugh.
-
I'll have my coffee, eat my treats.
And then I shall laugh again!
;D
-
I've had my fun. Sorry it had to be with me and by myself.
But when one is moved to post, one must move to post.
It was a nice workout, and it gave me some practicer on my new keyboard.
-
Twenty more posts will get us to page 13.
And as it's only 9:35 p.m., PST, things could get lively here again.
-
Wow! There's an 8-minute gap between my new computer's clock and the time hack on this here site.
Am I somehow "back" in time?
-
Did everyone here but me know that Bollywood films have a much larger audience base than "Hollywood" films?
-
I'm back from a very successful opening night, though they were smoking something in the booth, as several pre-record cues were late, late, late (not that anyone other than I and the actors noticed). The unexpected high point was in the second act when the Prince and Cinderella kissed for the first time and some little 4 or 5 year old boy in the front row let out an hilarious "Eeeewwwwww" that brought the house down.
-
Kids! That's probably something that happened to W.C. Fields.
-
I'm back from a really dreadful production called "Love, Johnny", based on the life of Johnny Mercer. Man, what a messy book---it made absolutely no sense to any of us who went, and we know about his life.
There were a few songs that I never realized he'd written and a few I'd never heard before, but still it wasn't work the time spent. And I even got comp tickets!
-
Congratulations on a successful opening night, JMK. Hope to hear the same soon from George!
Is there a really good documentary out there about Johnny Mercer?
Sorry to break your stride, RonP!
Not yet. That's why we're making one...until the big dogs pull the rug out from under us, that is.
Sorry to break your stride, RonP!
My stride's run its course. It's nice to see other posts/posters.
Gone! Amy's gone!
Sigh!
I guess I'll move on out of here for the time being. I have my ice cream to dish out and dress....and then there's that TV show I'm gonna watch.
Ciao-ders.
-
I might drop back in before bed.
It is raining. Hallelujah!
Continued rain vibes for CA and AZ!!
Tomorrow will be a big day of running gas lines. Which means the gas will be turned off all day. And it will be cold. The cats are going to hate this.
At least I have an electric heater in my editing cove...
Has anyone ever attended Sundance?
-
Thanks for the info on "The Spoilers". I've never seen it.
-
I'm recording "Stargate: Atlantis". For some reason, I just couldn't "sit there" and watch the story unfold. I
guess I'm a bit wound up (and trying to wind down).
I keep thinking of things I have to do between now and Dec. 11. I want it to be done NOW!
-
Congrats to RLP on his new plateau!
Why thank you!
-
Please don't post any spoilers about The Spoilers!
I couldn't if I wanted to.
-
Really quiet tonight...
-
Was poiking around to see what other films were at Sundance aside from the competition ones
-
Was curious to see if matt's film made it to Sundance, by chance
