Can't remember the exact title but something Orange County.
Just call me San Andreas.
It is rumored that Virgin Megastore in Times Square will be closing early 2009.
What ever will our very own dear DR JoseSPiano do?
Well, once he realizes he can't purchase a virgin there, he'll move on.
DR Jose or whomever may see this, Well, my sister and I purchased tickets to Gypsy, Xanadu, and 39 Steps. Do you or anyone think these are good choices so far? We may do one more show, Can't remember the exact title but something Orange County.
3-1/2 HOURS OF FAMILY DYSFUNCTION - that should be a great title, shouldn't it?

3-1/2 DECADES OF FAMILY DYSFUNCTION is the subtitle of my memoirs.
A question maybe for DR MattH or RonP.
RE: LIFE
They just released the Canadian tv fall schedule. And LIFE is on here (on the canadian channel) on Fridays.
Do any of you know if that is the same day it will be shown in the US? That does not seem like a good day for the show.
Very warm today.
Yes, DR MBARNUM, I received your envelope today!! Very exciting. I now own my own copy of Walt Disney's ANNETTE - Sierra Summer. Annette goes on vacation and becomes involved in many mysteries and much danger.....

Here in canada we have HMV which is a huge music store.
We also have Best Buy and something called Future Shop. But the last 2 sell appliances too!
I certainly didn't find the Cubby thing funny, but that's just me. Of course, it makes perfect sense that Mr. Colaizzo is in it - he works for the General Management team.
You will remember where you first heard about the demise of Virgin - I predicted the Broadway store would be closing, because I received some insider information. They chose to hang on in NY, close their flagship store in LA and other stores elsewhere, but the writing has been on the wall for two years now. Soon, the only store options will be Target and Best Buy and that, for me, is the end of the retail music business - which is nauseating and pathetic.

Can someone explain the joke (or the not funny joke). I must have missed a post. I saw the part about Xanadu trying for the Tony. But I am not connecting the dots.

Hey, DR Jose! How's your day going? :)
I do plan to watch FEAR ITSELF tonight on NBC, an horror anthology series slated for a 13 week run. I'd love for this to be successful. It would be nice to have one anthology show running that starts a viewer off fresh every week with a new tale. It's been SO long since one of those was successful.
Wish I could have been on that lingerie sale! *wondering how long it takes to drive from Portland, OR, to Lasenza in Canada* :)

Has anyone here been to China? If so, how was the Chinese food?
I have a cooking question, if DR Jose doesn't leave before i type it.
I am cooking some chicken on the BBQ tonight (grill outside).
How long would i have to boil it for first so that i won't have to keep it on the grill forever?
I really have no clue (i'm emailing my mom after i type this to see what she thinks). I guess i would want to keep it on the grill for like 20 minutes max.
Has anyone here been to China? If so, how was the Chinese food?
That's what I've heard. Do you know what the big differences are? Are the dishes similar?
My idea for the final cast member of the Nudie reading didn't work out - it would have if the gentleman were not going to China early the next morning.
Sorry, DR Jose, that's what i meant, cooking it in the kitchen first.
Boiling it in the kitchen first. Because otherwise it would take forever!
The chicken has bones, yes. It's not a full chicken. It's chicken legs (well i think that is what they call that cut at the supermarket).
I've been to Chinatown, but I've never been to me. (almost a Charlene reference)

Grill chicken until well browned on both sides, turning once, 30 to 40 minutes (meat near thigh bones should no longer be pink when tested with the tip of a knife).
FYI.
All grills are different temperatures so.
Take advantage of indirect heat --.
If the chicken browns to quickly finish over indirect heat.
All grills have hot spots so watch and be sure to move the chicken to make the cooking of the chicken complete and satisfying to your needs. As the time of the year make grilling quicker or slower. So take care and watch and enjoy you food as it grills.
The best way to judge doneness isto use a digital meat thermometer. Whole chicken should be cooked to 185F (85C), chicken pieces to 170F (77C) and ground chicken to 175F (80C).
...a small hibachi!).
Well, if you were planning on putting it on the grill for 20 minutes after precooking it, you'd have some pretty over-cooked chicken.
your small hibachi.
Condolences on your small hibachi.

You saw this coming!
Thanks for all the chicken advice/info.
I don't want to be out there for 40 minutes (which is how long i think it would take). I don't have a meat thermometer (i really should get one).
But i do know how to tell if it's ready. So that at least is good.
I like the idea of baking it at 300F like DR RonP said. Although i'm not sure if i want to turn on the oven. I think it may be okay today. But it is supposed to get extremely hot here the next 2 days.
An interesting "take" on virtual pit bands (http://www.nytimes.com/indexes/2008/06/05/technology/circuitsemail/index.html?8cir&emc=cir)...
3-1/2 HOURS OF FAMILY DYSFUNCTION - that should be a great title, shouldn't it?
When I was in Side Show, the guy playing Terry told me that he didn't like performing the song, "Private Conversation" because it was "Eight and a Half Minutes of Angst."
Hi, Ben.
Does your grill have a lid? If you can cover your grill, that would help things a bit.
Buy one of those aluminum pans and put your chickens inside, preferably on one of those cooling grills for cakes or draining pans inside roasters, and put on your grill and cover it when the coals are "almost" ready for cooking. Let the pan stay there for about 30 minutes. THEN, remove from grill, take the chicken and transfer to the actual grill. Baste with whatever sauces you prefer and let it cook until done. Since you are doing chicken legs, that won't take much more than 10-15 minutes or so.
I wonder how many posts I have to post to reach "Full Member"? A thousand?

Just got an e-mail announcing the first LA reading (READING) of a major new musical (part of the LA Festival) - The Times, by Brad Ross and Joe Keenan. Say what? NEW? NEW? Good morning!
Another very hot (for early June) day with temps in the upper 90s. Looks like summer has arrived early here. And no rain at all in the forecast for the next five days. We're already running four inches behind for the year and added to the 12 inches behind from last year, wew're still in drought conditions.
I just had a phone call from my very dear friend from high school. He has been working in Turkey for the last ten years, and he just returned to town. We chatted until my phone battery went dead.

After that will be the original Czech cast recording of The Witches of Eastwick[/u] (http://www.soundofmusic-shop.de/CD_WITCHES_OF_EASTWICK_THE_-_Original_Czech_Cast_2007.html). What's cool about this recording is that it has the complete lyrics...not that I read Czech at all.

I never cook chicken legs on the stovetop (only in the oven for 1 hour).
This is the same chicken that in the oven would take 1 hour at 375F.
I know if i just put it on the grill (for up to 20 minutes) that it would not be cooked.
My mom had 2 ideas. One was to boil it for 10 minutes first. The second was to bake it part way through.
The thing is i don't care if i only put it on the grill for 10 minutes. I just want it to be cooked!
Today at work, I received a package from www.soundofmusic-shop.de...which is fortunate, since I had ordered the two enclosed CDs and had them sent to my work! Even though it's not tomorrow, in my CD player RIGHT NOW is:

Hi, Julie,
Newbie goes away at 51 posts if I recall correctly.
I think Gypsy and 39 Steps are good choices. I'm not a fan of Xanadu but both Fred (FJL) and Jose like the show so there you have it. We've been over the pros and cons before. Many people (Larry (Elmore) and I are in a small minority) find the show wonderfully funny and a great take on a very, very, very bad movie. I respectfully disagree.
You should be able to get half-price tickets for August: Osage County at the TKTS booth. It's a big hit but it's still on half-price. The mezzanine tickets are actually better (in my humble opinion) because of the set design. You get to see the whole picture easier than if you're sitting in the orchestra. The Music Box Theatre is small anyway so wherever you sit your view will be OK. I do recommend August: Osage County. It's 3/12 hours of family dysfunction but the time flies by and it's very funny.
3-1/2 HOURS OF FAMILY DYSFUNCTION - that should be a great title, shouldn't it?
Where the HELL did everyone go? Are we WUSSBURERING at four o'clock now?
My in-laws saw this in London when it was running. They had the opportunity to buy me the OLC, autographed, but, NOOOOO, they got me a lovely coffee mug emblazoned with the logo instead.
Boy, does it feel like tornado weather outside. Whew! We are under a PDS warning Particularly Dangerous Situation. My, that sure is comforting. We had rain wind and hail this noon, but it's supposed to get bad tonight. I did put a transistor radio and a flashlight in my closet under the basement stairs. I figure that's the best place in the house to go.
There were 46 reported tornados in Nebraska and Iowa south of here yesterday.
Some DR correct me if I'm wrong...
~~~Vibes for a Particularly NON-Dangerous Situation!!~~~
The bad stuff is west of us right now, but we're under a tornado watch until 1:00 AM so anything can happen. I will be staying home with the girls tonight.
You've quite welcome, DR Jose!
JulieC40, nice to see you online. You are really going to love New York, but be careful you don't pre-plan too many shows or too many activities before you get there.
