Hello, DR Ben!

Good morning, all! I am very tired and I want to sleep late, but I have the McGlinnvetory and an appointment at the NYU Dental Clinic. Tomorrow, I'm stuck at Toyland most of the day, and on Saturday morning, I have to do laundry. I guess Sunday is my first chance to sleep in. I may spend most of the weekend in bed watching tv.

BK, excellent news on last night's show! If the 12 no-shows had shown up, where would they be seated?

So, the recording is on break for around 12 days and I have other work to catch up on for Jerome Moross and Toyland. When I drag myself out of my lethargy this weekend, I've got to get to work on BALLET BALLADS abd organize all the Moross work. I've also got to start typing lyrics for all the Herbert songs so that when we've finished the recordings I can jump into the booklet notes. First, coffee.

She is such a sweet little girl. Now Mae-Ling could probably hold her own against bullies. Which, of course, is why they picked on Wae-Ling.

It's my experience with school bullies is that they always win while you're in the middle of it; Surviving is the trick. it isn't till you go back to your school reunons with a lot of good press, some clout, and name dropping that the bullies - who usually dropped out of school to go into theft, carjacking and other sports - get shown up. :D

Thursday morning greetings!  Like DR Elmore, I have a dental appointment and we'll see if Sharon can clean my teeth without my needing a blood transfusion.  Then, this afternoon I go back to the rheumatologist for test results, which I'm hoping reveal nothing that would require his continuing attention.

I find it very interesting that Kitty Vixmom had six nipples and seven kittens and everyone got along fine. Kitty Miss Karen has six nipples and four kittens, and they fight over them.

These are the things one thinks about when one's cat wants to go outside at 3:30 a.m.

Good morning, all!

TOD: Yowza, that's a lot to think about. Here goes:

Living:
Writer: Terry Pratchett. His "Discworld" series has been a constant companion to me for more than half my life, and I'd love to express my appreciation to him.
Director: Mel Brooks, although I'd have to take The Lovely Wife(tm) along to keep me from breaking into "2000-year-old-man" dialogue.
Actor: Patrick Stewart
Singer: Bernadette Peters.
Composer: Sondheim.
Lyricist: Tom Jones. From my limited experience with him (saw him in a revue at the York, and sat next to him during Pamela Myers's cabaret show), he comes across as a lovely and witty gentleman, and I'd be thrilled to hear him talk about his career and shows.

Of those who have shuffled off the mortal coil:
Writer: Rashi (11th century biblical and talmudic commentator).
Director: Alfred Hitchcock
Actor: Ethel Merman
Singer: my grandmother, who used to make up new "Yiddishized" lyrics to songs (e.g., "The Girl that I Marry" would have to be able to make a kugel). She died well before I knew anything about musical theater, and I'd love to have the opportunity to sing the songs that I now know with her.
Composer/lyricist: Cole Porter. Take him to Marie's Crisis and have him sing the "party" versions of his songs (actually, as long as we're reviving the dead, I'd reincarnate Eighty-Eight's and take him there)

As far as Deceased people are concerned, I would have liked to have known:

James Cagney
Errol Flynn
Carole Lombard
Orson Welles
George M. Cohan
Al Jolson

Among the Living:

Clint Eastwood

DR Laura, I know that you are not directly responsible for the Goldstein girls, but as long as Wae-Ling (or her sister) knows that there is someone she can talk to about the bullies, that is a big help right there.

The other way to handle bullies is to let them know that everyone is on to them and that their actions are being monitored.

I saw the basis of my ex-boss' appeal in the unemployment matter and I must say it confuses me.  As a very major point, he says they did not hear from me, but he knows I have e-mails that contradict this, unless he means "hear" ultra-literally as in with their ears over the phone.

TOD:

LIVING:

Writer:  I really like Elan's choice of Terry Pratchett, especially now that this witty, smart man is in the first stages of Alzheimer's.  Second choice would be playwright Peter Shaffer.

Director: Sir Peter Hall

Actor: Simon Russell Beale

Singer:  Michael Feinstein...watch the 1st part of his series on PBS.  I see he is also a chronic archivist and has done a great deal for keeping the Great American Songbook alive (along with our genial host, BK).

Composer/lyricist:  Sondheim

DEAD:

Writer:  Shakespeare, whoever he was...

Director:  Billy Wilder

Actor: Laurence Olivier

Singer:  Sinatra

Composer:  Oscar Levant

Lyricist:  Lorenz Hart

Hey everyone.  Like Elmore, the days for sleeping in are slim to none anymore and I look forward to the days that I can - like today.  The dogs behaved and let me sleep until 8:30 or so.

The show is going well.  We are making great strides.  So much "behind the scenes" junk to deal with.  It would be so much easier if there was only a show to direct.

And that's all I have for now... but only for now.

Laura, how is Sweet Wae-Ling Goldstein today?

When Bryan was in elementary school there was an incident.  I had several phone calls from friends of Bryan's parents before he returned home from school.  Boy was I mad the school never called.  I then had a talk with the principal & told him I was giving Bryan permission to use his karate skills to defend himself if it happens again.  I didn't tell the principal the karate teacher told Bryan he was right not to fight back-lol.  The boys didn't even have to write a letter of apology.

I'm still considering getting another cat. A boy.  Boo just loved to play and play and Callie and I don't keep up with her.  so....I'm thinking about it.

I have a cute little orange one with white spats.

I may call and see if the couple I met a couple weeks ago still have Rider.  He's a kitty who climbed up on an engine and wasn't found until Sioux City 44 miles away.   I guess he's a charming little guy

Well, the job that I'm leaving has been posted.  Click HERE (http://www.trl.org/Employment/Job%20Postings/TECH462034-02.pdf) for a .pdf of the announcement.  At one point, I was told that it was going to be posted internally, that only current library employees would be eligible to apply, but evidently that was not correct.

Any takers??

I find it very interesting that Kitty Vixmom had six nipples and seven kittens and everyone got along fine. Kitty Miss Karen has six nipples and four kittens, and they fight over them.

These are the things one thinks about when one's cat wants to go outside at 3:30 a.m.

I am quite grateul for the word "Kitty" in these sentences

They're finally done!!   The anamorphic widescreen (but not hi-def) version of South Pacific from PBS have been received by me from my sister's boyfriend and I have made copies of the non-anamorphic (4:3) widescreen South Pacific and TCB's episode of "High School Stories" and am ready to send everything to everybody!

For those who specified the anamorphic widescreen SP, I'm actually going to include the non-anamorphic (4:3) widescreen on a standard DVD-R because the anamorphic widescreen version is on a dual-layer DVD+R.  It doesn't play in my DVD player, but does on my computer and my DVD burner.  So, in case others are in the same situation, I want to make sure that you can at least watch it in some form.  So, here's the list of who wanted what:

Arnold M. Brockman - SP (both versions)
BK - HSS
Cillaliz - SP (both versions) & HSS
Edisaurus - SP (both versions)
Elmore - HSS
FJL - HSS
Ginny - HSS
Jeanne - SP (standard)
JMK - SP (both versions) & HSS
John G. - SP (standard) & HSS
JRand - SP (both versions)
MBarnum - HSS
Sam - HSS
TCB - SP (both versions) & HSS (6 copies)
Vixmom - SP (standard) & HSS

Matthew - SP (?) I have a question mark by your name.  I don't know if you specifically requested a copy or if I just thought you might, but please let me know either way.

I made extra copies anyway, so whether you want it or not, it's not a problem.

So...is everything correct?  Any changes?  Additions?  Deletions?  Just let me know.  It'll never be too late.  I can make more copies or it's not a problem if I have extras left over.

Good Evening!

I went to see The Hold Steady (http://theholdsteady.net/) at The Beacon Theatre earlier tonight. -I won the tickets via a Twitter/Foursquare promotion a few months ago.  I had never heard of The Hold Steady before, and I really wasn't sure what to expect...

What an Amazing show!  At the end of the show, the lead singer, Craig Finn, thanked the crowd for coming, and exclaimed, "There is so much JOY!".  -And there was!
