Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a Naples sort of vibe, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're enjoying hearing about Naples and they prefer Florida to Italy for reasons only they know.
-
And the word of the day is: UXORIOUS!
-
BK, Afrin lasts about 12 hours. So if you take it before you take off, it should last until you land.
-
Oh, I got locked out of the previous day.
-
Jane, they prescribed a special mattress but not sure what the next step is. My step-sister talked to the dr about it; sounded like it might help!
-
And the word of the day is: UXORIOUS!
And The Song Of The Day Is: I LOVE MY WIFE
-
Oh, I got locked out of the previous day.
Me too! I couldn't figure out why I couldn't post
-
"Uxorious" is also that great punchline in "One Wonderful Day" from "Saturday Night." That Sondheim fellow sure has increased my vocabulary over the years.
-
I think it's BK being in a different time zone.
-
Naples' neighborhoods are all suburban with no direct connection to the downtown area. Much of Southern Florida is like that. No one walks. It's too humid and hot most of the year for that. So people retired to the sunshine and then proceed to embalm themselves in air conditioning.
-
My shoulder has been killing me for about 2 weeks. It started when I was sleeping with my arm over my head and Ricky was sleeping on my upper arm. I got a shooting pain through my shoulder. I still have a full range of movement so I haven't done anything except take Aleve, but I wish it would get better. I woke up this morning and there was Ricky sleeping on my arm again

Laura - I went to my first Church Council meeting and ended up as chaiperson of only one committee - and a member of four others......

That's what happens when you go to those meetings.... ;)

You could add that to your "You know you're a Lutheran" list. This is why I avoid church meetings. I ended up teaching Sunday school for eight years after one.

Ok, time to finish my book and get some sleep. Night
-
Well, I have about 200 words left in my paper. The Sondheim quote is gone. A quote from "Ragtime" went. And I think a quote from Pat Nixon in "Nixon in China" will also be outta there.
But it's almost done. That's the good thing.

Vibes to everyone who needs them. :)

Pain free vibes for One and all - why should any of us be in pain?
~~~SUPER DITTO!!~~~
It's 2:45am in Manhattan and I am wide awake.
I just had an intense dream about someone I cared very much for between 1982 and 1987. I am now very melancholic and sleepless.
-
And I'm awake and waiting.
Anthony is also awake and eating breakfast. I can't eat anything. I haven't had anything since 6:30 last night when I ate last. I will survive. There are worse things that could happen. I could have had to prep as if for a colonoscopy but I didn't.
Later, Gators.
Sandra made it a goal to always refer to F. Scott Fitzgerald in all papers. Somehow it was a stretch -- but she always made it fit in somehow.
-
Yes, I guess it could have been worse, Ben.
Vibes for you today!
Wednesday morning greetings! I slept quite well, but woke up at 6am with many things on my mind.
Vibes for DR BEN for surgery & recovery.
Ear-popping vibes for MR BK.
Overcome the Idiots vibes for DR DAKOTA CELT.
I enjoyed watching the Dog Show last night - such beautiful dogs. And the commentary wasn't too bad either.
-
When I went to Blockbuster yesterday I bought THE SOCIAL NETWORK, THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT, DORIAN GRAY (with Colin Firth as Henry Wooten), and MY NAME IS KHAN, a nice Bollywood movie.
I watched DORIAN GRAY first - looked very nice and Ben Barnes was okay as Dorian, but they certainly changed the story a bit, and I never heard Dorian say what makes the deal that makes the picture change.
Then I watched THE SOCIAL NETWORK, which I enjoyed. Interesting. But also pointed out to me what a BIG disconnect there is between me and what is going on with YOUNG people in the world.
I may watch THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT tonight.
-
Oh I also bought TWILIGHT ECLIPSE. I have all three movies now which I will watch sometime.
-
Show vibes for MR BK cast & crew.
Vibes for Ben. Keep us posted!
I had my appendix removed in an emergency operation when I was eight years old. I had had stomach cramps for days and on Thursday evening, I began vomiting in all kinds of different colors. Because my regular doctor didn't have evening hours, my parents took me to another doctor my aunt recommended. Not only did his poking at my lower abdomen cause me to jump to the ceiling, but he went on to freak me out when he shouted, "He's got to be operated on NOW!!!" Fortunately, the hospital was right across the street from his office. My mom and dad never left my side as I was checked in and prepped and wheeled into the operating room. The next thing I can recall was looking out of my recovery room window and thinking I was seeing little Chinese children in coolie hats jumping on and off a Ferris wheel.
Back vibes for DR TCB. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DR Jane, I thought of you last night while watching the social network episode of THE GOOD WIFE. Did you see it yet? :)
-
Good morning, all! I went back to bed around 3:30 and slept fitfully the remainder of the night. The alarm went off at 7 and I slept in. I'm quite tired, and I'd like to spend the rest of the morning in bed but I may be going into City Center, once I hear from Joshie. If I don't, I've got other work at the NYPL.
Tonight, I'm meeting Peter Clem, an old friend from summer theatre, 1970, the friend with whom I stayed most of the first six months of my life in New York in 1979, and the friend who got me into 1980 NYC cabaret life - and work for the Men's Chorus - as a vocal arranger. I haven't seen him in about ten years since he and his partner moved out of the neighborhood, and last week he called me out of the blue. We're going to the Triad tonight to see this Jacques Brel show. I think it's an offshoot of the last Brel revival a couple of years ago, and I think we'll have a good time.
I'll also be waiting word on Ben's surgery, and post once I hear from Anthony.
-
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vibes for DR Ben! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
No Encores! today, but I just worked on my calendar for the upcoming week to help Joshie out before the orchestra reading on the 24th. So, I'll go to the NYPL this afternoon. I expect to hear from Anthony once DR Ben is in recovery.
So, until then I will have a quiet morning and try to wake up.
-
I'm up - had a pretty good night's sleep with really peculiar dreams.
-
BK, re: your ears when flying. Julieanne, who has all kinds of sinus problems, has special ear-pplugs she bought that she wears when the plane takes off and lands and I guess equalize the pressure changes of ascent and descent. Call her and she can tell you specifically what they are. I think she bought hers at the airport.
-
Vibes for BEN for surgery & a quick recovery.
-
Went downstairs to visit the business center to print out boarding passes for tomorrow. The business center consists of one computer and one printer. There was an elderly person using it, apparently for the last hour. So I asked the front desk to do it - they logged onto the Continental site, I gave them the confirmation number and they printed.
-
Warning: Elderly Person On Computer
MR BK - Florida is the only state I visit where I feel YOUNG!
-
I've shaved and will now shower. I'm being picked up at twelve-thirty. Have no idea how long rehearsal is (long enough for a run-through is all I know) and then I have no idea how long it is between that and the first show, so I don't know whether to dress up now or later.
-
Vibes for all in need.
-
Am slowly surfacing today. Had weird dreams in which I felt obliged to become a partner in a business with Philip Seymour Hoffman and two other people even though I knew the business was going to fail.
-
But one highlight of the morning is the new clip posted on www.BlueGobo.com of Teresa Stratas singing Kurt Weill. Always a pleasure.
-

Never trust Philip Seymour Hoffman! :D
I've called the cell and home pgones of DR Ben and left messages. I thought he would be in recovery by now. I will head off to the NYPL and wait to hear from Anthony. I don't have a cell phone number for him, so I can't reach him. I was hoping that he would have possession of DR Ben's cell.
-

Jeremy, whose site that is, is a really great guy! I believe was forced to remove some of his best videos because the Ed Sullivan Show copyright holders claimed he had no right to them. The sad thing is, they may do nothing with them so it's all back into limbo.
-
Jane, they prescribed a special mattress but not sure what the next step is. My step-sister talked to the dr about it; sounded like it might help!
Good! If he has to go into the hospital for anything request one immediately.

I enjoyed watching the Dog Show last night - such beautiful dogs. And the commentary wasn't too bad either.
I haven't been able to watch it yet. I'm saving it for the weekend. I watched the Bernese Mountain Dogs on line. That was fun. I missed the commentary so the only dog I knew was the one that won, which was kind of cool knowing the dog.

* * * * * HAPPY APPENDECTOMY TO DR BEN! * * * * *
When you wake up, DR Ben, you can have all the ice cream you want!
I believe you have confused surgery's. This one is known for having a tube down your nose into your stomach to prevent infection. I suspect DR Ben won't need the tube since this was scheduled & not an emergency.
-

It sounds like it was fortunate your parents didn't wait to see your regular doctor. Kind of funny about your hallucination. :)
-
DR Jane, I thought of you last night while watching the social network episode of THE GOOD WIFE. Did you see it yet? :)
We haven't watched it yet. Last night we watched "Harry" and then an excellent episode of "Castle".

My hiking group canceled this morning due to possible ice as it is cold out and snowed last night. Now I'm deciding to hike here or go to the trails, using Keith's car not mine. I have lunch plans later today I plan on keeping. Again I will take Keith's car.
-
Hey everyone - nothing new to say. Hope everyone is fine and dandy.
Vibes to bk for good travel back to CA
Vibes to DR Ben for his appendectomy
-
I shall now be on my way to rehearsal. That goes from one to four. First show is at six-thirty, so I'll either stay down there and find a nearby restaurant, or I'll come back to the hotel IF Gregory and Linda are coming back - they don't know that they are. If the first show is at six-thirty, I'd imagine the second show would be eight-thirty or thereabouts, which means that I could be back here by ten, which would be ideal.

The new season of SURVIVOR starts tonight. I have not decided if I will be watching this time, or not. I bailed out of last season's about half way through.

Horrible thing: The vile Russell is also back...for the third time in less than what seems like a year.

Well Boston Rob is one of my all time favorite Survivors so I definitely will be watching. And I actually sort of like Evil Russell. He is a quite brilliant player. So I will enjoy seeing what will happen.
-
I got back from the NYPL to a message from Anthony: he clearly doesn't have my cell phone number either. The message was dated 1:41 pm, and DR Ben has come through the surgery so well that he may be going home this evening,
-
Good Afternoon!
I'm up, I'm up... And I'm back from the doctor's office. -Low level inner ear infection. He didn't give me any "real" meds - antibiotics - just some prescription strength ibuprofen - since it appears to already be on it's way out of my body. But at least that explains my fatigue over the past couple of days.

~~~~~SURGERY AND RECOVERY VIBES TO DR BEN~~~~~
Glad to see that bk is enjoying himself in Florida.
-
And sorry to post and run, but I do need to take a nap. I shall catch up in a few hours.
Laters...
-
That's good news about Ben. And Jose!
-
On another positive note, I received in today's post the edit for the Herbert Music for Cello & Piano. I cannot wait to hear it!
-
I am so embarrassed! I forgot that yesterday was the fourth anniversary of my dad's death, and the 14th was the second anniversary of the discovery of John McGlinn's body. No wonder I'm having weird dreams.
-
There do seem to be some interesting contestants this round, so I will check it out...although one thing I didn't need was any more of Russell. Can't stand the guy and he reminds me too much of the step father I had as a kid...what a creep.
-
Wow, it's already been 2 years since John McGlinn past away. Crazy how time goes by.
I wonder if cab driver, Davide, also lives in Naples, Florida or just in Naples, Italy?
"Brilliant" players win, Jennifer. In two tries, Russell has only alienated anyone and everyone who might have cast a "winning"vote for him.
I just discovered this on You Tube, a scene from IT HAPPENED AT THE WORLD'S FAIR w/Elvis Presley, shot in Seattle in 1962. The little boy is Kurt Russell, and that's me to his immediate right. I was an extra, my first "professional" show biz job.
:)
Fortunately, no. All of me was there, but none of Kathy Lee was. She was on vacation, so Joy Philbin was her replacement that week.
My national television debut was on the MERV GRIFFIN SHOW in 1969. The women sitting behind me had made a banner that they held up for Merv to see. So Merv had them turn up the house lights so he could chat with them. My first two minutes of fame.
-
I did not go to work today. I stayed in bed or in the tub soaking or in my recliner. It is days like this that I wish I had a laptop computer.
-
I need a nap badly.
I finally found all of the recording music and it's in order now by category. I really do not want to attend this Brel show tonight, but I do want to see my friend. So I guess I'll try to nap.
My cousin Dan and his son have arrived from Japan and they and Fr. Richard have gone to the hospital to see my aunt. I'm going to prepare a taco dinner for all of us.
I'm not sure why forgetting these evens should be embarrassing. Personally I think it is good you were distracted & not focused on them.
-
I think anyone who has surgery should be allowed to have all the ice cream he/she wants.
Not if it upsets your stomach ;)
Do any hospitals serve good ice cream?
George, when do you hear about CANNIBAL?
Callbacks are tonight and the pot-luck/first read-through is on Sunday evening...of course, that's when I was signed up to work concessions for Kathy Najimy and The Seattle Women's Chorus at the Washington Center! I don't want to miss seeing Kathy Najimy!! :'(
But I think that they might consider moving the read-through to earlier in the day...HOPEFULLY!
-
Some Ben & Jerry's Karamel Sutra sounds really good right now!
My FAVORITE!
Mine too!
I've never had it. What's in it?
-
chocolate ice cream, vanilla ice cream, and a gooey caramel core that runs all the way through, if I remember correctly. I only have it on my birthday.
-
Never mind...found it (http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1239637/ben_and_jerrys_karamel_sutra_ice_cream.html). "Ben and Jerry's Karamel Sutra is a core of soft caramel surrounded by chocolate ice cream and caramel ice cream and fudge chips."
YUM!
-
Ok. Caramel ice cream, not vanilla.
-
I think anyone who has surgery should be allowed to have all the ice cream he/she wants.
I'm hoping for a save here.
And so good to hear that Ben is home, although I can't imagine climbing all those stairs after that surgery! Maybe Anthony carried him, a la Rhett and Scarlett?
Any idea what breed is #13?
-
Oh, i found it: Scottish Deerhound. Nice looking dog!
-
Love the Bernese photos and the big dog getting a hug!
-
I'm glad to hear your store survived, td.
-
And I'm glad to hear that Ben is home. I hope he made it up the stairs. How many flights does he have to climb?
-
Oh, i found it: Scottish Deerhound. Nice looking dog!
Yup. I just found the photo. I personally prefer Irish Wolfhounds.
-
Unusual photo of the Berner. People do seem to love Sherlock's feet so I understand it. :)
-
I just discovered this on You Tube, a scene from IT HAPPENED AT THE WORLD'S FAIR w/Elvis Presley, shot in Seattle in 1962. The little boy is Kurt Russell, and that's me to his immediate right. I was an extra, my first "professional" show biz job.
:)
Are you saying that guy with the dark suite, dark hair, no beard, and dark Complexion is you‽
Yup!
Me at 21.
To his right or to his left?
-
My national TV Debut was outside the Today show with DRs Ginny and Danise!
-
So glad Ben is home! Hope he went up the stairs before the pain meds wore off
Speedy recovery vibes to DR Ben!!
I had quite a day. I spent almost the entire day working on the application for the Nebraska bar. I'm hoping to be admitted so I can work across the river in South Sioux City. It's so close that it's silly I haven't done this sooner. The 40 page application is what stopped me. Well, it's done. I get my fingerprints done tomorrow and will get more documents I need on Tuesday, then I rob the piggybank and send it all in. Whew!
-
I was surprised how quickly the sun came out this morning & melted the snow & ice on the ground. I was able to take my car to the hiking trails. There wasn't any ice there either even though there was still snow on the trees. The views of the snow covered mountains was beautiful.
The day started at 4:45 Am with the cats making as much noise as possible in my room. Never mind that this house is between 2000 and 2500 square feet, they had to have a row in my room. I was so mad that I ended up being wide awake and up for the day. I searched the house for 2 hours for my divorce decree (for the application) and couldn't find it. Then Edith decided today was the day to get all upset with me about things in general. I think we cleared the air, but I wasn't really up to that. Then a client called just to complain and get a bad experience with the security guards at the immigration building "off his chest". His appointment went well, but he was upset the guards weren't nicer to him. Oh good grief.
-
It was a crazy sort of day. None of it really upset me, I'm just tired. I brought some work home. I'm supposed to go to a seminar on human trafficking (enforcement, not how to) but it's going to be 61 degrees so..,.
-
I'm also re-thinking going to San Diego in June for the immigration conference. There is one in St Paul this spring. It would save me enough money to take a trip to New York.....and see a show or two
-
Some Ben & Jerry's Karamel Sutra sounds really good right now!
My FAVORITE!
Mine too!
I've never had it. What's in it?
Caramel and sutra
Thanks. It shouldn't be a problem. I have to find two people to swear to my good moral character, and that should be it. Then I just wait. Sometimes they ask for another document or two, but I think i've got it all. Not sure how long the wait is. Then, of course, I'll have to buy some Nebraska law books.
Evening all!
I'm so very happy to read that DR Ben is doing well but I kinda wish he had stayed in the hospital overnight. I think they try to rush things now days.
Also glad to hear that Mr. BK is doing alright here in our state of Florida. I think he must have brought the warmth back because it was COLD on Monday AND Tuesday.
Oh, and sorry about the rest of your day.
-
Thank you, Dear VixMom for the kind words. I am so very glad to be back among my friends. :)
Now if only the dream I had last night would come true. I dreamed our little lotto group at work won! The big jackpot is up to $101 Million dollars tonight so that would be a dream come true!
We don't play all of the time but when the pot is nice and big we each put in $2.00. There's just 4 of us in the group.
I agree. I didn't think about it much until after going home from the hospital the same day as surgery.
Great news about Ben!
-
G'night!
-
So. . . .
Didn't anyone read or hear the news about Borders today?
I heard they were having problems and was just going to ask you about it. The one closest to my house is closing but I thought it might be because a Barnes and Noble is so close. I haven't seen the news in days. Here's more wishes for continued employment!
I heard B&N was also hurting.
Our travelers have crashed for the night. I was so glad to come back here and find good news about DRs Ben and td.
Did anyone see the poor reporter that had a stroke while covering the Grammies the other night?
-
Thank you, Jane. I made a vegan soup tonight: Tomato Celery Apple. Has a little onion and some veggie stock in it. Just what I needed today.
-
Did anyone see the poor reporter that had a stroke while covering the Grammies the other night?
I saw a story about it. The doctor in the piece as saying it might have been aphasia, though I don't rightly know the difference.
I don't think I will soon forget the look of horror in her eyes as she was trying to speak but nothing understandable was coming out.
-
Had to go to a pie-tasting this afternoon. French coconut, maple pecan, lemon meringue, sweet potato pecan, chocolate ice box, egg custard -- and those were just the ones I tasted. I know the place had good cherry and apple, even Boston Cream, but I was trying to be good.
Oh, man. You HAD to go. I wish I HAD to go.... the maple pecan, the lemon meringue, the egg custard! I can feel my sugar rising as I type this! :)
From what I read, they never even took her to the hospital! They said she was doing ok but I think she really, really, really needed to be checked out.
I looked up aphasia. Basically, if you watched the video which I didn't, what you saw is aphasia. It can be caused by various problems, including a stroke.
It doesn't say that I need a certified copy, so I'm having them fax me a file stamped copy. If I have to redo it, i will
I agree she needed to be checked, unless she already knows what caused it.
I laughed over needing two people to swear to your good moral character. If a person can't find two people they are in trouble.
I also needed a total of 15 references - 3 from every place I've practiced, 3 lawyers in town and 2 clients. I think it's a bit drastic
Lemon meringue, egg custard, Boston Cream, oh my!
No, just have to pay $950.00
Yup. I only gave them 1 from Phoenix it's just been too long since I was there. I mean seriously, calling someone you haven't seen in 20 years and saying "Hi!, want to be a character reference for me?" I think not
Well folks, it's that time.
Vibes to all who need them.
So, while I was buried deep in my paper, I missed the Jewish film festival in town, which closes tonight. The hit, or so I'm told, was a film called "Jews and Baseball." I really wish I could have seen it.
Oh, darn! It's hard for me to keep up with where everyone is. It has more dates on Florida; I'll see if any are near Naples. Glad to hear it was a hit!
Thanks Danise, but I haven't practiced law in Florida.
I am back from the Triad, where I saw something called "Jacques Brel Returns," an offshoot of the last Off-Broadway revival of Jacques Brel Is Alive & Well & Living In Paris. I am not a fan of a lot of the rethinking of material in that revival, although I am a huge fan of Brel. This cabaret night bothered me because of the constant shift between English and French lyrics, although I have to say in its defense a lot of Brel's original songs vere between French and Flemish.
I liked three of the singers a lot - Robert Cuccioli, Natascia Diaz, and Jean Brassard - and really disliked Karen Kohler; nothing she did amused me or my friend. The pianist Rick Hip-Flores was wonderful.
It was also great to catch up with my old friend Peter Clem, and I think we will initiate a once-monthly dinner, just so we don't lose touch with each other for another 20 years.
The new season of SURVIVOR starts tonight. I have not decided if I will be watching this time, or not. I bailed out of last season's about half way through.
Good thing: Boston Rob is back
Horrible thing: The vile Russell is also back...for the third time in less than what seems like a year.
Well Boston Rob is one of my all time favorite Survivors so I definitely will be watching. And I actually sort of like Evil Russell. He is a quite brilliant player. So I will enjoy seeing what will happen.
"Brilliant" players win, Jennifer. In two tries, Russell has only alienated anyone and everyone who might have cast a "winning"vote for him.
I disagree that brilliant players win. Russell made it to the finals twice. I don't think the best players usually win.
Cillaliz, I don't know if I would be able to round up that many references. Rounding up two for grad school was a lot.
No need to apologize. I live in San Antonio. I'm originally from Louisville and used to live in Florida. I don't expect anybody to keep up with all that roaming.
JEWS AND BASEBALL will be near Danise, at Baywalk Muvico in the Tamp Bay area...
-
OH shoot, yes...our associate producer Caroline was there, too...wish you could have gone. She's from there.
I've also been working on some stuff that was shot at the Chick-fil-A there. I am a corporate whore. Anything for money.
Watching "One Hour with You," a Maurice Chevalier-Jeannette MacDonald movie. I can't stop grinning, except when I'm laughing.
At one point, Charles Ruggles is ready to go to a party dressed as Romeo. He finds out it's not a costume party, so he asks his obviously gay butler why he did it. The butler replies, "Because I've always wanted to see you in tights."
-
Oh yeah, but just looking ahead since sometimes people forget to look and we keep updating it. The Facebook listing, which I maintain, is the most up-to-date, but our website has all the places it's played, past and future. Over 100 festivals so far and over a dozen theatrical dates. Pretty cool!
