Here I go again.   I just wrote a few lines and it disappeared. I guess I hit the wrong button.

Greetings from London!  My flight arrived early, but there was quite a long line at passport control (I think that's what they call it here).

I took the Heathrow Express train--it only takes about 15 minutes to Paddington Station in London instead of the usual hour or so on the regular "tube."

Usually the hotels won't let you check in till 2 pm, but luckily I was able to check in at about 11.

I've read that when you fly to Europe you should stay up as late as you can the first day so your body can adjust to the time change.   But since I probably only slept about a total of 2 hours on the plane, I do believe a nap is called for.

I don't have any specific plans for today.  I'd like to see a show tonight, assuming I'll be able to stay awake.

That's it for now!

Good morning, all! I've been up since 7:30, but I had an important email to write and send. I'm ready for my second cup of coffee and about to clean off my writing table to begin some second edits. I need to call my friend Richard this morning and talk to him about his medical tests and diagnosis. Thank you, all, again for the vibes and good wishes.

DR cillaliz, I'm still craving oatmeal cookies.

DR vicmom, how do the new bookshelves look?

DR JRand60, have you given your report yet?

Today feels like a Sunday to me, but I will be working at home on second edits of EILEEN.  I need some exercise, so I may take a walk shortly.

These word games remind me of one of Betsy's New Yawker friends who came to our wedding.  Betsy was talking about our sister-in-law Ahuva (the feminine form of the Hebrew word Ahava, meaning Love), and Margie shouted out, "Ahuva?  Ahuva?  That sounds like a vacuum cleaner!"

OK, said "friend" from yesterday now says I am Queen and can do whatever I want on my birthday (I didn't ask her permission, but whatever on that one) then told me she was bringing 3 people to my party on Saturday.  I wrote back a nice email explaining I already have invited more than I am comfortable with and that of course she can bring one guest, but please limit it to that for this party.   She really likes to have everything done her way and most people just let her.  I am not going to do that. She is SOOO much like my sister it makes me want to scream

DR Jrand, I have given up politics.  Seriously. I change the channel when it comes on and I don't participate in conversations about it.  Last time someone tried to get me into one and asked who I like I told them I don't like anyone at all.  That caused a lot of laughter, but it ended the discussion.  The other day I watched a friend totally blow up about something a politician said.  I used to be like that.  I can't believe how much more sane I feel without politics all the time

Thanks JRand and Laura.  She did ask if it was ok, I just said No. I did tell her I'm planning to have a party when Joe comes up and since at least one of her friends donated that they would be invited then.  I thought that was a tactful way to handle it.

DR Laura, I'm at about 30. I owe a lot of people since I haven't had a party since I moved here, and since most people haven't seem my house,  I have only had a couple regrets.   I haven't heard from 4 or 5 people, but at the "friend's" request, I sent out a reminder and a map to my house yesterday and 4 others I hadn't heard from said yes.  The forecast is really hot...like 90s with over 100 heat index, so I'm expecting most people will want to be in the air conditioning.  My house is not "open concept" so it makes it a bit difficult to have that many people in the house at one time. I know it will be fine after I clean from top to bottom, but adding 3 more is a bigger inconvenience that it would be if we could all just sit outside on the deck

I don't really have anything I have to do today, but there are some things I want to do today. And since I want to get most of them done before the afternoon rush hour...

DR MBARNUM did you try unplugging your player for awhile?

If you enter your brand name and the error code into GOOGLE, sometimes someone who had the same problem has posted a solution.

Ya, I tried the unplugging thing. I looked up the error and found all sorts of "suggestions," but the most likely one seems to be that a dvd-r is stuck in the machine, which may very well be the case.

Haven't decided if I will attempt to operate on it myself, take it to a repair shop, or just buy a plain old DVD recorder without the VHS part....unfortunately, I have a hand full of vhs tapes I haven't transferred over to DVD yet.

They took some more pictures last week during tech in order to include some of the new cast members, as well as to get some shots of some scenes they did not get in the Fall. So there may be some more popping up on the site this week. Additionally, they also filmed a few more segments of the show, and those should be incorporated into some of the videos soon too.

I walked around Picadilly Circus, Leicester Square and Covent Garden before going to see Betty Blue Eyes, a musical based on the film A Private Function, which starred Maggie Smith and Michael Palin.  It was very silly, but lots of fun and even had a couple of memorable tunes.    Afterwards I wasn't sure where the nearest Underground station was so I just followed the crowd.  Well, I ended up walking over Waterloo Bridge, which I think was a little out of the way, but it had a great view of Big Ben and the London Eye (ferris wheel).  It's almost midnight here--so... good night!

I'm hoping for more Kickstarter pledges very soon.  I know a couple of multi-multi millionaires.  I have done both many, many favors over the years.  When they needed something, I was always there for them.  Do you think either of these people could be bothered to even pledge twenty dollars?  I mean either of them could fund the entire thing and it would be like dinner money to them.  I'm done with both of them and it would be very wise of each not to ever write me again.

THE EGYPTIAN booklet has a very nice essay by Julie Kirgo.

I shall watch the BLU RAE later this afternoon......

It is 93 degrees here....and I don't mean the music group.

There was a group called 93 Degrees?

DR Cillaliz - It's your party, and let them cry if they want to!

;)

Are there photos from your production online?

Yes, there are! There are even a few videos - including one where you can sort of hear me playing in the background (and I think you can see me in it too, sorta.)

Playbill.com, Broadwayworld.com, etc., have been posting highlights on their sites, but they're all accessible via Arena Stage's own website. Just CLICK HERE (http://www.arenastage.org/shows-tickets/the-season/productions/oklahoma/media/). :)

Is that our Jose in the red shirt?

I walked around Picadilly Circus, Leicester Square and Covent Garden before going to see Betty Blue Eyes, a musical based on the film A Private Function, which starred Maggie Smith and Michael Palin.  It was very silly, but lots of fun and even had a couple of memorable tunes.    Afterwards I wasn't sure where the nearest Underground station was so I just followed the crowd.  Well, I ended up walking over Waterloo Bridge, which I think was a little out of the way, but it had a great view of Big Ben and the London Eye (ferris wheel).  It's almost midnight here--so... good night!

Lovely! :)

See, that doesn't work for me - you should be able to not capitalize the last name - that's how it should work, i.e. was Mark haggard?

Who is Mark Haggard?

Co-director of The First Nudie Musical.

Back from the four-mile jog.  I had a chicken salad sandwich only for lunch, so I just burned off 400 calories of that - so I'm thinking a nice halibut filet for dinner - that's only about 350 calories all in.

Just made a very weird treat that was way too good:

Cauliflower Popcorn: Take a head of cauliflower and cut it into florets, toss with 1/4 cup olive oil and 1 tablespoon salt. Roast in the oven at 425 for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. (Mine cooked much faster because the head was smaller.) Remove when brown. Eat immediately.

It really looks and tastes a little like popcorn.

Good for you, Cillaliz. Do you know how many are coming?

Thanks JRand and Laura.  She did ask if it was ok, I just said No. I did tell her I'm planning to have a party when Joe comes up and since at least one of her friends donated that they would be invited then.  I thought that was a tactful way to handle it.

Very tactful & nice you will have a party when Joe visits.

Thanks.  Haven't heard back from the "friend" yet.  Not sure if she's checked her email today.  Don't care actually

1) Olive oil is a "good fat".
2) I'm sure that a good amount of it stays in the bowl and on the roasting pan.
3) It's only a lot of olive oil if you eat all the roasted cauliflower in one sitting. ;)
