Well, you've read the notes, the notes were succinct and to the point, and now it is time for you to post until the succinct and to the point cows come home.

And the word of the day is: AESOPIAN!
-
Welcome thirty-one GUESTS.
-
I gotta tell you.

Morning all.
That is all.

I was having posting problems last night - no matter what I tried to post it would say - " you have already submitted this post" then it would kick me out - after four tries I gave up

I saw Rex Smith as Frederick in Pirates of Penzance on Broadway waaaaaaaaaaay back was it the late 70's or early 80's?

Good morning, all!
Good news on the success Gardenia show! Kudos to all.
I went to bed at 9 and slept until 7 this morning, so I got around 10 hours of sleep, which I needed, and I am taking a day to myself to regenerate, regroup, and refresh. Around noon, I'll run down to the Lincoln Center NYPL, looking for the missing KNICKERBOCKER HOLIDAY scrapbook.
I checked Fed Ex, and the three cartons were delivered to the Dublin address. I'm waiting for confirmation that it's everyhing we shipped and not a shipping error. Today, I'm tidying the apartment, putting things away, and working on other projects. I have no idea what fresh hell will arrive on the EILEEN casting front, but I'm starting to understand why John McGlinn could be so difficult to work with producers!
I awoke this morning to find an email from DJ, our Appalachian Christmas creator, and we have a producer and performance dates in November-December in Hilton Head! This is most exciting. Perhaps the employment pendulum is starting to swing the other way for me. Keep those fingers crossed.
TOD: I'd like to see Europe; I've never got any further than the British Isles. Next week, Dublin!
-
Up early for a quick TV shoot this morning before work. I think I'm supposed to appear to be shopping. At 7:30 a.m. Long, long day ahead.
Sounds like fun, JohnG. Hope it all goes/went well.

Or me!

MBarnum - Thanks for your post expressing surprise that this can still be going on. Also to others who posted vibes on my Unemployment Insurance situation.
I don't really get how they are not time-barred, how the Unemployment appeals of the decisions in my favor after full analyses below can still be available to them after 16 months, and I've asked that the Division of Labor stop it before it goes on any longer - but we (the country and the unemployed) are in an unusual situation with no recent precedent - that since due to Federal legislation benefits can potentially last as long as 86 weeks, so they maybe they (former employers) somehow feel as long as they can keep the harassment going, they'll try. I have no idea what bargain rates their lawyers are giving them, but it does feel somehow in my rough estimates that they must be spending almost as much in legal fees as the amount of Unemployment benefits at this point.

Be Gone vibes to the torturers of DR FJL.

TOD:
ROME!!!!
DR MBARNUM that music clip you posted yesterday had the most RE - VERB I have ever heard on a single song.....I hope MR BK listened to it.....I think Guy Haines should record a song in that exact same production style!!
-
Act One went okay last night......tonight we do the WHOLE show for the first time......
Ensemble is still very shaky on the lyrics to LUSTY MONTH OF MAY and THE JOUST....how can that Be? HOW CAN THAT BE???
-
And the page brought his pants out to Sandi ripped from the waistband to the knee....a vertical rip......and said it just happened while he was taking off his boots.....
So I have to go pants shopping today.
-
Thursday morning greetings! Today I have a lunch date with DN/Goddaughter Lauren and her Mom to finalize the plans for the bridal shower they're hosting for Mary Linda on August 13.
-
Since I decided to use a PERSON as Horrid.....and bought a costume.....I am very happy......it was very funny last night....and it doesn't hurt that our Pellinore is a fine character actor.
-
DR FJL - I am so sorry about your continuing unemployment hassles.
-
In Camelot. ;D
-
Sagramore is getting a sash and I have to get the Herald's hands off his hips.
-
Nice photos DR JOSE!
-
Sounds like the Gardenia Show was another big hit!!!
-
WBBL
-
DR Elmore - fantastic news about the Hilton Head booking!
-
DR Elmore - fantastic news about the Hilton Head booking!
It's a week run in Hilton Head, Nov 7-14. Since we had talked earlier of December dates, I wasn't sure if DJ had given me the November date incorrectly. We'll rehearse here before heading down. I hope we can keep as much of the NYC cast as possible. It will be good to gauge how the show works with an audience, possibly get a recording for future work on the piece.
-
TOD:
I think I'd go back to Edinburgh.
I was there on a tour back in 1996, and the place fascinated me. We were there for less than a day, so I'd like to see more of it.
-
DR Cillaliz, congrats to you and your client.
DR FJL, the situation is appalling!
-
On the other hand, since Scotland released the Lockerbie bomber back to Libya, maybe not.
I was really pissed off at Scotland when they did that.
>:(
-
TOD:
Maybe I'd just go up to Montana to see the Little Big Horn.
Being a Western buff, I'd enjoy that.
-
TOD - since France & Germany are already on our fall agenda, today I'd go to London & environs.
-
And the word of the day is: AESOPIAN!
And The Song Of The Day Is: FABLE
-
TOD: Considering the weather in Phoenix this time of year, I think I'd like to be in Cape Code. Or Cape may. Or Cape Anne. Or Cape Horn. Or anywhere but here.
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I'm feeling better.
-
However, I did "call in" today. I was scheduled to play today's understudy rehearsal, but since I'm sure that spending five hours in the frigid air-conditioning* of the theatre yesterday didn't really help me at all, I asked George, my conductor, if he could cover the rehearsal. He was more than happy to let me stay at home and rest and recuperate before tonight's show.
I actually have some minor fixes to take care of in my keyboard part, so I can take care of that today too. -Which is a good thing, since my "sub" goes on this weekend, while I audit the conducting chair.
-
Thanks to all for the frustration-be-gone thoughts!
-
As for the Topic of the Day...
If I could go back to anywhere I've already been: Melbourne and Sydney, Australia for the food(!), the chocolate(!!) and the people(!!!). I'd also like a few weeks back in the Philippines, but this time centered on a schedule of my own interests instead of familial obligations.
As for places I've never been: New Zealand, and almost anywhere in Europe.
-
Thanks for all the Get Well Vibes. They're working their magic as always.
-
DR elmore - Congrats on the Hilton Head run of the Appalachian Carols project/show! -I'm guessing you'll be playing at the resort there that has a theatre? -That's always seems to be the one place where when someone says they booked a show in Hilton Head, that's where they're playing.
-
bk - Congrats to you and your Gardenians!
-
DR Jose - I loved the OKLAHOMA! photos! I'm beginning to have doubts that Richard and I will make it to DC for this run, though :-\
-
And...
I think I'm going to go back to bed for a bit.
Laters...

Kritzerland at the Gardenia 12 was wonderful! I ended up sitting at a table with Alet Taylor and her husband. She insisted we had met before, but I told her I had only seen her perform many times, both at Gardenia shows and in "Nudie". She said something about how it's always fun to sing about dildos. I told them both I would miss hearing them sing tonight, but she said she was happy to relax in the audience for a change.
Poor Melody Hollis always gets stuck with the songs with the most complicated lyrics, but again, she came through without missing a word. After the show, she was talking to Alet and I mentioned about the lyrics, and she said, "None of the adults ever want to do those songs, so I end up with them." She's very precocious. Anyway, as I was listening to her song, "Postcard" I thought, this is such a weird song, and sure enough, afterwards Bruce said, "isn't that the weirdest song you've every heard?"
This show had the least familiar cast of all the shows - I think I only recognized one person, and the least familiar songs - I think I only recognized one song. But it was delightful just the same. Everyone chanting, "what is it fish?" all togther was hilarious.
The Guy Haines song was wonderful and Bruce didn't seem nervous at all. His voice was in very fine form. This was the first time I'd heard him sing in public since "Dance a Little Closer" at S.T.A.G.E. And Mark and I didn't even know who Guy Haines was then, so it had indeed been a very long time. I hope he sings again at the Gardenia soon.
-
Congratulations on the great Kritzerland show! I can't type any more, because the sick kitty is all over me (and the keyboard). p;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;hn[[nttr ';;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;['/;bn elocution

Did that cat just type "elocution"? :)
-
I find it rather off-putting that your cat is giving you speech notes.

Off to do a couple of errands before meeting Lauren & Jayne @ Chipotle - bye for now!
-
Yes, that was him typing. He knows more big words than I do.

Melody has had much wordier songs than Postcards. :) The adult who usually gets the wordiest songs is Alet - don't know why.

Hello, DR SneezyKitty. Do you have any pets?

Happily for me, Evening Star is not wordy at all - in fact, it's one of the simplest songs to learn ever.

Just had a call from Barry Pearl with some rather shocking and tragic news - my friend Annette Cardona passed away this morning. I've known this wonderful woman for over forty years. She was Rosemary to my Finch, she was Cha Cha in the movie of Grease, and more recently she'd been a therapist. We had her in our LACC gala a few years ago, and she did one of my panels a couple of years ago. It was all very sudden - cancer - found a month ago.
-
BK - what sad news. Condolences to you and all her friends and family.
-
My condolences, BK.
-
Sincere condolences.
-
I'm so sorry, BK. Such sad news.
-
BK - I'm so sorry to hear about Annette. Condolences to all who loved her.

Sorry to hear about your friend. All the best and condolences to her family

I had a good time at the NYPL, and on my way home I stopped at Barnes & Noble to buy several Dublin travel guides. Now I have to run to the market, and then I can chill out.
-
I got home to find BK's dad email about his friend Annette and this lovely one from Joe in Dublin:
Scores and parts are beautiful! We have them in our possession. There is nothing like beautifully presented music. Wonderful Larry, big admiration to you. Jonathan is not sure I'm ok. He s an engineer by trade, what can I say, he'll never know real artistry.
Jonathan is Joe's business partner, and they are our Irisg producers.

I was having posting problems last night - no matter what I tried to post it would say - " you have already submitted this post" then it would kick me out - after four tries I gave up
That happened to me last week. I thought I was screwing up, so I copied the entire post and reposted as a whole new post.

gotta keep saying --- I;m lucky to have a job lucky to have a job lucky to have a job if I say it enough maybe I can convince myself its true
It is true...my friend Kathy was completely blind-sided last Friday when her "position was eliminated" and she had to leave right then. Absolutely no warning. She wasn't fired for cause, but was treated like she was. :P

As the "silent partner" in the hosting of this bridal shower for Mary Linda, I've ordered a cake at Central Pastry and 2 balloon bouquets at Flowers by Roger. I also played at Kathryn's a bit and shopped at GFS.

We're having company tonight, so i'd better get cleaning.

Back from an interesting rehearsal with Melody, about which more when I finish eating something.

Considering how hard you work, vixmom, and the hours you put in on your job; your bosses should keep saying over and over again, "How lucky we are that she works here."

Great Photo, DR Ginny!
-
I'm very tired. I worked prepping for the hearing until about 2:00 and then got up at 6:00 to get ready and go to court. I think it went well. We're not expected to win, but I don't know. I think the evidence came in extremely well for us. The court took it under submission so don't know when we'll have a ruling.
-
Ginny, that's a lovely photo!
-
It was a crazy week. I don't often have two important and very different hearings that close in time to each other.
-
TOD...oh I don't know. At the moment the only place I want to go is to bed to sleep as long as possible.
-

So, i had a rather enlightening phone call from my brother Randy today. His comp[any's bank appraised my dad's property at $748,000. Then, e told me thay he asked the realtor to price it at $750. Macbeth, ever greedy, ever scum, told the realtor to price it at $850. It will never sell!
I also told Randy and Jo that they should come to Hilton Head in November. I hope they do.
-
Randy also told me that the Macbeths have been talking about a trip to Ireland, and he's sure they will be jealous.
I hope they die of envy!

Thank you to DRs Cillaliz, George, TCB, and JMK for the nice comments about the photo.

True...and I'm sure that she'll need to. Her husband works, but for the last few years, they've been raising alpacas as a side business. They would eventually like to make that their main source of income, but I don't think that they're there, yet.

And now, I must leave work. I'm going to my sister's to pick up Seattle Storm basketball tickets for tomorrow night, as well as my sunglasses and some other stuff that I forgot at her place on Monday when we all went to Seattle. Then, to home for some TV and a bit of laundry (but not Fry or Laurie).
Be back later!

It was quick. Less than an hour. For a "reality" show, it featured a make-believe farmers market. Very funny. Can't divulge more. I signed 12 pages of confidentiality.
Great Palin song, FJL.

Larry, you're in a great location and I remember seeing the hotel when we were there in 2005. It's a wonderful place. You're staying in the heart of Dublin.
I may have to sneak into your luggage. I'm small. I can fit!!!

Lined up the house sitter/cat sitter for tomorrow night. Going back to the lake and to Sweet Corn Days in my home town
-
TOD- I have never been to most of New England. I would love to go there

Although it may seem strange considering I represent people from all over the world, I don't really have a great desire to travel outside the US

A five hour nap is better than a three hour tour....a three hour tour.

DR Jose, glad you're feeling better. Sleep can do wonders

I've been working on my marketing lately and decided to try something different. I'm now an underwriter for "South of the Border" two hour Spanish language programing on our local public radio station. It's locally produced and is a call in show where people can do requests etc and features music from Central and South America. I'm thinking it will be a good place to get my name out

gotta keep saying --- I;m lucky to have a job lucky to have a job lucky to have a job if I say it enough maybe I can convince myself its true
It is true...my friend Kathy was completely blind-sided last Friday when her "position was eliminated" and she had to leave right then. Absolutely no warning. She wasn't fired for cause, but was treated like she was. :P
At least, if she was laid off, she should be able to get UC. (Sorry about that, FJL)
Nothing to be sorry about, I'm collecting my unemployment checks, since I won on the lower level - but I can't figure out the logic of this appeal process.

Up early for a quick TV shoot this morning before work. I think I'm supposed to appear to be shopping. At 7:30 a.m. Long, long day ahead.
Sounds like fun, JohnG. Hope it all goes/went well.
It was quick. Less than an hour. For a "reality" show, it featured a make-believe farmers market. Very funny. Can't divulge more. I signed 12 pages of confidentiality.
Great Palin song, FJL.
Thanks, JohnG!
