Well, you've read the notes, the notes were lazy and in a dickie, and now it is time for you to post until the leopard-spotted cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BALDACHIN!
-
Finally mamaged to pass on the parcel to my neighbour. I called early this morning and a woman answered the door. I didn't know there was a couple living there - I'd never seen her before but she took the parcel and, like the man, she didn't seem to speak English. Why neither of them called on me for the parcel is baffling but maybe they come from the sort of country where they only feel safe indoors.

And the word of the day is: BALDACHIN!
And The Song Of The Day Is: SUNRISE,SUNSET

TOD:
I enjoyed Columbo when I watched it, but I was never a big fan of the show.
My favorite detective (or cop) shows lean toward the more gritty: NYPD Blue and the Law & Order franchise.
I also like Blue Bloods.
-
Good morning, all.
-
TOD: My favorite "Columbo" featured Ida Lupino as a fading star who kills her husband but doesn't remember doing it. It was a "Sunset Blvd." ripoff, but she was wonderful in it. I even remember the movie she watched over and over again. It was a musical called "Walking My Baby Back Home."
-
Good Morning all
-
I like the episode where the killer got away with it.
Janet Leigh and John Payne were the guest stars. There were clips from (I think) Walking My Baby Back Home (or was that the song they were using?)
-
Part of my problem with TV detective shows is that nine out of ten times, I can spot the killer as soon as he makes his first entrance.
It's usually either:
1. The "name" guest star whose role, initially, seems to be a nothing part. Then, at the end, he gets his big revelation scene.
or
2. The son, brother, cousin or friend who is hanging around the victim's wife/husband, who doesn't seem to have any real purpose for being there except to console. Why would the producers be paying this actor if he/she wasn't going to be revealed later as the killer?
I know that my method has nothing to do with good storytelling. It has to do with the economics of Hollywood, particularly television.
::)

Good morning, all! I think I slept well, although I have memories that my dad was in one of last night's dreams, something about a parking lot, a huge truck, and the Macbeths.
Speaking of them, I was snooping on Facebook and found that Lady M has begun a webpage for their band "The Geriatric Bluegrass Group" (not the real name; it's vainly called "The Lady M Band). I debated leaving rude messages and decided not to.
Today, I need to place a few calls about delivering these Herbert CDs to the Cole Porter Trust and other locales, and I can begin the Act Two vocal scre for DEAREST ENEMY.
More coffee!

Monday is shopping day!!!
-
Good Morning. It's Monday, and it feels like it.
-
DR JMK - your link to the news report yesterday was most excellent!
I hope DR JANE is feeling better.
LOL....when Mr Jason looked in his empty book yesterday - I thought of Katharine Hepburn in DESK SET when Gig Young FINALLY asks her to company dance....and she says: "I'd better write that down." And Gig says: "Yes, you'd better." And Katharine gives him one of the funniest reactions EVER....
I love that MOVIE!!!!!
-
Amen DR KERRY.
-
The meeting was okay....we also had treats afterwards....and I was chosen to direct THE CURIOUS SAVAGE, which is one of my favorite plays......so we shall see how THAT turns out.
It will be in July.
-
I do not like Columbo.
But I do like The Snoop Sisters, Mike Hammer, and Barnaby Jones....although quality varies from episode to episode of each of them.
-
Good morning.
-
Monday morning greetings! It's raining in SW Ohio - again.
-
I feel the same way DR CILLA LIZ feels about last night's TAR......
Amazing and satisfying result.....for a terrific finale next week!
-
Raining here too DR GINNY - so there's more headed your way
-
TOD:
My dad and I were HUGE Columbo fans. My particular favorite episode starred Ruth Gordon as the murderess.
I generally enjoyed most of the shows in the NBC Mystery Movie rotation--MacMillian and Wife, McCloud, Hec Ramsey and The Snoop Sisters (which has been available on DVD for some time now but is way overpriced IMHO.)
-
Does anyone remember Mrs Columbo? I recall that show being pretty much a stinker.
-
Finally mamaged to pass on the parcel to my neighbour. I called early this morning and a woman answered the door. I didn't know there was a couple living there - I'd never seen her before but she took the parcel and, like the man, she didn't seem to speak English. That and the fact that they're part of an international sleeper cell. :P
-
I was actually a little disappointed with who went home on TAR last night. I have found them to be uniquely positive and decent competitors, if a bit too religious for my own personal taste. I really can't stand Ernie and Cindy, but maybe that's just because Cindy always looks like she's just sucked down a few dozen lemons.
-
TOD - one of my distinct college memories, especially junior year, is watching MANNIX with my roommate and her boyfriend on Saturday evenings after Michigan football games.
-
Richard and I have lined up our Monday vicar's-day-off date: we're going to Bed Bath & Beyond to check out a new coffee maker, to Bath & Body Works for me to buy stuff to donate to a gift drive for Montgomery County foster kids, and to see the movie HUGO, which we heard reviewed very positively yesterday. Somewhere in there we'll probably grab a bite to eat somewhere.

My last "work Monday" of 2011!
-
My last "work Monday" of 2011!
I used up most of my vacation time tending to my mom at the hospital so I have only seven days left for Christmas this year. I have no idea how i'm going to get anything done.

Hi Dan (the Man)! Glad to see you back.
-
I woke up in the middle of the night with a headache, so I turned on hulu.com and watched Paula Dean deep-fry a ham. I could feel my arteries harden just watching.
-
There are reports that it is snowing in north Scottsdale. I live in south Scottsdale, so no snow here.
-
Does anyone remember Mrs Columbo? I recall that show being pretty much a stinker.
It was dreadful.
Good to see you back, DtM.
-
I, on the other hand, am up. It is currently sixty-two degrees in the home environment - heat has been turned on.
-
I like the episode where the killer got away with it.
Janet Leigh and John Payne were the guest stars. There were clips from (I think) Walking My Baby Back Home (or was that the song they were using?)
You have a much better memory than me. It was Janet Leigh, but Ida Lupino did another episode of the show, I'm sure.
-
BE WELL VIBES FOR DR MICHAEL S!!!
-
Thank you DR Jose. I'm still iffy, going to hike Sherlock & then swim. I hope I'm successful.
-
Does anyone remember Mrs Columbo? I recall that show being pretty much a stinker.
Yes & yes.
-
DR Jrand I appreciate the good wishes.

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I need to do some laundry this morning... While it is still morning here in Glendale.
-
So... I somehow ended up at a "special interest establishment" last night after I left Intelligentsia. -Who knew that bars in L.A. had late night Happy Hours? ::)
-
In any case... I had a very good time last, and J. Lo, Selena and Lady Gaga really put on a good show. ;)
-
As for the Topic of the Day...
The only ones I remember are the ones with Roberta Peters - I think it was the first time I heard "Sempre libera". And the one with the film score conductor/composer. I think it was a special movie of the week.
-
That's all I got right now. ::)
-
And I really do need to get my laundry done now. So...
Laters...
-

Did you find lost DR MBarnum there?

This has been a weird Time Warner day and I may end up E&T this week. Two weeks ago a young man from Time Warner called me and told me that my account was in trouble, and I expaned to him that I'd been looking for my statement to pay them but I couldn't find one and I wasn't sure that I'd received any from the post office. Could he send me a copy. So on Tuesday, Nov 29, I received a statement, I made out a check for two months totalling around $329+ and dsropped it in the post box and 82nd and Amsterdam.
Today, around 11:45am, Time Warner turned off my service. The statement said nothing about payment being in their hands by Dec 5, because I would have walked up the street and paid their account center or called them and given them a credit card number. The young lady in accounting was very sweet, took all of my information and turned on the service. If they don't receive my check by Wednesday, they're shutting me down again. And congress is letting the postal service worsen. It's ridiculous.
Color me really pissed.

My photo won't post.

So, someone put a box of nativity leftovers in my office. I don't remember these guys in the story: The Baker, The Piper, and The Milliner.

Book due to the publisher Friday. And the countdown begins.

My New Favorite Martin-Blane Song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYqspy3LVSg) I did this at the benefit for the Oregon Food Bank on Saturday night and I can't get it out of my head. :)

I guess that made you happy!

The guy on the left looks like Mandy Patinkin and the one on the right like Owen Wilson. I don't know who the one in the middle looks like.

Maybe the one in the middle looks like the Lady Gaga that Jose saw Saturday.

TOD:
Favorite Columbo episodes: Too many to say.
Other favorite TV detective shows: Maigret with Bruno Cremer of course.

Just back from having had lunch with a few friends. I had parsnip soup followed by hot roast pork with salad in a small baguette plus several beers.

Feel better vibes for DR Michael S. Sorry you've been so sick. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

re: last night's TAR
DR Cillaliz, i could not disagree with your comment last night re: TAR more than i do. :)
Besides the fact that my favorite team was eliminated. Besides the fact that said team was the strongest by far. Besides the fact that this finale will have fairly incompetent competitors ...
What actually bugged me the most was how it all went down. If the 2 teams that arrived 2nd and 3rd had actually found the clue and arrived at the pit stop then it would have at least been fair. But what happened was the most unfair thing i've seen in a while on TAR. Ernie/Cindy told their drive specifically to go to Balboa statue. And said driver ignored their pleas and took them to a totally different place.
From what i've been reading it seems likely that production had these taxis from the same company waiting for all teams. So these drivers were all friends. They probably didn't realize that this was a competition. But to me this is a production error and not in the spirit of the show. I know some people like a sweet story (football player and his wife). And some people like the teams to all be equal (so you won't know who will the finale). I personally like the strongest best team to win.
-

Good Afternoon!
Laundry is done!
*And I snagged the dryer that runs for two cycles (24 minutes!) on ONE quarter! :)
-
And now I have some planning and packing to do for my trip to San Francisco. I had posted a tweet about my upcoming jaunt, and a very nice hotel tweeted that I shoud check out there award-winning restaurant. Well, I tweeted back, "How about a heavily discounted nightly rate?"... They're latest response: "We'd love to have you stay with us. We'll see what we can do." Stay tuned. :)
-
As for TAR:
I've only seen 1/2 an episode of this season.
Not a bad thing. Not a good thing. Just a thing.
-
I don't think I've seen a full episode of "Glee" yet this season either.

Hi Dan (the Man)! Glad to see you back.
Ditto! Welcome back, Dan!
-
Speaking of Time Warner, this morning was unbelievable. For about fifteen minutes straight, the service kept shutting off then going on, like someone was having fun throwing a switch back and forth - I was literally watching the modem do this. Of course I called but after twenty minutes on hold I went and did the four-mile jog. Then I ate a meal, then picked up no packages (even though some are due) and now I'm back home doing a few things.

TIME WARNER VIBES FOR DR ELMORE!!!
I'm curious, if the office is so close to you why did you trust the post office? ;)

The saline pool definitely has more chlorine added than it used to have. I need to get goggles. My swim went well again. I've always hated goggles & don't even know where to find them this time of year. Guess I need to make some phone calls, once I can see again.

If you read my post again, you will see that I was not alerted to an emergency; I was told nothing about the service being terminated.
-
Apparently we really do have one person who feels they must show up on You Tube whenever a new episode goes up so they can "dislike" - it's so childish and pathetic. Actually, there are two people who do it, but person two hasn't shown up yet - maybe one of the two decided to grow up.

I did wink & I was referring to the fact you can't seem to trust your post office. I would be tempted (tempted not necessarily do it) to hand deliver all my local checks.
-
I'm calling to find out where to buy goggles. The burning in my eyes is worse.

Jane, if you're not looking for prescription swimming goggles (which I've heard are quite expensive), you could search Amazon.com. They have a lot of selections. But if you want to find a local place to try them on, after you do that, you could check prices on Amazon and see which has a better deal.

Thank George. I have to try them on for the fit, plus I need them before I swim on Friday. I called Bi-Mart in Ashland & they have some. They guy who helped me also said the Y sells them. I called the Y & they keep them in a drawer behind the front desk. Too bad they did have a sign about this at the pool.
When I called the Y I asked about the extra chlorine & she said sometimes they have to shock the pool. If the goggles don't work (I've never been able to tolerate them in the past, but then I've never been this motivated to use them) I inquire more about the water treatment.

I was just going to say that a lot of pools/gyms with pools sell them.
I don't love the feel of goggles. But i would never swim without them. Even if the chlorine didn't bother me (which it does) i still like to be able to see underwater. I love goggles. And definitely try them on first. I've tried some before and they were not a good shape. And water seaped in. Not good!
-
Jennifer my concern is I will not be able to see without my glasses & trip walking around the pool. I've always been able to swim with my eyes open & do so which is why they are hurting so much now. Extra water splashed into my eyes while I was in the hot whirpool after my swim.
Do you have any brand suggestions, good or bad?
-
Didn't Christmas Day used to be the day when Hollywood premiered their class films, their epics, their Oscar contenders? So, why are they opening a film called THE DARKEST HOUR, with an all-star cast of Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, Max Minghella, Rachael Taylor?
I don't get it.

I'm calling to find out where to buy goggles. The burning in my eyes is worse.
Any sporting goods store should carry them all year.
-
We might have a little snow Thursday. I used to get amused at my coworkers looking out the window and panicking at the sight of a few flurries.
-
Hope your eyes feel better soon, DR Jane.
-
Bi-Mart that has them does have a sporting goods section. I'm also looking for shoes we can wear in the water on our trip. I picked up some pricey ones in town but have decided they aren't comfortable enough & not work the price. Bi-Mart only carries those in the summer.

Okay guys, let's get busy with some posting!

We should have sun the next couple of days. A week from tomorrow is the day snow is predicted. I hope not as we have company driving down from Portland & she will need to get over the passes.
-
Okay, I'll try and help raise the post totals, TCB.

I'm going to NYC this weekend. Any Big Apple dwellers want to get together?

Watching a Golden Girls rerun. I enjoy that show more than most of the new ones.

I'm seeing Hugh Jackman's one-man show.

I'll enter the Book of Mormon lottery. I may just win this time.

I'm not sure about On a Clear Day. The word is not good, but it's got a great score and they added additional songs, such as " Too Late Now." Of course nobody can sing "She Wasn't You" like you-know-who.

Yes, I have read a lot about it on line. I would enjoy seeing it, too. However, seeing Hugh Jackman would be my first second choice

Yay! A new funny episode of THE CLOSER!

How come I have the same number of posts on each entry ? It looks like it's happening to you too, TCB.
-
BK--have you thought of asking BB to take part in your Outside the Box series?
I did ask him to take part - to do Captain Keller in episode one - he never responded. But he was one of the first people to leave me a message after seeing it and I think he regrets not having responded. We'll see which episodes we do in NY next time.

Actually, she played Elphaba in the original "Wicked" workshops but they didn't cast her when it went to Broadway. I'd read that it was because she didn't have any Broadway credit (at the time).

Here is the Broadwayworld review of Lost and Unsung:
It is a well-known fact that during the creation of a new musical, songs will come and go. Rewrites are a painstaking part of the process and there are many reasons why a song – even a good one – may never make it to opening night. As the story develops it might no longer makes sense, the character who sings it could be cut from the show, or a better song may come along to replace it.
So what becomes of these “lost songs?” Many find new life in recordings produced by Bruce Kimmel on his Kritzerland label, and this week, the Los Angeles City College Theatre Academy is featuring thirty of these gems in Lost and Unsung, An Evening of Cut Songs from Great Musicals and Great Songs from Flops, directed and narrated by Kimmel.
Professional artists Alet Taylor, Damon Kirsche, Melody Hollis and Will Collyer join members of the theatre academy, including Brett McMahon, Harrison Meloeny, Tara Collins, Sarah Fontenot, Julia Rose, and Alexis Williams in songs you’ve never heard from shows like Gypsy, Company, Sweet Charity, Smile, and Drat! The Cat!” Lost and Unsung runs for six performances November 30 - December 3.
The evening’s many highlights included Collyer singing a touching “So Little Time” from Barnum, and a heartbreaking interpretation of “Orphan in the Storm” from Celebration. Kimmel’s comments about Celebration included an interesting side note that the masks for the production were created by none other than a 16-year old Julie Taymor.
Damon Kirsche was in glorious voice and provided that sparkle of old Broadway/Hollywood glamour that makes every role he takes on magical, as heard in “Ten Percent,” the agent’s song cut from Chicago, “Multitudes of Amys” cut from Company, and the showstopping finale “Make the Most of Your Music” from Follies. I’m still waiting for someone to write him a role set in the 1920s/’30s that captures all of the things he does so well and lets him put his stamp on an original character.
Taylor channeled her inner Ethel Merman on “Take it in Your Stride,” originally meant to be sung by Annie to a poster of herself in Annie Get Your Gun but cut because the star didn’t want to learn a new song, and Williams gave us the lovely, haunting “Starfish” from La Strada, which was originally sung by Bernadette Peters in her first big Broadway starring role. Other highlights were McMahon as a young Scrooge singing “Penny By Penny” from A Christmas Carol, Hollis’ “I Want to be a Rockette” from The Showgirl Musical, and a humorous, contemporary update of “Man & Wife” and “Guess We May As Well Stay Married Now,” both from I Do! I Do!, sung by the company.
A special highlight on opening night was an appearance by Richard M. Sherman, of The Sherman Brothers, who wrote the songs for Walt Disney’s Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Happiest Millionaire, and Charlotte’s Web. Mr. Sherman performed a comedy song cut from Mary Poppins entitled “Chimpanzoo,” complete with kazoo, that brought down the house.
Though some songs never make it to opening through no fault of their own, it isn’t hard to see why others are cut from shows, as in the case of “Filbbertigibbit,” a song written for Lizzie in 110 in the Shade that was replaced by the much more appealing character piece “Raunchy.” “Evening Star,” on the other hand, was originally cut from 110 in the Shade but later restored thanks to Kimmel’s insistence that the song was just too short and needed a bridge. It’s a great story about how he asked his friend Harvey Schmidt to write one and then got him to convince Tom Jones, whom Schmidt was certain would never write a lyric to it, to actually do it. The result is a gorgeous song that is now included in all productions of the show and works beautifully, proving that persistence pays off.
Kimmel told many stories like this throughout the night and it is thanks to him that so many of these great songs have not been lost. They are the true stars of Lost and Unsung and for those that love to hear the inside scoop, and relish a chance to enjoy little known but terrific songs seldom sung live, this is a night to remember.

And the Backstage review:
The multitalented performer-composer-producer Bruce Kimmel is taking us on a trip down memory lane in a new musical revue. Well, sort of. Except for fanatic musical-theater buffs who are well acquainted with seldom performed show tunes, most audience members of “Lost & Unsung” will find the bill of fare unfamiliar. Drawing material from two of his series of CD recordings, “Lost in Boston" and “Unsung Musicals,” Kimmel directs and narrates a cabaret grab bag filled with songs fitting two categories—memorable tunes cut from great musicals, and worthy numbers from famous flops. Presented at Los Angeles City College’s Caminito Theatre, Nov. 30-Dec. 3, and featuring students and seasoned musical-theater veterans, the show is an unpretentious delight.
Kimmel and music director-accompanist Jose C. Simbulan emphasize lighthearted fun—seasoned with occasional rueful ballads—in a vehicle headed by local luminaries Alet Taylor, Damon Kirsche (pictured here), Melody Hollis, and Will Collyer.
A special treat at the opening performance was a brief appearance by the venerable songsmith-showman Richard M. Sherman, who with his brother Robert B. Sherman, created some of the finest film music of the 1960s-1970s, composing many Disney classics (“Mary Poppins,” “Bedknobs and Broomsticks,” “The Jungle Book”) and countless other fine scores (such as “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”). Singing, playing the piano, and using a kazoo, Sherman performed a wonderful ditty called “Chimpanzoo,” which was cut during production of “Mary Poppins.”
The dynamic Kirsche created magic with the truly terrific “Ten Percent,” which was cut from Kander and Ebb’s “Chicago.” As this snappy song, written for an agent character who was dropped from the book, recalls the numbers crooned by sleazy lawyer Billy Flynn in this musical, it’s not hard to see why it was not kept. Kirsche was also bedazzling in the lovely “Multitude of Amys,” from “Company,” one of the more familiar numbers amid this revue’s generally obscure roster of songs. And Kirsche provided additional Sondheim pizzazz in “Make the Most of Your Music” which had been dropped from “Follies.” The ever-enchanting Collyer (right) had his moments in the spotlight, particularly in two heartrending showstoppers—“Orphan in the Storm:” from Schmidt and Jones’ “Celebration” and “So Little Time” from Cy Coleman’s “Barnum.”
Among outstanding group numbers was the effervescent “Smile” from the failed Broadway show of the same name, and the smashing, “Take It In Your Stride,” originally written for “Annie Get Your Gun,” led by an effervescent Taylor.
Kimmel and Taylor shined in the sprightly duet “A Wonderful Life” from the musical adaptation of Frank Capra’s film classic, “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Taylor and Kirsche stopped the show in a glittering duet, the fabulous title song form “Sherry!,” the musical version of “The Man Who Came to Dinner.” Reservations are available at (323) 953-4000. ext. 2990.

Well, on that note (a PAGE SIX F# DANCE!!), I'm heading home from work.
Until later.

We are back from our delightful Monday date. We got away a little later than expected, so we only got to Bath & Body Works before the movie. We loved HUGO! Went to one of our favorite restaurants, Bravo Italian Cucina, for dinner and then to Barnes & Noble for some Christmas shopping.

DR Sam, sorry to hear about your boss's wife

Good evening.

I don't have much to say, except that I am sick and tired of Mitt Romney calling me and from what I am hearing from others they are too. My mother hung up on him tonight, I have a friend who said every time the phone rings they ask if it's Mitt the Sh*& again. I hate that the caucuses are early, it's just that much more time to be annoyed by politicians and pollsters. I hang up on both or don't answer the phone.
-
The Romney robo calls make it sound like it's him....Hi! Sorry I missed you, this is Mitt Romney, blah blah, I'll call again....blah blah blah
What a pain in the butt.
-
And being on the "no call" list doesn't stop political calls.
-
Let's see. We had a good day at the office. I'm getting a little backed up again, but that's ok. We'll have the holidays with lots of time when we aren't in the office. I do have a jury trial and a major appeal that are both happening right after New Years, so I'll be busy
-
I'm really loving the oatmeal cookies I made yesterday...maybe too much
-
What else do I know.....

I used to watch Columbo

Hi, DR Cillaliz - yes, I'm here watching an episode of CASTLE on DVD with Richard.
-
Our CASTLE is over now, so I think I'm going to sign off and go to bed - 'night!

-
AH, I watched CASTLE tongiht and am now watching THE CLOSER on DVR

I've been on the computer a bit less lately, I set up the new computer at a desk in the livingroom, It's not as convenient as the laptop in the recliner so I tend to get more done. Now I'm in the recliner with the laptop, lol. It's so much more comfortable

Cillaliz, we turned off the ringer on our phone and turned the ringer on the handset to very low. We can hear the messages as they come in, though. I suggest The Drinking Game.
Or The Oatmeal Cookie Game.
-
Not Brigitte Bardot.
Or Bill Bixby?
I was going to say Brenda Benet, but I wasn't sure everyone would know who she was.
Brenda Benet was married to Bill Bixby, but I believe they were separated. She was appearing on Days Of Lour Lives. Their son died tragically. Shortly afterwards she committed suicide.
-
If anyone would like to hear a voicemail from Mitt, I'd be glad to email it. I have voicemail to email so until I delete I have them to share, lol
-
Thank you everyone for your health vibes.
My voice has almost returned. I do hope when I go to work tomorrow I don't over work it.
-
I hope you feel better tomorrow, Michael S.

Did I mention that I'm going to see "An Evening With Garrison Keillor" on Thursday? I'm very excited about it. I'll be in the third row center and have a ticket to the pre-show reception. don't know if he'll be at the reception, but I'm hoping he is. If so, i'll try to get a photo. I've see A Prairie Home Companion in person, but this isn't Prairie Home, just Garrison. It should be a delightful evening

Good Evening!
So... My flight out of Long Beach leaves at 7:00am tomorrow. Of course, since the airport shuttle services insists(!) on getting you to the airport two hours early, they are picking me up at 4:15am. UGH! First of all, LGB is truly a small airport. Second of all, I don't think they open the terminal until 6:00am. I'll be getting there around 5:00am. Oy!
But I'm all set to go to San Francisco tomorrow morning! :)
-
In any case...
When I headed out earlier, I hopped on the 780 Metro Rapid Bus to Hollywood. I got off at Hollywood and Vine, and then walked down to Sunset to the Arclight to purchase a ticket to "Hugo". Since I had almost two hours to kill, I walked up to Umami Burger (http://umamiburger.com/) for their signature Umami Burger and some onion rings.
Then since I still had a bit more time before my movie, I walked up to Hollywood, down to La Brea - past the premier for "New Year's Eve" - down La Brea - and then back around to Sunset. It was a nice lap.
-
As for "Hugo" - or "Hugo Cabret" as it was listed on my ticket - I loved it. A beautiful and magical movie. I went in knowing nothing about it except that it had been received some praise from the critics. *And while watching the movie, I realized why the commercials for the movie don't really tell you much about the movie - and that's a good thing.
I caught it in 3-D and found the 3-D effects used for all the right reasons. It was not gimmicky, it was not intrusive. It truly added some depth and dimension to the film.

I'm calling to find out where to buy goggles. The burning in my eyes is worse.
Any sporting goods store should carry them all year.
DR Jane - Do you have a Sports Authority or Dick's Sporting Goods, etc. near you?
...Or you could check at the desk at the Y. ;)
-
So, someone put a box of nativity leftovers in my office. I don't remember these guys in the story: The Baker, The Piper, and The Milliner.
Sounds like the makings of a dirty joke.
A milliner, a piper, and a baker walk into a stable...
Every time I look at the milliner, I think that's a fireman.
-
And...
Since I don't want to get a few hours of sleep tonight...
Goodnight.

My boss's wife passed away from her injuries.

Sam, my condolences to your boss on the loss of his wife.
