Dinner!!!
We had meat loaf and red potatoes and macaroni and cheese yesterday. And there is plenty of everything left for today. So we shall be enjoying some more of everything!!!
Vibes to Doug R!!!!
That was quite a storm we had here yesterday. It left us 0.0 inches of rain.
I just checked my bank account on line and was surprised and pleased to find my Federal tax return deposited. There it will sit (in savings) until I decide if I want to use any of it.
I have to pay New York State this year and I have mailed in the return with instructions to withdraw the payment on the last possible day of April 17th.
Watching a Herbie Hancock documentary that's been in the stack for a few years. Don't know many of the people he's working with, but Wayne Shorter is spectacular and there's just some great music.
I've had a subconjunctival haemorrhage! A broken blood vessel in the eye. I had one about 30 years ago and that time I flew into a panic and rushed to the hospital where they told me it's one of those things which happen for no obvious reason and is not serious - it takes about a week for the eye to clear. It doesn't look pleasant though. Now, where are my dark glasses?

If Hammer was still cranking out vampire films, you could have picked up a few days work as an extra.

Hammer is actually back in business, with that new Daniel Radcliffe WOMAN IN BLACK film.

Love Milton Nascimento. Will look.Watching a Herbie Hancock documentary that's been in the stack for a few years. Don't know many of the people he's working with, but Wayne Shorter is spectacular and there's just some great music.
JohnG, if you can find them, you must, must, must get the two albums Wayne and Herbie did with incredible Brasilian singer-songwriter Milton Nascimento. One is under Wayne's name and is called Native Dancer (Columbia) and the other is an A&M album simply called Milton. Both are available on CD, though Native Dancer's mastering is wonky.
In other news, I am trying to stay positive about our current tsuris, though I may be front page national news soon. :)
Wednesday morning greetings! Richard and I, along with my Mother, are invited to Rob and Mary Linda's for dinner tonight and I'm very excited. I had a quick tour of their apartment when I picked ML up one day, but this is our first official visit.

That opening few seconds of "choreography" brings to mind the word "dysentery". ;)
It took me most of the morning to type up all of my notes on "I Beg Your Pardon." I guess I will get to the taxes tomorrow.I just put on a couple of short ribs to braise. I think that's all I'm good for for the rest of the day. Thankfully, they cook for close to two hours.
Unfortunately at his opening show he got so drunk he passed out on his organ by the third set and Holiday Inn pulled the plug on the tour.

Is that a euphemism?
The liner notes were hilarious, saying that Walter's second set was written mostly by Johnnie Walker and that his head literally flopped down on the keyboard during the third, and that he was out cold for the rest of the night. Somewhat horrifyingly, two of the "Cy" sisters from Quarteto em Cy (AKA The Girls from Bahia) had been flown up to sing with him, and they evidently were left standing there, mouths agape.Get you can't just improvise a graceful exit after something like that.
Elmore, glad you enjoyed the show. I love the piece, but I've hate the choreography on the three numbers I've seen so far from this production.
I really enjoyed Ralph Macchio in the national tour of the Des McAnuf production, despite the fact that the projections did not work during the first act.

I think I hit an Elmore trifecta tonight. Watched the Lonny Price-directed "Sweeney Todd" with Patti LuPone and Victoria Clark.
I can't remember what you think of Patti, but I know your opinions of Lonny and Ms. Clark.
I am back from the revival of HOW TO SUCCEED, which I really enjoyed. I don't know Nick Jonas from Menudo, but he is really quite wonderful as Finch. I adored Beau Bridges who made mw smile every tme he appeared, and I loved his "chipmunk" bit. Michael Urie is really funny as Frump, and I was thinking what a good Cornelius he would be in HELLO DOLLY! if he follows the career of Charles Nelsob Reilly. My friend Ellen Harvey was a hoot as Miss Jones, and in the pit I saw my friends Scott Kuney and Grace Paradise. Larruy Goldberg, who was the MNYMF MD for "The Brain From Planet X" led the tiny but mighty band.
Whil I'm not a great fan of the director's over-choreographed numbers. and he really blew the use of the kazoos in "I Believe In You," I thought this revival head and shoulders over the one with Matthew Broderick.

Of course it was better; Matthew was not in this revival.

Last evening, one of the local news programs was showing this PSA that had been produced to promote a school levy in support of the city of Issaquah's Special School Election. It showed a group of students singing "A Hard-Knock Life" with different lyrics promoting the School Levy. Just as I was telling myself that the school district was pressing their luck using the song without permission; they interviewed the man who wrote the new lyrics. The guilty party was Martin Charnin who had moved to Issaquah several years ago. Gee, I gues he can do whatever he wants to with his lyrics.
I need to go to bed, but I am afraid that no one else is going to post.

Is it his tune as well?
DR TCB - Happy Endings is pretty funny tonight, too.
Does your hubby brew the tea or does he use a tea bag?

Does Victoria play Sweeney?
It is basically just a Q and A session.
I discovered today that if you want a really good cup of tea, you have to remember to include the tea bag.Does your hubby brew the tea or does he use a tea bag?
we have a proper "Brown Betty" tea pot that we heat with boiling water before starting the tea a,d which sits under a tea cozy for the required 5 minute brewing time, but we do use tea bags for everyday use - we do have tinned teas and tea balls for special ocassions but its a lot of mess and bother to use everyday
No surgery can be scheduled until I have my follow-up appointment with the MRSA doctor next Thursday.

Ms. LuPone has a minor role in tonight's other feature, "Witness," which I haven't seen since it came out.

I just realized after more than 50 years of singing that darn song that the song actually describes a tea kettle not a tea potTechnicalities.
The new Daedalus catalog came in the mail today and it features both seasons of 'Downton Abbey."
thank you for the Vibes Jane --my sinus (sini?) are driving me MAD!!!!! (not a long drive admittedly)

Marked down books, dvds, etc.The new Daedalus catalog came in the mail today and it features both seasons of 'Downton Abbey."
what is the Daedalus catalog?
Just purchased the Blu and Ray of the complete Downton Abbey series - but from the UK. Apparently the PBS versions are severely edited.
No, the US release is of the cut versions, at least that's my understanding - plus only season one is available here.
