Well, you've read the notes, the notes phoned home, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently phoning home trying to figure out where home is.
-
And the word of the day is: ANACOLUTHON!
Smoke on your pipe and put that in.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Wednesday morning greetings! Richard and I are off to Ohio's north coast today because I have a meeting tomorrow at the Cleveland outpost of DR Ben's employer.
-
Good morning, all!
I slept very poorly, following the huge explosion last night over an email I sent as a reply to a colleague that pissed off another person. The other person then sent me an email beginning "who the f**k are you to answer my question like that?" Since, to my knowledge, I hadn't had any email from this person yesterday or answered any question of his, i was completely puzzled by the attack. I still am. So, that began a round of unpleasant emails that kept me awake longer than I would have liked and ended what I thought was a good friendship. It doesn't make me happy.
So, I'm lying low today. I will meet at some point today with my colleague Curtis over the ROBERTA scores and what needs to be accomplished in preparing this recording. I will finish my chart for Act Two.
Looks like the DVD market is now forcing customers to purchase Blu-Ray discs or suffer. I dislike intensely being pressured to purchase new equipment but the search for a nonregional blu-ray player has begun.
-
good morning to all
-
I've been pulling up the giant weeds - which is hard work and I'm now exhausted. Time for a cup of tea.
-
;D
-
Good morning.
Beautiful Wednesday to everyone.
;D
-
Good morning, all.
After those notes, I feel I must acquire E.T. sooner rather than later. Namely, today.
Didn't see it till word of mouth had spread over the first few days, but finally got to the Dome, and then the Picwood. This was one of the great L.A. movie-going "occasions". Like THE EXORCIST at the National and then the Fine Arts. And JAWS.
-
{{{{{Hugs}}}}} for DR Elmore!
-
Lar, sorry to hear about your "friend" It seems to me he overreacted.
Glad to hear your eyes are OK!
-
DR SAM!!!
-
Better day vibes for DR ELMORE. Venus, Jupiter, and Mercury are all in trines - so people who think they are in charge will be annoying until Friday.....you can set them straight on Saturday.
-
I guess I have to see ET again......I can't have been wrong all these years....
-
The director gave me the night off tonight...... Tomorrow night is the run thru of the entire play! Last night I once again tripped over the hanging bar that has been on the floor for a week or so.... That makes three times. I hope they finally get it in place so I can run into it rather than tripping OVER it.
-
Happy Wednesday to everyone!
-
Good morning, all.
Welcome back, DR Sam!
Happy hump day.
-
Elmore, could your account have been hacked?
-
We watched ROCK OF AGES last night.
:(
-
Okay, going E&T now to get out and get stuff done. See y'all tonight.
-
The trouble with films like E.T., along with JAWS, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK is that I've seen them so many times that they've become over-familiar and I don't know that I can cope with seeing them again.
-
Elmore, could your account have been hacked?
Alas, no. It became in the series of emails a personal attack on how difficult I am and how I drive people away. It will resolve itself, perhaps to neither's satisfaction, but I feel that this former friend is under a lot of stress. I have moments where I get upset with friends, family, colleagues - as I'm sure they do with me - but perhaps if this person last night had phoned me rather than sent an email beginning "who the f**k are you" we might have talked through the problem. By the last emaiis between us, the damage was pretty bad. Unfortunately.
-
We watched ROCK OF AGES last night.
:(
I'm sorry. But the words "Tom Cruise" on the label should have warned you in advance.
-
We watched ROCK OF AGES last night.
:(
I would rather eat ground glass with a Drano chaser.
-
I think I really need to watch E.T. someday. Not sure how it is that I've missed it all of these years.
I haven't even seen the Bollywood version yet!

BK question:
When the film company wanted to make the deal with the actors in the commercial you were in, what if one of the actors had since quit acting and could not be located. Would they have been unable to use the commercial clip then? Or would the un-locatable actor just have to take what was offered, once he or she was found?

Many years ago, I saw the movie ANALYZE THIS in a theater, and noticed in one scene that Robert DeNiro was watching a commercial on TV that featured my client and friend, Dan O'Herlihy.
The next day, I called Dan and asked him if he had given the studio permission to use that clip in the film, and he said "No".
I don't recall all the details of what happened next, but the studio wound up paying Dan a very sizable amount of money because their legal department had screwed up by not getting a release, and Dan sent me a very nice commission check as a "Thank you".

Good day one and all...

Vibes to one and all... and I hope you day goes better dear Elmore...

I apologize for being E & T all day yesterday. Nicky had a medical crisis yesterday morning. Fortunately, I was able to press mys sister into service to take my to the Vet. We both came home yesterday afternoon and we both crashed for the rest of the afternoon and part of the evening.
-
I have been trying to ketchup with all of yesterday's posts, but it didn't help that I read today's notes thinking they were yesterday's notes, and kept wondering why everyone was blabbing on about their childhoods when they were supposed to be Asking BK Questiona. Now I think I have figured it all out. I will read today's post this afternoon when I return from therapy, and hopefully, going out to lunch.

I don't know how that works, actually. Maybe something about making best efforts to locate?

How do you really feel? Don't be shy. ;D

The pool man is here so I discussed with him the fact that the remote device for the pump and heater and stuff is spazzing out and not working at all properly, but he didn't know enough about it to help, so his brother will come by - he installed the new equipment and programmed it so hopefully he can get it working properly again.
-
I think Pogue is not a fan of E.T. either, Jrand - not everyone loves it and there are some who actively hate it and that's what makes horse racing, E.T.-wise.

DR JohnG, here is the trailer which may or may not make you want to watch it. The child in E.T. is changed to a mentally challenged young man in India's version.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBpZH-CFgZ0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBpZH-CFgZ0)
It was a super hit in India, but like E.T., I guess it never interested me enough to get around to watching it. But, I am sure one day I will do so.
-
On the other hand, I will soon have in my posession the DVD of the Bollywood version THE DESPERATE HOURS, which is one of my favorite oldie films.
The Hindi version is titled 36 Ghante (36 Hours).

Wonder if there is a Hindi version of The Far Pavillions?
-
And I have returned home from Toyland. I had a good meetng with my colleague Curtis, whose show TRIANGLE is being showcased in thisweek's NAMT Festival, finished the last score for ROBERTA, and finished my recording breakdown charts, which I will redo tomorrow.
Thanks to Curtis, I have around 12 charts to proof so we can start freezing this show.

DR MBARNUM I think someone sent you a copy of that movie some time ago.

See Si Sue Cy.
Now I want to watch The Jack Benny Show

How is Nicky DR TCB?

The Rat Race arrived yesterday. Beautiful cover photo on the CD....and nice photos inside with the notes as well.

I've very sorry about your e-mail attack, Larry. :(
As for the DVD/Blu-ray crap, the library where I work is having the same problem. We don't buy Blu-ray titles, even if the DVD/Blu-ray combo pack is the only way to get the title. I have to try and find an Amazon market seller who only has the DVD and get them that way.
:P I say.
-
We watched ROCK OF AGES last night.
:(
The (non-Equity, I'm sure) tour is coming to the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, here in Olympia next year.
I'll usher for it. ::)

Back from a nice lunch (caprese sandwich) and walk. Feel much better.
Ready to tackle the afternoon and then get the heck outta here and get home!
Expected in today's amazon.com delivery: "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" (Blu-ray)
-
Back from a delightfully delightful lunch with Miss Alet Taylor. Also sitting nearby was Lloyd Schwartz (son of Sherwood, creator of Gilligan's Island) and actor Jerry Houser.
-
Already finished the bulk of the busywork, so that's good!

Single DVD's are getting more difficult to find/buy.
-
In today's mail, I got the no-frills director's cut of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS andSeason 7 of BONES. I also got the new soundtrack release of Disney's CINDERELLA with demos of seven cut songs.

We have arrived in Richfield, a southern 'burb of Cleveland, OH. We had several stops to make on our way out of town and we stopped for a nice lunch just north of Columbus. We went to Lehman's, a self-sufficiency outfitter in Amish country and to the Smucker store in Orrville. I think we'll just walk to the jernt next door for dinner and call it an early night.
-
Page 3? Oy and Vey
I, of course, have nothing to contribute, not even a witty question for the esteemed bk. :(

Have some shoo fly pie with ice cream! Oops! Tell Richard to have it.

Time to find some dinner.
-
Finessing mixes is starting earlier than planned - at five-thirty. That's good - we'll finish earlier.
-
DR Dakota your memories of visiting your grandparent's in rural ND sound like a story out of a children's book on the perfect visit to Grandma's house.
-
Finished writing an opening number for one of the upcoming Outside The Box episodes - I'd written the other two numbers last February, but wasn't happy with not having something to open with to set the tone as it were. I got the idea for this about two months ago, and even got the tune for the first four lines - then I finished the lyric but couldn't figure out how to set it correctly, until I figured out that the form of it was not right. I added three lines before the first four lines and that fixed that, then I rearranged the lines after the first four lines, cut them down and now it all works splendidly and the music came very quickly. I sent it off to the guy who transcribes and does the piano tracks so hopefully he'll get to it shortly and this will be one of the two we shoot in three weeks.

I think the trailer tones down the cuteness quotient so as to appeal to a wider audience, rather than kids. Bollywood movies usually have several different trailers, focusing on different aspects...action or drama or romance, etc. They like to cover all bases.

Finessing has been pushed back to six-thirty and will probably just end up being at its original time of seven.

No shoo fly pie, DR Elmore, but we did enjoy our German/eastern European entrees.

Page four? Four pages?

Today I tried something new for lunch. A turkey burger. It was oke, but not anything I'd never need to eat again.
-
And you know what's interesting? More fat grams than beef - how can THAT be? Less calories, of course.
-
Let's get a frenzy or two goin' on or Shirley there will be a bitch-slapping to be reckoned with.
-
I bought E.T. and PROMETHEUS (3D package). Going to watch a little of each shortly. It's that kind of an evening. A little of each.
-
VIBES for TCB's DC Nicky.

Ask BK:
The Blu-ray of THE FACULTY is on its way to me, but it's the Echo Bridge one and I remembered after the fact that you were checking out a Canadian one. Was there any difference? I can return this one if advisable.

I haven't even seen the Bollywood version yet!
Mr. Barnum, there are some things that are forgivable, but never seeing E.T. is not one of them. You may not even enjoy the film (some don't), but you must see it. Next you are going to tell us that you have never seen THE WIZARD OF OZ.

Nicky had a urinary blockage that could have killed him if we hadn't gotten it taken care of in time. They knocked him out, managed to drain the bladder and remove some backed up poop, and I was able to bring him home. He didn;t speak to me for the rest of the day, but he is much better today.
-
Well, I'm off to see Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story (http://www.capitalplayhouse.com/). I know the director and a couple of the actors. It's a jukebox musical before jukebox musicals were called jukebox musicals. I'm sure that it'll be good.
Until later!

Healing vibes for dc Nicky

I will be E & T this weekedn
-
our silver anniversary is on Wednesday but we are going away to celebrate this weekend --- just the 2 of us
-
The Vixter will be busy at the NY Comic Con
-
I am sure that the vet's office is not used to senior citizens with red-rimmed eyes and sniffles bringing in their kitties to be treated. I get very emotional when one of my children is in pain. Nicky has kept me sane during these last 18 months, and I couldn't deal with the thought of losing him. Fortunately, this vet is wonderful and the whole office staff is very caring.
-
It was pretty funny when my sister and I were bringing Nick home. He was using swear words that I had never heard before. He was not a happy camper and he didn't want to spend another minute in his carrier.
-
I am really worn out from therapy today. Thank you all for your good wishes about Nicky. I am afraid that someone else will have to handle the frenzy this evening.
-
G'night!
-
Oh, okay I will get us to five.
-
Hello vixmom, I didn't see you there. Hugs to you and the vixettes.
-
Getting closer.
-
One more.
-
Page five!
-
Now.................
G'night!
-
goodnight sweet tom! Have a better night!
-
I'm not sure I've seen "E.T." all the way through either.
-
But I have see "The Wizard of Oz" several times. MD'd it twice - maybe 3 times, I can't remember.
-
One should take in a scene at about 00:48:00 on the Blu-ray.
-
Ask BK:

The Echo Bridge seems better to me.
-
Oh, dear, we haven't had many frenzies and I'm afraid I am not happy that we are only on page five of five pages.
-
I thought the finessing would be harder than it was - mostly we worked on the drum sound and that took about thirty minutes to get it to where I could tolerate it - I wasn't fond of his snare or the way he played it, but it's so much better now. The actual finessing of the mixes went pretty quickly once the drum sound was better - we got eight of the fifteen songs done. I may nitpick them further, but don't know that until I hear them again today. So, seven more to go and then I have to figure out the song sequence.
-
So not one person will help with posts? Have I got that right. Right have I got that? Disgusting.
-
Well, I suppose we'll have to settle for one of our all-time lowest posting days.
-
I've been out all evening. I am too old to be out this late.
-
Correct. You should be home posting lovely pictures and pithy thoughts, not necessarily in that order.
-
Even late-night stalwart George has turned into a little WUSSBURGER.
-
I think he's due for a bitch-slapping from here to eternity and hell and back.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Well, as Babs and Donna said, Enough is Enough.
