Well, you've read the notes, the notes had the onset of on set, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently on set, filming a MOOvie.
-
And the word of the day is: VERSICOLOR!
-
Why I oughta...

Tack.

I feel a song coming on.

Morning all.
That is all.

-
Morning. :)
4:46 am here. I feel cold. Should get up at this time more often.
Off to work and 90's in the valley. Done with summer, go away.
-
Great posting yesterday.
I annoy myself all the time. ;D
-
Not much thinking going on here, it's too early.
Off to work.
Watching the debate tonight.
And then sleep, sleep, sleep.
Maybe popcorn with the debate. 8)
-
Wonderful vibes for today.
;D
-
Good morning, all.
Great to have you back, Sam.
Long day ahead of me. Doctor's appointment this afternoon, interview for a freelance story, a holiday wine tasting, dinner out. Oh, yeah, and work, plus work on the personal business. I'm already tired thinking about it and I just woke up.
-
Good morning, all! I could not get to sleep last night, so I ended up sleeping in an hour longer than I liked.
Yesterday afternoon, the two charges for $97+ that were made last Tuesday were refunded to my account, so that takes care of two thefts. Before I head down to Toyland, I will stop at the bank to file claims against the two charges on my debit card that are now posted to my account. God knows how long it will take to see that $120+ returned.
On the good news front, the date for the Big Meeting with the Man From Philadelphia and my colleagues has been set, all of the basic wrk for ROBERTA is in the bag, and my new stove works mighty fine. I hope the new fridge is as successful.
DR ChasSmith, when do you fly to Los Angeles?
-
TOD: The list is nearly endless.
A few that come to my foggy brain this morning (I initially typed "bran," and no, my bran isn't foggy):
Think outside the box
Drink the Kool-Aid
Let's strategize ...
Low-hanging fruit
Any attempt to verbalize an emoticon. For example, saying, "Colon, close parens." :)
-
Tuesday...perhaps my IMPORTANT envelope will arrive today.
-
TOD:
Meme
Dystopian

Another tag line for MR BK's new film:
"Is YOUR refrigerator running?"
-
Good morning, all.
DR Elmore: I fly out on Thursday the 18th and return Saturday the 27th.

TOD
This.
Yes, This.
Starting a post with "This." as its own paragraph instead of "Same here" or "I agree" or "I disagree" or any number of more civilized and conversational lead-ins to your own contribution to a thread. I never saw it in my life till just the past few months. Now it's a "thing" and I wonder how/where it started.
Also, the now ubiquitous "+1". Where does this crap come from? I'm going to guess it all starts on Facebook. Unless proven otherwise, Facebook shall take the blame. In fact, it can have the blame for everything I don't like, saving time and energy and speculation.
The fact that people are so quick to adopt the latest insipid expression is something that annoys the living This+1 out of me , satisfying two TODs in the process.

TOD, Part the Second
There are so many business-speak things, you could write a book, so I'll give honorable mention to this one which I think has reigned supreme for at least a decade:
At the end of the day...
-
I blame DR JOSE.
-
Really? I didn't think I'd seen any of that in these parts.
But let's get him back here to atone for this mishegas!
-
Here's a pointless post.

PAGE 2.

And the word of the day is: VERSICOLOR!
And The Song Of The Day Is: MY COLORING BOOK
-
DR Elmore is it one person using your debit card number? Is everything bought online? Just curious. Glad you got some of the money back.
-
DR Cillaliz, have you and your mom been watching DANCING WITH THE STARS?
Minus Bristol, and possibly Kirstie (although she was super entertaining last night) I think the level is unbelievable. I am so impressed. My favorites are: Shawn/Derek (the past 2 weeks they have been exceptional), Apollo/Karina. And last night I became fans of Melissa/Tony (love how she is trying to include so much difficulty) and Kelly/Val (they were so good last night).
If it isn't Bristol or Kirstie that goes it's gonna be really sad. I'm sort of hoping that those two go first so we can have all superior dances.

Post deleted.

I have a question for DR Jane, or BK who probably knows this as well.
Stats. Or Stat's. For burgers? DR Jane mentioned it when we were talking about Beverly Hills and it sounded slightly familiar. I subsequently found a couple of notes from those years indicating I went there, but I'm completely blank on what it was, where it was, anything about it, and the word "stats" is making for an impossible Google search. I'd love to fill in a memory here.

I so much agree ChasSmith. I really hate the use of "This" and "+1". They annoy me no end whenever I see them. Is it just laziness or do people think it's "cool"? I don't like that word either!

TOD:
"Blue sky thinking".
A particularly irritating expression - especially when I was asked by senior management to do it.
-
Weird dream last night in a night of frequently interrupted sleep. I dreamt about the power of the ampersand (&) and how the use of this lazy, ugly bit of shorthand (anathema to grammarians) was actually a sign that prosperity was around the corner. I don't know that I've ever dreamed of grammar before. I do know it was work related. Since we're not supposed to use ampersands, I don't know how its use could signify anything but a mistake.

I do not know.
-
BK,
I must disagree with you on DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER.
I think it's one of the better Connery Bond movies. I prefer it over THUNDERBALL and YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, and with the possible exception of THE SPY WHO LOVED ME and (only because Christopher Lee is in it) THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN, I think it beats all of the Roger Moore Bond films.

I remember enjoying the hiding the cassette tape in the bikini storyline when I was 10. So, I haven't seen the movie in 40 years. Wonder if it would hold up?

BK,
I hope you'll stop by when I'm in town for Monsterpalooza next week. It's been a year (Chicago) since we've had a chance to sit down and chat.

Well, actually, I don't -- but I wish I did this morning!
-
Tuesday afternoon greetings! I've been up since 7:30 and have had a blood test, met with the director of the senior center about funding sources, delivered a box of Rob's discarded books to the AAUW sale site, and filled up my car and had it washed. Whew, I'm ready for lunch!

DR JOHN G the Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that this dream says that you think that in some areas of work, you are being held back, and that you are actually capable of much more even in the post you are now handling. Dreaming of a specific punctuation mark can mean prosperity, but also in this case may indicate that piece of your writing that has not been responded to or given a grade or marking will indeed get notice that exceeds your expectation.

That's the same as one of Elmore's bounced checks. Coincidence? Are there coincidences?
And thanks, Dream-O-Matic 6000! With your help, I can polish my kitchen floors to be shinier than ever. Oh, wait, wrong product ...

I'm wondering if an earlier flight home should be mentioned....just sayin'
-
You know what, so many of you DRs just make me smile with you joviality! ;D
-
And as for the TOD:
I can't think of anything at the moment, although I am sure there must be some business or meeting related terms that I don't care for...or maybe I have become so used to them I don't even mind anymore.
As for this +1 thing...I have yet to come across it. Is there also a -1?
-
Wow, this weeks MAJOR CRIMES is the season finale. Some shows certainly have short seasons...like 6 episodes.
-
I am still waiting for new DR Aculaura to show up.
-
And I am so happy that the lovely actress, and one of my favorite interviewees, Sara Shane (aka Elaine Hollingsworth) is now on Facebook. I haven't chatted with her since her interview was published. She lives in Australia and just posted a new video of herself on her timeline...man, she looks so good...and she is closing in on 90s years old!

Some DRs might know Sara Shane best from the Gordon Scott Tarzan film
(http://www.erbzine.com/mag19/tga02h6.jpg)
While others (and you know who you are) will recall her fascinating performance in the lurid THREE BAD SISTERS!

TOD - "monies," as used by politicians and bureaucrats when talking about financial issues.
Here's one of my favorite satires on the grantwriting process:
Philanthropy Jargon Generator (http://mysite.verizon.net/grantspeak/)
-
MBarnum, was that Sara with the riding crop in the Sisters poster?
-
LOL DR JOHNG - it can do BOTH!
-
Hmmmmmmmm......I can't search on EBAY today.....all I get when I enter a search subject is a blank page.
-
The forces are trying to save you money, DR JRand!
-
DR JohnG, the actress with the riding crop is miss Kathleen Hughes. Sara plays the nicer of the 3 bad sisters.....all of whom are fighting over hunky John Bromfield.
-
Wow, this weeks MAJOR CRIMES is the season finale. Some shows certainly have short seasons...like 6 episodes.
Remember it continued from the summer show of THE CLOSER. In reality we got lots of extra episodes.
I thought Closer was the best thing on tv and now I think Crimes is.

Rainy tomorrow....but nice the rest of the week.

Thanks, DR JRand! We're in the Hyatt downtown and I don't expect to be outside much once I get there tomorrow afternoon. But I'll pack an umbrella, just in case...

I remember the thousand island dressing which I have always preferred on a hamburger.
I also remember cheese in the middle of the burger and rye bread. We always ate at the one on Wilshire & Doheny.

I'm helping a friend today so I skipped the gym. I probably could have done both but decided to give my shoulder a rest for a couple of more days. I did easy exercised at home this morning.

However it has been renewed, and the new season (next summer) will have 15.

Well, you're comparing it to other terrible Bonds. I don't like Thunderball or You Only Live Twice and I loathe the Roger Moore series. Diamonds fits very comfortably with those. Any slack I would cut it is removed because of Bruce Glover and that other awful actor who play the two gay villains.

I don't go to ebay but I went just now to see and I get pages and pages and pages and pages and pages and pages of pictures. Don't know what your problem is JR but it works for me.
And now I have cookies from ebay in my history which I will go and delete.

The Hamlet thousand island was nowhere near as good.
They served all sorts of other foods besides hamburgers. I recall ordering delicious BLT's.
It wasn't "fancy" like the Hamlet so I guess you could say it was more like a coffee house.

Okay, I think I know which clump of brain cells it was. And it's funny, because I've remembered that particular place a few times over the years but could never put a name to it. And I know it wasn't there for too much longer after I'd found it.

It was a sad day for me when they closed.
Saturday nights my parent's usually went out to dinner with friends. Before leaving my father would often go pick my hamburgers from Stats for us kids. Once my brother began driving I had to alternate with the Apple Pan because it was his favorite place. I didn't really like the Apple Pan yet it is still rated one of the best hamburger places. He also liked their pie which to me was just ok. No apple pie has ever compared to my mother's.
My brother still likes to get a hamburger & slice of pie there and I, of course, wouldn't eat at Stats today.

As far as I know, the only two Stat's were on Pico near Robertson (the one we ate at) and the one on Wilshire near La Cienega (one block east) - I don't believe there was ever a Stat's at Wilshire and Doheney.
-
Had a sandwich and no fries or onion rings, did errands and whatnot, had to watch all the Outside The Box footage and take notes for the editor, which took most of the afternoon, and picked up one little package (Ontrac of course hadn't delivered but subsequently has, so I'll just get that tomorrow) and I'm now home and relaxing.

I thought I went to Pico & Robertson then didn't read about one there and figured it was me. Thank you. I feel so much better now. I have absolutely no recollection of a second Stat's. I just remember turning right on Pico from Motor and driving the short distance (remember when there wasn't any traffic and it only took a few minutes) to the restaurant.

Plot thickens. Case reopened.
I got Wilshire & Doheny from that board Jane found. If that's wrong, my small coffee shop near there is once again a mystery.
What this takes is sitting down in front of old city directories. I have a few from my other home towns, and they're worth their weight in gold.

I got a book today from amazon - called Hard Times: The Adult Musical in the 1970s. Even though it mostly concerns itself with live adult musicals like Oh Calcutta, the lady author, who I apparently corresponded with in 2007, devotes a rather large amount of pages to Nudie Musical - all very interesting. She gets a couple of facts wrong, but she's got some really interesting insights from her perspective, and she obviously adores the movie. Very nice.
