Well, you've read the notes, the notes were the laziest notes in town, and now it is time for you to post until the laziest cows come home.

Just saw the new Bond film, "Skyfall," this evening! (I had a night out with my dad, yay!)

It did nothing for my sore neck. I was on edge the entire time. Loved it!

New episode tonight!  Happy to be reminded of that, as I'd joined this here jernt well after the first season had transpired so didn't get to experience them on their original schedule, fresh out of the oven.

Well if i include the book (kids) then it would count towards my total. And I don't think that is right (since I read a lot of very short kid's books). So i include the long ones that are usually around 100 pages.

I think it goes live at 7pm. Bruce just said at 7 EST it will be up at Broadway World. Since there is nothing up now and it's 9am I think it's 7pm.

Good morning, all! I could not get to sleep at all last night, and at some point after 3am, when I finally began nodding, I slept fitfully, and just before the 7:30 alarm rang, I had a long dream ab0ut Kim Criswell and Jason Graae and me in some museum. I set the alarm for 9 and went back to bed.  I will stay home again today, because tomorrow I have to go back to my other projects, like it or lump it.

First, coffee and some breakfast.

DR TCB, Paul Byrum is not on any recordings I have worked on. He's a friend of my friend Joe.

I like your new phone DR BEN.

All the pie talk yesterday is making me hungry.

DR TCB said he baked pie crust once, and nobody died.....which reminds me of one of my favorite lines in DON'T DRINK THE WATER when four people were poisoned by the food served by Walter's brother at a wedding reception:

Marion:  Well at least nobody died.

Walter:  Nobody died. That's great....we're thinking of making that our slogan.

We watched

Second Chorus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Chorus)

last night. Boy, what a stinker. Paulette Goddard was good, and, really, no one was bad, but Burgess Meredith and Fred played such unlikable guys. They were jerks. It was hard to believe that PG would fall for Fred. And the end was a mess (many of those movies do end with a messy wrap up) with PG and FA in the taxi and BM and Charles Butterworth waking up from their drugged sleep still counting measures (BM) and playing the mandolin (CB). Even Fred said it was "The worst film I ever made" Oh, well, at least I saw it. The print was terrible. It's been in public domain since 1967 and the DVD had nothing but the print, a set-up mode and a catalog of other available films. I wish they would have put Me and the Ghost Upstairs on as an extra. The number was cut from the film.

And now we will get ready to return to the city via the LIRR.

My brother-in-law arrived yesterday in time for the Michigan/Ohio State kick-off and my sister and niece were not far behind.  They'd taken a trip to Michael's (craft store) on the way.  Rob and Mary Linda arrived before half-time, during which my niece went to pick up Gram.  We all watched the Wolverines crash and burn in the second half, then had Thanksgiving leftovers for dinner.  Laura (niece) took Gram home, Rob and Mary Linda went home, and the rest of us watched the Notre Dame/USC game.  I was the only one who made it to the end of that one.

The film should have ended with Lincoln heading down the stairs, on his way to the theater; his valet watching him go.  You didn't need the rest of it.

I enjoyed the New York Singer's Christmas CD very much.  We played it at the store yesterday.  Very entertaining.

I of course especially liked her duets with Mr Guy Haines and Mr Euan Morton.

Mr BK'S new Christmas song is very good!!!  I hope it gets many more recordings....too bad Ms Clooney, Ms McKenzie, and Miss Day are no longer recording.....or even Mr Pat Boone....  I loved all of their Christmas albums back in the day.

Only one song seemed out of place to me.....not that it wasn't well done and lovely....just didn't care for I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm in the mix.....but I might get used to it.....

I can't either. She doesn't talk about not having an arm, except to worry if she'll be able to get a prosthetic arm under Obamacare.  She has more empathy with her husband and son who had to make the decision to allow the doctors to take off her arm to save her life

How old is her son?  I'm touched by her empathy with their decision making process.  It would be a difficult one to make..

Did she mention if her current insurance will cover the arm?  VIBES SHE GETS ONE!!!

For some reason, many of the people who only come once in a while all came to church today. We pretty much had a full house. Then they decorated the sanctuary for Christmas (too early, in my opinion), and I got to hold one of the babies while the mama was helping.

Today is the first rehearsal of The Wind In the Willows (http://olyft.org/come-out-to-meet-mole-rat-toad-and-all-their-friends-in-the-wild-wood/) at the performance space.  I can only hope that the sound cues are complete and have been fixed and are correctly numbered.  I don't know if they're going to have the microphones today or not.  I'll find out when I get there.  The stage manager, who knows a lot more about mics than me (which is next to nothing) will be the mic wrangler.  I'll just turn them on and off during the performances.  As with all first rehearsals in the performance space, it'll certainly be a long and possibly frustrating and certainly exciting time. :)

Went to friends' house for brunch today. Took one of the transparent pies, which was quite good, but a little too sweet for my tastes.

Glenn made Baptist Cakes, which are a variation of doughnuts that you fill with butter and top with maple syrup. Definitely not on my diet and I ate a few too many. Many they were good.

His wife, Mickey, baked the bacon, really thick slabs of the stuff.

Then we sat out on their patio where the sun light flickered through the leaves of the trees overhead. Lovely fall day.

Watching a motion picture on Blu and Ray.  Ate a couple of tuna sandwiches of my own making.  And have solved the mystery of the Fed Ex door tag - no wonder there's no record of a package - there IS no package - they were coming to pick up a package and I missed them by minutes - so we're now trying to rearrange that (I'm shipping a Nudie Musical print to San Francisco for a screening their doing there).  Why they would leave this kind of door tag is anyone's guess - it clearly states "packages not delivered."

How old is her son?  I'm touched by her empathy with their decision making process.  It would be a difficult one to make..

Did she mention if her current insurance will cover the arm?  VIBES SHE GETS ONE!!!

I didn't talk to her too much about about whether her insurance covers the arm.  She started talking about it, then said her husband tells her she worries about it too much so I took that lead and changed the subject.    She has two sons, her younger is... probably in his 30s at least, she's in her mid to late 60s

We saw LINCOLN yesterday.

Great performances, particularly Daniel Day-Lewis; fantastic production values, some marvelously written scenes and inspiring, heart-felt moments.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here when I say that, for me, the parts were greater than the whole.  As an overall movie, I don't think it works.  Yes, the subject matter was compelling, but the film was too long, too talky and the material would have probably worked better as a 4-6 hour TV miniseries, rather than a 2 1/2 hour movie.

To paraphrase the words of William Goldman, the filmmakers did not protect the story's spine.

I could go on, but....

  :-\

Interesting as this is what I am expecting from it.  Almost what I'm expecting as I wasn't thrilled with Day-Lewis in the previews.

I think you'll like him.  The previews don't show that much

Sunday afternoon greetings!  This our second Sunday of Richard's medical leave, so we were able to go to breakfast with my sister and brother-in-law and niece before they headed home for Michigan and Illinois, respectively.  All in all, it was a very nice holiday weekend.

You seem to be enjoying Richard's medical leave ;)

Sounds like my mom...the choir didn't sing this Sunday so she said that means she doesn't have to go to church

Today I did lots of chores, laundry, picked up a little here and there, did some cooking, baked oatmeal cookies and cleaned the kitchen.  I still have to write that motion and get it filed before tomorrow.  It will take me probably 30 minutes to an hour to complete and I've put it off for 4 days.  Sheesh

For some reason I always thought she was younger, until you mentioned her son being part of the decision making.

I can understand her concern, from what I have read they are expensive and she will want one that functions well.  I'm sure she can't help but be worried about the cost of all of this.

If it is tranparent pie, how did your friends know that you brought it?  Or did that just make more for you?

I am very tired today.  I stayed up really late last night reading catalogs I got in the mail.  I figured I didn't have any reason to get up early.  Well, between 4:30 and 5:00, I heard Nicky whining and crying.  I was afraid that he was sick, so I got up.  No-o-o-o-o-o-o-o, the landlord's cat was back sitting on my balcony.  I tried to ignore the whole thing and go back to bed, but Nicky started yowling and hissing.  I tried to lock Nicky away in the bedroom with me, but he was just going crazy.  Finally about 6:00, I picked up Nicky and locked him in the spare room, where at least he had his litter box.  I went and tried to shoo away the little bitch darling, but she just hissed at me.

Yes, I was tempted.  I sat there and stared at my cell phone for a long time.  At one point I heard someone on the stairs outside in the hall, and I thought maybe he heard the rukos and was coming to save the day.  But nobody ever came to the door.

Great episode. Perhaps the best musically so far. And funny.

I remember Rex Reed on Mike Douglas one afternoon (or maybe it was Merv) and he was trying to rip the Cannes Film Festival judges a new one because they honored "Taxi Driver" over "That's Entertainment." So, this is a little like having both of them combined. Big happy pants, indeed.

Since you really, really want to know, I will come out with it. I have watched every episode, out of loyalty to you Bruce, and I don't find them funny. I don't like them. Better to know than think someone is willfully ignoring.  As to what you find funny and don't find funny - that's all horse racing and none of it bothers me one whit.  As you say, most here find them funny - and thankfully that's been the case everywhere else.  I don't find certain things funny that others find hilarious.  Humor is subjective.  But you do understand that by saying nothing repeatedly from the start you were saying what you just said loud and clear. :)

Use a cheese you like or can eat that would go with mushrooms. Something that could get all melty and hold everything together. Parmesan comes to mind. Mozzarella might also work.

Use a cheese you like or can eat that would go with mushrooms. Something that could get all melty and hold everything together. Parmesan comes to mind. Mozzarella might also work.

Cotswald or Monteray Jack?  Up until just a few years ago I had trouble with Parmesan.  I could maybe do it now.

I am scared to see LINCOLN because I am afraid it's full of present day political propaganda......

Don't worry, he was a Republican.

I did hear people commenting that they didn't know that it was the Republicans who abolished slavery

The Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor movie is on Lifetime tonight....

Oh, that is why I saw a photo with the two of them side by side.

I hope it wasn't a recent photo of Lindsay and Liz!

Don't forget to share the Outside the Box episode with friends.

I have an actor friend in Seattle who I think is single-handedly spreading the word to the entrie theater community.

This is so weird.  I just toggled over to Amazon to see what they had going for Cyber Monday.  I saw this rather pretty necklace.  So, I clicked on it and it comes up with a price of $.01.  I don't have anyone to give it to, but it seems weird that it comes up for a penny.

DOWNTON ABBEY REVISITED was a recap of the first two seasons, with a few teasers for Season 3.  Angela Lansbury was the host and was given a pretty lame script to read.  There were pledge breaks, of course.  The program did pique my interest for the new season, but it also made me want to watch the first 2 again.  We then watched a bit of the London history lecture series that Richard bought from The Teaching Company before it was time for THE MENTALIST.  I can take that show or leave it.

Monterey Jack should work. Even cheddar. Not familiar with Cotswald.

I'm not surprised. The last movie I saw her in ("Machete") was all about her nudity. And even that was made irritating when she opened her mouth. Even in a B movie, her performance didn't measure up.

Optimist!!!

Yup.  Well, rehearsal went well enough.  The sound cues were fine and for the most part, the mics were fine.  One of them, however, would be turned all the way down and was still "on".  Tomorrow, Bruce, the composer, is going to get with someone and they're going to figure out what's going on.  Otherwise, they worked on set changes and lighting bits and just ran through act one.  We stopped at the intermission and we'll work on the second act tomorrow night.

I'm hearing from a lot of people who think this one is the best - it wouldn't be my choice for "best" but I don't think like that.  Glad you liked it, elmore.

Couple of cents worth:

All three leads invoked the originals uncannily.  Not that others didn't do just as well in the earlier episodes -- but something special struck here for me.

DR John G. said something about the music, and I was especially taken with the harmonies in "You Looking at Me?".

I'm really enjoying Mannheim Steamroller and Holiday Moments on Ice.  With Megan Hilty.

I did, too, DR Cillaliz.

I saw that it was on just before I left this afternoon, but it was about a half hour after it started.  I recorded what was left and am watching it now.  Megan Hilty (really, the only reason I started to record it) hasn't been on, yet.

Just finished "American Splendor" about Harvey Pekar. I had forgotten how good the movie was in its own quirky way. And I loved the way they filmed the real Harvey and Paul Giammati both. And it's a slice of American society I don't encounter much outside of the novels of Larry Brown and Harry Crews.

One thing I learned from season one is that people seem to like the ones with multiple musical numbers, rather than just one number like Soylent Green or Dirty Harry.  So, this season's all have three with the exception of the final episode, which has four (one is VERY brief, though).
