Well, you've read the notes, the notes were curious and a case, and now it is time for you to post until the curious cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ORRERY!
-
Good early morning to all
-
I almost didn't get off the note pages.
It started playing all 44 of BK's videos. It didn't stop after the Yiddish Sondheim. Fortunately I've already seen all the videos over the years.
UPDATE
The reason why is that the play button says play all.
-
Health Vibes continuing for DR Elmoore
-
My favorite donut has always been the Boston Kreme with custard filling
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cb/Boston_cream_doughnut.jpg)
-
I don't know what else to say so early in the morning.
-
Kismet is starting to lick my face good morning
-
He has doggie breath. He just ate some bison food from last night
-
I wonder if anyone else is till watching all the videos
-
I'm doing Weight Watchers and lost 27.6 pounds in 17 weeks. Portions and tracking what I'm eating and a lot of walking with the dog.
-
A Boston Kreme donut is 9 points. I have 46 points a day. That many points is sometimes hard to get to as MOST vegetables and fruits are 0 points which I enjoy every day
-
I'm my own posting frenzy
-
Do I have anything else to say?
-
Okay you pulled it out me. One more post
-
I gave a speech at Toastmasters last night that was a little of a downer and then it seemed that everyone else's short speeches during Table Topics turned into downers. But everyone spoke very well last night.
Okay that's it for now.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Deb, what didn't work last night when you tried to listen to my review? Was it the BBC or TuneScoop or the link from this site?
-
DR TCB, I see that Tacoma Community College is seeking a gospel choir director.
You should apply!
-
Good morning, all.
Why of course I'll have some coffee.
-
House was freezing this morning because I had a few windows open for what turned out to be a quite decent sleep. Heat's on now, and feels wonderful.
-
And that's the news.
-
:)
Good morning.
Good Tuesday morning.
-
I'm feeling way too tired for it to be only Tuesday. Hopefully, that'll change, and a burst of energy (a big burst) will carry me through the day. We'll see.
-
And that's it.
I've got nothing.
:)
-
Off to work.
Energy or not, the day must go on.
Mega vibes everyone.
;)
-
Great video bk. 8)
-
Love the Yiddish! Took advantage of the Play All and enjoyed a couple of others again, too.
-
What I'm sick to death of is this damned page.
-
Is it 2015 yet?
Sure feels like it.
-
There!
Two (2).
Now post, people. Post. I beseech ye.

And the word of the day is: ORRERY!
And The Song Of The Day Is: HOW HIGH THE MOON
-
Good morning, all!
Once again, I went to bed at 10:00 and fell asleep sometime after midnight. I was wake at 7am, freezing, and both legs were throbbing from their workout yesterday. Around 9:30, i decided to get up and spend some time in a hot bathtub. So, I'm on my first cup of coffee, and pondering the remains of the day. There has been no resolution to the fresh hell from yesterday, and I'm thinking that's still around to bite my butt at some point today.
I'm also pondering a trek to my pharmacy, and that means a walk to Broadway to pick up a taxi. I don't know . . .
-
I am pretty certain that I will not be doing laundry. Iam not prepared to make three trips up and down 82nd Street.
-
Walking and Hell vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
I missed all of the excitement last night.....but I am glad it was resolved!!!
-
Cedric the Entertainer is the new EMCEE for the syndicated WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE, and he is quite good. I like him, so I am glad he got the gig!
-
TOD:
I liked Cream Sickles. Vanilla ice cream surrounded by sherbert....if those weren't available, I got a Nutty Buddy which was an ice cream cone with nuts on top.....
-
TOD:
Chocolate chip mint ice cream was always my favorite as a child.
When the Ice Cream Truck came around, however, I would choose one of those Ice Cream sandwiches.
-
I missed all of the excitement last night.....but I am glad it was resolved!!!
Me, too!
-
Me three. The benefits of going to bed early!
-
Tuesday afternoon greetings! I've been out and about this morning, delivering 5 boxes of books to the new sale site, mailing a package to my sister, and having my filthy car cleaned inside and out. After lunch I will clean up and head to Miami University's Voice of America Learning Center for the first session of the Nonprofit Board Leadership Certificate Program.
-
Good morning - i'm off to play a funeral.
That's all.
-
And the hell from yesterday continues into today, and it's driving me mad. If it isn't resolved ASAP, it couldl get really messy.
-
DR Elmore, I hope the messiness resolves quickly. You don't need the aggravation.
-
I'm up, I'm up. I see one of our tech guys is here, hopefully testing things. I did click "new" to take me to the first new post, but it took me to the end of this page.
-
TOD:
I used to love Rocky Road ice cream.
So did my Dad.
He used to sneak a half gallon into the house and hide it at the bottom of the freezer, then at night, he'd go a fix himself a treat when nobody was around.
He didn't fool anybody.
-
DR Elmore, I hope the messiness resolves quickly. You don't need the aggravation.
Thanks, DR Ginny! I'm trying to resolve the mess before it becomes a total mess and I have to bring the Man from Philadelphia into the loop. That will turn the mess into a major casualty.
-
Oh, and the problems from yesterday were pretty much as I thought - when we were moved to the new servers, they needed to change the web path for certain functions of this board and they didn't realize it - that's all been done now.
-
I'm doing Weight Watchers and lost 27.6 pounds in 17 weeks. Portions and tracking what I'm eating and a lot of walking with the dog.
Congratulations on the weight loss!!!

Sago Palms are a very common site in landscaping all over Houston, but did you know that these popular plants can be deadly to pets? [/b]Animals like to eat the seeds as they fall to the ground, and can begin to display symptoms of the toxin within hours of ingestion. If you are suspicious that your pet may have gotten into a Sago Palm, seek veterinary care immediately! The faster your pet gets medical attention, the better their chance of survival.

From DR TCB:
Thank you so much, MBarnum. You are quite right. I was pretty close to the end of the line when I went to treatment; so I probably would have never been around to find HHW. But you have all helped keep me sane and sober. I love you, too.
I think your humor and your being around also helps us.
-
DR Elmore, I hope the messiness resolves quickly. You don't need the aggravation.
DITTO!!!

Jose did this (he posted on Twitter) but I can't imagine even thinking about doing it, even if I was first in line. It's only freakin' food. That's why I get angry at foodies. They treat food as if it's a cure for cancer. It's FOOD!!! THAT'S ALL IT IS. STOP TREATING IT LIKE GOLD.

I can.

Bruce we definitely have similar taste in donuts. If you ever go to Voodoo Doughnuts try their double chocolate doughnut. Make sure you get the correct one. The first time Bryan brought me their donuts they gave him a plain doughnut with chocolate glaze.
I used to LOVE the crumb donuts at Winchell's Donuts. In fact a visit to LA always included at stop on the way in from the airport. Sadly the quality of their donuts went downhill and I eventually stopped going for the crumb donuts. I never really liked crumb donuts anywhere else.

I can't see DR JANE's avatar!
I see yours.

Now there's an interesting take on Hell. Hundreds of crazy people standing in an insanely long line, staring at their cellphones.

I went ahead and made the trek to 68th and Amsterdam to my pharmacy. I'm glad I made the effort because it keeps me moving and away from my fears of being alone and on my own away from my environment.

One of my favorite videos of The Manhattan Transfer is when they got to sing "How High the Moon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyARr0cefMM)" with Ella Fitzgerald on the Grammy Awards! :D

Topic of the Day:
When I was a kid, I loved the Choco-Taco! As for ice cream at home, just a plain hot fudge sundae (preferably with actual hot fudge, not just chocolate syrup...but I like that, too). For pies, I have always loved pecan or cherry or blueberry or chocolate cream or coconut cream (not necessarily in that order).

And the tsuris is over! All is hopefully right with the world. At least my world.

Here's a shot of the new musical BIG FISH. I wanna see it!
-
The first time we attempted to get doughnuts at Voodoo was on a Sunday morning. We waited in line long enough for Bryan to get coffee at a near by shop. Judging by how far we moved we figured our wait would be about an hour and a half. We did not wait in line any longer.
-
I wish I could have a drink!
I bet.

Oh, nice video in the notes today, I think I forgot to say that.

MAD MEN to Split Final Season Into Two Parts
"...AMC is following the strategy it took with "Breaking Bad" in dividing
up a planned final season into two installments, but in this case it will
be waiting a full year between seven-episode arcs. That means the final
season is really two entirely separate ones, at least in terms of
scheduling.
"The first seven shows will be shown next spring under the title "The
Beginning." The second group will be shown in 2015 and will be called "The
End of an Era." The show's creator, Matthew Weiner, will shoot all the
episodes in one production cycle, so in effect, AMC will simply be storing
away the last seven episodes for a year..."

I want to see Big Fish also. I've heard very good things about it. I never saw the movie.
It was on TDF once a couple of weeks ago but it hasn't been on since so I don't know when I will see it. Time will tell.
-
New World tells me that the pre-orders on DEAREST ENEMY are quite good. I am very happy to hear that.
So, during my trek to the pharmacy, the UPS man, who's been told repeatedly that he can leave packages, didn't leave one. Luckily, I have no plans tomorrow so I'll be here.
Sadly, I have no plans for the rest of my life!
-
I'll say again: If anyone is having any issue with this board you must clear your browser cache - everything will work perfectly once you've done that. Remember, last night they had to update the web path addresses for avatars and smiley and you may still be looking at something in your cache.

If it isn't one thing, it's another:

The pre-order I finally got around to placing (yesterday! - shame on me) must have put them right over the top, DR Elmore.

Couldn't agree more - Jose has always been about this trendy food stuff. Show him a new hip thing and he will be there waiting in line for it - over and over and over again. Happened with Krispy Kreme and many other foodstuffs. I don't get it, I'll never get it and furthermore it doesn't even look interesting. And for most in that line, it's about being part of hip not about benefitting some cause. But never underestimate the people who have this need to be part of the trendy. It is deep-seated and part of their psyche, like the people who wait for six hours in line at the Apple Store for the newest and greatest iPhone.
-
If it isn't one thing, it's another:

I was freezing this morning, so when I got home from the pharmacy I added a quilt to my bedding. I won't winterize until the new mattress arrives.
-
I have been thinking about a new mattress and box spring. Do I really need the box spring though? I suppose one should buy both at the same time?
-
I don't think that is being very fair to DR Jose, BK.
Food is a hobby, practically a career, for DR Jose, so of course he is going to want to try it. Just like I want to try out every new Bollywood actor movie....and, just like I have to sometimes order my Bollywood DVDs from far away places just to get certain titles, DR Jose might have to stand in line for something new and special.
I just don't see the point of putting someone's interests down just because it is not of interest to you. Gosh knows I have had enough people do that to me throughout my life time. Jose enjoys it and that is really all that matters.
-
Yes, DR JANE - I was a day behind.
That explains it :)

How exactly was I putting it down? I was pointing out that this is his "thing" - it's always been his "thing." I don't think there's much secret about it - he's always done it as long as I've known him. Would you think I would take offense if someone pointed out that collecting first editions was my "thing" and that I've always done it and go to all the book shows? Of course not. Really, let's not be so sensitive. You remember, I'm the guy who has hired Jose on several occasions - why would I put him down for being a trendy food obsessive? I know many others who are like that - I don't get it - ME, I don't get it. Apparently Ben doesn't get it. Just as Jose probably doesn't get or understand my obsession with collecting what I do.
-
Someone made cronuts for the dessert cook-off yesterday at work. They were OK.
-
I have been thinking about a new mattress and box spring. Do I really need the box spring though? I suppose one should buy both at the same time?
It depends on the condition of your box spring. I've always gotten a set though so the fit is good. Instead of replacing our air mattress, which doesn't require a box spring, we have been replacing the topper. I recently read instead of getting pillow top mattresses buy a good mattress with a replaceable pillow top as that goes out before the mattress does.

Since you asked.... I was also going to comment anyway regarding
"And for most in that line, it's about being part of hip not about benefitting some cause. But never underestimate the people who have this need to be part of the trendy."
I know you didn't say you were specifically including Jose in the above comment but it sure felt like it.

What's the best kind of mattress to put on a platform bed? I know it's probably not ideal for ANY mattress, but I love the bed.
I've worn out conventional mattresses even when I'm diligent about turning it over every so often. Maybe the solution is simply replacing them a little more often than you would normally.

It was most certainly a general comment, but even if it wasn't, I'm just stating an opinion that one should never underestimate what people who have the need to be part of a trend will do to be a part of a trend. I think the fact that people in that line were lined up from four in the morning would seem to bear that out, don't you? :) But no, that particular comment was not specific to Jose.

I've had my current mattress as long as I've lived in this house - so, over nine years now - is that time to do a new one?
According to this article the answer is yes http://www.sleepdoctor.com.au/sleep-articles/how-long-does-a-mattress-last
-
The only reason I keep my air mattress is that it is easy for me to change the sheets & it is lower to the ground so I'm less likely to hurt my shoulder.
-
Definitely have to replace mine. It's older than that, and in poor condition now anyway. My back is going to thank me. (I hope.)
-
Have you been rotating your mattress?
I just rotated mine last week and I swear that it looks almost brand new. It doesn't seem sunk in, like my previous mattress did. I really think that it's because of the memory foam topper that my sister gave me. She didn't like it at all, but I won't ever be without it. :)
-
And the tsuris is over! All is hopefully right with the world. At least my world.
For now.
Did you take some anti-inflamatories to get rid of the tsuris? :-)
-
When I was trying to be good, some years earlier, I rotated AND turned the mattress over on some kind of schedule of my own imagining.
-
I like the pillowtop mattress in our second room better than our mattress. For the day I finally get a new mattress for our room (probably when we move) I found this information....
We don’t attach pillow tops to our mattresses. If you prefer a plusher, softer, more enveloping mattress surface, you can add our free-floating pillow top. To ensure breatheability, our pillow top features a cotton and Merino wool cover. We use 100% natural latex foam for cushioning. This design delivers the comfort a pillow top should without the performance issues associated with synthetic toppers and pillow top mattresses. - See more at: http://www.sleepworks.com/resource/buying-mattress/pillow-tops-and-foam-toppers#sthash.qbXnJMYM.dpuf

Yes time for a new mattress and box spring - and don't forget a mattress topper that will increase the life of your mattress.....

Is a mattress topper this new-fangled thing I see on top of the mattresses at the mattress store I walk by on my way to the bank?
-
Hello!
-
DR Ben--broadwaybox.com has tickets for Big Fish starting at $57.
-
Krispy Kreme really was a phenomenon for a while. I know a store opened in Buffalo and people stood in line. It closed down within a couple of years, if I remember correctly.
I happen to live very close to one of the oldest Krispy Kremes around and it's still doing well. I never go there, though.
-
Is a mattress topper this new-fangled thing I see on top of the mattresses at the mattress store I walk by on my way to the bank?
I'm confused as to what DR Jrand is referring to as a topper to extend the life of your mattress. A topper, to me, is what we got to put on top of our air mattress so we didn't have to buy a new one. Or you put it on top of a new mattress to make it softer or change the feel of it.
I would think you are referring to, the not so new, pillow tops attached to the top of new mattresses. Did you look at the link I posted regarding these?

We had them when I was a kid and I sold them every morning as a junior or senior as a fundraiser for National Honor Society. I always enjoyed them (not as much as Mom's), but I could never understand the craze appeal.
When one opened in San Antonio, I got to work a preview shift making the donuts. All I learned is that they like their fry oil pushed to the edge of being rancid, the same way that Starbucks likes their coffee slightly burnt. Gives it more of a flavor punch, in their opinion.
-
I am dying for some ice cream! There's none in the apartment, alas.

Thanks, Kevin. I'll look at it. I've never used Broadway Box. I may have to give it a try.

Fantastic! I look forward to it! I hope I'm actually mobile again. If not, I'll be out to meetcha in a taxi, honey!
-
Has anyone ever tried a chocolate fortune cookie? I tried one for the first time tonight with some chocolate ice cream. It was so good.
-
Did anybody else watching Dancing With The Stars yesterday?
-
I found this As Seen On Tv thing at my dollar store today. It's called Hair Bean. It was only $2.
http://www.amazon.com/Spark-Innovators-Hair-Bean-Detangling/dp/B006J2I65Y
You never know if these things are going to work. But I have very thick long hair. I am happy to report that it does work. Yeah!

My friend Rob Berman lost; Elliott Lawrence won for musical direction of the Tony Awards.

Fred Meyer has sold them before. I've never gotten any because you have to buy a whole big bag and I didn't want to eat them all...or share them. ;)

I've never seen one. The chocolate ice cream combo sounds better than the cookie alone.

Interesting. I'm surprised it works. I use a large pic comb.

My friend Rob Berman lost;
I'm sorry. I hope you agreed with the choice of the winner.
-
Two long books became available at my eBook library at the same time. I hate when that happens, with long books anyway. The thing is, I was 23rd in the queue for the 2nd book that became available. I think my branch had extra books.

I'd prefer Rob Berman had won since he's a good friend. Elliott's a nice man and a good musical director.

I've never seen them before. But they were at the Chinese restaurant I went to. Oddly I had already taken chocolate ice cream. It was so tasty together I mentioned it to my niece who then took my ice cream to try it. When she returned the ice cream bowl it was basically gone. :)
-
Oh well it was her birthday. So we were allowed to both pig out!

If he had to lose, at least Rob lost to someone nice :)

I had heard that these worked. But was not sure if the one that worked was the same brand as the one at the dollar store.
It is a weird shape. But my hair feels so smooth. I may go back and buy more. I think there were only 4 or 5 extras there. It is a totally different feeling (my hair) than when i untangle it with a regular brush.

You really should use a regular brush to untangle your hair and that is why I use a hair pick.

With the rain and having to turn the heat on today I didn't feel like going for a walk. I should have because I did nothing to burn off any calories today. If I wasn't so darn sleepy I'm sure I would have found the motivation to go out.

I'll have both. Thank you.

Back from a nice Thai dinner at a new place. Plenty of veggies with some duck. Just what I needed tonight.
-
I would like to have seen Dancing with the Stars. I like a few people in the cast this season. That's more than I can say for the last two or three seasons.
-
I am sure you all get tired of me posting these audition clips from Britain's Got Talent and The X Factor. However this young man is pretty remarkable. His name is Jahmene Douglas and he was not only the victim of child abuse growing up, but had to watch his mother getting tortured and abused by Jahmene's father. In addition his brother committed suicide due to the abuse. Jahmene lacks self-confidence, but he holds it in check during this audition.

Oh and his first CD opened at #1 in Britain.
-
DR TCB, I see that Tacoma Community College is seeking a gospel choir director.
You should apply!
I am afraid I lack the musical skills for that job. Too bad I can't find a job as a pastor.
-
The Rev. TCB. I like it.
-
Hello. My DH and I just returned from a trip to the Grand Canyon.
-
Watched a number of these early Abbott and Costello movies, many of which have had Gene de Paul scores. They've also had the Andrew Sisters, the Tink Spots and a fun trio called Tip Tap Toe.

Cool! Can't wait for the pictures! ;D

I just watched a 1971 movie that until a couple of weeks ago, I'd never even heard of. Or I'd forgotten I heard of it. I certainly never saw it. Well, it's one nerve-wracking son of a
b- gun.
SEE NO EVIL. Mia Farrow. Directed by Richard Fleischer. It's on a plain vanilla but excellent Sony/Columbia DVD. A masterpiece (if we must use such words) of suspense.
-
Well, it's time for me to leave work. My friend Margo and I are going to Red Robin for dinner.
Be back later!
-
From DR TCB:
Thank you so much, MBarnum. You are quite right. I was pretty close to the end of the line when I went to treatment; so I probably would have never been around to find HHW. But you have all helped keep me sane and sober. I love you, too.
I think your humor and your being around also helps us.
LOL! Maybe sometimes, if I don't push too many buttons.
-
What happened to the "Spellcheck"" button?
-
Someone made cronuts for the dessert cook-off yesterday at work. They were OK.
I had never even heard about cronuts until today.

I had never even heard about cronuts until today.
I heard about them just a couple of months ago. They go by other names, too, other combinations of doughnut and croissant.

New shows on Broadway, new shows on television, and new fiims at the corner Cineplex.
I wonder if Cheyenne Jackson has any new films to debut?
-
What's the best kind of mattress to put on a platform bed? I know it's probably not ideal for ANY mattress, but I love the bed.
I've worn out conventional mattresses even when I'm diligent about turning it over every so often. Maybe the solution is simply replacing them a little more often than you would normally.
Sleep Number Bed

Did we have a spellcheck button and if so where was it? I never saw it.
-
Finished with my viewing for the evening.
-
Hello. My DH and I just returned from a trip to the Grand Canyon.
That sounds like fun.
-
Good night, all.

Seven!

My friend Rob Berman lost; Elliott Lawrence won for musical direction of the Tony Awards.
Will you get to touch his Tony?
-
The Rev. TCB. I like it.
Well it almost happened.

Drake and The Game (I hope you know who they are, I don't) both chipped in $10,000.00 a piece to pay for the funerals for the man and his five children who died in the house fire in Ohio. I feel so bad for that woman.
-
G'night!
-
Is a mattress topper this new-fangled thing I see on top of the mattresses at the mattress store I walk by on my way to the bank?
Yes, but you have to stand in line for it :P
-
I'm going to create a Cronut frenzy in the City of Studio. I'll post on every street corner that I'll be selling Cronut at my home and that the first 7,000 people in line will definitely get one. I will be the toast of the town and everyone will love me and I'll be on the Internet and Miley Cyrus will twerk for me.
-
Well, it's time for me to leave work. My friend Margo and I are going to Red Robin for dinner.
Be back later!
Dinner at Red Robin was very good and dirt was dished. ;) Red Robin is having a special where if you spend $10 or more, you can get their pretzel bites with cheese sauce for free! AND since the Seahawks made some kind of touchdown, they were having an additional special for rewards card holders (such as myself) where when you buy any burger and two drinks, you get their Red's Tavern Double Burger (a smaller, two-patty burger) for free! So between the two freebies, we got $12 off our order!
-
Tomorrow is the library's All Staff Training Day. The entire staff (except for those who chose to use vacation) will gather at a local university and have speakers and training sessions and free food and other things to do.
-
They also announce the 5-year increment anniversaries that occur during this year. I'll be announced because in June, I officially have 25 years in! I've actually been working there since 1984, but it's not continuous, and my early time as a page didn't count. Shortly after that, people who worked as pages could count that in their seniority.
I still have 20 years to go before I can retire. ::)
;)
-
So, I REALLY must get to bed so that I can wake up a couple of hours earlier than I normally do.
Good night, all! 8)
