Morning, all! Thanks to everybody for their kind wishes yesterday.

Hope folks are staying warm. Had a 10-minute walk in to work today, and was taking inventory of my extremities when I got in. Fortunately, all were present and accounted for.

TOD: "Psycho" is the only one that comes to mind right now. We really need some daily topics that are more up my area of knowledge. Surely, everyone here wants to discuss late-19th/early 20th-century Jewish philosophy and sociology, right? :)

Excellent videos.  Would love to see more.

Contrast blowout is always a challenge, and the average Jane and Joe don't have a clue.  Get that exposure compensation working.  Lower it by a stop or whatever's necessary.

Good morning, all! The alarm rang at 6:30 but it was so cold in the apartment that I nodded and dozed until 8:00. I'm feeling a bit under the weather. Between that and the fact that I did not want to spend God know how much time sitting on a bench waiting for a bus in this weather made me cancel physical therapy. I'll go on Thursday when the forecast tells me it will be a warm 35 degrees F.

So, my day will be one of puttering about the apartment. I have to begin this choral arrangement for the Cincinnati Men'sChorus, and today seems as good as any to dive in.

Great songs, BK. Loved the lyrics to Annie.

The Andrews Sisters recorded a version of Fugue for Tinhorns. Got a copy for Christmas. The liner notes say it was one of the rare occasions when each of the singers had solo parts. They recorded several songs from the show over the years. This set has "Guys and Dolls" and "A Bushel and a Peck," too.

I want (not need -- just want) to run a couple of errands, so just for comfort's sake I pulled the car out of the garage and am letting it run for ten minutes.  Makes a HELL of nice difference when you get in.  :)

But also, if I didn't do that, even after being parked in the garage, on a day like today the car would just be getting warm when I got to where I'm going which is ten minutes away.  Then I'd go into the store and it would get cold again and, well, you get my drift.

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

DR Ginny, I didn't reschedule; I'm already booked for thursday.

I've been cleaning out detritus around the apartment. I dumped lot of battered, blank music paper in the garbage, and reorganized all of my playbills and souvenir programs. I've got to get some cartons organized for the Miami University Library and assemble the things I need to take to Encores! tomorrow. First, some lunch.

I just heard from Joshie, who is still in Atlanta, waiting on the flight to LaGuardia.  I guess he's not flying back on Jet Blue.

Well, there is another version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oylIGhvXYiE), the one from BK's review, "What If?"

And about that BK, I have a question, (even though it's not tomorrow)...in "What If?", the singer sang that she was cast as Molly, but in the video in today's notes, she says Tessie.  Did you change them because either singer actually played those respective roles or because the singers more likely would've been cast as those roles when they were younger?

Just curious.

Never anything hurtful - but maybe some really bad karma and the ability to not be able to do what they do for their livelihood for a few weeks.

While working I was listening to Joan Morris' AFTER THE BALL.  How I wish I could sing like Joan!

DR Elmore, as soon as "On the Banks of the Wabash" began, I was dressed (in my mind) as Helen Gant ready to take my place for the Act One curtain!

I wish we'd had a better leading lady. I wanted Bette Davis.

Let's do it again - I'm old enough to play the mother now!

You could do it!

Poor Billie! In 1976, i had no possibilities for that role except her, and she was never as strong as I wished.

You'd think the cold temps would help.      :P

Cedar pollen appears in the cold. Blech. But thank you.

Made a pecan cobbler today. It will take all my willpower not to eat all of it. It came out much better than I had expected.

Hello from freezing NoVa (Northern Virginia).  It's in the teens now.    It could be worse.  Haven't talked to DR Kate, but I heard that Buffalo may get up to 3 FEET of snow in the next couple of days.

Didn't do any writing before the noon rehearsal.  Today's rehearsals went very well, and I chatted with our host, a really nice guy - have to now write a little patter for him.  Then I had a Cobb salad and a bagel.  Then came home and wrote about two-and-a-half pages, maybe three and will do three more later tonight, along with the patter.

I am scheduled for a rehearsal on Thursday, so hopefully things will improve by then.  I have LOTS of material to read for the play - I feel as if I'm back in school.....oh my....

Currently it is -9 degrees with a real feel of -29 degrees.

AND I have to start reading....and finish learning my lines.

I enjoyed the videos very much!

JRand, it's better here, still 17 degrees here at 8:13 pm and on the way to getting warmer.   Hang in there folks, it will get better

Nice!  Lily Tomlin performed here in Olympia, and I ushered for the event.  The house was full!  Harlequin Productions, a local theater group, is going to next do The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe (http://www.harlequinproductions.org/season/2014/search_for_signs.php).  Lily didn't do this show when she was here, but it was a wonderful evening.

Lily spent a lot of time in Paducah, Ky., when she was younger, so she has a fondness for the state. When I was at the University of Kentucky back in the early 1980s, she spent a week doing workshops of various versions of "The Search ..." I saw four of those and each one was different from the others. It was wonderful watching Lily, Jane and their people work through the week.

Lily was really giving to the students in the theater program. Yes, she was there for feedback, but she attended classes, she listened to the students and asked questions that showed she was interested.

I will be glad when it warms up enough that I don't have to run all the taps 24/7.

I mean, it's nice to image that I have gurgling fountains throughout the house, but it also makes me want to pee constantly.

David, you are one of the funniest people I have never met.

We covered all that in 2012.

I don't know why, but I'm still at work.  I actually haven't been working for the last hour (I'm on my own time), just got distracted and was surfing the net.  Don't worry...NOTHING inappropriate!

I've written about four pages, I think.  I actually took the beginning three pages of chapter four and put them back in chapter three, so I actually have to start chapter four anew, hopefully tonight and hopefully I can get a couple more pages done.

I wrote more pages and am well into the new chapter four - I do believe I wrote almost nine pages today.  I was not sure how to begin chapter four, so I immediately took a shower and it came to me instantly.  I also got two other really good ideas for what's to follow.  So, I should be able to finish chapter four in the next day or so and move directly to chapter five.

Two days ago we got our benefit host.  One hour ago we lost our benefit host because he got a guest shot on something called Big Bang something or other.  Luckily I hadn't started writing his stuff, so that's one less thing for me to worry about, other than trying to figure out how to actually start the show - letting the audience know the conceit of it.
