Well, you've read the notes, the notes were simple, and now it is time for you to post until the simple cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: VITTATE!
-
It'll be fun to read "Benjamin Kritzer: The Missing Years." :D
-
I certainly would welcome another bk memoir!
-
And although I have not finished yet, I'd also welcome a continuation of the tale of Jeremiah. :)

That last was from a website that features nothing but "photos" of Bea Arthur, mountains, and pizza.

Because why should such information be withheld from Dear Readers? 8)
-
This is from a website called LOCAL PEOPLE WITH THEIR ARMS CROSSED, which naturally features news items from local papers picturing people with their arms crossed:

Morning all.
That is all.
-
I'll be seeing MHF tonight. Larry will be backstage so I probably won't see him.
-
Good morning, all.
Enjoy MHF, Ben. I envy you getting the chance to see one of my favorites.
-
Because why should such information be withheld from Dear Readers? 8)
Thank you for not withholding such vital information.
-
Good morning to all
-
My dinner turned out really well.
-
I started reading the book yesterday and I was smiling which I haven't done in a while.
-
I was imagining Ronny Howard circa The Music Man era (but a little older) as the character
-
Catching up slowly. Today's a tax-season day off.
-
And Amaryllis as the girl
-
Can anyone see "Arnegard" and not think "Ermengarde, keep smiling" from Hello Dolly? (Well, i guess many people could, actually.)

Good morning, all! I slept terribly, but i must go to Toyland this morning, scan a drum part from a Moross score, and send it to Susanna's copyist Scott. I'd been wondering why a project wasn't finished, and it turns out I hadn't sent the drum part. Oy! It's distressing to get old.
DR slingshot, I don't know which I find more frightening: the photos you post or the fact that you spend time looking for such idiocies.
DR Ginny, thanks for the Playbill offer; I'll try t pick up one after the show tonight.
OK, it's time to head to Toyland.
-
Oh don't worry, DR elmore3003. I don't spend any time at all looking for these things. They just gravitate to me naturally. :)
And you'd miss it if I didn't do it.
-

You see right through me!

One might assume there's a limited audience for that sort of thing, not to mention a dearth of material. But the internet has proved me wrong many times.
-
One look at that picture would tell you why people want to speed through Arnegard as quickly as possible.
-
Congratulations to DR VIXMOM on her new battery and her millstone.
-
I love the television movie from years ago titled THE ORPHAN TRAIN.....it kind of reminds me of the movie ALL MINE TO GIVE....which is the saddest movie EVER!
-
Good morning, all.
Well, I slept solidly, after a day of slaving over a hot keyboard. Yes I did.
Coffee now, and then back to it.
-
Today is the first day of G/D auditions (make of that what you will). The pianist wanted to start at 2 p.m. instead of three....so we are....and Friday night he sent me a message telling me he won't be there until 2:30.....and he has some place to be at 6 p.m. So I really can't start reading because we might not get to everybody SINGING if we don't start until 3:30....after reading....so I guess I will do my stand up for half and hour.
Pray for Rosemary's Baby.
-
Congratulations to DR VIXMOM on her new battery and her millstone.
Both of the items in that post could be interpreted in some kind of medical sense! :o
-
All auditions are G/D auditions, DR Jrand63.
-
DR GEORGE I would also like to know when hair is coming, for obvious reasons.
<----------------------------------------
-
I'm playing three DAYS of auditions soon, for a local summer outdoor theater that goes for a cast of thousands. I don't know why I'm so nice.
-
Oy. They're next Thursday and Friday evenings, and Saturday morning/afternoon. These people are nuts.
-
All auditions are G/D auditions, DR Jrand63.
I have found that to be true. Now the man who is directing THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER tells me he wants to audition for Arvide, even though he is directing SHREK at his school and won't be available until May 1.....and I want to be in the TMWCTD.....but also auditioning for Arvide is my friend Jim who founded the PCPH and worked tirelessly to get the property where we now have our theatre building...and he is not well and this might be his last chance to do a role..... So if I use Jim, I might not be in TMWCTD.....well, as Sheridan Whiteside anyway, I might get to be the radio man.
-
I wish you lived in my neighborhood DR CHAS SMITH...I am nice to my musicians....of course we don't pay any $$$$
-
And so - I am off.
-
Greetings from Toyland! I had to reboot my computer so I could send the scans to it.
I wish I were more computer savvy.
-
Good Morning All:
Well, I am now on Chapter 6 of RED GOLD, and of course I am really enjoying it!
-
BK, you must do a TRIOLOGY OF RED GOLD!!!
-
It would also be great BK to do the "In between years", 1965-1968 After THE KRITZER SERIES!
-
I really LOVE your style of writing.
Keep up the great work!!!
It's exciting to know a Wonderful Author such as yourself!
-
Goodbye for now!!! :) ;) :D 8) :-*
-
I'm back!!!!!!!
I just wanted to know if anyone has seen MR SELFRIDGE ON PBS and what do they think of it???
-
Goodbye Again, for now!!! :) ;) :D 8) ::) :-*
-
Where is Everybody???
-
BEAUTIFUL DAY here in West Seneca NY 8) :) ;)
-
Goodbye for now!!!
-
I, on the other hand, and up. I was up at eight-thirty and fell right back asleep. But at ten the neighbors were not only chattering they were giddily screaming in joy as the little child did something brilliant. I mean SCREAMING. Now, of course, they are nowhere to be seen or heard. And so it goes.
-
a hot keyboard
I think they make a pill for that sort of thing. ;)
-
I think I will try a jog this morning.

-
And I am home from Toyland. All is quiet on the Eastern front.
-
And although I have not finished yet, I'd also welcome a continuation of the tale of Jeremiah. :)
But Jeremiah was a bull frog.
-
I'll bet he was a good friend of yours, DR TCB. :)

Page two? Really?

Back from a two-mile jog and now I can relax till I'm on my way to sound check.

Back in the ancient year of 1993, after spending weeks trying to think of a great title for my Sondheim rarities CD, I came up with a perfect one, at least in my view - Unsung Sondheim. No one else thought it was perfect, including Mr. Sondheim. I stuck to my guns and not only stuck to my guns but kept using it - Unsung Musicals, Unsung Irving Berlin, etc. And apparently I was right about how good it was because I cannot count the number of times others have used it for projects that are exactly the same as those I created. :)

It might be, so listen up quickly.
I'm watching it now and the middle section, a half-hour or so of songs from "Gatsby," is fascinating. Great songs. It helps some to know the characters from the novel, but it's not entirely necessary.
-
And, yes, I noticed the Unsung usage. Too bad, bk, you didn't trademark it the way Google wants to trademark the word glass. Yours at least is unique.
-
I finally got to see the movie FROZEN. I watched it with my niece. Only problem was she kept telling me things that were going to happen next. :)

Who doesn't need a little more Bea Arthur and pizza in their lives?

Surprised no comments on today's notes.

Relaxing and trying to watch a very bad but kind of amusing film called The Stuff.

I love the television movie from years ago titled THE ORPHAN TRAIN.....it kind of reminds me of the movie ALL MINE TO GIVE....which is the saddest movie EVER!
I remember Orphan Train but not All Mine.....
Last year I read "The Orphan Train" by Christina Baker Kline and like it very much.

I often catch up and then read them.

They even seem to have used it in the name of a corporation now.
Do they acknowledge that you'd used it first?

There is a fellow I know on Facebook - he used to live in LA and I've used him several times. He is now living in New York. He recently did a revue of - wait for it - cut songs from hit musicals and great songs from flops. I made a post saying it sounded like a familiar concept. Now he's back - planning a musical revue called - wait for it - What If, and also doing a show about - wait for it - material from unlikely musicals. I just posted and suggested he actually get some ideas of his own. It's so blatant.

Sunday evening greetings! We went to church with Rob and Mary Linda, had lunch with them, did an errand, and I took an hour nap when we got home.
-
Bruce the notes are indeed interesting, especially regarding the two new book ideas.
-
We did not buy toy guns for our boys and they still found ways to invent their own for play. I did permit lightsabers. GI Joe was a no, no. Well, by the time Transformers and Gobots became popular I gave up. They took karate which taught self confidence, self defense, and non violence.
When I let them get all the gear, including the clothes, for playing paint guns I listened carefully how they were playing in the woods behind our house. They and their friends were very careful not to hurt each other and time-out was well respected. Obviously none of these activities made them violent.
I don't like guns that look like guns for safety reasons as I think there should be a distinction between reals them. The ones we played with were obviously toys.

I tried to download (or capture, actually) the flash video stream, but what I got was goobered for the last half hour or so. BUT, I was able to convert that goobered video file into an MP3 audio file and it's absolutely fine. No problems, even though the video is wonky. Weird, huh?

She didn't want you to be scared.
She hates scary scenes. She doesn't even go to the movie theatre because she doesn't like the Disney movies that have villains. I think that Frozen is pretty tame re: villains.
I had to keep covering her mouth with my hand to stop her from telling me everything. I did let her say a bit.

No TAR tonight. No Good Wife. No Mentalist.

I have the dvd of The Book Thief which I may watch tonight or tomorrow.

No Good Wife. No Mentalist.
Do you know why?
-
I know I played at childhood games that would typically involve toy guns, but I can't honestly remember if I had any myself. The picture of the FANNER 50 makes me wish I had. :)
As for the next book covering those years ...? HELL yes!
-
I think there is a Country Music Awards show on DR JANE.
-
I think a RED GOLD sequel and BK The Missing Years are both great ideas for keychains and magnets....I mean....books!!
-
DR JANE you might see if you NETFLIX has ALL MINE TO GIVE available. It stars Glynis Johns and Cameron Mitchell and a bunch of kid actors whose faces will probably be familiar to you....but it is a real tear jerker....to be sure.
-
I got a dozen good people at auditions this afternoon, and if I get a dozen more tomorrow evening, I shall be happy.

Break legs vibes for MR BK & Co.

Thank you. I will be missing that.

I welcome the idea of more books. The world needs more good stories, fictional and not.

Pedro Almodovar's The Skin I Live In may be the weirdest movie I have seen in ages. And that's saying something. And I still have 30 minutes left to go.

We had our final AACB (All-America Concert Band) concert of the year today. It was a lot of fun. I'll miss band, but I'm also ready to have my Wednesday nights free for a few months

The heat just kicked on. What's with that? It was in the 90s a few days ago, now it's back to early spring weather.

Damn, I wish I could, but I have rehearsal that night, also.

Mickey Rooney has died at age 93.

And I am home from the cast party. The show went very well; the audience was all hyped up and Rob was having a fantastic time. The orchestra now has the score under its fingers and sounded fantastic. When I left the stage door, i ran smack into our E&T DR Jose, who was waiting to see Shuler. With him were hs friend Yosh and my friend Kevin Daly. We all went to the party. DR Ginny, I got two Playbills.
DR ChasSmith, I told harpist Susan Jolles she had a new fan. She's such a sweet lady. I'm very fond of her.
Physical therapy at 10:15. I am off to bed. I hope the Kritzerland show is going well.

For all you MHF fans, here's a clip from 11 years ago of Laura Benanti singing "Somebody, Somewhere." Actually, it's the first 10 minutes of the show with a great Emily Skinner, too. And the sound on Benanti is great.

Back home from a wonderful Kritzerland show - completely sold out and a great, GREAT audience. There were so many laughs in this show, it was just way too much fun. And the ballads were all stellar, too, but it was the funny material that made this show really special. Oh, what a cast this was - Sandy Bainum doing gorgeous work, Zachary Ford thrilling everyone with his beautiful voice, Maddy Claire Parks, Jenna Lea Rosen and Sami Staitman absolutely KILLING with the opening number - they did Dreamgirls - it was hilarious, of course, but more than that they nailed the damn thing - and with great choreography by Heather Hoppus-Werner - plus they each shone in their solo song, too - Maddy with It Might as Well Be Spring, Jenna with Pulled from The Addams Family, and Sami with Some People - Shannon Warne bringing the house down with her number about a performer nailing singing auditions then blowing the dance auditions, and Robert Yacko getting huge laughs with Something, which is Mr. Karp's answer to Nothing from A Chorus Line, and then doing one of my What If parodies - What if Frank Loesser, instead of writing Guys and Dolls had written Sweeney Todd - it was great. Add to that the magic of Andrea Marcovicci, and one of the highlights of my entire life - premiering the song I wrote with Richard M. Sherman with him playing and getting an incredible ovation after we finished. What a night! All accompanied by the wonderful Lloyd Cooper (Shelly Markham did the honors for Andrea). Next up - the May show.
-
Congrats, BK!
-
Our own Mark Wykof was there and told me he's really enjoying Red Gold - he's on chapter eleven.
-
BK, have you ever thought of recording some of the songs from your Kritzerland shows? Maybe a studio recording of highlights from the show...that would be cool!
-
Someday. :)
-
Our own Mark Wykof was there and told me he's really enjoying Red Gold - he's on chapter eleven.
Today, I've read the first five chapters. I'm enjoying it so far.
-
Yay, George is reading a book!
-
I don't know about recording songs - I've pondered it, certainly. But I did allow a lot of video to be shot of tonight's show and after I've seen the stuff I will post some of it to you tube.
