Well, you've read the notes, the notes were at 53, and now it is time for you to post until the 53 cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ASCESIS!
-
First post after BK!
-
Boy I am up early!
or
-
Boy I am up late!
-
Actually, I went to bed after the game, read for a while, and then turned off the lights. But for some reason, I just wasn't tired. So after counting blessings instead of sheep, I finally decided to get up.
-
Part of the problem was that I had a really yucky dinner tonight, of which I ate very little. My stomach was growling loudly, so I hoped a few slices of cheese will help settle it.
-
The other part is that I received a very lovely e-mail message from a very dear friend tonight. It just happened to arrive at a time that I really needed it, which was wonderful. However, it did key me up, which is making sleep difficult.
-
Tomorrow is a wide-open day, with nothing planned; so I guess it doesn't matter if I sleep now or sleep later.
-
What do other people do, when they can't sleep; if they don't have HHW to visit?
-
I guess I will try and read some more.
G'morning!
-
Hi, Tom!
-
Happy Birthday to (former) DR TPunk!
-
BK, Congrats on another successful Kritzerland show!! :D
-
Well, I'm off to bed.
Good night, Tom!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
It is nice to read that the Kritzerland Kids did so well last night.
-
Birthday wishes to TPunk!
-
Congrats to BK and the Kritzerland show!!!
-
Good morning, all! I have physical therapy this morning along with a few errands before I get home. Then, I'm back to the final two Moross numbers of Act One. One, a solo for Dick Shawn, will go very quickly. The Act One closer will take a bit of time.
Sorry to hear about the dragging tempo on the one number, BK, but it's nice to know that everything else went well.
-
Good morning, all.
Coffee!
-
Congrats on a wonderful 53, BK!
Very interesting about the dirge, but glad to hear that's all that went off the rails.
-
good morning to all

tod
Grand Budapest Hotel
I would like to see it up for Best Picture, Ralph Fiennes for Best Actor and it would be nice to see some of the other actors also be acknowledged. I am sure it will also be nominated for technical awards as well.
-
Sirius dropped one of their NPR Channels yesterday. The one with three hour block of reruns of Car Talk. Whenever I need a good laugh I would listen to it. Now it's gone. I'll have to see if it's out there on the internet.
-
Glad the show went so well last night!
-
Tuesday morning greetings! Back to Mom business today...
-
Congratulations to BK & company on last night's show!
-
So what's this I hear? Ohio State won the World Series?
Condolences to DR "Not a Buckeye" Ginny! :)
-
TOD:
Since they are not out on DVD yet, I haven't seen most of the pictures that are in contention.
However, I really liked BOYHOOD and THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, so I hope that they both do well.
Although I haven't seen her film, I also hope that Julianne Moore takes home a statuette. She is overdue.

LOL, DR ChasSmith!
There's not much humility within the OSU fan base...

Three words: goddam. effen. buses.
The first bus, which would have got me to therapy early, showed up at my bus stop as I was crossing the street. I walked toward it, waving my cane, got to the bus, and the asshole driver pulled away so I missed it. It was cruel and very deliberate. I want him dead.
I then waited 15 minutes till the next showed up. I boarded it, and on the way to 96th Street, we lost 10 minutes while we hadto stop and let wheelchair patients board and get locked into safety positions. By the time we got to 896th Street, I was late to my appointment and after anther five minute wait, the bus showed up, packed to the gills because the stop before mine is a subway transfer location, and I had another 5-minute wait for the next bus. At that point, I was so angry that I cancelled my appointment, went to the post office, and now I'm home, still pissed.

NYC vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
Great news about the show last night. Congratulations to MR BK & Co.
Continued writing vibes for MR BK.
-
elmore, are you eligible for Access-a-ride?
-
I have yet to see Julianne Moore's film....STILL ALICE....I think it's called. And I hope to see THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING this week.......
As for nominations....hmmmmm.....
Fienes, Keaton, Redmayne, Carell, Hawke for Best Actor - if Hawke is in BSA the he might get replaced by Cumberbatch or the guy from Selma
Moore and some others for Best Actress
Norton, Tatum, the Zero guy from B. Hotel, and Zach G.or JK Simmons for BSA
Patricia Arquette, Emma Stone & Naomi Watts, Meryl Streep and someone else
Picture: Birdman, Theory of Everything, Into the Woods, Grand Budapest Hotel, Boyhood, The Imitation Game, Whiplash, Selma
-
I really liked Birdman....it was interesting and strange and entertaining. And I thought Michael Keaton, Edward Norton, and Emma Stone all gave outstanding performances.
FOXCATCHER and SELMA both played fast and loose with the facts and are getting called on it, so I think that hurts their chances at a Best Picture/Actor win.....
Hawke and Arquette were perfect in BOYHOOD, and I really liked that film, too.
And then there's GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL which was all kinds of quirky and funny.
It's gonna be a tough call - but of course the money is out there to guarantee a win for somebody.....
-
But - I live in Indiana.
-
This speech by Emma Stone in BIRDMAN is wonderful and she nails it!
Means something to who? You had a career before the third comic book movie, before people began to forget who was inside the bird costume. You're doing a play based on a book that was written 60 years ago, for a thousand rich old white people whose only real concern is gonna be where they go to have their cake and coffee when it's over. And let's face it, Dad, it's not for the sake of art. It's because you want to feel relevant again. Well, there's a whole world out there where people fight to be relevant every day. And you act like it doesn't even exist! Things are happening in a place that you willfully ignore, a place that has already forgotten you. I mean, who are you? You hate bloggers. You make fun of Twitter. You don't even have a Facebook page. You're the one who doesn't exist. You're doing this because you're scared to death, like the rest of us, that you don't matter. And you know what? You're right. You don't. It's not important. You're not important. Get used to it.
-
NYC vibes for DR ELMORE.
I think some Rolls-Royce and chauffeur vibes might be in order.
-
But - I live in Indiana.
I wonder if you should start the Dream-o-matic Award for the Arts. It will become known as the "Dreamy Award" and it may start slow for a few years, maybe only on YouTube.
But within a couple of years, it will be picked up by cable, and eventually it will be bought by a major network as it becomes a reliable, or at least entertaining and fanciful, predictor for the other awards.

I like that idea DR FJL

I'm up, I'm up - seven hours, I think. I'm going to get the infernal busywork out of the way right now.
-
Busywork Begone!

Quiet around these here parts today.
-
Quiet around these here parts today.
I'm back at work after having taken yesterday off. It's slow here, too.
-
We are off to Dayton soon to pick up 3 boxes of books for the book sale from a grantwriter friend. We're meeting her at the deli where we were going to eat before going to a lecture at a nearby hospital. The program has been postponed due to the severe cold, so we'll get dinner "to go" for all 4 of us.
-
I've had a little nap and now I'm pondering dinner. Chicken soup, I'm thinking.

From DR Jennifer:
Feel better!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I can't borrow e-books from my library. But I have been borrowing a lot of e-books from other book-lovers. For many e-books on amazon.com you are allowed to loan them once. I am loving this feature!
Thanks. I think I ate too much today but I'm still holding from yesterday.
My eBook library is called Library2Go (OverDrive on the tablets) and it is separate from my regular library. Have you asked if there is another website for you to use for e-books? I looked it up and it should still be called Library2Go.
OverDrive is the app you need to download onto your Kindle.

From DR TCB:
That's not snow. It's MSG.
;D
-
Stuck at the Atlanta airport and who knows for how long. I've gotten four separate emails on the new time of my plane's departure. It bobs up and down the time scale. I don't know what to believe.
-
TOD:
I'd love to see Lindsay Duncan get a nomination for "Birdman," even though she's on screen for only three short screens. She's excellent and instantly memorable.
And I'd love to see Tilda Swinton up against her for "Snowpiercer."
-
Travel vibes for DR John!!!!!

I know 5 people with birthdays today. That is definitely a record for me.

What is wrong with everybody today?

In about an hour, I have to leave to go to a Theater Artists Olympia board meeting. This is our regular monthly meeting, which is in addition to our board retreat on Sunday.
-
It's a post. ::)
;)
-
Hello, everyone.
Thanks so much for all the health vibes. They're helping, but this is one tenacious bug!
-
Travel vibes to John G!

What do other people do, when they can't sleep; if they don't have HHW to visit?
I think this was a rhetorical question, but I'll answer anyway. When I get into bed the first thing I do is what I call the "gratitude drill." I review my day and give thanks for everything that went right. There are always so many things going on that it's easy to lose sight of things that went right--the focus is always on things that went wrong. There's often more that went right--by my standard, of course--than I would have thought.
-
Quiet around these here parts today.
I'm back at work after having taken yesterday off. It's slow here, too.
Are you feeling better, too, or just back to work?
-
So sorry about the buses, Larry.
-
Congrats to BK on a successful show and on lots of new pages.
-
Feel-better vibes to Jane.
-
Over the last couple days I've watched two food movies, LE CHEF and THE HUNDRED FOOT JOURNEY. I liked them both. That's a lot of food for someone who's hardly eating.
-
Got the busywork done this morning, the futzed and finessed. Had to do a bit of photo research and realized I'd gotten one slight detail wrong, but it actually served me well and I only had to adjust one thing. Then I had a patty melt and no fries or onion rings, then came right home. I wrote six pages, then finished choosing the songs for the next Kritzerland show - Jerome Kern. So hard - too many great songs, and I was in a hurry, but I just ended up with things I love plus a few I didn't know all that well but also love - and there are a couple that are rarely done, so that's always fun. We have a great cast and thank heavens John Boswell is back with us so that part will be a piece of cake. I'm waiting for the sheet music to arrive, then I'll get it to everyone, but I just go all that off my plate so I can now concentrate on writing the other six to eight pages I'd like to write before the end of the evening. I'll take a brief break now to clear the old noggin' then start up again around six. I'll probably write for ninety minutes then watch one of those Edgar Wallace mystery things because they're only an hour long.
-
TTFN.
-
Feel-better vibes to Jane.
Thank you, and to you as well. I'm sure you would like as mild of, a whatever I have, case vs what you have.

It is only for reading then? My original Nook had a library app. Does this also mean you can't buy books directly from your Kindle & have to do so using your computer?

Hi DR Mike. How are you feeling?

Should today be a holiday??

If your library has OverDrive, then Kindle versions of the books should be an option. I don't know if your library can choose to NOT allow Kindle editions if they're available, but a lot of the e-books through OverDrive have both epub and Kindle download options...but not all.
-
Well, it's time for me to leave work and to go to the monthly TAO board meeting.
Until later!
-
I just remembered, I did not have an OverDrive app on my original Nook. I downloaded the books from the computer to my Nook. It has been so long I forgot. Having an app is much more convenient.
-
Back then the library books were mostly for epub (Nook) and now many are also Kindle and some are only Kindle.
-
Getting closer.
-
One more.

Page four!

Am home at last.

The flights were fairly uneventful, but I got four messages from Southwest, each with different times for departure on the flight from Atlanta to San Antonio. And we didn't leave at any of them.
-
But the flight gave me enough time to finish Balzac's "A Murky Business," which was indeed murky because it was set against a backdrop of all the change that occurred before, during and after the French Revolution and then all the mess with Napoleon, who was a minor character.
But it was a really good tale in which he showed good people who sometimes pay for doing the right thing and the bad people who sometimes succeed by doing wrong.
-
Well, I've driven everyone off.
-
And I have to leave, too.
I need to get the bird at 7 a.m. and then head off to work.
-
I watched a movie, then wrote more pages - nine so far, with another three or four to come. I'll finish the current chapter and happily I know exactly what the next chapter will be.
-
Goodness! I have discovered the vast wasteland.
-
Has there been a national internet outage today or tonight?
-
Lucky 100!
-
Well, maybe not that lucky.
-
I still have not slept, except a couple of five minute naps.
-
I will turn in around eleven, and hopefully be able to fall asleep.

Yesterday's Topic of the Day:
I am an expert on casseroles. Eating them, not making them. My mother was a single-parent school teacher in the 50's. Not exactly a high paying career back then, especially for women. We had a lot of casseroles for dinner, with leftovers the next night. it is strange that my sister and I grew up at the same dinner table. She won't have anything to do with any food item that would fit in the casserole category. I, on the other hand, loved casseroles then and still love them today
-
Tuna casserole, shepherd's pie, chicken and rice -- they were all good! My favorite was her tamale pie. I think I have finally figured out her secret, so I am going to try making it again in a few weeks.
-
Of course, my sister also hates vegetables, which are often a large part of the casserole.
-
To this day, green beans are the only vegetable that my sister will even sample. I love most every vegetable, from lima beans to spinach.
-
Neither one of us is really a fruit eater, although I will eat a lot more than she will.
-
I have already forgotten today's topic, so I had better go check.
-
Ah yes, the Oscars!
-
There is a whole slew of Best Actor candidate this year. Someone is going to be snubbed.
-
Damn, I got kicked out of AOL. That very rarely happens to me.
-
Something is amiss with our dear readers in the evening. I just don't get it, frankly.
-
But we have time for a frenzy or nine.
-
Finished with my writing - did close to fourteen pages, so that's good.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Ho hum.
-
Hum ho.
-
A bitch-slapping we will go.
-
What a bunch of WUSSBURGERS.
-
Maybe people are having trouble getting online tonight. I have been kicked out of here three times in five minutes.
-
Very strange.
-
I know several regulars are not feeling well these days.
-
John finally made it home and has now crashed for the night.
-
Jeanne is still ill.
-
I'm watching last night's "Castle."
-
I am mentally ill.
-
Jane has been ill.
-
I am mentally ill.
I think I'm just illly mental.
-
I'm watching last night's "Castle."

Good night, BK!
Good night, wussburgers!

Good night, Tom!

And now for something completely different...there's a library-based comic strip called Unshelved (http://www.unshelved.com/), and late last year the writers had a Kickstarter campaign to digitize their books. I contributed and today I received their card catalog USB drive with all 11 of their books and this is what it looks like:
-
I've added them to my new Galaxy tablet but it's taking about 10 minutes for EACH book to load into the book reader and "process." I didn't realize that it would take so long. But I've got them and can read them!
-
You don't have to be a library worker to enjoy the comic strip.
