Good morning, all!

This computer is like Ol' ManRiver: the bad times just keep rolling along.  Last night i did a back up on one of my LaCie hard drives.  This morning, the hard drive informed me it wasn't completed, my efforts to reject the drive ended up in my relaunching Finder and now half of the hard drive is lost in my computer, I think!

Does anyone use a LaCie backup that shows up on the screen as two icons; one is "compatible" and that's the part i have stuck on my desktop. The other half is lost and sicne i cannpt remember what LaCie calls it, i cannot search for it! Can anyone help?

So, I've lost my backups from 2013 to now, and I am not amused.

I guess I'll be calling the Mac Man and pestering him today.

Tomorrow is the closing on my refinancing. This really was a lot simpler process than I thought it was going to be. And I can hardly believe they're sending the person to the house for the closing.

Can't remember when they're doing that, but it's the focus of one program.

(Update)
Well, I just checked the schedule. I may have to miss Don Juan, because it's next weekend, which is also this dance competition. Tonight is the Requiem, then Don Juan, followed by La Valse and finally Heldenleben.

Well, he doesn't go to Hollywood and play the Nomination Game. He needs to be on Access Hollywood and ET and Ellen and Meridith Viera and The Chew and The Talk and The View and The Real and Wendy Williams. He needs to be seen! It's not about talent, it's about being seen!

Thanks DR CILLA LIZ - I know appeals are automatic on DP cases.  I liked how the judge wrote her opinion on each motion that really makes each one less likely to be overturned, especially in this case - a felony murder one with premeditation and something about the violence of the crime....the horrible way it was done:  27 stab woulds, slit throat-near decapitation, gunshot to the head.....

DR BEN is correct, I should have gone after a nomination rather than waiting for one to come to me.

I could have been like Jennifer Aniston, who reportedly had rented two rooms at the Four Seasons hotel so she could talk to reporters about her Oscar nomination.....only....well....I hope she got her deposit back.

Friday morning greetings!  I have a very quiet day ahead, which is fine because yesterday was pretty busy.  My visit with Mom was not the most upbeat, but I got some business stuff accomplished on her behalf.  After a quick soup supper with Richard, I packed up the my special cookies and some fruit and went to Katie's for my book group's discussion of Under the Wide and Starry Sky by Nancy Horan.

So, a couple of weeks ago I was musing with my friend Sharon about finding a food clue in this month's book group selection.  She said, "It's too bad Girl Scout cookies aren't available yet - you could just bring Samoas,"  because the Stevensons eventually settle there.  So I Googled "homemade Samoas" and came up with a recipe.  Here is what's left:

Thanks for the advice, DR JRand64!

My Mac tells me the LaCie cannot be repaired, so I am backing it up onto an empty LaCie I discovered I had and forgotten about.  i hope this will work.  As long as the corrupted LaCie is on my desktop, I can access things but we'll see if this 12 hour backup (oy!) saves everything.

I will pnly contact the Mac Man if this fails.

Thank you, DRs John G and JRand!  The cookies were fun to make, although I had to tweak the recipe a bit.  It called for 8 ounces of chocolate, melted, and I used almost 20.  And I used my stand-by shortbread recipe instead of the one they provided.

FJL, loved these lyrics about the forthcoming revisal of Gigi:

Update to tune of The Night They Invented Champagne, as "Little Gigi" reads the tweets and writes back.

LITTLE GIGI:
What day in April will it get here?
Would the seats put us in debt here?
Why must chatters be curmudgeons,
Over casting of Miss Hudgens?
AUNT: Gigi, they are absurd. Don?t read ? another word

LITTLE GIGI:
Is everybody celebrating,
Or do some folks find this grating?
Can?t they read her acting hist?ry?
She?s an actress, it?s no myst?ry
AUNT: Gigi, stop sending tweets. Now come ? let?s buy our seats

GASTON:
Let her ask the questions, let her spread the chat
If she has suggestions, let her tell them where it?s at

LITTLE GIGI:
The chatters who kvetch and complain
Will learn they have a pro
Who?s more than just B.O.
The chatters who kvetch and complain
Will learn they have a star
Who?ll take the part real far

The people who go won?t complain
And she?ll charm everyone in sight
So let the buzz begin
The casting is win-win
And all the casting promises a special night

Well today turned out to be a disaster for me.

I ended up in the emergency room of the hospital.

I was having the calcium stimulation test when in the middle of it I had a bad reaction to it. I couldn't breathe and my heart started to race. All the nurses came into my room and they brought in a response team to keep me going. They put me on 100% oxygen and hooked me up to an IV. Grateful that the test was being administered that hospital so I didn't have far to go.

I am home now and tired from what they gave me. I am able to breathe on my own now.

Well, here's the end of the LaCie saga:  I was able with the app iSkysoft Data Recovery ro locate withn the Mac the corrupted LaCie disc with my backups from 2012 to 2014.  I cannot save ths but it's on my desktop for now, and i am going download by download, extracting the Desktop for each download, taking the files I need and then backing them up to my latest 3TB LaCie.  It's taking forever, but it's better than losing everything completely. I'm up to August 2013, and I had to skip three dates in 2012 fr now.  Theu're karge, so I will download them last.

So, I'm proud of myself for accomplishing so much as a complete Computer Moron.

Congrats on the success...cumbersome as it may be.

And now, I'm off to the theater to usher for the Good Lovelies.  I'm sure that it'll be a great concert...I just hope that I don't have a coughing fit at ANY point during the evening. :-\

Until later!

Then I wrote more pages.  I'm done for the evening - did thirteen in total and got over one hump and began a new chapter.  I'm down to the last four chapters now.  And when I was showering before going for the snack, I also solved a problem I was having trouble solving, so I wrote all that stuff down.  This last chapter took a while to get right, structure-wise, but I think it came out fine.  I'm sure I'll futz and finesse, although I tend to do that as I go if I have trouble getting something right.

Tomorrow is the closing on my refinancing. This really was a lot simpler process than I thought it was going to be. And I can hardly believe they're sending the person to the house for the closing.

we go to homes. offices, airports, diners, wherever and whenever it works for our clients (which is one of the reasons I work so many crazy hours)

You should have asked if Vixmom could do the transaction. She seems to be the best closer on Long Island  ;D

I left work  by 6 Pm and the Vixter and I went to see Into the Woods together.  She was particularly sad about the loss of "No More"  but over all she  really liked it

The audience we saw it with today were much more responsive to the funny parts and there was out right laughing and clapping during Agony

Good evening.  Finished an amazingly busy week.  Tomorrow will also be busy.  I may go to American Sniper on Sunday or I may just sit.  I start a jury trial on Tuesday and need to have a little mental down time before I really dive in with the final prep

Tomorrow morning I'm having coffee with a friend who I haven't heard much from in a while.  She had some hard times and sort of pulled away from our group of friends.  She's reached out in December and again this week.  I'm looking forward to it.

Is prosecco a fad everywhere or just here?  It seems to be turning up at parties quite regularly.  I found it quite tasty tonight at a birthday party

So I don't know if you saw my  rant about jury duty a while ago Cilla,   but  from your perspective , do you find people  actively tryingto answer questions in a way toavoid being chosen?

Tomorrow night some friends are having a party to create Jackson Pollock inspired clothing and or accessories to wear to a party celebrating The Mural that has been on display at our art center since July.  It leaves in April to tour the world or something like that.  It's home is at the U of Iowa.  I used to go look at it to try to figure out why it was such a big deal.  It's been restored so now the colors are more brilliant, but I still can't figure out why it's such a big deal..

Hmmm just read it's a lot lower in alcohol than champagne.  Maybe the low alcohol content is why it's catching on

Sometimes, but normally the judge nips that in the bud and people become resigned to the idea they have to do it.  Our trial will likely be 1 1/2 days.  It's not a complicated case.  Jurors are usually relieved to be on that sort of case

Earlier this evening we were at the liquor store buying red wine on the way to dinner at a friend's house. I noticed that they had about 20 different flavors of bitters. I thought it was interesting. I don't know what you'd use them for, exactly, but I thought it was interesting.

Fortunately, I was right next to an exit and although the door handle and hinges weren't absolutely silent, I was able to open and close the doors much more quietly than the regular patrons.  They have no clew about such things.

The concert was just the three women of the group and their bass player, a guy named Ben.

The women played guitar, banjo, mandolin and sang.  They had a tight, three-part harmony for just about all the songs and their harmonies were VERY tight...very good singers.
