Well, you've read the notes, the notes were bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, and now it is time for you to post until the bright-eyed and bushy-tailed cows come homes.
-
And the word of the day is: AMBIT!
-

-
Oh - perhaps that's a sunset. I know not which.
-
Or whither.
-
First post after Singdaw and what exactly am I doing up at three in the damn morning. No, I didn't wake up, I haven't been able to fall asleep. I guess I'll go try that now.
-
The Kritzerland site has been moved and is working properly. But he's not moving us until tomorrow because he wants his team to be there to make sure everything is functioning properly, especially this board - last time we moved some settings got screwy and they had to go in and reset them.
-
Second post after my first post.
-
Shouldn't lost rhyme with post. If most can rhyme with post then lost should rhyme with post or post should rhyme with lost - what is WRONG with these word people?
-
I am sorry for bk and any DRs who are having trouble getting a good amount of sleep.
-
That kind of impacts every other area of your life. :P
-
It wasn't as hot here yesterday as it was for DR Cillaliz, but still we tied an all-time record high at 84 degrees (for this time of year).
Today it will be in the 60s - still pretty unusual.

Good morning, all.

Dead of Night
The Possessed
The Martian Chronicles
Trilogy of Terror
Lonesome Dove
Smiley's People / Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
The Executioner's Song
Sweet Hostage (which may or may not have been any good, but I had a post-Exorcist Linda Blair thing going on then)
Okay, so some of those were mini-series. Sue me. :)
-
I know I'm forgetting a bunch of worthy titles.
-
Good morning, all! I slept late, and I have been to the market. made the bed, ands tidied the apartment. My friend Peter will come by shortly, retrieve his cables, and help me with a few questions.
-
I slept quite well, and I remember bits of a a dream in which I was orchestrating "And This Is My Beloved" for a string quartet to play at a gallery. Liz Callaway might have been it it, but I no longer could be sure.
-
I must have some breakfast, take my meds, and cart some trash to the basement.

Knee vibes for Mike
Thanks. Seeing the doctor on Wednesday. Still having some pain

Monday morning greetings! It's a beautiful fall day here in SW Ohio. Perfect for grocery shopping, then a trip to Oxford for a program about Butler County parks.
-
The weekend here was beyond gorgeous, with cool nights and warm sunny days, the perfect recipe for incredible color. A couple more days of it, then the temperature takes a dive from the mid-70s into the mid-50s.
-
This fall so far has been the best in the past several years.
-
So wonderful to have a day of rest. I'm going to go down to the Music Room soon to clean and sample the records acquired at the library sale. Then I'll clean up some things and maybe go outside to work for a little bit.
-
Oh! -- tomorrow evening, a wonderful thing --
I'm going down to Scarsdale NY where one Robert Harris will be presenting excerpts and discussing the MY FAIR LADY digital restoration at a high-end audio/video salon.
-
TOD:
I really don't know what the Golden Age of TV movies is. I didn't know there was a Golden Age for TV movies. I admit there was a time when I was watching a lot of Lifetime original movies and many of them were quite good. I tended to like anything that had Meredith Baxter in it. "Darkness Before the Dawn" and "Kate's Secret" were quite gripping.
-
I just got a lovely email from the gentleman from the Michael J. Colligan History Project and an interesting one from a high school classmate. Ty Thomas, who works in photography and television. He learned this trade as a marine doing war photography during the Viet Nam mess. He's been reporting on Middletown Ohio ghosts, and we've been exchanging info on apparitions and southwestern Ohio legendary ghosts.
-
I also heard from Peter. He will be here around 11:00.
-
I am sorry for bk and any DRs who are having trouble getting a good amount of sleep.
Thank you.
-
I think Bruce jinxed me last night as I woke up exactly 90 minutes after falling asleep. Fortunately I fell back to sleep in about 15 minutes and slept until 6:30.
-
That kind of impacts every other area of your life. :P
It sure does. I run on limited energy.

I hope this is normal and will eventually go away.

I have just paddled into new elder care waters - looking into cashing in some of Mom's investments because her bank accounts are dwindling. Pray for Rosemary's baby...
-
When I previewed the pictured yesterday it was there.
So I will try again.
When I hear Dan Tana I think of this
If I ate at the restaurant I don't recall it. I wonder if there is a connection between the two.
-
I have just paddled into new elder care waters - looking into cashing in some of Mom's investments because her bank accounts are dwindling. Pray for Rosemary's baby...
Good vibes while you do this.
-
Vibes for DR GINNY......I am doing some of the same thing....they always want some information that you don't have.....
-
Nice bushy-tailed notes.
DR CHAS SMITH that sounds like a very funny play, but Ludwig's plays have a royalty arrangement like musicals....it depends on your ticket price and seating....not a straight royalty like most plays. So his works are much more expensive to produce....which is too bad.
-
I may just buy this one to read anyway......
-
TOD:
A Case of Rape - with an outstanding performance by Elizabeth Montgomery
A Trilogy of Terror
The House on Green Apple Road
Night of Terror - with Valerie Harper
And I am sure there will be a few more that I remember as other Dear Readers ost their lists. Some already mentioned are very good, I just posted a few.
-
TOD:
The only ones that come to mind:
The Gathering
Scenes from a Marriage
The "Up" series from Michael Apted in which he interviews the same people every seven years
That Certain Summer
The Legend of Lizzie Borden
The Night Stalker
-
TOD:
I really don't know what the Golden Age of TV movies is. I didn't know there was a Golden Age for TV movies.
I haven't looked it up to see if there's an official consensus, but I'd describe it as the very-late-1960s to mid-1980s. A few of these classics might have been produced for the then-new cable channels, but the remarkable thing is that most of these movies and mini-series were produced for regular network TV. And as TV goes, they were "events". You tuned in and watched, and you discussed them at work the next day.

Thanks, DR Jane.

DR Elmore, that classmate with the Middletown ghosts is very nice to have contacted you. Sounds like it will be a most interesting subject.
-
Vibes for DR GINNY......I am doing some of the same thing....they always want some information that you don't have.....
Same to you, DR JRand. I'm kind of stuck for today because it's Columbus Day and my next question is for Michelle at the bank. So, on to other things...
-
In case my question was missed last night, any New Yorkers' thoughts on NYGASP? We're thinking about seeing their IOLANTHE next month at NYU.
-
I didn't really address mini-series. But on that list:
Salem's Lot
Holocaust
Rich Man, Poor Man
Roots
I, Claudius
It
Lonesome Dove
The Pallisers
The Forsyte Saga (both versions)
The Thorn Birds
The Awakening Land
-
Vibes for Dr Ginny.

Elizabeth Montgomery's name on a project was enough to get me to watch it.

Has anyone read "The Goldfinch" from Donna Tartt? Thoughts? Opinions?

Thanks, DR John G.

I have it on my list of books to read, however, I'm not convinced I really want to read it.
-
I agree with DR JOHN G and DR JANE....
I will also add Montgomery's THE LEGEND OF LIZZIE BORDON to my list.
She also did a 2-part adaptation of DARK VICTORY - updated so that she played a television news anchor - which had some good moments.
-
Oh my....I thought of another one....a two-part one, I think.
ORPHAN TRAIN
-
In case my question was missed last night, any New Yorkers' thoughts on NYGASP? We're thinking about seeing their IOLANTHE next month at NYU.
One word: pathetic.
-
Another three words: Camp. Mangled music.
Another word: embarrassing.
-
Peter spent two hours running through all my questions, helping me with Microsoft Word problems, and then we had a nice 2-hour lunch at The french Roast. Such a good friend!

She was at her best in The Awakening Land with Hal Holbrook.

You make it sound kinda second rate.
-
I'm up, I'm up. Didn't fall asleep till around four and woke up around eleven-thirty. I have to fix this problem, as I can't really get up that late anymore. But is today a holiday or is it not a holiday?

That was good!!!
I still love her best in the Twilight Zone episode with Charles Bronson.
-
Today is a holiday if you work for the post office and a few other places. Schools are still open.
-
Schools here are closed.
-
I'm surprised.
-
Yesterday I attempted to figure out if any schools were closed and didn't find any, at least not around here and Craig is working.
-
I'm curious which other schools are opened or closed.
-
I'm surprised.
If they can take a day off, they will. That the San Antonio way.
-
LOL
-
A problem with the internet is falling in love with my friend's pets. Too many Bernese Mountain Dogs lost in one week, including Sherlock's brother. :'(
-
This cry face makes me laugh. Instead of a tear coming down the mouth twitches.
-
Back from some food at Jerry's Deli - I actually tried something new - their Chinese Chicken salad and it was actually very good.
-
They're shooting a commercial at the usual house - I'm thinking someone bought that house specifically to rent out for shoots. I wonder, in fact, if anyone actually lives there. I may try to find out, because I think there is probably some law or something in LA that would preclude buying a house, not living in it, and renting it out for shoots as the sole purpose, at least I would hope there would be something to preclude that. They've got production vehicles for BLOCKS - I mean they are parked on at least three full blocks - for a commercial. I mean, really.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I may not be bright-eyed, but my ponytail is usually rather bushy.
-
So glad to hear all the good news from DR Elmore. A great trip, a new Mac, lovely meals with friends. I hope all this goodness continues!
-
DR Ginny, sorry to hear about the floaters. I get them, too, and they can be quite annoying. Vibes they go away as suddenly as they appeared.
-
Knee vibes to DR Mike.
-
No-more-pain vibes to DR John G!
-
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ to all who need them!
-
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO DR JENNIFER!
Don't we have another Canadian here? If so, my apologies.
-
Bruce, most insurance companies do not want to insure an empty house. I don't know about any laws prohibiting someone from buying a house and then not living in it, but the insurance companies can be sticky about it.
-
Elder care and estate vibes to DRs Ginny and JRand.
-
TTFN.

That's the English language (http://ncf.idallen.com/english.html) for you.
;)

I am sorry for bk and any DRs who are having trouble getting a good amount of sleep.
I also have trouble getting a good amount of sleep, but in my case it's because I don't usually go to sleep when I go to bed. I'm still watching TV or (recently) on my tablet, or both, and just not making the decision to go to sleep.

Really? We didn't have a problem insuring our condo before we moved it. It was very inexpensive too since the outside is covered by the HOA. When we sold the other house we changed the insurance for the contents only. I expect most people would have other home/car, etc insurance and the company would gladly do it.
-
DR Jeanne how are you?
Continued Healing Vibes!
-
Resting my voice - too hoarse right now and it's irritating, since I'm not sick.
-
Still being told the move is happening today and yet it hasn't happened. If it hasn't happened by six then the point of waiting until today will be gone - i.e. having the staff there to insure there are no problems. I'll keep you all posted.
-
I'm sure this is rather annoying for you.
-
Oh! -- tomorrow evening, a wonderful thing --
I'm going down to Scarsdale NY where one Robert Harris will be presenting excerpts and discussing the MY FAIR LADY digital restoration at a high-end audio/video salon.
That should be amazing!!

I'm being told it's happening momentarily. They're testing a couple of more things in terms having synched the files and everything. Once that's done, I'm told they will take the site off-line, test everything one final time, then bring it back on the new server in the new data center. I've asked how long we'll be off line but haven't received a response - hopefully it will be brief.

We'll be checking. Oh yes, we'll be checking.

How is the new machine working DR ELMORE?
Did you post about it, and I missed it?
Very excited about your new television set DR GEORGE.
-
Yes DR CHAS SMITH that should be an interesting evening.

I forgot about today being Columbus Day today (with its implications), and actually went to my bank before I realized that it was closed. :P

It has been a cool week. But today it was 70s and I biked wearing shorts. I love that weather and will be sad when it gets cool again.

I will, too. Today was beautiful. I don't want it to leave.

Help. I am stuck back on October 12.
-
Today is actually November 20, 2015. I have been watching too much sci-fi, and I have gone back in time
-
WTF??
-
Today is actually November 20, 2015. I have been watching too much sci-fi, and I have gone back in time
I walked away and returned to find I had gone back in time, again.
-
Unless I was mistaken and I never saw the 20th.
-
How arbitrary - October 12??? Must text our host right now - I don't think it was that way when I changed it last night - in fact I know it wasn't. My guess is they did something in the middle of the night.
-
I'm up after nine hours of sleep. Did anyone post earlier than TCB's post five above this one, the one that says "Today"? Need that answer.
-
Well, if you look at the main page of the discussion board there's no thread after October 12th so clearly something went wrong somewhere and I'm sure they'll get it all back. Hang tight.
-
Waiting for the return of November.
-
It happened around 9:15 or 9:20 this morning. Everything was normal. I'd read the notes and the first posts, and had just posted my first one when everything kind of went away.
-
The head guy is in a meeting and won't even acknowledge my texts and says he'll call back - he didn't call back yesterday, so i'm not hopeful of today. Their main tech guy I'm on the phone with now - he wasn't "aware" of the problem but now sees it - the entire site, the blog, the board and the ARCHIVES are all October 12. If they've lost the last five weeks there is going to be hell toupee, that's all I can tell you. Obviously I can resurrect last night's blog and that's it. I can't imagine they wouldn't have a way to figure this out, but I'm hyperventilating right now. I guess the only light is that these current posts now say today.
-
So, BK's first two posts, and DR Elmore's and whoever else had posted before me -- they were all in the Nov. 20th thread. I think mine hit the board just in time to be the last one. A few from DR Elmore were just before mine.
-
BK, the Oct. 12 posts before these indicate this is exactly the point at which that quick downtime and move took place last month.
-
Yes, it seems so - I've been on hold for ten minutes. And hyperventilating.
-
Just to be clear -- that's eastern time, when it happened today -- 9:15 or 9:20 AM eastern.
-
I clicked on preview and got:

Am I the only one who can't see DR Chas?
-
Am I the only one who can't see DR Chas?
No, I'm invisible, and I figured out why: It was within these past few weeks that I uploaded the photo to the site. So now, until everything's restored, it's simply not there.
-
But I just uploaded it again, for the HELLUVIT. :)
And I changed its name so there won't be two of them later.
-
Am I the only one who can't see DR Chas?
No, I'm invisible, and I figured out why: It was within these past few weeks that I uploaded the photo to the site. So now, until everything's restored, it's simply not there.
I'm glad you figured out the problem and I can see you again.
-
Don't do anything else - he knows what happened and when it happened (why he's just realizing it now is anyone's guess) and he's going to fix it so hang tight. When we synched this morning it pointed us to the wrong database and therein lies the problem. He'll get it to point to the right one and hopefully all these current posts, the last fifteen or whatever will come over but I guess there's a chance they could also not come over but they can deal with that once the main problem is fixed. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes he said.
-
So let's not post till it's fixed.
