Title: MR. SANDMAN
Post by: bk on November 22, 2015, 12:31:44 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Mr. Sandman, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - Mr. Sandman is currently bringing them a dream filled with peaches but no cream because the cows find the cream part patently offensive.

The conglomerate that bought the A&P supermarkets then the Pathmark Supermarkets and the Waldbaum's supermarket chains ( the latter two having a large presence here on the island of long) declared bankruptcy a while back.  All the path marks and Waldbaums store have been closing and the Ones right here in my neighborhood both closed this week

So yesterday when I went out to do the Thanksgiving shopping ( I waited until around 5 thinking the crowds would be less) my local choices were limited to Bj's and Stop And Shop.  Both of which were jam packed

They also back up to the Tanger Oulet mall which I learned had had their tree lighting ceremony preceded by a visit from Santa and two of the Radio Ciity Music Hall Rockettes and then a concert by some guy name Jacob white sides  (never heard of him) so the entire area was mobbed

Good morning, all!  This morning, i wanted to sleep late but could not.  The chord progression E-flat, D major, D seven, G minor would not stop bothering me.  It began in a dream, something involving my brother randy who was about 10 in itm a guitar,  my dead Aunt Lois, and God knows who else.  After I got out of bed to check the time and went back to bed, the chord progression kept rolling on like Ol' Man River.

As we get closer to the end of the year (5 weeks to go) I am looking back and saying not a good one.

I finally had my knee replacement. Good but I do not have full mobility in it and I still need to wear a knee brace. Because of pain I have problems with my right leg swells up.

While in the hospital I had an adverse reaction to one of the medicines I was taken and it was attacking my pancreas.

I continued to have stomach discomfort after leaving the hospital. So I saw the GI who saw me in the hospital. After taking medications to see if it could help the stomach discomfort he did an endoscopy,

Well I have Barret's esophagus and Celiac Disease and which made me gluten intolerant.

However stomach pain continued and I was sent to another specialist. He looked at my blood work and MIRs and send he wanted to do an endoscopy and ultrasound of the pancreas.

That was done on Thursday. The preliminary results is chronic Pancreatitis and biopsies were taken as well. I find out the results in two weeks.

I am finally glad to know what I have after the stomach problems began five years ago after getting food poisoning and doing ever kind of test under the sun which all turned out negative but early results thought that I had everything from Chrones to Cancer.

It's something that I manage from day to day as it will never go away. Some are better than others.

The past few days not so good.

I am posting this as people have ask in the past how things are going and I have been bad about reading later postings daily. By the time I come home from work (full work days now) I am tired with very low energy and don't go on line a lot.

I've been on HHW a long time and I owe it to all you wonderful people here to let you know what is happening.

Thank you all and god bless everyone.

Freewebs has NEVER responded to any of my emails concerning their freezing my website - The Real Allison Hayes.

The information there has been the go to site for every article I have read about her since it was first posted more than 10 years ago.  I updated it regularly and added photos and articles that I would find here and there.  It was linked on her IMDB page. I took the link down since it couldn't be accessed.

I wanted Freewebs to let me access it so i could take it and move it to another service.  They will NOT respond to my emails or even tell me WHY it was frozen.  The general page that comes up says "Terms of Service", but I'm not sure what would be in violation, unless one of the photographs was flagged by someone.

SO -  I guess I will start re-writing the entire thing.

I am hungry, but I don't want to eat as I am going out for sushi for lunch. I love sushi!  Well actually I don't like the raw fish sushi, but I love everything else that you can have at a sushi restaurant.  I really enjoy this place because you order all you can eat for the whole table and then you can try many different things. And you can keep ordering until everyone is full.  My stomach gets upset very easily but so far that has never happened while eating sushi.

We lost the town's two Waldbaums some years ago.  Then a brand new A&P opened, and it was a nice store.  Now that's dead and Shop Rite is taking it over, as they have a number of other A&P stores elsewhere.

Have made the decision not to go to my parents for Thanksgiving.  The forecast is really iffy.  Maybe hard rain, maybe ice, maybe snow.  Instead of stressing I bought my own little turkey and all the sides I love and am going to make my own feast. I'll get to have left overs for the first time in years.   I told my mom and she said "I don't blame you, after all we just saw you at the wedding".  So nice not to have to stress about it. AND I'm totally in the mood to cook a feast.   Callie hasn't stopped purring

Jrand, first of all, find a phone number and call Freewebs and get someone to explain to you the problem.  Once they do, then you'll at least know that.  At that point, you can tell them you want complete access, even if it's privately, to remove your content.  If they deny that, threaten them with legal action.  If someone has made a complaint about copyright infringement, they cannot make that determination - they can take the site off-line, but cannot deny you your material.

In the meantime, before you do ANYTHING, go to Google and search "cached web pages" - there are a bunch of places that have them - Google, Archived Web Pages and three or four others - that's how we were able to recover all but one of the notes that were missing.  If you find your archived pages you can cut and paste the content.

Looking at the sections of his site listed, I do think I recovered ALL the writing because it all seems to be on the home page - the only other pages are photos and not writing.  So, at least he has all the writing - I hope I have the right e-mail address, but I have it saved now in Word, so he doesn't have to write anything over.

DR Cillaliz, I just read the article and now I want to read the book!

You can order it on Amazon.  The E book is a draft and it isn't the final version. I can let you know when they update that, but she put it on Amazon last summer.   The paperback is the final version.  Amazon says it's unavailable, or at least it did.  But when there are orders, then Amazon will order from the publisher.  It's how they set it up.

Isn't cooking Thanksgiving a challenge for you, DR vixmom, given the long lists of foods that the rest of the vixfamily will not eat?

well fortunately traditional Thanksgiving dinner (for this non Italian family) does not include pasta, rice, Parmesan cheese, garlic, and there are enough different vegetables and types of potatoes that everyone will eat something[/i/] --- and everyone will eat turkey

I too had a few quibbles in the directors choices regarding some  blocking and lighting.... but the actors were all marvelous and I loved the passion and joy evident in the dancing

The biggest difference between the e book and the paperback is that it was edited by the local historian and author who gives the editorial review.   There have also been changes made to make the story flow better.   That being said.  I have only read the e version and although I recommended some changes to make it flow better. Vixmom, have you ever gone to the parade?

Once when I was still single in my 20's  I went.  It was back in the late 70's and it was a beautiful day in the 50's  I was wearing my flatcap and down vest and boots (and night jeans no doubt)  and had my SLR camera slung around my neck and I wandered from herald Square all the way uptown to near the starting point somewhere in the 60's.  Everyone in a while the parade would stop and the performers would do a little routine.  I noticed that the press photographers were inside the barricades running along with the parade taking pictures.   So I slipped inside the barricades (1970's security was much more relaxed) and ran along with the parade snapping pictures and enjoying myself immensely .

I was nearly to Herald Square before a police officer finally asked where my press pass was... I look down as if I was surprised to see it missing and grinned at him and he just grinned back and said back to the sidewalk Missy!  Happy Thanksgiving!

I forgot to mention that since I arrived earlier than expected I treated myself to a coffee at the Europa Cage across the street from the theatre.  It was a bit crowded since there were approximately 250 Spirit of America girls there all ready to march in the Macy's parade on Thursday  morning.  The chaperone told me this was  just one of the groups; apparently there are 1300 of these cheerleaders taking in the Manhattan sights this week

Back from the birthday bash and concert - the latter went very well.  I asked the host to simply introduce me at the start and he said he also had just a couple of things to say - I knew that was a disaster in the making and it was - nice guy that he is, public speaking and keeping it short is not something he knows how to do - fifteen minutes later he finally announced me.  The show itself ran very smoothly and my show order really worked.  Ultimately, I would have cut two numbers and it would have been better, but, you know, this isn't a professional thing.

Oh and to answer Chas' inquiriy:

Elmore ordered the potato pancake appetizer which he kindly shared with me and we each had a stuffed cabbage appetizer (which is about the size of a football)

I also partook of a chocolate eggcream and rice pudding and coffee for afters

Thanks, Jane, but I think I noticed symptoms too late to prevent them.  If I had gotten some Dimetapp yesterday, I might've prevented the onslaught.  Oh, well.

I hadn't eaten one thing, so after the concert they made all the performers some more food (the guests had pretty much decimated the dinner food), but I didn't like the pasta sauce (some pesto thing) and the chicken didn't taste good to me either, so I stopped on the way home and got two chicken breasts from Popeye's.  They were out of biscuits, and that was fine with me.  Breasts were good.
