Well, you've read the notes, the notes were at last complete again, and now it is time for you to post until the complete cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FORESHORTEN!
-
First post after BK!
-
I never go anywhere without my cell phone.
-
If my car broke down, or I was in an accident, I would be lost without a phone.
-
LOST WITHOUT A PHONE - it's a terrifying thought, and sounds like a title for one of those high-concept thrillers, like SNAKES ON A PLANE.
-
First post on the east coast!
-
TOD:
ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA
-
DR FJL - I am glad that you had a good trip for the family event. It is nice that you could be there.
-
I forgot my phone yesterday as well. I don't like driving back and forth from Manhattan alone without it in case there is an incident or accident or undue delay
-
TCB, is it truly unusual to put slaw and pickles out on the table in a restaurant in Washington? It is a usuAl thing in diners and delis .... What about the rest of the country? Tell e DRs all, is this truly only a NY tradition ?
-
DR FJL - I am glad that you had a good trip for the family event. It is nice that you could be there.
Ditto. I meNt to mention that yesterday
-
Well hi ho hi ho.... You know the rest
-
Good morning, all.
Happy Monday vibes.
-
Great story, Vixmom, about the parade.
-
Thankfully, most of us can work from home this week.
-
And speaking of that, I need to get to work.
-
Good Morning-- even on a Monday.
-
Good morning, all.
And may it be a good Monday for the lot of us.
-
In my experience, it's delis, specifically, that put out the pickles and sometimes other accoutrements such as slaw, pickled carrots or whatnot. I'm also pretty sure that the delis in my past, in other locales, did likewise.
Vixmom, do the the NYC/LI/NJ diners do it, too, for sure? I don't think the New England ones do. But whenever and wherever it's done, it's a tradition I love.
-
I was going to add this to my post about LULU, but life got in the way and I never got back to it. Here's the NY Times review that describes the Kentridge production. I think I'm going to go back to the "encore" showing a week from Wednesday.

Good morning, all! I slept late. After the excitement of yesterday, i'm moving very slowly this morning.
-
I have no plans, just puttering about, paying a few bills, looking over my work tab;e contents and pondering what to tackle first. It doesn't help that all I really want to do is go back to bed.
-
Monday morning greetings! Today's grocery shopping day for Thanksgiving. I'll try to get everything but the turkey, which is on order to be picked up Wednesday. There will only be 6 at our table this year...

At Izzy's, a Cincinnati chain, they put pickles and sauerkraut on the table. Makes my mouth water, just writing about it!

Amen.

I remember this at Mort's Vienna Deli in Chicago.

I don't recall ever seeing this at a dinner. Not all deli's do it anymore.
-
DR TCB I rarely buy a donut or go into downtown Portland. The bagels, to our delight, are close to home. They don't make my favorite, egg, howver their cinnamon raison are the best I have ever had. They make three delicious varieties of cheese and Keith also enjoys the onion ones.
-
Great story, Vixmom, about the parade.
It was.
-
I've started to answer the TOD twice, only to experience brain freeze, and I almost passed out running my eye up and down his IMDb page.
-
Well, they can't say my brain freeze didn't get us to page two.
-
Back to the sidewalk, Missy!
-
Congrats to MR BK & Crew on their show. It sounds like a lot of fun was had by all. And I will file away the "year Jews took the world by storm" joke for use sooner or later.
Very interesting link DR SINGDAW, which begs the question, why did they choose the play in the first place? If you have CHANGE so much, pick another play. Of course they may have just been familiar with the film which doesn't have quite so many of those "problems" in it.
-
Loved the photos of DR VIXMOM and DR ELMORE.
The FIDDLER logo is nice. There has been some talk on the innerweb about a "new" opening for the show.....what did they do?
-
Again ANOTHER thanks to MR BK for finding an archived version of my web biography of Allison Hayes - I am porting it over to BLOGSPOT.....doing some editing and adding some new photos.
I will post a link when it is finished.
-

It stinks and should be cut. I've modified this post because the show is in previews and the "improvements" may go before it opens.

Oh, I know that. I just like to give them a plug whenever the time arises.

Okay....thanks DR ELMORE....

I had a long drawn out dream this morning. I was working on this film staring Ian McKellan and Judi Dench. it took place at a university. Interestingly, Sir Ian was playing a straight English professor and Dame Judi was playing a lesbian university president, and they were fighting over the love of a young female student, who was in love with the handsome and virile P.E. instructor. They had reached the pivotal scene in the film, and they were stuck with how to play the final scene. Fortunately, I, the lowly stage hand stepped forward and saved the film.
-
God, what a
latent talent I am.
-
:)
-
I'm up, I'm up - I woke up at three-thirty after ninety minutes of sleep, didn't fall back asleep until five-thirty, was up before end and slept again until now - I don't know somewhere between five and six hours of sleep, I guess.
-
I'd read about the "new" opening (which I think bookends with the closing) and it's loathsome and I hope they get rid of it, too. Fiddler doesn't need directorial "help."
-
Congrats on the successful show, BK!

I've never experienced this in any restaurant that I've ever been to. Maybe that's just a reflection on the "quality" (or lack thereof) of the restaurants that I've been to. ::)

According to his IMDb listing, Ennio Morricone (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001553/reference) has over 500 composer credits! But that includes direct-to-video programs and TV works.
-
I'm here for a second consecutive day! This may be unprecedented.
TV shows I am currently watching:
Homeland
The Affair
Downton Abbey
The Big Bang Theory
Law & Order: SVU
Fresh Off the Boat
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
Fargo
Modern Family
South Park
Also, earlier this year, I binged on "Justified," which has ended its run.
Anybody watch these shows? What's the best show you're watching?
-
DR TCB I think that was a Lifetime Movie you were working on.
-

I have never heard of it here.

The "Welcome to My World (http://www.kritzerland.com/welcome_world_sheet.htm)" vocal selections has arrived! My only comment would be that the pages aren't numbered. I don't know how difficult that would've been to do, but it's easy to flip through the book and find the song you want.
Thanks, BK!

I'm up, I'm up - I woke up at three-thirty after ninety minutes of sleep, didn't fall back asleep until five-thirty, was up before end and slept again until now - I don't know somewhere between five and six hours of sleep, I guess.
Welcome to my world.
-
Due to the way PDFs work and they way this was all laid out, and because we also sell single sheets, there was no real way to do consecutive page numbers, too. There is one typo for those who'd like to fix it - it's in I Want at the end of the song - they lyric should read "I want to have three kids, one girl, two boys" the typo version reads I want to have three kids one girl, one boy - someone doing the take-down isn't very good at math or they would have caught it.
-
LOL
Math is not my long suit.

You need to experience a proper Jewish deli.

I think I might watch my DVD of JEWS 3-D.

Jews or Jaws DR Jrand?
-
I'm back from my weekend in Buffalo. Yesterday, DR Kate and I went Christmas shopping. We got a good amount done.
-
I went to Junior's in NYC a few times when I was there in September and October and they served pickles, cole slaw and beets (once, I think). That was the first time I heard about this custom.
-
Great photo of DRs vixmom and elmore!
-
Loved reading about your dream, TCB!

Congrats to BK on another successful show!

Welcome to my world.
Someone should write a show with that title!

Thanks for sharing the Lulu review link, DR ChasSmith.
I heard she's...

Well, you know the rest. 8)

Most people don't know that in Hugh Wheeler's original draft of Sweeney Todd, the line went:
At last, my arm is complete again.
And boy, are my arms tired.

That makes sense...about the page numbering throughout the songbook. And I just noticed that there are pages numbers for each individual song. I hadn't noticed that before.
-
My Welcome to My World folio also arrived today. It looks terrific! Can't wait to get to the piano and pound out some notes.
-
I hadn't noticed that before.
That is My New Philosophy. :)

Interesting ;D
-
Well, I'm not feeling great, so I'm going to leave work and go home. I have lots of sick leave, so I can do that. :)
-
I actually am going to come in late to work tomorrow, because I have a scheduled dentist appointment in the morning. I hope that my having a cold won't affect my dental appointment. We'll see.
Until later!
-
Be well tomorrow.

Not all of the time but generally if you are there around dinnertime you get it automatically and pretty much any burger or sandwich or large meal will be preceded by the slaw/pickles/pickeled tomato tray
Sometimes beets, sometimes sauerkraut.....

One piece of advice don't fall asleep. The Vixter And I both dozed off and ended up toothless
-
I told the Vixter if we won a lot of money we would go to Florida and I would get a proper Long Island diner set up on 4 or 192...
Open 24 hours a day and an extensive menu. Of course I wouldn't work there I would just rake in the profits

I think about that kind of thing sometimes, and I can't imagine why it wouldn't succeed.

Jack , the opening and closing changes were a slight wardrobe change it wasmoreperple ing than message conveying and I agree it should be cut

Lady should have been a miserable day but I had yesterday playing on my internal videoanditkept me happy
-
What a great day
-
I even parallel parked the van on a Manhattan street without crashing into anything
-
Hey Tommy come out and play with Cillaliz and me!
-
I have decided that I am going to be on vacation from Wednesday through Sunday. I'm not leaving town, but I really just need a break from work. So I'll be making my feast, cleaning up the house, going to movies, going out for coffee and just relaxing. All the files from the office will be returned to the office tomorrow. I'm looking forward to the break
-
And there is still mixed precip predicted for Thursday, so I'm very happy I'm not going to try to get to my parents' house. They are totally fine with that
-
I often forget my cell phone at home, especially on weekends.
-
I've only had to hang up on "researchers" and "Pollsters" 6 times tonight. Not bad

Ennio Morricone is one of the most unusual and prolific composers.
My favorite of his scores
The Good The Bad & The Ugly
Once Upon a Time In The West
Duck You Sucker (Which played three years in a small by my house and showed the uncut International version and not the Fistful of Dynamite re-edit)
-
T.O.D.
SACCO & VANZETTI

And, of course, they are referring to converting a word document to a PDF format.

And then the Love Theme From Orca.
The Love theme was't written about the humans.
One of the worse lyrics from an usually dependable lyricist and whom I thought sang it horribly.
I will bring the sun through darkened clouds
And I will live with you rainbows for your eyes
Rainbows for your eyes
Now, my love, we are one
We are one
We are one, cried my love
Let me lead you where the moonlit waters fall
Shadows softly call
My love, we are one
We are one
We are one, cried my love
Let me lead you where the stillness of the night
Delivered dawn's first light
My love, we are one
We are one
We are one
We are one

I have come to play, TCB.
-
I have often wondered if a real Jewish deli would work in Tacoma.
-
Watching a WWII musical called Starlift with Doris Day, Gordon MacRae and others playing themselves. It's all about entertaining the troops. It's not bad, except when they show an actor supposedly playing to the troops and you can see that the troops are in another shot posted onto the background. Cheesy.
-
I have come to play, TCB.
Thanks, John. Vixmom asks me to come out and play, and then she leaves.
-
TOD:
Salo. This may be the most disgusting movie I have ever seen, and the finale is outrageous in the extreme, but the music just matches it perfectly.

Passolini movie. It got banned in Cincinnati in the 1980s. Scene of a big censorship battle. I remember Alec Baldwin getting involved somehow. Of course, the court ruling was that it was not pornography. But it is hard to sit through.
-
I should run the script one more time tonight, but I am just too tired
-
Do you like the play, TCB? Some of Neil LaBute can be really rough and ugly.
-
I was surprised that I had a lot of work to do today, even with a blackout in effect for the week. And I have even more work tomorrow.
-

I really do like the script. There are a few parts that are difficult to do; and the ending is kind of shocking.

Yup.
But I was kind of hoping to have a few hours to clean some part of this house. Guess that ain't going to happen.
-
I'd love to see you perform in it. I do like the way LaBute can shock an audience.

-
We don't even have any guests.
-
Think we can push this puppy to page six?
Oh heck yes.
-
Got to go to the grocery in the morning to get stuff for Thursday.
-
Got to make a cranberry delight pie.
-
I'd love to see you perform in it. I do like the way LaBute can shock an audience.
I wish we could record it, but I have been told that isn't going to happen.

And a cauliflower and olive dish.

Six!

Does size matter? ;)

SIX!

Not at my age.
-
OK, so this movie has somehow devolved into a strange barroom musical number with Phil Harris and Gary Cooper.
-
I need to head off to bed.
Good night, TCB and all.
-
Back from a really fun workshop and then House of Pies.
-
Good night, John. Nice talking to you, as always.

I actually am going to come in late to work tomorrow, because I have a scheduled dentist appointment in the morning. I hope that my having a cold won't affect my dental appointment. We'll see.
Until later!
One piece of advice don't fall asleep. The Vixter And I both dozed off and ended up toothless
Fortunately, it's difficult for me to fall asleep with some woman's hands rooting around in my mouth. ::)

My sister called me yesterday, asking if I wanted to go with her and her daughter to visit our cousin and his wife in Oregon. I said yes! We leave Friday and will come back Monday. I was able to get Monday off and it's the only day that I need to take vacation.

Page six? Really?

Two notices from UPS for packages tomorrow - more screeners, one of which is Bridge of Spies - really excited to see it. Don't know what the other is. I've signed off online so that they can leave the packages.

TCB, is it truly unusual to put slaw and pickles out on the table in a restaurant in Washington? It is a usuAl thing in diners and delis .... What about the rest of the country? Tell e DRs all, is this truly only a NY tradition ?
I've never experienced this in any restaurant that I've ever been to. Maybe that's just a reflection on the "quality" (or lack thereof) of the restaurants that I've been to. ::)
You need to experience a proper Jewish deli.
Seriously! People! Get with the program! Get your bloomin' arses to a Jewish Deli! NOW!!
:)
Don't include me in this group. I have been to proper Jewish delis.
Then why didn't you have a plate of, at least, pickles put on your table ;)
I have always had, at least, a plate or bowl of pickles on my table at the delis in New York. I think only once did I get slaw, also.

The Love Boat (tv show) is nothing like the actual "Love Boat"
