Well, you've read the notes, the notes suffered from Post Thanksgiving Syndrome, and now it is time for you to post until the Post Thanksgiving Syndrome cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BIBULOUS!
-
And a happy haineshisway.com birthday to divarobbie.
-
DR TCB I think our plan is too just go for the night. It really isn't far away and it is winter.
-
Happy birthday divarobbie!
-
'night.
-
First after Jane after BK
-
I fell asleep with the iPad on my lap and just woke up on the recliner with s blanket thrown over me
-
We ended up having a nice time yesterday, I did all the food prep work at my house and put everything in my corningware then everything went in the back of the van and off to my folk's house ( they live about Mile from here)
-
Got there about 1:30 plopped the turkey in the oven and everything else was all depot and organized to put in the oven to warm when the turkey was ready
-
My dad was just going in for a nap when we got there so once he was asleep His aide joined us and we played a couple of games.
-
Then we chatted and by 5 the turkey was ready and while it rested I heated up all the side dishes and baked the rolls. dad woke up and joined us at the table
-
He was smiling and laughed at a couple if the jokes
-
Just as we were finidpshing my brother and SIL stopped in. ( they were with her family for Thanksgivibpng). And we all had dessert together
-
At the end of the night my Dad even spoke a few words.
-
Alzheimer's is a dreadful disease
-
But a nice day was had by all
-
When we got home as I was putting away our share of the leftovers Vuxdad turned on the tv and I heard Katherine Hepburn say something that immediateltpy made me call out Desk Set!
-
So we sat and watched the rest of Desk Set , that was followed by Woman if the Year but I fell asleep and never got past the wedding night scene
-
Well I should try and get back to sleep. I have lots of things I want to get done today and none of it will happen if I spend the day napping
-
Well I am up again I have washed the pots that were left soaking overnight, emptied and refilled the dishwasher, and am enjoying coffee
-
Where are the rest of you slugabeds?.
-
When I was up at 3:30 I briefly considered going Christmas shopping since the Kohls about a mile from here opened a 6 pm yesterday and is open continuously until midnight tonight
-
But then I thought that would simply be encouraging them to continue their reprehensible behavior towards their employees
-
if I go on like this we will be at page 2 before anyone else wakes up
-
That would be one for the books
-
Speaking of books, I just finished reading one called "People of the Book" by Geraldine Brooks.
-
I had never heard of this title or author but the blurbs said it was a New York Times best seller an rod that the author had won the Pulitzer Prize for her book "March" (of which I was also ignorant)
-
The rice was right... Ten cents at the used book sale at the library so I picked it up
-
It was actually several short stories intertwined with the main novel
-
It is about a rare book expert who is restoring a Haggadah and she finds various thinkgs caught in the bindings and stains As she explores the origin of each we read the true story of how that item or stain came to be there
-
Page two
-
I quite enjoy and highly recommend it
-
DR vixmom - I admire all that you do, but worry about your doing it on only about 3 hours of sleep. Apparently.
-
And you heard it here first, folks: the rice is right.
-
;D
-
I kid in love.
-
Best HHW wishes to former DR divarobbie on his BIRTHDAY!!!!!!
-
And you heard it here first, folks: the rice is right.
I had to go back and reread my posts to figure out what you were talking about!
-
And they are all a mess!
-
I did get quite a bit of sleep today. Fell asleep at whatever time I stopped posting last night around 11 I guess woke up at 3:30. By,r got back to sleep aound 4 for another reason hours
-
Vixdad just headed out for work so I guess I dpshoykd get started getting things done here
-
Ok I have no idea how "should" ended up being spelled "dpshoykd"
-
I think I will watch The Rice Is Right today, it used to be one of my favorites when I was small.
-
Travel vibes for DR GEORGE et al.
-
Yesterday.....I taught my mother how to use her Android Tablet! I am hoping now that she will graduate to her computer....which is now being used as a $700 thermometer.
She checks the temperature every morning, and then she never touches it the rest of the day.
-
Good morning, all.
Coffee! And nothing else for a while, please. :)
-
I thought that an actual rice dish might be good. But then realized it was a book where the "rice was right". That is my new favorite saying. ;)
-
Now I want turkey.
-
Good morning, all! Thanks to a multitude of drugs I was unconscious for quite some time. I had an endless dream about this "Dreidl Song" I'm arranging for my publisher, as I worked out the bridges and modulations. I remember bits of two other dreams that now are too vague to reconstruct.
-
I did have a hard time sleeping. the temperatures were so high yesterday that my body was unhappy sleeping under bedding aimed for a room at around 30F degrees.
-
Today, I will meet DR Matthew at 10:30 at a restaurant three blocks from my apartment. I will have a short distance to walk and I appreciate his coming up tyo my part of the City.
-
After we meet, he is off to see the town and I believe I will return and do some sketches for the Dreidl number.
-
TOD:
No idea what we will watch this weekend; probably something from my library of 4000+ titles on DVD/Blu-ray.
We did rent RICKI AND THE FLASH with Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline the other night. Thought the first 2/3 were terrific, but the film needed a 3rd act, which wasn't there.
-
Happy birthday to divarobbie!
Finally got to meet him not all that long ago at an excellent show he directed, as it turned out we were sitting about three seats away from him.
-
Is it really Friday? Seems more like Saturday-- or Monday.
-
Definitely feels like Saturday.
-
No Black Friday shopping for me. I think I've only gone out looking for anything on a Black Friday once or twice over the years, and only one of those times did I actually buy something that, at the time, was planned and worth buying. It was my first Blu-ray player, a small Sony at Costco, in 2008. Fortunately, that player, though expensive compared to equivalent ones now, and lacking many features common nowadays, is still performing like a champ.
I've taken advantage of a couple of small things online this week, but I've got to stop. I've been spreading it around like the Russians were in Jersey.
And BTW, I do agree with DR vixmom's sentiment about not encouraging the stores. At least a few of them got the message and cut out the Thanksgiving Day bull nonsense this year.
EDIT: Also, I just don't like the kinds of crowds that events like Black Friday encourage.
And the traffic!! Oh good lord, the traffic.
-
Also, I'm using this last beautiful warm weather day on outdoors work that still needs to be done.
After, perhaps, some toast and another cup of coffee.....
-
TOD
Listening: I dunno, probably some seasonal stuff to get in the mood with. But I first need to hear the lovely Robert Ward CD that's been sitting here for a week or longer, and this lovely Subways Are for Sleeping CD. I've already enjoyed the lovely Ravel CD before those arrived, and I think that's right where my listening cut off this past week as things got busy.
Watching: Again, probably something seasonal. The housemates and I are going up to a tree farm tomorrow to cut a tree for the first time in several years. We like to usher the season in with CDs whilst decorating, usually followed with something light like the Rankin/Bass TV specials of olde.
-
Signs that Vixmom needs to watch her phraseology when iPading in the middle of the night:
Vuxdad
finidpshing
Thanksgivibpng
immediateltpy
dpshoykd
:D :D :D
-
Good morning.
-
Thanksgivibpng is my favorite holiday.
-
Alzheimer's is a dreadful disease
Yes it is. I'm glad your father was ok for Thanksgiving.
-
Speaking of books, I just finished reading one called "People of the Book" by Geraldine Brooks.
Wonderful book.

Thanksgivibpng is my favorite holiday.
And you get to celebrate it again today. Have a good time.
-
Good morning, all.
Happy birthday, divarobbie!
-
Been shopping online. My morning appointment got canceled and I'm happy. Feeling very lazy.
-
It's raining hard but steady out there and it's supposed to continue into the night. Ugh.
I'm supposed to be going to the river boat and tree lighting parade. It's held rain or shine. I guess it'll be a wet one.
-
Vixmom, I can always watch Desk Set. Wonderful acting and writing. Love Katharine Hepburn playing the bongos.
-
OK, TCB, you're nervous Wrecks, but are you also Oedipus Wrecks?
-
Another vote for DESK SET.....with Katharine and Joan Blondell doing the John Smithee chair pulling when they get drunk....
I started to watch STATE OF THE UNION which was quite interesting, and I noticed that Hepburn's name was spelled "KathErine" in the credits. Strange....but it may have been some kind of reprint or rerelease credits, they looked strange.....I wondered why we got the MGM Lion roar over a black screen before the credits began.
OH this is why:
Katharine Hepburn's , Adolphe Menjou's and George J. Folsey's names are misspelled in the opening credits because the distribution rights were originally owned by MGM, but only for seven years. The rights were then sold to another company, which had to create its own opening credits.
-
And I am home from a very delightful breakfast with our DR Matthew, who returns to the Bay area tomorrow morning. What a delightful man! We dished, we laughed, we talked about the things he's seen this visit, and as we departed, Matthew took a selfie of us which he will post upon his return.
And now I must dig through my p[iles of music paper for something nice to use on this choral arrangement.
-
A photo-oh good :)
-
I'm up, I'm up - woke up at ten after eight hours of sleep, but stayed in bed until now, dozing on and off.
-
Yes we like photo graphic evidence.
-
I have one load of laundry washed, dried and folded
One load in the dryer and one load in the washer
-
I did go to the store, but not until around 9:30 so the store would normally have been open anyway. I now have all the presents for Canada so they can be wrapped and shipped tomorrow
-
I was home by 12 and started a turkey soup . I still had half a I turkey left so that has been sliced and will serve as dinner tonight and turkey sandwiches for the weekend
-
Elmore I am glad that you were able to meet with Mathew
-
And now I have another batch of mushrooms cooking on the stove
-
I finished the rebuild of my Allison bio.....and great thanks to MR BK [included at the end of the page].
I will probably re-do the photo captions which came out so small....but otherwise, I am pleased with the result.

Good afternoon. I did some church computer work, and then I walked up to the bank to pay my credit card bill. The bill did not include our recent trip to Disneyland. That will get paid from my next church quarterly paycheck next month.
If they go by the employment contract they presented to me (not yet signed), I wonder if I will make a whole lot more money. They had no idea how many hours I worked unpaid. They will find out when I present my hours on Sunday. Of course, they may decide most of it was volunteer time.
-
I will be interested in hearing the outcome DR LAURA.
Did you go see the turkey?
-

IF it's volunteer time, then you can decide not to do it in the future they can't insist you work without pay.
-
I had a very upsetting night full of nightmares. In one I was the person threatening violence, in another I was running from terrorists shooting and woke up with my heart pounding. It took me a little while to calm down and get back to sleep, then I woke up with a start thinking about something I need to do at work. I've decided to take this as a sign I'm still very stressed and need more time before going back to work
-
I know. It is a small church. Everyone volunteers. I volunteer.
-
I did see the turkey. It was very big.
-
I hope you have a much better night tonight, Cillaliz. Nightmares are terrible.
-
The big question for the day is where the fat hell is today's postal delivery? Our post office is an embarrassment.

DR CILLA LIZ the full moon can make for crazy dreams for a few days.
-
I hope you have a much better night tonight, Cillaliz. Nightmares are terrible.
Thanks Laura. I've been pretty stressed lately, it usually takes me having nightmares before I take a real break
-
DR CILLA LIZ the full moon can make for crazy dreams for a few days.
Thanks JRand. They are crazy dreams. The kind I normally call stress dreams
-
I know. It is a small church. Everyone volunteers. I volunteer.
Oh I get that, but they need to know when you are volunteering it's because you want to volunteer and that if you have some reason to not do it, then you won't be there and that should have no impact on your employment. I know you'll be volunteering just as much. I would suggest making sure your actual duties, that you are paid for are very explicit so that anyone would know which hours are volunteer and which are paid hours
-
But I wouldn't worry about that when there is turkey to eat

Are you still deciding if you should sign it or not? I thought you might have had a deadline on that.

Laura, would you be be able to refuse to volunteer?

Good evening!

The big question for the day is where the fat hell is today's postal delivery? Our post office is an embarrassment.
Would you believe mine was just delivered?
-
Had a breakfast burrito for my meal o' the day. I have some fruit and cheese for later. Then did some stuff, then worked at the piano, and am now continuing with Mr. Robot - four more episodes to go, so I think they're going to do the reveal that I've been waiting for. It goes off on tangents, into cliche territory, and even though I didn't love the pilot, it at least was weird and focused in a way the episodes are not - I suspect that the writer/creator had the concept and a few episodes in mind and maybe an end game, but I think they also make it up as they go along. And I don't know when this became a "thing" but showing women sitting on a toilet going to the bathroom while a male comes in to have a conversation is just, well, desperate and really idiotic. Stop it. And then when the woman peeing also opens her legs to the guy as if somehow that's a turn-on, you know the writer/creator basically has his head up his rectal cavity.
-
I had no memory of Black Friday being let's send the most spam we can day. It is RELENTLESS.
-
Does anybody here watch the show Unforgettable? DR JANE???
I had no idea until today but the 2 hour premiere is on tonight. It is now on A&E. I love this show.
-
Yes today the SPAM has been relentless.....
-
There are two deer laying down under my big pine tree in the front yard. I love that they feel safe enough to stay there

ALaura, would be be able to refuse to volunteer?
Just making the point that if they aren't going to pay her, she should be able to decide whether or not she wants to volunteer
-

I did not know it was still on.

I meant would Laura personally be able to refuse to volunteer? Some people have trouble saying no.
-
I just cleaned up my posts I made while using the keyboard on my computer while I used it in the kitchen. It was in an awkward position and I had trouble typing, especial when the keyboard on the screen covered what I was typing and I couldn't see what I was doing.
-
I just put away the cooled almond macaroons I baked. I had one and it was good.
-
I doubt I will be around much tomorrow as we have company from Ashland arriving, the reason for the cookies.
-
The river parade got rained out. The rains were so heavy that the barges were too high under the bridges. It was a mess.
-
We got to see 11 barges go by. Most were unremarkable.
-
And I was soaked to the bone.
-
My feet are still cold, though they are dry at last.
-
I'm enjoying a hot toddy right now and trying to decide on a movie to watch.
-
I had to buy a new DVD player today, so of course, the old one is acting fine now. It wasn't earlier today.
-
But Black Friday was a good day to find a deal. This one was half off at Costco today.
-
Let's move on.
-
Five!
-
Hello, 2 guests!
-
Two Thanksgiving Dinners in two days is too much. Oof.
-
Good evening.
-
I had no memory of Black Friday being let's send the most spam we can day. It is RELENTLESS.
Boy, you can say that again.
-
I just spilled a huge glass of cranberry juice and Sierra Mist all over my bedroom carpet and the base of my four-wheel scooter. I am thrilled.
-
I wonder if these are the same two guests that John said hello to earlier?
-
Oh well!
Hello, 2 Guests!
-
Tomorrow is going to be a very stressful day.
-
I have to be at the restaurant tomorrow at ten o'clock.
-
A.M., not P.M.
-
Are you allowed to put a comma after a period?
-
I have to be at rehearsal at noon.
-
I hope George had a safe trip to Oregon today.
-
Who else is missing this evening?
-
Vixmom is missing, but she was busy filling the first couple pages of today's posts. I think she deserves the evening off.
-
It didn't feel like Friday today. Maybe more like a Saturday.
-
Jane did you get a message from Sharry?
-
I am not sure I am feeling very well tonight.
-
My posts are so boring, both Guests have left the building.
-
Lucky #140!
-
I suppose I could do lucky 141 to 150, but that would be cheating.
-
Not that anyone else would notice.
-
At ten o'clock it was already down to 24 degrees. Brrr.
-
I have had no heat in the living room / dining room area for two days now.
-
At first they thought it was the thermostat, but now they think it is the baseboards that have gone bad. Swell.
-
I have the electric fireplace in the living room, which makes it bearable, but my fingers got to numb to type.
-
Now it will be Monday before they will fix the heat.
-
I won't leave the fireplace on when I am in the other room sleeping.
-
Just one more post.
-
Six!!
-
The river parade got rained out. The rains were so heavy that the barges were too high under the bridges. It was a mess.
What a shame.
-
I'm enjoying a hot toddy right now and trying to decide on a movie to watch.
Good idea.
-
I just spilled a huge glass of cranberry juice and Sierra Mist all over my bedroom carpet and the base of my four-wheel scooter. I am thrilled.
Bummer. Where you able to clean it up?
-
Jane did you get a message from Sharry?
Not yet.
-
VIBES for DR TCB!
-
Well, I'm in Coquille, Oregon with working (and secure) wi-fi!
-
Hi, Jane!
-
The drive from Tumwater was quite uneventful, which is good!
-
We only had a couple of slow-downs, and neither lasted very long.
-
We got here around 4:45 and only stopped I think three times...bathroom, lunch and bathroom, and then gas and bathroom. :)
-
After we got here, we ate some leftover Thanksgiving food that we brought with us, and then played Phase 10. Again, I lost. Oh, well.
-
Now, I'm upstairs in my cousin's office on a hide-a-bed matress that's directly on the floor. I finally realized last year that it is so much better than trying to sleep on the actual bed.
-
And now, I'm going back to the first page and ketchup on all of today's posts.
-
A Very Happy Birthday to divarobbie!!
-
Travel vibes for DR GEORGE et al.
Thanks, Jrand! The vibes worked!
-

-
Tomorrow in the early evening, we're going to a neighborhood park about a half hour away that is supposed to have a great light display. I don't know how extensive the display is, but it was enough to get a mention in the local paper. That's how my cousin found out about it and had the idea to take us to it. It sounds like a great idea.
-

She said she wrote you a note on Thanksgiving night, after all the company left.

Have you ever gone to Shore Acres? The lights in the gardens are beautiful at this time of year.

That's too bad.

Not yet.

Let me double check.
-
George, have you ever been to Zoo Lights n Tacoma?

I've never heard of Shore Acres. Do you know if it's near Coquille? Do you think that that might be where we're going tomorrow?
-
George, have you ever been to Zoo Lights n Tacoma?
I have, but only once many years ago.
-
I just spilled a huge glass of cranberry juice and Sierra Mist all over my bedroom carpet and the base of my four-wheel scooter. I am thrilled.
Noooo! I once spilled a can of diet Pepsi on the carpet right in front of my nightstand in my bedroom. I hate it when that happens. :P
-
I hope George had a safe trip to Oregon today.
I did! Thanks!
-
Me too.
Seven!
-
7EVEN!!
-
I suppose I could do lucky 141 to 150, but that would be cheating.
It wouldn't be the first time something like that happened. ::)
;)

Tom I found the message but only because I searched for it. Thanks for telling me about it.
-
Tom I found the message but only because I searched for it. Thanks for telling me about it.
I just wanted to be sure that you saw it. You hadn't mentioned it, so I was worried.
-
Now it will be Monday before they will fix the heat.
~~~Vibes of Heat for TCB!!~~~
~~~Vibes of Heat for TCB!!~~~
Thanks, George!
-
Finished with my large amount of viewing. She of the Evil Eye comes tomorrow (seems like she was JUST here), so I have to be up early.
-
I don't know if she meant an e-mail message or a Facebook message.
I looked on FB, email, and back to FB before finding it. I just opened my messages and only see my response to her, not her original message. I found it by opening her page and clucking on "message' there.
-
Facebook is getting weirder every day.
-
Well, I suppose I should sign off for the night. Long day tomorrow.
-
G'night!
-
Well, I need to go to sleep now.
Have a good day tomorrow, everyone!
