Well, you've read the notes, the notes were the best of notes, the notes were the worst of notes, and now it is time for you to post until the best and worst cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CHATOYANT!
-
First post after BK!
-
The Kritzerland show is next weekend? I thought it was the end of the month?
-
No, it's the 17th. We were originally doing it in February and taking January off, but the Feb dates were horrible with the Super Bowl and Oscars preventing us doing Feb. So now Feb is off.
-
A happy BK is a good thing.
-
Or thin, as Desi might say.
-
~ ~ ~ a large dose of excellent vibes and xylophones for miracles and smooth going ~ ~ ~ for bk!!!!!!

The networks just posted this photo of downtown LA, as of a few hours ago:

DR TCB - I'll buy A ticket, but I'm not joining you. Sitting outside in sub-zero weather for the length of a football game? Not my cup of tea! :)
-
ps - everyone at choir rehearsal was adamantly sure that your team is going to come out way ahead.
-
good morning to all
-
tod
musical: sweeney todd
play: the rsc production of nicholas nickleby (the 2 part 8hr)
-
Good morning, all!
I slept quite well last night, I am very happy to report. My last dream was something peculiar about some sort of children's theatre camp ad a meeting about rights for a production.
-
I'm back to City Center this morning. We have now finished 10 numbers. I have a ballet to work on today.
-
My friend Dominic McHugh is in from London, and I'm hoping he will stop by City Center today and say howdy.
-
My car is heating up and I am having a cup of coffee instead of tea and honey.
-
II think I have finally turned the corner the coughing is greatly reduced and is ( I hope) p on its way out
-
Since I am going to the theatre on Sunday I am quite glad as I am sure my fellow theatre goers will be
-
That is good news, DR vixmom. Just in time for your vacation!

-
I don't know what a "paint and dip" night is, but I think I wanna be there! :)
-
And I am off!!
You certainly are.
-
But then, aren't we all?
-
Two musicals, DR vixmom?
-
Off to market.
-
What a long week this has been already, and there are more days left in it. Way too many days left in it. :P
-
Good morning, all.
-
The dream o' the night concerned a theater situation of some kind, and sandwiches. Many sandwiches.
-
Today, a little shopping to ketchup on a few things I'm low on or out of, and sitting down to work on some music.
I also have to relearn how to connect and use my Zoom audio recorder to make good digital copies of a few LPs for someone. The shameful part is having to relearn how to do anything at all on it. It's a wonderful device and I should be using it constantly.
-
Boy, we still need vibes all around, don't we!
-
MIRACLE and SMOOTH SAILING VIBES for BK!

TOD - thinking of Broadway shows:
Plays: Fifth of July, The Shadow Box, Chapter Two
Musicals: Peter Pan, Follies, and on first watching: Hamilton
-
TOD:
Stage:
A Little Night Music
Movies:
Mary Poppins
At Long Last Love (more the soundtrack, because it introduced me to Cole Porter)
Play:
As You Like It -- I read it in the seventh grade and heard they were staging it free at Louisville's Shakespeare in the Park that summer. It led to a lifelong love of all things Shakespeare.
-
Of lesser-known musicals, and these happen to be by people we know, Doug Cohen's The Gig and Amanda Green's (and her collaborators') Hands on a Hardbody not only entertained but gave me so much of value to think about at respective times when I needed it.
-
BK's comments on film to DVD transfer is something I don't know that I always notice or understand with his eye, but I did notice it last night with "The Marquise of O." The film had been "restored" in 2015 and it certainly looked sharp, clean and pristine. But among the extras, there was the original preview, which was dark and moody and, well, blue -- certainly filtered with more blue than the movie I had just watched. That blue version, while not as dark as the preview, was how I remembered the movie in the theater, more theatrical and more evocative. I don't know if I would have made that connection without BK having mentioned it.

I interviewed Doug Cohen years ago when Cohoes Music Hall was staging his No Way to Treat a Lady.

My life was changed for good. (Wicked reference!)

I have a rehearsal at my apartment this eve to begin rehearsing solos for Jerry's Girls
I saw one of the first out-of-town tryouts for that with Carol Channing, Leslie Uggams and Andrea McArdle in the cast. Fun show, if the cast is into it. I saw a community production where the girl didn't seem to have a clue who Nelson was or that she was supposed to be Jeanette.

I'm up, I'm up - over eight hours of sleep thanks to blessed silence this morning, AND the sun is out.

How I wish the show was the same as that tour - which the recording represents - but it changed for Broadway and it's not as good. We'll do our best with the material and for goodness sake, will know the back story of each song and any names that are mentioned!!!
-
Home Sweet Home, except the Iguassu airport decided to keep our luggage even though we checked it 2 hours prior to our flight.
Strong vibes it arrives intact with our belongings would be greatly appreciated.
-
We need to buy veggies and tofu, plus a few other essentials.
-
Jane, tofu is never an essential. Ever.
But I am sending luggage vibes.

JERRY'S GIRLS on Broadway was one of the worst things I ever had to endure as an audience member. It was a glorified bad cabaret act.

And I am home from City Center.
-
Futzed and finessed and then dove in and wrote four new pages. This chapter will be long but really fun, I think.

I agree. I've seen footage of the show and was not impressed with what could have been a great show with all that great music. Hopefully ours will be more of a dedication to Jerry's work, which is what it should be

Thursday afternoon greetings! I have been out and about all day getting ready to go to Boston tomorrow. Had my hair cut this morning, then shopped a bit for Mom and visited with her for a while. Did some grocery shopping so Richard doesn't starve while I'm gone, but I bought neither veggies nor tofu.

Welcome home, DR Jane and Keith!

Vibes of all kinds for DR Ron Pulliam!
And thank you to DR Elmore for conveying his news to us...

In a week of a lot of bad news, this was enjoyable, especially given how much I admire and love HAMILTON: Someone had quoted a HAMILTON parody of mine to Lin Manuel Miranda, and I just saw that Mr. Miranda had tweeted

Good afternoon. We have had four glorious days of rain.
Is that some kind of record?
-
Back from a chili, cheese, and onion omelet and a bagel, and picking up one package that contained Welcome to My World scripts. So we'll probably ship those out on Monday morning.
-
Not in an El Nino year!
-
Seven pages so far and just finished a really short chapter, which is just a set-up for the longer chapter that I'm about to begin. It's the first time in this book we'll be somewhere other than a restaurant - the only time it will happen in this book. The rest all takes place in various restaurants.

Kay Cole's schedule is too busy for her to do the LA show so she's dropped out. But I'm rather thrilled to say that to replace her I got Adam Cates, the choreographer of The Brain in NY and the associate choreographer of the Tony-winning Gentleman's Guide to Murder. Very exciting.

I don't know what a "paint and dip" night is, but I think I wanna be there! :)
It is actually a paint and sip night. You go to a bar with a bunch of your friends and you all paint a painting

My first night home and I had a clear beautiful night and an lovely sunset for my evening walk. Between the red sunset and the lights reflecting on the water I feel energized.

Luggage come home vibes for Jane and Keith
DR Vixmom, thanks. Be well before your vacation vibes!
-
I've gotten two songs from songwriter Michelle Brourman - she's terrific. These were things she had, but both are LA songs and appropriate. But I told her I really wanted to have something specifically written for this - I may well use these two, but I'm hoping she comes up with another one just for us.
-
Topic of the Day:
Brigadoon: in college, it was the very first musical that I acted in, and as mean and dictatorial the director was, I loved every minute of it
Man of La Mancha: the very first show that I performed in here in Olympia, my hometown, after graduating college; the second time I performed in this was the first time I had done two different productions of the same show AND the first time that I played a main character (Sancho Panza)
You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown: the first (and so far only) time that I played a title character
Shows seen in New York:
Swinging On a Star: The Johnny Burke Musical (the very first show I saw on Broadway!)
Victor/Victoria: I saw Julie Andrews live (BEFORE her botched vocal surgery)
:)
-
And on that note (G#), I'm outta here.
Until later.

TOD.
1776 my first Broadway show..... I was hooked
The Mikado ... We put this on at my high school. We had an amazing chorus that year including a 6'4" baritone looking back on it I realized that the chorus Teacher probably arranged the entire production because she had that student. To was the first show I worked on... I was part of th lighting crew Because of this I became part of the theatre crew at college

Fifteen pages. Break time, and since I just finished page 100 I think I can stop there for tonight, unless I'm inspired to mush on later.

Continuing with Eric Rohmer for another evening. Tonight it's The Bakery Girl from Monceau, the first of his Moral Tales. Could be my January fixation.
