Well, you've read the notes, the notes had April Love, and now it is time for you to post until the April cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SANGUINE!

Kritzerland is proud to present the world premiere CD release of:
THE SAILOR WHO FELL FROM GRACE WITH THE SEA
Music Composed and Conducted by Johnny Mandel
Yukio Mishima’s novel, The Sailor Who Fell from Grace With the Sea, was published in 1963 and translated into English in 1965. A decade later, screenwriter Lewis John Carlino (Seconds, The Brotherhood, The Mechanic, among others) adapted the novel for the screen and also made his directing debut. Moving the setting to Dartmouth, Devon, Carlino got the wonderful cameraman Douglas Slocombe to photograph, and cast Sarah Miles and Kris Kristofferson in the leads. The film features wonderful performances, gorgeous photography, and is haunting and disturbing.
Adding immeasurably to the atmosphere (and there is a lot of atmosphere) is the film’s musical score by Johnny Mandel (here billed as John). Mandel’s score is simply wonderful, and his setting of Kristofferson’s tune “Sea Dream” is ravishingly beautiful. From the simple opening cues, to the lush cues underscoring the romantic scenes, Mandel conveys all the moods of the characters and the story perfectly. It’s a short score, but it does exactly what it needs to do in the time it needs to do it.
Mandel was and is a world-class arranger and orchestrator, working with such legends as Tony Bennett, Quincy Jones, and Natalie Cole. His music has been interpreted by many great jazz musicians and several Mandel-penned movie themes became well-known songs – “Emily,” “The Shadow of Your Smile,” “A Time for Love” (Oscar-nominated), and “Close Enough for Love.”
The Sailor Who Fell from Grace With the Sea is limited to 1000 copies only and is priced at $19.98, plus shipping.
CDs will ship by the second week of May, but we’ve actually been averaging three to five weeks early in terms of shipping ahead of the official ship date. To place an order, see the cover, or hear audio samples, just visit www.kritzerland.com.
ATTENTION INDIEGOGO CONTRIBUTORS: FOR THIS RELEASE – IF YOU WANT TO OPT-OUT OF RECEIVING IT YOU WILL NEED TO SEND US AN E-MAIL OPTING OUT PRIOR TO THE DATE IT SHIPS – SEND TO kritzerland@gmail.com. IF YOU WISH TO RECEIVE IT, YOU DON”T NEED TO DO ANYTHING. IF YOU ARE NOT AN INDIEGOGO CONTRIBUTOR, ORDER AS YOU NORMALLY WOULD. THANK YOU.

~~~Excellent Vibes and Xylophones for a Healthy BK!!~~~
How could I forget?? When I got home last night (actually just about an hor ago), I found "Sun Valley Serenade/Orchestra Wives" waiting for me in my mailbox! I was surprised that it was sent to my home instead of my work (my usual shipping address), but as long as I got it at all, it's all good. :D
That's what I'll be listening to at work today.
-
And now, to bed. 8)
-
First in the New York morning!
-
Regarding the new Kritzerland release:
I recall a Johnny Carson joke about the write-in vote for Supporting Actress going to "Grace" in THE SAILOR WHO FELL FROM GRACE
-
One of those days where it's important to be very careful at the office: You never know when someone (even a client) will be playing an April Fools prank.
-
DR George I think you will be reading your book for awile, not because it is somewhat long but because it does not look like a fast read.
-
I find it interesting that the Amazon link to the book had items I have previously searched at the bottom of the page.
-
Johnny Mandel used to be my publicity client.
-
If you're like me, you're probably turned off by what's happening these days in the political arena. So, today, April 1st, I have decided to do something about it.
TOD:
No idea. Maybe I'll go out to a RedBox and rent CREED...or not.
::)
-
Good morning.
-
I'd vote for you, Druxy. You fulfill all my requirements for a candidate.
-
I set an alarm on my calendar so I wouldn't forget to send a prank email to my daughter today. I will let you know how it goes.
-
I look forward to it :)
Last night MR BK brought out the patented bitch slapping machine which we had not seen for a long time......
Sounds like the Kritzerland Show is humming right along!
Because April 3 is on Sunday, Uncle Sam deposited my Social Security Check in my bank today.
Because April 3 is on Sunday, Uncle Sam deposited my Social Security Check in my bank today.
Is that an April Fool joke?
-
It's Friday at least. I knocked my alarm clock off the nightstand, and all the batteries fell out, so it quit buzzing. Hopefully it hasn't quit buzzing forever. We'll see.
-
Good Morning All:
TOD:
CD; Rich Mullins and a ragamuffin band, the JESUS record.
-
Good morning, all! To my embarrassment I slept through the alarm and missed physical therapy.
-
When I woke around 9:00 and realized the situation, I called and rebooked for Monday.
-
Good morning, all.
Elmore, I tried to sleep through my alarm.
-
Last night, I went to the Fur Ball, a fundraiser for the local Animal Defense League. Fun evening.
-
Then Det. Gore from the 82nd Street Precinct called and I've been on the computer since then tracking down the stolen debit card number. The police believe the thieves are not working out of the subways but in a local grocery store.
-
TOD:
DVD: Frenzy, The Abominable Dr. Phibes
CD: Sun Valley Serenade
Car CD: Disc 10 of the Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana.
-
Two!
-
Today I am back to the Moross score, Act Two, fourth edit, and reay to face whatever fresh hell turns up.
-
So, DR Laura, did he?
-
Ron, great choir story yesterday. I wish I could sing. Even the bird looks at me funny.
Friday morning greetings! Downtown Middletown's First Friday theme for tonight is "Book It!" so I'll be helping at AAUW's table. We'll be located in Triple Moon Coffee Company promoting our 60th Annual Used Book Sale, which opens next Thursday. Perfect timing!
Because April 3 is on Sunday, Uncle Sam deposited my Social Security Check in my bank today.
That is such a coinkydink. Last night I coughed up a Fur Ball!
-
This week has, surprisingly, passed rather quickly. I don't know how to explain it. I haven't been overwhelmed with work nor have I been idle and bored.
-
I wonder if DR vixmom is still asleep!
-
Re: coughing up a Fur Ball.....NOT! April Fool!
-
Lame.
I must be losing it.
I've checked in here three or four times already today, and I JUST NOW REALIZED I never posted so much as a good morning!
What the HELL?
-
Good morning, all.
Project Runway All-Stars:
Is anyone watching the current season? I'm so tired of Kini I could spit. That outfit he did last night, despite the judges' comments, looked HIDEOUS. The huge ruffle on the back looked like a dinosaur goiter. His "denim" is so OVER for me.
The one who left....it's about time. Very tired designer with a lot of self-delusions.
Sam....he's young and full of himself, but far more interesting to me than those who continue to put him down.
-
Yes, I am glad the designer left last night - he should have gone home several weeks ago.....I think Kini had better designs when he was on his own season, not sure what's happening with him this time around.
I don't like Sam's personality but some of his clothes are okay.....I don't have anyone that I am FOR right now, maybe it will shake out in the next couple of challenges.
-
The New York magazine revieers for 1776 stated:
At Encores! those strengths are restored, and then some - Sauter's orchestra of 22 players has even been expanded, to 29.
Well, this comes of believing all you read. This is what Steven Suskin writes in his Broadwya orchestration book, and that simply usbn't the case. He even gets the number of players wrong.
I just read that, and thought "award that one another ten points for the perpetration of misinformation".
Friday Quiz:
What Fox musical film has a prominent visual promo for the film and its soundtrack in the early going of “Midnight Cowboy”?
-
DRs Elmo and ChasSmith:
How do you take to Peter Filichia's current column at Kritzerland?
-
I'm here alone. Not even any guests.
"So sad to be all alone in the world!"
-
DRs Elmo and ChasSmith:
How do you take to Peter Filichia's current column at Kritzerland?
Peter's an old friend. I', quite fond of him. I do not always agree with him, but he's one smart cookie.
-
Exquisitely side-stepped. Thanks.
I have my answer.
-
I'm up, I'm up. I announced last night so I wouldn't have to get up at six. I got up at six-thirty. Why? Who knows. I fell back asleep at seven thirty and slept till nine-thirty when the phone rang, then fell back asleep until ten-thirty - seems to be a day off next door. So, I think somewhere in all that that I got eight hours of sleep.
Basement walk today = 18 minutes. Progress.
Damn it to HELL. Finale is offering an April Fool's discount of nearly half the upgrade cost to 2014 ($79 instead of $149). For that, I really should do it. I just wish I weren't bleeding money right and left these days.
Edit: Sale runs through noon Monday. Promo code NOFOOLING.
Friday Quiz:
What Fox musical film has a prominent visual promo for the film and its soundtrack in the early going of “Midnight Cowboy”?
Was it Hello, Dolly!?
-
I find it interesting that the Amazon link to the book had items I have previously searched at the bottom of the page.
That's because you're looking at it on your computer (or tablet) and it gets the information from your browsing history. When I look at the Amazon listing, I see MY previously searched titles. :)
I don't know that I'd agree with every point any of the reviewers has made so far, but Filichia's columns are always interesting to me, even those that sail right over my head because I don't know the subject.
I'd question a couple of things -- courteously -- (I really liked Christiane Noll's Abigail), but definitely appreciate his observations.
Yes, but it is always startling when it does that from another person's link.
Keith dropped me off in town again as my contacts were waiting to be picked up. I forgot to set my fitbit to track the walk home. It was a lovely walk with a short break to by an ice cream cone.
In total today, so far, I have walked 4.82 miles.
-
So, DR Laura, did he?
He did.
Today seems "unseemly".
You read it here first.
Today seems unseemly.
I don't know why.
-
I've been watching "Carol Burnett and Friends" on ME-TV recently.
Musical guests such as Mama Cass and Melba Moore have guest-starrred.
Also, Joel Grey.
I don't know if these half-hour gigs represent the entire show or an edited-down version of an hour-long show.
As for Mama Cass. She and Carol did a non-musical skit together. Ditto with Melba Moore. No singing.
Joel Grey got to "sing" a very silly (and nearly unending) duet with Harvey Korman. They were both dogs in a pet store trying to get adopted.
Very trite and dull. Am wondering why these shows weren't better, given the reputation of the series!
-
Back from a cup of soup and a sandwich. Went to the mail place but mail hasn't arrived yet - new driver who's been getting there later and later - they've called and complained and will continue to do so until the jerk arrives in the morning as he should. Was hoping the pension check was there so I could get it into the bank, which is now doubtful, which means it won't credit to the account until midnight on Tuesday.
-
But this is the last time it will be a check - May starts direct deposit.
-
Well, just arrived from Sweden (I had actually ordered this from the European website, but it's not listed there anymore) is the reissue set of Barbara Dickson's four theatrical recordings, More Brecht Than Broadway (http://www.gonzomultimedia.com/product_details/15885/Barbara_Dickson-More_Brecht_Than_Broadway.html)! (The link is from the US site.) The set includes "John, Paul, George, Ringo... and Bert," "Blood Brothers," "The 7 Ages of Woman," and "Spend Spend Spend." The only recording that I already have is "Blood Brothers." I don't mind an extra copy to be able to get the rest of the set.
What's REALLY cool is that it's "Strictly limited to just 1000 individually numbered copies, the first 500 signed by Barbara!"
I got number 006! :D
-
HOWEVER...the problem is that I think I may have ordered this twice. I got an e-mail saying that it was shipped, but then when I logged into my account on their UK site (from where I ordered it), there was a message saying, "This credit card authorisation failed". I updated my info, but then it showed my original order from last November as "Pre Order" and another order as "Order Placed Successfully"! I sent a couple of e-mails but no one has responded! We'll see if I get another copy...which I don't need. It cost about $86 with shipping!
:-\
-
I hate it when that happens.
I had a similar feeling about some of the "lost" hour-long episodes. Not all of the material was classic. But when it was, it could be side-splitting.
I've only dealt with the music preparation. I'm seeing it tomorrow.
I see 7 guests...and George...are online here right now.
-
White is is quite cool here today, we are warming up over the weekend...into the 70s during the day. By next Wednesday, we're told to expect temps in the 80s. And then....
....temps will drop 10 to 20 degrees for the rest of the week.
-
Where have the people gone?
Seems like there's no one hangin' on.
Look through the window, the houses are empty,
Hey! Everybody's out of town.
Seems like I'm the only one around.
-
I just got back from lunch (I didn't sign out) and am listening to "Sun Valley Serenade." As Tony the Tiger says, "It's great!" :D
I don't know. It's coming all the way from Europe. I don't know if that's an option. Maybe I could sell it on eBay for a bit of a profit! ;)
-
I just did a quick search on eBay and couldn't find any listing. Of course, it's brand new, so who knows if it'll be available from someone else.
-
And now, I'm off to the theater.
Until later.
-
Page four? Really?
I can't do any more contact corrects, my body hurts too much. I still have about 50 left to do. Boy, do we have addresses missing.
I plan on buying that once I can afford it. I've had other expenses lately, but it's a CD I definitely will be adding to the collection.
I am going to 1776 tomorrow night-
-
Oh, I meant to comment on that this morning. I'm so glad you made that happen, DR vixmom!
-
The Abominable Dr. Phibes disc wouldn't play, at least in my old DVD player, which may need to be retired. So, I've started Frenzy. I've forgotten how wonderful this movie is. It's one of my all-time favorite Hitchcock movies.
-
We really do want to get off this damn page.
-
Yes, we do.
-
So, let's move on.
-
Five!
-
Frenzy is a joy.
-
But I can't get the Phibes disc to work on the computer either. Oh well.
-
I should be asleep.
-
Can't even stay up to midnight on a weekend anymore.
-
Color me old.
Cranberries!
Gratuitous post No. 128.
-
Hello, 1 guest.
-
My name is John. What's yours?
-
Let me entertain you and we'll have a real good time.
-
Yes, sir!
-
And that concludes my performance in French. And English.
-
Good night, all.
-
Good night John.
-
I received an email saying my new cell phone shipped. I'm excited about the color, rose gold.
-
We watched episodes 5 & 6 of Bosch tonight. Two more to going and season 2 will be over for us.
-
We watched an episode of Fury. Fury was especially cute, acting more like a dog than a horse :)
-
'night.
-
Good evening
-
Another crowd gathered here.
-
Hello, Jane.
-
Oh, I guess she is heading off to bed.
-
I was watching GRIMM tonight.
-
Gee, I don't even have any guests to harass.
-
Well, I should be able to get us off this page
-
It was another beautiful day in Tacoma.
-
Not quite as warm as yesterday, but nice.
-
One post more.
-
SIX!
-
Page 6 is better than some Friday nights.
-
DR TCB: As a graduate of the TCB School of Charm, I know NO shame! ;)
Ah, as long as you learned from the best!
-
Ron, you seem to be in a particularly good mood lately.
-
Is it because you seem to have your health concerns under control.
-
Or is it because you are nearing retirement?
-
Hi, Tom!
-
I am home, fed, and watching "Grey's Anatomy."
-
I'm changing the topic now so I can go to sleeeeeep.
-
I don't know what, if anything, I will be watching or listening to this weekend.
-
I will probably try to listen to part of SIN CITY CAVALCADE.
