Well, you've read the notes, the notes quoted a very bad line from a very bad movie, and now it is time for you to post until the quotable cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: JACTITATION!
-
Good morning to all
-
And I always worry when I am the first in the morning. Hope all out West Coast posters are okay.
-
Really especially enjoyed BK's thoughts (and even some choice inside info) in the notes today.
-
I'm wondering even more if Seth Rudetsky's show DISASTER! (assuming they have all the rights to the pop songs they used) will turn out to be a big money-maker in the regional market, despite its losing money on Broadway.
-
Good morning, all.
Coffee!
-
At 4:30 or thereabouts I got up to visit the necessary and turn a fan on, as it was a bit stuffy in my room, and finally got back to sleep...whereupon I had one of the most epic of all my epic dreams.
In it, I created a series of parks and movie theaters and other public spaces on the west side of Danbury, kind of where our airport and mall are now. But this was beautiful stuff, a contemporary but lovable collection of spaces and activities that would only exist in a perfect world. Part of it was a reference to a dream from a few years ago (or possibly even something real), but that supposed memory might have just been part and parcel of the current dream.
Other stuff and nonsense went on, such as finding myself having accidentally gotten on a commuter bus going to God knows where, but in this dream, everything kept working out fine. Attempting to actually tell this thing in any detail would take me all day.
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR ChasSmith, I think all of my weird dreams are going to you since I'm remembering none of mine.
-
Last night I watched two Midsomer Murders, including my possible favorite, the Christmas special "Ghosts of Christmas Past." I also really like the two creepy ones that involved a ghost by the side of the road and the ghost in the church. Both left the paranormal activity a real possibility and they were eerie.
-
DR TCB, I met Shannon Bolin once at a screening at the Museum if Broadcasting. I went to college with her nephew John, and i wish now that I had been more aggressive on taking the opportunity to visit her.
-
I've got some work on Guys & Dolls before I head into midtown for the Bright Star closing performance. I'm debating doing laundry this morning. Tomorrow I need to go up to Columbia and look at the Moross files on Gentlemen, Be Seated!
I have to go up a couple of days this week and deal with that and The Golden Apple.
-
I could almost believe that, DR Elmore. I'd offer it up to the Dream-O-Matic 6000, but without supplying the details of conversations and the physical descriptions of everything, the poor thing would have nothing to go on.
-
DR John G, why is it, no matter what Google advice I follow, I cannot keep watercress?
-
More Coffee!
-
My own personal summer allergy sneezing season is in full swing.

Today is set building day for ON GOLDEN POND, last night was the performance of the Youth Theatre Workshop....two versions of JULIUS CAESAR.....
Of course it is going to be 92 degrees today......
-
Good morning Everyone! The latest Broadway Radio Show is now up for your listening pleasure. This time, it's an interview with Michael Colby to chat about the newly released studio cast recording of his show Tales Of Tinseltown, featuring an array of wonderful talent, including Tony Yazbeck, Harriet Harris, Klea Blackhurst, Alison Fraser, and Christina Bianco. Give it a listen!

Two? My least fave Shakespeare play after CORIOLANUS. Once is bad enough!
-
I got to hit the snooze button a whole bunch of times. It was luxurious and satisfying not to have get up and be aware that I didn't have to get up.
-
Good morning. I have a raw throat this morning. I hope it is from talking too much and not the beginning of a cold.
-
Have a good day everyone.
-
I'm looking forward to the CD announcement. I could almost swear we were dropped a pretty good hint somewhere along the way as to its general content, but I haven't taken the trouble to go back and try finding it. :)

Graduating to a Cessna 172, Sept. 23, 1978:
Oh wait. That's Snoopy. Well, I was there, trust me on that.

DR vixmom, stay brave.

Such great photos from DR VIXMOM and DR CHAS SMITH!!!
I shall be on my way.....in 85 feels like 95 degree weather.....to work on the set.
-
<--------------------------- I will just leave this here.
-
Yay!!!
-
DR John G, why is it, no matter what Google advice I follow, I cannot keep watercress?
It's fragile. Eat it first. It's also tremendously good for you. Several studies have said it's the healthiest food on the planet.

BTW, I don't know how DR George captures those, but this works for me:
Ctrl-Prt Scr, which throws the whole screen into the Windows clipboard. Paste into MS Paint. Crop. Save.
-
I'm not used to Amazon delivering on Sunday.
Came home from church to find Lucky Stiff and Barbara Cook sings Songs of Perfect Propriety.
-
Off to dance.
-
Good morning.
-
I'd thought about seeing Goodspeed's Roar of the Greasepaint which closes today, and I waited till this morning to decide. The updating/restructuring sounds very interesting, but I find myself not so much in the mood for absorbing that today. So, that's that. For now.

Well, I think I said something about my parents' neighbor having a stroke. She passed away this morning. They've been living across the street from my parents since 1959. Marian was an elementary music teacher and a piano teacher. When I was about 5 I called her and asked her if she would teach me to play the piano. I hadn't asked my mom first, but when I did, she said yes. So that's how I learned to play. There were a couple times at Christmas when their family came to our house. Her daughter played the piano and we had enough to have two people sing each part of the Messiah. We didn't do all of it, but it was a lot of fun. Far from perfect, but it seemed ok. I have so many good memories about her. She will be missed.
-
Cilla - Condolences from us to all of Marian's friends and family.
-
Yay!!!
Congrats at your 65,000 milestone, Jrand!!!
-
TERROR AT 20,000 POSTS - possible title for anything?
-
At noon I'll be eating a Sausage McMuffin. Does that count?
Did I miss the report on this?
-
DR Jrand65 achieves 65,000.
Coincidence?
-
Wow. Lots happening this weekend, and a variety of different things being discussed -- and I've got one more question to throw out for anyone who feels they can zero in on a definitive answer. It's about the live streaming of She Loves Me on Thursday evening:
https://www.broadwayhd.com/index.php/deliverable/r/she_loves_me_live
As you can see from the myriad comments and questions, the confusion out there is rampant, re how to go about getting the streaming, what it can be streamed ON (besides the Roku and Apple TV they mention), paying for it, and you name it. For example, if one is NOT a subscriber to BroadwayHD, what exactly are one's options? It would seem you pay the $9.99, then on Thursday you tune in and get it. No one believes it's quite that simple. Who here feels they have a handle on it?

All the photos are lovely
-
And as if we needed even more news to digest...
It's SHARK WEEK.
-
It's about time to head down to the theatre district. I just checked the route for today's Gay Pride march to be sure it wouldn't conflict with any bus routes into midtown.
-
Thanks FJL.

Nice Photos, Vixmom.

Well, I hate to do it, but I must be off. Today is the only matinee and the final performance of TAO's production of "The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged)." We will also have strike and some kind of cast party festivity of some kind. I also just got a text from our stage manager, asking if I could open the theater because she's running a little late. Since I have a key, I can do that, so I have to go now!
Have a good day, all!
-
Thanks George.
-
I'm up, I'm up - I fell asleep around three, woke up at five and fell back asleep around seven, so I believe that's eight hours.
-
I'm at the theater and no one else is here, yet.

I saw the first 3 AIRPORT movies; never saw the 4th one.
I only saw the 3rd one because Christopher Lee was my publicity client at the time.
I really like #1.
-
We have 16 people for our last show.
-
They're pretty excited already!
-
I think it's a sure bet that it's going to be a good show. :D

Sunday evening greetings! Yesterday was quite a day here in Orlando. I had a full day scheduled at the conference, so after breakfast Richard and I made a meet-up plan and I headed to my first meeting. Just as it was ending, he called to tell me that the nurse practitioner at Walgreen's had referred him to the ER at a downtown hospital for the double vision he was experiencing. Met him at the hotel and we taxied to the ER that was making headlines 2 weeks ago. They ruled out the bad stuff, like a stroke or tumor, but we had to wait a long time for the MRI. Fifteen hours later (3am today) he was released with orders to see an ophthalmologist and neurologist at home.

~~~Get Better Vibes for Richard!!~~~
-
So, having been up until about 4am, I was in no shape to get to the convention center for the morning things I had scheduled. We went to brunch and I picked up my schedule about halfway through my 1pm meeting. Richard spent a couple of hours in the exhibit hall and I found him napping when I got back here about half an hour ago. We think we'll order pizza and stay in this evening.
-
Thank you, DR George! He's more annoyed than anything.
-
Vibes & hugs for the Vixfam!
-
DR Cillaliz, sorry to hear about Marian...
-
Vibes for Richard and Ginny! Hope all is reasonably OK.
Thanks, DR FJL! This means I'll drive more on the way home than I did on the way here.
And now, we're heading towards the last intermision.
Intermission is over and it's the beginning of the end. :)
Vibes for DH Richard!
Boy, I go out for a good time and all hell breaks loose here! I send my confolences to DR cillaliz and good wishes to Richard.
Yhr greatest final performance I ever attended was March, 1980, when Len Carious ands Angela Lansbury left SWEENEY TODD. I would guess the entrance applause, riots after every number and the audience's refusal to leave at the finish added 30 minutes to the performance. It was a wonderful day, but if you didn't know SWEENEY TODD going into tat performance, I'm not sure you ever did that day. It was for the die-hards.
Today's closing of BRIGHT STAR never reached that frenzy, but it sure came close. This was a bigger, wilder closing than that for FINIAN'S RAINBOW.
As soon as Carmen Cusack walked onstage, the place erupted. In Act One several numbers got that enthusiastic response: the title song, "Whoa, Mama," and the wonderful "Asheville." Steve Martin joined the band for the Entr'Acte. The numbers that got the biggest ovations in Act Two were "Heartbreaker," which Paul Alexander Nolan performed really well, "I Had A Vision," and "At Long Last." At the curtain call the audience did not want to leave. They stayed through the Exit Music. Steve Martin, Edie Brickell, the choreographer and Walter Bobbie, who was badly snubbed by the tonys since this is his best direction and it's wonderful, all came out for the curtain calls.
I saw Martin Short talking to Walter during the intermission.
-
I will miss BRIGHT STAR a lot.
-
PAGE FOUR DANCE!!
-
Well, they're singing the last song, and then "The Bible..." will be done!
-
And now, it's over!
-
We have strike, and some kind of party, then I'm going home.
Until later!
-
My sympathies, Cillaliz.
-
Great photos, Vixmom.
-
Congratulations, JRand.
Isn't there a saying "So it has been written, so shall it be done."
Congrats on a successful run!
So glad you had a good time, Larry!
-
Good evening!
-
I'm glad you were able to see the last performance of "Bright Star," DR elmore!
-
Nice photos on HHW today!
-
I went to see "Evita" today at the Olney Theatre in Olney, Maryland. I enjoyed it. My friends and I agreed that the standout was Robert Ariza , who played Che.
-
Health vibes for DH Richard!
-
Thank you, DR KevinH!
-
Condolences to DR CILLA LIZ and the family of her piano teacher.....neighbor....friend.
HEALTH vibes for RICHARD!
-
Thanks to all for the congrats! I hear some thunder so that is nice.
IT was HOT today during the set building, but we had 11 people there to help us....so it took only 2 hours and 40 minutes. I should never climb a ladder.....and I need to stay hydrated!
I came home and went to sleep for two hours.
-
I think the film version of the play that MR BK is going to do may be on television right now.
-
A little paint and some furniture and we're done!
Made some chicken stroganoff over rice - not too much and very tasty.
-
Am now following on online auction and after having been doing that for a few weeks now there is no doubt in my mind that there is serious hanky panky going on and not just from one front.
-
HEALTH vibes for RICHARD!
Thanks, DR JRand!
-
DR ELMORE - I believe BRIGHT STAR will have a long and active life after Broadway.
Well, they're singing the last song, and then "The Bible..." will be done!
Isn't there a saying "So it has been written, so shall it be done."
Congrats on a successful run!
Thanks, Fred! As it turns, there was no after-strike party. One of the women left right after strike to drive to California with a couple of other people to go to what she called "clown school," even though that's not exactly what it is. I didn't hear what it really was that they were going to, only that it would take about 8 1/2 hours to drive there.
-
I went home, dropped off my stuff, emptied the recycling bin, and now am having a Love Salad with teriyaki chicken at the local Happy Teriyaki. :D
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Still following the auction. It's always amusing to watch something that's been at 26.00 for an entire week - it comes up - no one is upping it and the five-second warning issues and in the next ten seconds it goes up to over 200 bucks - shenanigans? I think so and I'll be talking about it in the notes.
-
Watching Lucky Stiff. Very fizzy and effortless. Loving the music and all the surprises, such as Juliet Mills in a throwaway role as a secretary and Cheyenne Jackson as a somewhat sleazy nightclub singer. The visuals are also great.
One more.
Five!
-
The library has the documentary Bill Cunningham: New York. So, I should be watching that later this week.
I didn't notice Juliet Mills. Guess I wasn't paying as much attention as I should have.
Nice photos DR Vixmom!
Feel better vibes for Richard!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
So sorry to hear about your friend, Cillaliz. Such wonderful memories you have of her!
-
I hope Fr. Richard feels better soon.
-
Hugs, Vixmom. I can only imagine how hard it is having the Vixter moving away.
Many years ago, a little local theater did Lucky Stiff. They did a wonderful job. It was the funniest thing ever. I saw it somewhere else, and it was just awful.
VIBES FOR DH RICHARD!!!!!!!
-
Laura, I did find a copy of "The New Joys of Jell-O Brand Gelatin Dessert Recipe Book" in the mess of books. I'm going to keep it. You never know when you'll need a recipe for Jellied Prune Whip, Molded Tomato Relish, Jellied Avocado Ring or, most intriguing of all, Jellied Turkey Salad with celery, grapes and tarragon.
-
I just came across the best of the lot: Jellied Salad Nicoise.
It has tuna, tomato, French dressing, anchovies, egg, olives, green beans, bell pepper and onions all floating in Lemon Jell-O.
I'm watching the new version of The $100,000 Pyramid. Michael Strahan, recently former co-host of Kelly and Michael is the new host. He's pretty good.
-
I want to see the new Match Game. I guess everything old is new again.
Good night, all.
The whole thing is more manic than the original and the set is all neon lights.
What is a love salad?
It's a salad with chicken and some kind of peanut (I think) sauce/dressing. I have no idea why they call it a "Love Salad," but that's what it's called.
Yes. They usually have plain chicken, but teriyaki chicken is an option for an additional cost.
