Well, you've read the notes, the notes were very productive, and now it is time for you to post until the productive cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TWEEDLE!
-
First post after BK!
-
Good night, George.
-
Good night, Guests.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
And a Very Happy Birthday to DR Cillaliz!! :D
-
Happy happy birthday to dear Cilla!!!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I had a couple of strange dreams, but I only remember bits of them:
1. my parents, I and several cousins - no brothers - are in the west, maybe Colorado? - and we're near the edge of a cliff looking across at all these people climbing rock formations. One falls into the space, and it turns out there's a river and then everyone with me is swimming.
2. I'm sorta at my Aunt Lois; home and a mall and a movie about a giant. I think Jennifer Anniston, an actress I'm not particularly fond of, may have been in this one.
-
Joshie was tied up yesterday - and will be tied up today - with band rehearsals, so I'm not leaving the apartment. I must finish Act One of GUYS & DOLLS.
-
My wonderful sister-in-law Jo sent the property taxes yesterday. $604 pissed away and due next Friday, the 22nd. That's what the next Guys and Dolls check will pay for.
Ten years later, the property still hasn't sold, and we've paid $30,000+ in taxes, all because my dumbass brothers in their greed did not want to pay a realtor commission ten years ago.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday to our DR Cillaliz !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tuesday morning greetings! I'm having lunch today with my friend Becky and will give her some ALA goodies. We attended many annual conferences together - Chicago, Atlanta, New Orleans...
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR Cillaliz!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vibes for the sister-in-law of DR Ginny! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks, DR Elmore! Janet is actually my sister-in-law's sister, but I'm sure Kathy could use some vibes, too.
-
Good morning, all.
-
My dream -- well, who the hell even knows what it was about, but it seemed to be obsessed with the music of "Belle", the opening number in Beauty and the Beast.
-
Vibes for Janet!
-
I have to pay a couple of ugly bills and get a little outdoors work done today.
Then at some point today or tomorrow I must load the Gypsy string reduction programming back into my keyboard and start making sure it's all playable - and practice playing through it reading it off the iPad. I'll also correct some notes and accidentals errors I noticed in passing, then give my friend who arranged it a clean corrected copy that's all in one document. (He had each cue in a separate PDF file, and I have to wonder how anyone ever used it in that format.) It's not long till we'll be getting together on that.
-
Vibes for Janet!
Thanks, DR ChasSmith!
TOD:
Cherry pie is the favorite for both me and Mark and we almost never like the same foods. Mince meat is horrid, but I love almost every other kind of pie. Apple and peach are wonderful. I prefer a lattice crust over a dutch crust, but I would eat dutch apple too. The best pie comes from the House of Pies where they make Bruce's beloved peanut butter pie, which is very good, but I'd like it better if there was some chocolate in it. I found one other place that made a chocolate peanut butter pie, but they also put banana in it, which kind of ruined it. The best frozen store-bought pie is made by Claimjumper.
-
Good morning.....the latest edition of the Broadway Radio Show is up on the site. It's a look back at the career of the late John McMartin, one of my favorite theatre performers. We'll hear from shows like Little Mary Sunshine, Sweet Charity, Grey Gardens, and, of course, Follies. Enjoy!
-
Maybe I'm up, maybe I'm not - I've slept about two-and-a-half hours so far. Ridic.
-
A Very Happy Birthday to DR Cillaliz!! :D
Happy Birthday DR CILLA LIZ.
Those of you who don't care for mince meat pies, that means only one thing: more for me! :)
But I haven't had an actual mince MEAT pie since I was a kid. They're all "mince pies" now, aren't they? I do want to try a real one sometime.
Happy Birthday wishes to DR Cillaliz!
Thanks, DR JRand!
I suppose I could post a photo here on the board, Jrand. Have you listened to LA Now and Then yet - that might make me post it more quickly. :)
Yesterday I read a really lovely tribute to John McMartin by Hal Prince. So, I wrote Hal and told him how much I'd enjoyed it and I just got a very sweet e-mail from him.
Happy birthday, Cillaliz!
TOD:
I love almost any kind of pie, especially cherry, rhubarb, gooseberry and key lime (not all together, mind you).
I'm taking a recipe for an intriguing sounding latte pie that I might make for Mom's birthday. It's got coffee in the crust as well as the bottom layer with a meringue on top.
I love a good lemon meringue pie.
I really, really want some.
Custard pie, along with pumpkin pie, is the most calorie friendly pie - custard is actually a bit less than pumpkin.
-
That is good to know, if only I could find one. My mother used to bake delicious custard pies. Then Johnson's frozen pies make a pretty good one that was easy to pop in the oven. When we lived in Michigan there was a market that sold unbaked custard pies in their bakery, alternating between regular & coconut. They eventually make only coconut. We moved to Connecticut for a year and when we returned they no long had the pies.
Interesting. I would not have thought that.
I do love me some custard filled donuts, too. :D
Damn them! Damn them all to HELL!!
;)
-
I don't care for custard filled donuts.
-
We finally had time to go to t-Mobile and get my phone fixed. It stopped connecting to the internet the day before we left Barcelona. Siri would occasionally talk to me, and occasionally I could play music, which is why we thought it was a problem with the phone and didn't realize it might be something else.
-
First the t-mobile guy replaced the SIM card since that is often the problem with phones not working.
-
When that didn't work he looked at our account and then asked if we had made any recent changes to it.
-
Keith had made a change on-line which began June 1st. For some reason it upgraded his phone and completely removed the internet access to mine, yet it took until June 6th for me to be removed. Now the mystery is why Siri worked sporadically and google music every once in awhile
I could make one, and would have if I had my mother's recipe. The problem with the pies has always been that I was the only one eating them.
-
To clarify, I wasn't the only one eating them as a child. The believe I had some help with the pies as an adult, but not too much help.
-
Sometimes I see a little custard pie tart but unfortunately they usually aren't all that good. The only truly good one I have had was at a bakery on the Isle of Man.
-
A slice of custard pie has only 220 calories, less than most candy bars. Pumpkin pie has 323 calories in a slice. Cherry pie is about 304 calories. Apple pie is similar to cherry, as is peach pie. Of course bigger slices, bigger calories. Then we get into coconut custard pie, which is 270 per slice. But let's go the bad boys of pie - coconut cream pie slice is 425. Chocolate cream pie is about 380. But the grandaddy of bad boy pies is, of course, pecan - one slice is 456.
-
You can order a custard pie from here overnight it and voila, Jane.
I wonder what my brother's chocolate bourbon pecan pie would be calorie wise. It's actually Emeril's recipe, I'm guessing more than 456
Having a quiet birthday. My former client, once again brought me a dozen roses, a birthday cake, apple juice, an a gift. He's such a sweetheart. Every year he brings me a gift. Makes my whole day.
Have had lots of facebook greetings an of course the special HHW greetings. Thanks everyone. It really does feel good difference to be remembered.
I'm eating a platter of Cincinnati Chili that has to be at least one and one half times the size of a large platter at Skyline. And piled higher.
Best I ever made.
I've got this nailed.
Only 23,651 calories.
Washing it down with an ice cold Vernors.
You didn't mention lemon meringue.
Ah, lemon meringue - my guess is it's not as heavy as other cream pies, but let's find out: 362.
Well, I must be off. Tonight is Theater Artists Olympia's monthly board meeting and I'm on the board, so I need to be there.
Be back later.
Thanks for the travel vibes. Flights were uneventful, which is the best.
I read 150 pages of a Balzac novel that I only seem to read while traveling. I've got 150 pages to go.
Instead of a pie, I'm going to make a fig tart for Mom's birthday tomorrow. I brought for or five dozen figs I'd picked in the last three days and hadn't had time to put up yet.
-
I did get a headache from the airplane air , so I'm going to say good night.
But not before this page is done.
Not too long now.
One more.
Happy Birthday to Cilla!!!
Vibes for Janet
-
my baby brother is down from Boston working on LI fora couple of days
-
Monday night he took my Mom out for dinner for her birthday and tonight both my brothers , one SIL (the other one is in Boston) and Vixdad and I gathered at om's and had coffee and carvel birthday cake (the one oi bought for her yesterday)
-
and I made some plans for Vixdads birthday in two weeks...
-
we are going to travel to the state of DR Chas and enjoy dinner in a dining car on the Essex steam train
-
then we will be spending the night and the next day we will take a trip on the steam paddle wheeler and perhaps another train ride before heading home
-
BTW Chas we will be staying at your place, please havea full English breakfast ready for Sunday morning
-
:D
-
actually originally I was reserving a place at a B & B , I was annoyed they had a two night minimum and we would need to drive up friday night ... but they were supposed to include first class tickets for n=both the steam ship and train rides
-
th eowner was supposed to call me back yesterday to confirm all the details and he never did
-
I called tonight and was advised that the price quoted did not include any tickets that offer was only good Sunday through Thursday and was going to be 15% higher than we were told so i cancelled the reservation
-
I went through booking.com and found a hotel that we could book for just the Saturday and included free breakfast then we went to my Moms
-
when i go t back i dod some more browsing and discovered there was a special deal at this hotel if we were going to the steam ship/train place.
-
I called and spoke to a very nice gentleman who told me that he did have such a deal but he was fully booked - I explained about my reservation and he said he could re-book me for the same room at $50 savings - so he did that and i cancelled my booking.com booking
-
the savings in going from two nights to one and the additional price reduction will completely pay for the tickets and dinner
-
the pie social at our church for next weekend was cancelled due to lack of ticket sales (to be rescheduled later in the year)
-
Saskatoon berry pie is a favorite in this house
-
we have only eaten it in in Canada
-
I am very fond of the wildberry pie at the Perkins in Florida
-
when i was a teenager i used to make a lemon meringue pie every week my family loved it and I was pretty good at it
-
but Vixdad and the Vixter were not fans and I have not made it in years
-
I used to make apple pies as well but I have gotten lazy in recent years and will just pick one up at Costco
-
I do still make chicken pie and beef and mushroom pie for dinner sometimes
-
the vixter suggested ( when the pie social was still on) that I should consider making one of those for my pie .. after all there was no requirement in the rules that it be a dessert pie
-
i wonder how close we are to page six?
-
not that close
-
i have received my copy of LA now and then and intend to give it a listen over the weekend
-
just in case anyone was wondering
-
and I suspect at least one someone was
-
oh looky I made a page 6 where there was none before
-
Happy Birthday to Cilla!!!
Thanks Vixmom
-
I have had a very nice birthday. I heard from many many people on FB and here. Even though I know it's just a quick little type and click, it really made a difference to me to see all those greetings. Vitalino made my day with the cake and flowers.
-
Other than that, I had phone calls from family, ate Japanese food by myself (well, I know the people at the restaurant and ran into someone I hadn't seen in a long time) and spent the evening at home with the cats. I had several pieces of cake today, but don't think I ever ate dinner. Now, I could have called people or gone out for a dinner myself or bought myself a gift, but truthfully, I just didn't want to do that. I did greet people today by saying "Say Happy Birthday" and they would, lol. It was a very nice day
-
Good evening!
-
Happy Birthday to DR Cilla!
-
Vibes to DR Ginny's sort of relative-in-law, Janet.
-
Vixmom, how are you doing with your empty nest?
-
DR John I hope your headache improved before you made the fig pie.
Good night, Jane.
-
Hmmm, Cilla and Vixmom left the site. Probably to share a pie.
-
I like most fruit pies except I don't care for rhubarb, and I don't like any apple pie.
-
I know that is basically un-American, but I can't help it.
-
Give me a cherry pie or a blackberry pie, or even a peach pie.
-
My mom must not have liked peach pie, because I don't remember her making them while I was growing up.
-
Lots of banana cream and lemon meringue pies.
-
But my very favorite pie is my mom's tamale pie.
-
I guess I was a really picky kid.
-
But not nearly as picky as my sister.
-
One more post to go.
7even!
Now, unless I am still confused, tomorrow is the old actor's lunch.
I hope the clouds burn off by noon, so that we can eat out on the patio by the water.
We will be dining at The Fish Peddler.
Hello, 0 Guests!
-
Nicky got his first e-mail today.
-
It was his pre-procedure letter for his procedure next Tuesday.
-
I didn't tell Nick that he got an e-mail because I would have to tell him about next Tuesday.
-
The letter said that he could have to stay as long as ten days following the procedure.
-
It all depends on how quickly the radiation gets out of his system.
-
He has never been away from home for one night, let alone ten nights.
-
George must be at a very long board meeting.
