Well, you've read the notes, the notes were pleasant and written in the Valley on a Sunday, and now it is time for you to post until the pleasant Valley cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EXOTERIC!
-
First post after BK!
-
Well, I must say good night. The battery level on my tablet is now less than 5%, so it's going to die soon.
Have a good day, all :)
-
Good night, George!
-
First daytime post of the day.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Second human being up and posting this morning.
-
Not that I have much to report. Yesterday I was hither and yon, today I am home.
-
My, that was exciting!
I don't know how I'll ever top that one!
-
Good morning, all!
-
Awake by 8. And ready to go back to bed.
-
I have some friends coming by around 1:00, so I need a market trip this morning.
-
DR Ginny, Randy's property is eight acres. The new house has 1.5 acres. Jo said the realtor is coming by on Monday to do the listing. My immediate response was, ask him if his company handles commercial property.
-
BK, did you tell us what the theme of the next show is and I forgot?
-
I'm down to the final two episodes of Anna Karenina and War & Peace has not shown up. I was so sure I had set it aside for the next viewing several months ago. If only I knew where "aside" was in the apartment!
-
Tomorrow I am getting my hair cut and it's way past time.
-
Fifteen years ago today I was dealing with John McGlinn madness, sitting in the recording booth of Henry Wood Hall in London, when George Dvorsky and Hugh Panaro announced that a plane had just hit the World Trade Center.
-
Good morning.
I watched history happen from the jury assembly room in Phoenix.
-
I have to do things, but I'd rather go back to sleep.
-
Was just thinking about McGlinn.
I didn't know about this box set till yesterday:
https://www.amazon.com/Broadway-Musicals-John-Mcglinn/dp/B002NZOLFA/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1473600635&sr=1-1&keywords=John+mcglinn
-
That was kind of a non sequitur.
What I'd been thinking about the past couple of days was the eventual fate of the music library room at Toyland, the very thought of which still sickens me.
And I just happened to discover the existence of that box set yesterday. It's just a put-together of the individual albums, right?
-
On my way to see my girl!!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Vixmom's in Florida!!
-
The bird and I made it from Louisville in one piece. And in one straight shot. It took 17 hours overall.
-
Travel vibes, Vixmom! And for Jane and Keith, too.
-
17 hours in a straight shot???
I can do 12 or 13, can't imagine more than that.

That's an interesting set. I don't see why they use the No, No, Nanette art since there isn't a recording of No, No, Nanette in the set. Also, the CD-ROM sounds interesting, but not worth the price of all the other CDs, which I already have.

With bathroom breaks and filling up the car and tending to the bird. That added about an hour, maybe 90 minutes, to it.
-
Two!
-
My eyes were very tired by the end.
-
And then I had to assemble to bird's cage and get him comfortable.
-
And then I was too tired to sleep.
-
I still am, but I managed to get about seven hours. I'm going back for more.
-
Thanks for the notes on Genius, Druxy. I probably won't be buying that one.
-
On the drive back, I listened to the last three-quarters of Eric Jerome Dickey's Sleeping With Strangers, which was supposedly a noir thriller but was really explicit sex scene after explicit sex scene. There's a sequel, Waking With Strangers. Maybe they have time for the plot in that one. Naaaaah.
-
I also listened to the first third of Swann's Way. I've tried reading Proust, but the crazy curlicues of sentences sort of puts me to sleep. Listening to them, especially as read by George Guidell, was a lot easier. I guess, if I ever pick up the other six volumes, I'll be reading it out loud to myself.
-
It is indeed another pleasant valley Sunday. Let's hope it stays that way.
-
Good morning.
Now, back to work.

As soon as John died, EMI, which had dropped his contract around 1995, took full advantage of all the recordings he'd made for them. I think all of his recordings are there except for the Gershwin Songs and overtures, but it's a really good deal. Whoever did the artwork implies there's the 1970 NO NO NANETTE revival, rather than 1925 original, and the Lincoln Center revision of ANYTHING GOES. since EMI did neither of those recordings, that's pretty irresponsible!

On my way to see my girl!!
Tell her hello from me!

Me, neither, but you know we booksellers know nothing, except be nice to the customer who may know even less.
-
Thank you DR George.

On my way to see my girl!!
😎 Have fun.

Travel vibes, Vixmom! And for Jane and Keith, too.
Thanks but that should have been sleeping vibes ;)
-
Nice house picture posted by DR ELMORE yesterday!
I also was happy that DR GEORGE was recording ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN for his father.....it is a most excellent example of what it is.....
-
Waiting ... patiently ... for a full report on where those Vixes are eating.

Have-fun vibes to the vixfamily!

Nice house picture posted by DR ELMORE yesterday!
I asked her which room was mine. She said I have to fight the grandkids for it.
-
And I'll bet you could take them with one arm tied behind your back. Go for it!

Sunday afternoon greetings! Richard and I attended Heritage Sunday today at First United Methodist Church here in Middletown. It's the church where his parents grew up and married, where he and his brothers grew up, where we were married, where Rob grew up and had his Eagle Scout Court of Honor, and where memorial services were held for both of Richard's parents. Today was Heritage Sunday to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the building (congregation is much older), which was designed by Samuel Hanneford, the architect of Cincinnati's Music Hall. There was a service filled with hymn-singing and a lovely potluck luncheon in Fellowship Hall. Many good memories...

On my way to see my girl!!
Tell her hello from me!
And from me!
-
I'm up, I'm up - finally I got almost ten hours of sleep.
-
Next Kritzerland is Flaherty and Ahrens.
-
Travel vibes, Vixmom! And for Jane and Keith, too.
~~~Ditto and Ditto!!~~~
-
BK - Will Ahrens and Flaherty be part of the event in some way?
Company gone, I've been playing with my memoirs.
-
Not necessarily DR ELMORE....that would probably be COUNT THREE AND PRAY....but it is....uh....unique.....
-
I was sorry to learn that actor Ritch Brinkley died last November. He was Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened . . ., my first professional acting job in 1976. He was a wonderful guy and I was really proud of his success on Murphy Brown and Beauty and the Beast. During the Forum run, he and I, possibly his grilfriend at the time, went to see the Brando film Last Tango In Paris.
I can't call us friends; we hadn't communicated since 1976, but I am so sorry to learn of his death.
-
Up after the second nap of the day.
-
Starting a Helen Mirren movie called Eye in the Sky.
-
48% and the first of the Richard Sherman signed musical quotes is now gone. Really pleased for that percentage in three days.
Great news!
"Royal Wedding" is on TCM right now. Fred Astaire and Jane Powell play brother and sister. I just looked them up and they're 30 years apart in age. I know it can happen, but 30 years?
-
I love Royal Wedding. The dance on the stormy seas is wonderful, as is the Alan Jay Lerner-Burton Lane Score.
-
Sorry to hear about the loss of your acquaintance, Elmore.
-
Great news, BK.
They just did that dance.
Fred's dancing on the ceiling now. :)
Fred's dancing on the ceiling now. :)
Hey, how can you see me through the computer?
Oh, you meant a different Fred. :)
-
HA!
-
Sorry to hear DR ELMORE.....people we know are people we know, no matter how long or great the distance...
-
There's a bumper on TCM with Jane Powell who says she asked Fred during RW...."When was the last time you danced with your sister?"
Fred replied: "Oh, I guess that was in 1929."
And Jane piped in: "Oh...that's the year I was born....."
Fred simply said: "Well they just keep getting younger....."
-
Congrats to MR BK on the IndieGo total!
-
I am watching the U.S. Open Men's Finals.....most entertaining.
-
One of the readers in WORDS: Sci-Fi invited everyone to come to her and her husband's house to watch "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." I haven't seen it in years (even though I do own it), so I'm going to go. And it's time for me to go!
Be back later.
It is nice to have a long connection like this.
-
One, possibly two more chapters to go.
Good evening !
-
I met friends at Panera this morning and saw their new granddaughter for the first time.
-
DR Kate had the family over for pizza tonight.
-
After thunderstorms last night it was a beautiful day today --- temps in the 70's and sunny.
-
Page 4!
-
Casablanca is on TCM right now.
Sadie the dog is sound asleep on the recliner while DR Kate's husband is asleep on the floor, having been kicked off his chair by said Sadie.
Please say hello to DR Kate.
-
Dr Jane - I relayed your message and DR Kate sends her regards.
-
DR Jane: I'm glad to see you and Keih made it back home safely !
-
I've heard "on set" twice on TCM in the last ten minutes.
-
Howdy to DR Kate.
-
Starting to watch Miles Ahead. Don Cheadle is great as Miles Davis, but I don't have the concentration for it tonight.
-
I once saw Miles Davis at a Newport Jazz Festival in Sarasota. I was down in the photo pit right at the edge of the stage. Incredible. Wish I had those photos, but the negatives were owned by the paper.
-
Gratuitous post No. 101.
-
Cranberries!
-
Underpants!
-
Spoo.
-
And good night, all.
-
My three sisters came over tonight to have a slumber party with my MOM. First we watched movies in the living room.
I chose SUMMER MAGIC and THE RELUCTANT DEBUTANTE both of which were great hits with the populace.
They have now retired to the bedroom to watch some shows ON DEMAND whilst I try to sleep.
I bought that movie for my dad's birthday last month. I don't know if he's watched it yet, but he LOVES Miles Davis' music, so I hope it's good and he likes it.
-
Good evening!
-
Page four? Really?
-
I guess that is better than Page 3.
-
I'm so excited. Football season has started.
-
Be back later.
I'm home. We watched the extended director's cut. It's only 5 minutes longer than the shortest cut, the "Special Edition." All the little extra moments are character development and just add to the movie without being distracting. It still holds up and I still love it. :)
-
Both college and professional.
-
Both Ginny and I share the love of college football.
-
But I guess I am alone on pro football.
-
I love me my Seahawks.
-
They won their opening game of the season today.
-
Although the score (12-10) looks more like a baseball score rather than football.
-
Just one more post.
-
PAGE FIVE DANCE!!
-
-
They won their opening game of the season today.
Congrats to the Seahawks.
-
You snuck up on me George.
How was your Sunday, George?
-
How was your Sunday, George?
It was nice. I posted about CLOSE ENCOUNTERS on the last page. Otherwise, it was a nice quiet morning. Yours?
-
Dr Jane - I relayed your message and DR Kate sends her regards.
Thank you.
-
DR Jane: I'm glad to see you and Keih made it back home safely !
And again, thank you.
-
I can't believe that I am watching the Miss America Pageant.
Football, a nap, football, and then more football. Heaven!
-
I can't believe that I am watching the Miss America Pageant.
Darn. I was going to watch it because I like the talent portion, but I'm recording two different shows now.
-
I can't believe Miss Washington is in the Top Ten.
-
Oh, no! Pioneering Transgender Actress Alexis Arquette Dies at 47 (http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/pioneering-transgender-actress-alexis-arquette-dies-47-n646526).
:(
-
I can't believe Miss Washington is in the Top Ten.
That's cool!
-
Casting asks out - we'll see who responds. Tomorrow if I don't have a cast I'm changing the show and doing something that's easier to cast.
-
Did the shorter jog, had some prosciutto and melon balls for my snack and well under 1000 calories today.
-
I watched something - oh, yeah, a little documentary on Gregory Peck.
-
I watched something - oh, yeah, a little documentary on Gregory Peck.
Good or not? Or do I have to wait for tomorrow's notes?
-
Miss Washington is the third runner-up.
-
That is kind of cool that they play Bert Parks singing the Miss America theme for the winner.
-
Miss Washington is the third runner-up.
I was able to watch the crowning. They had four women up there when they announced the first runner up. So when they announced the final winner, the other two women who were still there weren't even runners up...they were really the bottom of the final seven? What's that all about??
-
I wondered if that was his voice.
They kept doing that all night. During the talent portion they had ten contestants sitting there, but only seven got to perform. Weird!
That didn't bother me as much for the earlier eliminations that I caught, but for the final announcement, it seemed kind of cruel.
-
I guess I thought the whole thing was kind of cruel.
