Well, you've read the notes, the notes were finding the holiday spirit, and now it is time for you to post until the holiday cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PARABLE!
-
First post after BK!
-
BK, you never answered the Ask BK question what you want Santa to bring you for Christmas. Remember, the sky is the limit because it is all fantasy anyway.
-
Gratuitous Post #4!
;D
-
Well, I need to go to bed. Tomorrow morning, I gave an earlier than usual meeting for which I CANNOT be late, so I can't stay up as late as I usually do.
Good night, Tom.
-
Good night, George.
-
Good morning to all
-
TOD
The Rachel Madow Show
-
It's not Friday yet,
-
Iy should be Friday, but it's not.
-
Good morning.
-
Good morning, all.
-
TOD: I binged on some youtube videos while my foot was on ice. I watched people garden, cook, treat sore ankles, make crafts, etc.
-
TOD:
I didn't watch much TV, even on DVD, but I did like the first seasons of both Poldark and A Place to Call Home.
-
Guess I'll see Moonlight after all. That was high praise indeed.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I had lots of dreams, but all I remember is something vague in which I made some comment about the unsuspected/unexpected private lives of public figures we think we know,
-
Well, BK made me want to see Moonlight! I knew nothing about it, know nly a little bit more now, but it sounds very interesting.
-
Today is a Joshie day at City Center. We'll look over a mess I'm trying to decipher, I hope there's some proofreading of digitized scores, and he wanrs to talk through a song he has to orchestrate. I'll bring some work home with me, since Joshie leaves for Vermont tomorrow and returns on the 27th.
-
Last night I began a quirky police drama-comedy Vexed, which stars Maggie Smith's son Toby Stephens and Lucy Punch, a pretty actress who played a very memorable spoiled rich girl who dies a nasty death on Midsomer Murders several years ago. The handsome Stephens, who usually plays brooding serious men like Rochester in Jane Eyre, is a very funny actor.
-
I'm ready to go back to bed. My cold is finally working its way out, and I feel okay, just not quite awake yet.
-
DR JohnG, I like the Christmas musicals idea very much. I think I may do that on Saturday, although I do find Here's Love a painful effort.
-
Thursday morning greetings! It's another friend day for me - Sue, my former Dayton co-worker, is coming to town for lunch and a chat about cataract surgery.
-
Good morning, all.
-
The engagement is over. Done. Out of here. The engagement has left the building.
-
So it's a ME day, but there are a number of things I must get done or at least begun.
-
I am up and functioning . I even slept a little. No rich sauces for me today. Keith has gone for coffee as I slept in.
-

I left out A Christmas Carol. I, too, don't care for a lot of Here's Love. Especially "She Had to Go Back."

The friend day part sounds nice.
-
Looking forward to meeting Jane tomorrow. We'll play the restaurant choice by ear. And the margarita spot. If the weather is nice, we could go to the bar Paramour, which is on a rooftop
-
Two!

Yes, this is my third in a row this week and it's been just what I needed.

Pain Be Gone vibes for DR TCB.
Friend Day vibes for DR GINNY.
Titanium Mouth vibes for DR VIXMOM.
-
It is up to 38 degrees here and warmer weather is expected this weekend.
It's a good thing there ain't no sanity clause.
-
I remember seeing Toby Stephens in something and being taken aback with how handsome he is.....but then of course.....it's all in the genes.

Speaking of Christmas musicals, I've been watching the musical highlights of TCB's performance as Scrooge. Simply wonderful! I'll try to make time to watch the whole thing again this weekend.
-
TOD:
MAD MEN....although it may have ended last year.....
The AMAZING RACE....still my favorite reality type show
Leah Remini's Scientology series

Pain Be Gone vibes for DR TCB.
Friend Day vibes for DR GINNY.
Titanium Mouth vibes for DR VIXMOM.
I'll second that.
-
Keith returned with an incredible gingerbread topped with lemon icing. I only tasted enough of the icing to know it was good. I prefer a deep, flavourful gingerbread plain. Keith's favorite was the rich pumpkin streusel.

We are in your expert hands and will watch for a text telling G us where and when.

I was very good and only sampled the muffins. We are headed out soon to explore. On our walk will be a stop for me to see this delish bakery.
-
Have a nice day.
-
Foot vibes for DR Laura!
-
Gingerbread with lemon icing.....I think I would like to try that!
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight and a half hours of sleep.
-
Now to figure out why the Time Machine router is blinking yellow - probably time for an update since I'm on the Internet.
-
It was indeed an update, so that's done.
-
BK, you never answered the Ask BK question what you want Santa to bring you for Christmas. Remember, the sky is the limit because it is all fantasy anyway.
Peace of mind and cash.

I am home from City Center with a pile of scores to work on and a check for my frst New Yorkers payment. I won't poor for a while and that's really lovely.
-
I love getting gift cards as gifts as long as they are for places that I like. Amazon .com giftcards are the best gift ever. Although you can't physically both those here. And nobody in my family would think to buy them online.
I think gift cards are fine as gifts if they are for places that the person would like to buy from.
-

Good night, Tom.
Well, I got to my meeting right on time. It went well and only lasted about 40 minutes.
-
And now, I'm finishing up the end-of-year report for bill paying while listening to the Souvenir (http://www.kritzerland.com/kay_cole.htm) samples. Love them! I especially enjoyed the up-tempo "Can't Help Lovin' That Man of Mine." :D
-
Yesterday I started not feeling too great. By dinner it felt like I had a blade in my throat every time I swallowed. So now I am trying to eat soft things.

Hello and the Happiest of Holidays to old friends, new friends, and strangers. I have, yes, been gone from this site for lo these many years, but I still loom about. It's just that thing that always interferes. You know, that thing that keeps you away from people and things and pleasures you really enjoy? What's it called, that thing? Oh yes. It's called life. Always getting in the way of everything.
P.S. Gifts with very large price tags will be accepted for my 72nd birthday tomorrow. But they are not required.
-
Welcome back, sir.
-
Cool cats, George.
-
Great news, Elmore. Getting paid to work on Cole Porter. That's cherce.
-
Bill Orr! Do not be a stramger. i am delighted to see you!
-
So nice to see you DR WILLIAMFORR!!!
And happy 72nd less than 24 hours from now.
-
Congrats to DR ELMORE on his earned largesse!
-
Those are two nice things to ask for MR BK......
-
Hi, Larry. Thanks.
I shall return. [glares ominously]
-
Welcome back, William F. Orr!
-
Cool cats, George.
Thanks, John. I thought so, too. 8)
-
It seems like Friday, but it's not....it's Thursday. Tomorrow is Friday....which is good.
-
Seems like I need more time to finish up everything.
-
And more time to party.
-
Someone needs to bring a margarita to my desk. Now.
-
I'm sure Vixmom could use one, too.
-
Seems like I need more time to finish up everything.
And more time to party.
It's a never-ending vicious cycle.
-
Well, what a damn treat to come home from a really fun lunch with Nick Redman and Mike Matessino and find posts by the long errant and truant William F. Orr. Welcome back!
-
I had me a Thai salad and my usual beloved cashew chicken - all great. Conversation was MOST amusing.
-
Then I picked up two packages, came home, found a screener for some movie I've never heard of called The Edge of Seventeen, printed out some orders, and realized that while I uploaded that missing fifth disc from the Barbirolli Sibelius, I hadn't actually listened - so am now to him absolutely lovely Sibelius sixth - I just love his performances of these symphonies. Plus that missing disc also had several filler pieces that I didn't have at all, so those are next.
-
Dining room - cleaned. Countertops in kitchen - cleaned. Living room - cleaned. Next up - book room - which is a major deal but I'll get it done tonight so she of the Evil Eye doesn't have to clan around things.

Oh, no! I just read on the castrecl listserve (I get the once-daily digest version) that Dick Latessa (https://www.ibdb.com/broadway-cast-staff/dick-latessa-69651) died on Monday. :(
-
Yes, Dick is no longer with us - he was amazing in everything I saw him in.
-
Has someone mentioned Kay's album on castrec?
-
Has someone mentioned Kay's album on castrec?
Yes, I just came across that, also:
After 40 years, Kay Cole, A CHORUS LINE's original "Maggie," has recorded
her first and only solo album, SOUVENIR. It's a collection of songs from
Broadway, standards, and past-pop.
Due in early February, the CD can be pre-ordered at
http://www.kritzerland.com/kay_cole.htm
were details/track list/samples are availabe.

HERE (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/20/theater/dick-latessa-winner-of-a-tony-for-hairspray-dies-at-87.html) is an obituary for him, and it lists survivors:
In addition to Ms. Ortiz [his daughter, Gabrielle Latessa Ortiz], he is survived by his partner, Jonathan Hilton; his wife, a writer from whom he was separated; two other daughters, Rachel Toomey and Gina Latessa; a sister, Antoinette Linden; two brothers, Donald Latessa and Gerald Latessa; and a granddaughter.
-
It's so funny to me - if it weren't for Max, who is tireless about promoting stuff, it wouldn't be mentioned there at all by that lot.
-
I shall shortly be on my way to Jerry's Deli to sup with a friend. I'm not hungry at all, frankly. I may have a dessert or just something really light.
-
I am now off to the movies! My friend Margo and I are going to (hopefully) see the IMAX 3-D version of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." Hopefully, it's not sold out! If it is (or too full0, we can go to the later showing. We'll see what happens.
Until later!

GOOD!
-
We spent the day walking around town and exploring the shops. The people are friendly and the food is good. We had planned to eat at a German restaurant when a Thai place was recommended to us. Tonight we had delicious pad see ew.
-
I found a couple of Chanukah gifts for the girls. I hope I can shut my little roll on bag.

Glad to hear things are going well for elmore
-
Yes, Dick is no longer with us - he was amazing in everything I saw him in.
He was in Busker Alley, as I recall.
-
Vibes for DR Jennifer
-
Back from a fun dinner. I was so not hungry, so I had a half sandwich and cup of tomato bisque - so hopefully no damage.
-
Went to Gelson's after and got all the other necessaries for the Do, at least I hope I got everything I needed, as I do NOT want to go back there.
-
DR Vixmom I think this would been a good day to buy that lottery ticket. ;)
-
I had one other (besides tomorrow's cleaning of the book room) area near the back doors to the patio, where both sides were piled high with crap. All but two of those things are now out in the garage and in the morning I'll attend to the rest. And frankly, if I'm feeling adventurous, I may attend to the book room this very evening - most of the stuff to move is on the couch there.
-
Listening to beautiful Copland - Eight Poems of Emily Dickenson, orchestra with Marni Nixon doing the vocals. Stunning music.
-
Page 5
-
Good evening!
-
I accomplished several "must do's" today
-
What a treat to see William F Orr visiting. I hope he will make it a frequent event.

Feel better soon, Jennifer.

Went to UPS and dropped off a package for vixdad
Did you really have to send vixdad a package? Couldn't you just hand it to him?
-
Back vibes for TCB
Thank you, vixmom.
-
Book room is clean. So, tomorrow I don't have to do anything at all, except in the evening when I'll do the tuna pasta salad, and the slicing and dicing.
-
I still have a few "must do's" to get done either tomorrow or Saturday morning.
-
Hopefully I can get it all done tomorrow.
-
I may have to take a few breaks during the day.
-
But if I finish everything tomorrow, I can rest all day on Saturday.
-
I am hoping I can go to church on Christmas Eve.
-
And now I shall be clean.
-
Listening to the soundtracks to Close Encounters and ET - I haven't taken these newer expanded editions out and listened to them since the day I bought them. I love the music from both films.
-
Also uploaded the rerecordings on Label X of Citizen Kane and The Magnificent Ambersons.
-
Today I saw the most beautiful couple.
-
I stopped for lunch at one of my favorite spots. It isn't fancy.
-
Some good old fashioned cooking, breakfast served all day, great desserts.
-
Anyway, I sat in the bar, because the bartender is a family friend.
-
First, this gentleman comes in the door. He was dressed like he just walked out of GQ. He was flawlessly groomed, well built, and incredibly handsome. Mr. Perfect.
-
Even one of the old drunks said to him, "Damn you must really work out to have a body like that."
-
He ordered breakfast and a drink and sat at a table by himself (Damn!)
-
He was about half way through his breakfast when this stunning blonde walks in the door and joins him at his table.
-
She was also flawless. Beautiful hair, stunning dress, gorgeous woman.
-
Six!
-
I think they were business associates, but what do I know.
-
I could have sat and stared at them for hours, but my back hurt.
-
I just thought I would share!
-
Hi, Tom.
-
I'm back from seeing "Rogue One" and having a late night appetizer at Applebee's.
-
I'm back from seeing "Rogue One" and having a late night appetizer at Applebee's.
How was the appetizer ....and the movie.
-
The movie was very good. Both Margo and I really enjoyed it. Great special effects and the actors were all good. It was the most racially diverse cast in any of the Star Wars movies.
