Happy anniversary to Ginny and Richard from here, too!
JohnG - just sent you an email. (at your yahoo account) I couldn't make the PMs work today for some reason.
Did anyone else watch the BBC Victoria, beginning this week? Their music staff made one glaring error: at her coronation ball, she danced with a Russian to the Quadrille from Strauss' Die Fledermaus, which was composed in 1873 or 1874. Her coronation was around 1839.
Cats are the bane of my existence DR TCB.....they are all from HELL as far as I am concerned....we have had a couple of nice ones - including Merlin the Store Cat - but most of them are ungrateful bastards.

No. Aside from the mistake how was it?
Does DR ELMORE post here anymore?

I posted about my reaction yesterday but no one responded. I posted three days ago about actor Dick Gautier's death and no one has yet mentioned it.
What I posted yesterday was this:
Last night I watched this new PBS series on the life of Queen Victoria. I liked it but I thought much of it was choppy, as though entire important scenes and information were removed for length, amd I was wondering about so much of the household plots that were going on, from tallow candles to rats. Was one of the queen's maids really a former prostitute?

I'm still enjoying "Timeless" although I certainly can relate to loving a show in the beginning and then getting tired of it. "Blacklist" was like that for me. I was starting to experience that with "Blindspot" but I'm sticking with it for now.
That sounds like a consumer nightmare, vixmom! Hope it all gets resolved in your favor.

Thanks for repeating it. I did notice regarding the news of Dick Gautier's passing. Sometimes I have trouble reading/seeing on my tablet and miss things.
Just received this nice e-mail re: my play, NELSON & JEANETTE. Makes my day.
Dear Mr. Druxman:
I have just read your play, and wish to congratulate you on the craftsmanship, intelligence, and circumspection you bring to it. At moments I intuited that my HOLLYWOOD DIVA was perhaps one of your research sources, and if so, I am pleased that it was useful to you. Has the play been produced much? It clearly calls for excellent singer-actors who can convey the wit and subtle sophistication your text demands - and such leads are, I imagine, not easy to find today!
With all good wishes,
Edward Baron TURK

I very much liked:
A Simple Plan by Scott Smith
A Judgment in Stone by Ruth Rendall
Thomas Harris' Red Dragon and The Silence of the Lambs
DR TCB I would contact the person who the cat belongs to and tell them what has been happening. They cannot expect you to chase the cat round your apartment. That is not your job. I would also tell the apartment's manager that this needs to be resolved ASAP.

Oh, I think he has expressed this to the manager.
DR TCB, would it be difficult for you to tape a note to Hell Kitty's door? If they understand the difficulty this is causing you they might be more considerate.
There's snow (wons spelled backwards) in them thar photos.
No. And again I say: No.
Tuesday afternoon greetings! Yes, Richard and I are celebrating our 36th wedding anniversary today. We signed on the dotted line this morning to have our old, yucky bathtub replaced with a spiffy new walk-in shower. For what it's costing, we could go to Europe and take another river cruise, but this really needs to be done. Work will begin on February 6.

You are together, that makes the day special :)
Even when it's already a special day, signing something on a dotted line pretty much guarantees it will be memorable.
:D
DR ELMORE after I read your post about Dick Gautier, I went looking for a photo of him as Conrad Birdie.....but then I got distracted....and by the time I got back here, it seemed too late to comment.....
Each of your posts is treated with the same reverence as a dictum from the Missouri Synod, so please don't think they are ever unread. They make my day.

We've often done something for the house for our anniversary. One year it was our dining room chandelier, another it was a washer and dryer. Never anything of this magnitude, though. We figure the tub would have to be replaced before the house could be sold, so we might as well do something we can enjoy for a while.
Psst, DR Jane, I'm wearing THE ring - don't tell Mom...

I must step out to visit an invalid friend. i hope I can walk there!

MR BK must be writing like a whirling dervish today.

Another interesting photo DR JANE! I have never lived near a river or large body of water.....so this fascinates me.
As a member of the Missouri Synod, I can attest to JRand's post.
I woke up tiday with body aches a headache a sore throat and a general feeling of misery
Happy anniversary to Ginny and Richard!!
Happy Anniversary, Ginny and Fr. Richard!
Happy Anniversary DR Ginny!
I finally did get to work around 10 did what was important, delegated where possible and left by 5
Then a spent an hour non the phone with a lovely woman from ATT that put everything to rights again
I also had a conversation with the manager of the Verizon. She apologized profusely and I calmly explained the events and told her that her employees had managed to take very eager prospective customers and by sheer ineptitude caused such chaos that no only did they lose our sale but others who turned up while we were there walked away without ever being acknowledged by the staff
Good evening. I have spent a glorious couple of days in southern Arizona birdwatching. It was stormy yesterday and the light was terrible for photos. Today was better, though.
Have a good trip and visit tomorrow.
DR GINNY my brother installed just such a shower when his mother in law moved in with them.......they have nothing but good things to say about its convenience and ease of use.
TOD:
I'll second Druxy's mention of And Then There Were None
Rebecca
Tell No One by Harlen Cobin.
The Girl With/Who books by Stieg Larssen
A novel for TCB: Cat Out of Hell by Lynne Truss
As a member of the Missouri Synod, I can attest to JRand's post.
As a member of ELCA ( that is to say a heretic of the worst order) I say I hold Elmore's posts in yet higher esteem that I do any dictums from MO
:D ;)
Also, there is a tv in this motel room that has cable. And there really is nothing on. I don't miss a tv at home at all.
Listening to Benjamin Britten's amazing Four Sea Interludes, the clear inspiration for Jerry Goldsmith's score for Islands in the Stream.
Here's the cover.

My ticket for The New Yorkers arrived in the mail today. Grand Tier Right. C20.
For you Place to Call Home fans, Elizabeth just sang "When I Grow to Old to Dream" to a group of homeless veterans. That song always gets me, and the setting of this made it even more touching.

Let me know how the book is, George.
I got a new one (to me) in the mail today: His Monkey Wife by John Collier. I don't know if I'll start it or Cathie Pelletier's One-Way Bridge, which I've wanted to read for a while.
I did finish the latest volume of Proust in the middle of the night, and I'm not quite ready to start the next volume just yet.
