Well, you've read the notes, the notes were vaudeville, and now it is time for you to post until the vaudeville cows come home.

And the word of the day is: SHIVOO!

Today, I will be ushering for the latest in the WCPA's Silent Movie Series: HAMLET (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/event/silent-movie-series-hamlet/). These are always great and I always look forward to them. :)
-
Last night I got to hug my girl
-
Vixter, Charles(vixBF)' Vixdad and I went out to dinner to catchup and celebrate Charles birthday (which was actually the 13th)
-
We planned to go to a local hibachi place but apparently everyone in Florida had the same plan
-
Since we didn't feel like waiting 85 minutes for a table we decided to try call ahead seating for the local Texas Roadhouse..where we were told there was a 10 minute wait..
-
We had a nice meal and a nice visit
-
Good morning all!
-
I went to bed quite early. This ridiculous executive order banning Muslins got me really bent out of shape. I like nothing abut the way the new administration is handling anything and I find myself either terrified for the safety of myself and everyone else or I am seething with anger at the despicable atrocities the administration is trying to pull off against its constituents. I worry about my Medicare and Social Security, I am dumbfounded by the callous inhumanity of men who clearly went into politics for their own ends and not to serve the public, and I am in shock over their careless attitude of destroying health insurance for millions of citizens without providing a worthy alternate..
I am not suicidal but I'd rather be dead than live in a country that daily embarrasses me.
-
DR vixmom, how long are you in Florida? Please give the Vixter my regards.
-
I find my anixety/depression/whatever is affecting my work, but I must make a dent in the vocal score for Guys & Dolls today.
-
I would rather get a ticket to Hidden Lives and go to the movies.
-
DR TCB, I hope your health situation is improving.
-
DR vixmom, how long are you in Florida? Please give the Vixter my regards.
We head home on Saturday - and I will
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good to hear those Vixes are finally together in Florida ... eating. :)
-
I have to say BK is far braver than I when it comes to listening to so many recordings and interpretations of a given set of pieces.
I always tended to settle on one or two, maybe three, recordings that make sense to me, and that would be it for life. :) But so many of my decisions along those lines were made so many years ago, that it would now make sense to branch out a little.
Interesting report on the Melodyia set. Was that an Angel line back in the day, or am I confusing it with something else? I don't know if I had any of them.
-
I wish I could have heard Sibelius when he was playing the Orpheum Circuit.
-
Continued vibes of health to DRs TCB and John G. and everyone who can use 'em.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Continued vibes for TCB.

Yesterday was a very long day. I got up at 5:30, got to the hotel by 7, started dancing at 7:40 and didn't get home until 2 this morning. I'm exhausted. And I doubt I'll have much time to rest. I'm headed to Austin in a bit to celebrate Chinese New Year.
-
Happy New Year, y'all.
-
Good morning.
-
Please keep DR Kerry in your thoughts and prayers as well.
-
Last night I got to hug my girl
Aw! Hope the rest of the visit is great -- and the lines are short.

Vibes and prayers for DR Kerry.

I do so every day. Keith has asked about him too.

Sunday morning greetings - just under the wire!
-
We've had a slow morning, because Richard felt and sounded last night like he was coming down with a cold. We decided not to get up for church this morning and he seems to feel a bit better. The pecan waffle breakfast must have helped...
-
I was just thinking yesterday that I haven't had a waffle or a pancake or a french toast or any other such breakfast in some weeks now.
-
some weeks = too many weeks
-
I was just thinking yesterday that I haven't had a waffle or a pancake or a french toast or any other such breakfast in some weeks now.
Well, we made more waffles than we could eat, DR ChasSmth. Shall I pop one into the toaster for you?
-
Vibes for Kerry from us as well.
-
Vibes & prayers for DR Kerry...

We are having french toast this morning.
-
DR TCB, I hope you are greatly improved this morning.

I'm going to sign off for the afternoon. My friend Katie is picking me up a little after 2 for the Middletown Symphony's 2:30 concert. She and her husband have season tickets, but he's out of town. This is the last season for the symphony and I'm glad to have the opportunity to hear them one last time...
-
Please keep DR Kerry in your thoughts and prayers as well.
Thanks for reminding me, DR Laura!
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep and the sun is shining.
-
ChasSmith, Angel did release some Melodyia recordings, as I recall. I used to buy the actual Melodyia import LPs back in the day, but only for Russian music.
-
Randy just emailed me. He's meeting with the realtor tomorrow about listing the property. we are in agreement about holding out until the price moves back up, and I think talking to the realtor can only be helpful.
-
Vibes and prayers for DR KERRY.

I just watched the final episode of the MTM Show on Me Tv. It really is a good episode that seems a bit less so since it has been copied and imitated so much in the years since it first aired.....but it still touched me to see all of these characters walk away from each other after all those years together.....
-
I did my taxes yesterday......I get a big $6 refund from the Federal Government and a huge $57 refund from the State of Indiana.
-
I also enjoyed STANLEY AND IRIS.
-
I remember seeing THE MAD MAGICIAN back when it first came out. It's sort of a poor man's HOUSE OF WAX.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Continued vibes to TCB, Kerry, John G, and anyone else who needs them.
-
TCB, thanks for posting last night. I'm glad you were able to do so.
-
Larry, I share many of your worries and concerns. Since the election I've been more mindful of stress management. I feel I must brace myself before turning to the NYT. I don't feel I'm doing enough to counter the barrage of negativity that hits us all.
-
On that note, and since it's free-for-all day, I suggest this topic: which movies, TV shows, or music do you find relaxing, calming, or restorative when you're feeling stressed?
I'll start.
Movies:
THE BEST OF MEN
TV:
CALL THE MIDWIFE
MIRANDA
Music:
JS Bach (any of his works)
I'm sure there are others; these were just off the top of my head.

So you're buying lunch?
-
Have a gapped day, everyone.
(I TYPED, "Have a good day, everyone"!)
sighhhh...
TTFN.

Back from dim sum in Austin. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were told there was an 80-minute wait. So, we went shopping at the Asian supermarket in the same plaza where we spent about an hour. When we got back to the restaurant, we were told they had called our number 30 minutes ago. My friend, Ping, told them what they had originally said and so they seated us next.
-
The carts were laden with wonderful treats, including shrimp dumplings, curried squid, steamed meatballs, duck sandwiches, turnip cake (my favorite, with plenty of chile oil on top) and shrimp wrapped in tofu sheets.
-
We had egg custard tarts for dessert that were so delicious we had more.
-
Three!
-
Page three? Really?
-

I worked on Guys & Dolls, up to "I'll Know." Now I am back to "The Great Indoors." We have our first full orchestra reading in three weeks and there is much to do.
-
I did my taxes yesterday......I get a big $6 refund from the Federal Government and a huge $57 refund from the State of Indiana.
WOW! What are you going to spend it on ;)
-
DR John I am pleased you enjoyed your special lunch.
-
Jane, I did not eat the fried chicken feet. I just didn't have an appetite for that.
-
LOL
-
We saw HIDDEN FIGURES today. As expected it was excellent.

Several laughable nominations - all three Hidden Figures ladies should have been up. The actors branch of the Academy is pathetic and predictable. They doubt they even see half the movies they're supposed to and they just choose the name.
I agree all three ladies deserved nominations. If only one could be chosen why wasn't it Taraji P. Henson? Most of the story revolved around her. I suppose this was another instant when they went with the name.
My mistake, Olivia Spencer was nominated for supporting, not best. Now I am really shocked Taraji was not nominated for best actress.
-
Watching awards shows right now - with all the politically tinged acceptance speeches - is kind of like being invited to a party and then finding out your hosts want you to be under them in an Amway Pyramid.
-
Has anyone watchyed Mercy Street on PBS? I've just caught part of an episode.
-
Nope.
-
Is it good? It looks interesting.
-
Good evening!
-
Heath vibes for DR Kerry.
-
Health vibes for DR TCB.

Pretty little piggies.

Back from a fun meeting with Kay Cole - we went to PF Chang's and just had some egg rolls, and then we did our stint as judges - some good folks this year. Then I stopped at Gelson's and got some pasta with meat sauce - not much, but very good.

Well, the silent movie of "Hamlet" on its own was interesting. The concept was that Hamlet was born a girl and the king and queen kept that from the people so that "he" could become the next king. It was an enjoyable movie, with moments of unintentional humor, but otherwise, really well done. As for the music, usually, Dennis James plays the organ and maybe have a singer for the pre-show or intermission talks to the audience, but tonight he included a piano/harpsichord player (he played the piano AND the harpsichord...not at the same time, though) and a soprano who sang during the movie. It was all really well done and planned out. He talked about what he did but that was during the pre-show speech which I didn't hear because I was in the lobby at the door, tearing tickets for the late-comers.
-
Now that was interesting. Margo counted the tickets once his talk started and there were 202 door tickets, BUT only 180 or so tickets were actually sold for this event! It turns out that one of the ticket collecting stanchions still had tickets in it from January 14! It turns out that 45 tickets were not counted for that event. I assume that that particular stanchion hadn't been used since then because there have been a couple of events since then, and only tickets from the 14th were in the mix. I've NEVER heard of that happening before. Spoo!!

That's encouraging, Larry.

Darn. I totally forgot about this. I wonder if it'll be available on OnDemand. I started recording in the middle of the repeat broadcast after the original showing, so I totally missed the first hour. :P

PAGE FOUR DANCE!!
4!!!!
-
I really am still too exhausted from the weekend. Off to bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
Some Sibelius, Symphony No. 2, is sending me off to bed.
-
Oh, and a screeching bird, too.
-
Page four? Really?
-
Just relaxing with Sibelius/Barbirolli. A set I've heard a lot about with a conductor named Akeo Watanabe has never been issued on CD. It was on Epic here in the US in the early 1960s - people speak well of it and I've been interested to hear it, but there are 0 copies of the LP set (the first complete stereo cycle recorded) - but on eBay I happened upon a two-Reel-to-Reel set (slower speed unfortunately) and I made the seller a low ball offer (it wasn't much in the first place) and I got it. So, I'll have my transfer guy make me a two-CDR set and I'll have that.

Thanks for correcting me 😀

Just got a new bunch of cover ideas from Doug, one of which grabbed me instantly and which I just really like and I can't even tell you why, save for it just feels right to me somehow - I can't go into more detail without giving anything away. I sent the two I liked best to Muse Margaret - I'm hoping she likes the one I like. The other one is much simpler - kind of fun, but right now too bland - needs some color to it. The colors on the one I really like are absolutely perfection.
-
It will be interesting to know if Muse Margaret agrees with you.
-
good evening.
-
I am still sick as a dog.
-
I have nothing to post about because I have spent all the days and nights in bed.
-
I watched the Pro Bowl today.
-
That didn't require much thought.
-
Jane asked if I was staying hydrated.
-
Yes, I have juice next to the bed at all times.
-
I wanted to go to the store, but I was too sick to even try.
-
TV tonight was dreadful.
-
I ended up watching MISS UNIVERSE.
-
I think Sandy is pissed off at me, because I cancelled lunch tomorrow.
-
I am pretty sure that I am still contagious, and I didn't want to expose him to this bug.
-
I am not sure if I will get through another night like last night.
-
I thought about calling 911 about three o'clock this morning.
-
I thought about calling 911 about three o'clock this morning.
Oh, no! :(
-
I think I am a little better tonight.
-
I kept thinking how nice it would be to be in a hospital bed with round the clock care.
-
We shall see what happens tonight.
-
I hurt all over and I have a killer cough.
-
Okay I made it this far.
-
Page 5
-
I must stop typing.
-
Tom, I really hope you feel better quickly!!
-
I am still sick as a dog.
:(
-
Yes, I have juice next to the bed at all times.
Good, I am relieved.
-
Tom, I really hope you feel better quickly!!
You and me both.
-
Tom, I really hope you feel better quickly!!
DITTO!!!!
-
Good night.
-
Thank you George and Jane.
-
My guess is Sandy is more disappointed than annoyed.

Gratuitous Post #130!
