Hi everyone -  finally got a chance to make a report.  Both dogs have been sick for the past few days.  Leo (10mos) got a bottle of Advil the other night and consumed quite a few tablets and has been in the hospital since Thursday night.  Ben has been dealing with some intestinal stuff, started before the "drug bust" hit on Thursday night, and we're pretty sure he ate some also, but not as much as Leo.  So, I've been nursing Ben back to health.

Please keep us in your thoughts!

Sleeping Beauty was a mixed bag last night with some dancing, largely from the principals, being excellent, while a lot of the rest of it was too ragged. Also, the ballet company just couldn't afford the symphony, so they played a rather indifferent recorded version of the score that was tinny at times.

The musicians union tried to protest the production because the symphony wasn't employed. But it didn't make a dent.

I don't know if I mentioned this before, but my son, David, and his g.f. are currently vacationing in New Zealand.

She works for the airlines and also has family there, so that always makes these kinds of trips affordable.

I told David to bring me home a Hobbit.

Well, I will be out and about today.  My friend David (he and his wife moved to Seattle a few months ago) is in town for the day with nothing to do while his wife is at a baby shower, so we're going to hang out.  I need to be careful of what I eat, but otherwise I'm sure we'll have a fun day.

There was a scene in the BBC War & Peace in which Napoleon, while threatening one of his minions and planning his Russian campaign, takes snuff and sniffles through the scene.  All I could think of was the coked-up Donald Trump sniffling his lying way through the debates with Hillary.  I thoroughly understand Pierre's assassination plans.

Are places like doctor's offices generally open on Monday, President's Day?  I'm pretty sure they said there's no mail delivery or pick-up.

I used to have my ear canals vacuumed because I was getting allergy shots and it was a reaction to the toxicity of what they were injecting me with. The allergens are so high now as spring comes thundering in that I might have to have it done to one ear that has started to clog up.

Went to brunch with friends today. Had a brunch burger with fried eggs, pimento cheese and the best slab of tomato on top.

My friends had a crab omelet and braised short ribs Benedict. There was a side of handmade biscuits with sausage gravy that was perfect, loaded with sage and black pepper.

To get there, we had to go past the home where my friends Mickey and Glenn used to live. So, on the way back, Cecil decided to drive past their old place. The new owners were busy, it seems. From the road it looks like they've torn down the ranch house except for the fireplace and are building a two-story place with a rooftop patio. It also looks like they're putting in an 18-car garage where the fig tree and the garden used to be.

Donald Trump's idiot "campaign rally" (oy!) this weekend reminds me of that scene in "Soapdish" where Sally Field's insecure soap star needs to go to a New Jersey mall so her fans can see her and faun over her.

Well, I'm sure he thrilled his white trash supporters there.

It stopped and a message said that portion was lost to us, not in those words.  Remember when the old reels would break and interrupt the movie?  It was a jarring interruption as those were, only no one fixed it or went back.  Since this was shown in theaters across the country today we believe it happened at all the theaters.  Hmmm, I should google that.

Found a recipe today for something called Russian potatoes.

Take a baked potato and set it on lettuce. Cut the potato open and pour in vodka, mixing it up with the potato inside. "Pile 1 heaping tablespoon caviar, preferably Beluga, on top" of the potato. Sour cream can be added.

I'm ready.

I had two See's candy gift certificate things, so Kay and her ever-lovin' Michael and I met early had a burger at Five Guys, and then on our way back stopped into See's and I got a pound of dark chocolate nuts and chews and some butterscotch caramels as well as some white chocolate cashew brittle.  I've had these gift things for five years.

I'm sitting in the dark because I don't want the power on and away from the windows.

Tornado warning lifted. But it's suddenly a little too calm.

Well, I'm told the worst is past. Still, 45,000 here are without power and flash flood warnings are in effect for another hour as is the thunderstorm warning.

In honor of the 75th anniversary of the Japanese Internment camps we saw Allegiance today. http://allegiancemusical.com/#gd3lHhbulARPuK6z.97

Did anyone see it on Broadway?  I would have preferred that, especially the break in the show that caused us to miss something important and left us confused.

What do mean by a break in the show?

It stopped and a message said that portion was lost to us, not in those words.  Remember when the old reels would break and interrupt the movie?  It was a jarring interruption as those were, only no one fixed it or went back.  Since this was shown in theaters across the country today we believe it happened at all the theaters.  Hmmm, I should google that.

Understood. I thought that might be what you were talking about. Did they refund your money?

We didn't ask.  I doubt it was their fault.  We still do not know what happened in detail.   We kind of figured it out at the end.

I'm ready.

I'must sorry but YUCK  :D

I saw it on Broadway I quite enjoyed it.  I was especially interested as I had had the opportunity to hear George Takei speak about the internment camps several years ago

I read an interesting facts vs fiction this afternoon.  Many were silly things that didn't need changing.
