Well, you've read the notes, the notes were scatterbrained and rambled, and now it is time for you to post until the scatterbrained rambling cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DOX!
-
First post after BK!
-
Good morning (too early for me) to all

ASK BK DAY
With all of the auditions and callbacks you have been doing, I have gotten very confused. Not counting the Kritzerland show, how many plays or musicals are you currently working on? What are they, and when will they be produced?

Fourth post and third poster after BK, TCB, and Michael!

ASK BK
I can't remember if this was discussed but before you wrote Thrill Ride were you are of the "Bootstrap Paradox."?
In case DR Readers don't know what it is here is an example involving Albert Einstein
"An example of a bootstrap paradox involving information would be if a time traveler went back in time and taught Einstein the theory of relativity, before returning to his own time. Einstein claims it’s his own work, and over the following decades the theory is published countless times until a copy of it eventually ends up in the hands of the original time traveler who then takes it back to Einstein, begging the question “where did the theory originate”. We cannot say that it came from the time traveler as he learned it from Einstein, but we also cannot say that it is from Einstein, since he was taught it by the time traveler. Who, then, discovered the theory of relativity?"

Today would have been my mother's 101st birthday.
Happy Birthday, Gram!

That makes me think of the pocket watch paradox...where does the pocket watch come from in the movie "Somewhere in Time"?? Jane Seymour's character (as an old woman played by someone else) gives it to Christopher Reeve, who then goes back in time with it and leaves is behind for her to grow old and give it to him.
-
Good night, George.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
Thanks to vixmom for the birthday wishes (for yesterday's birthday) in last night's posts.
-
And also thanks to TCB for the belated birthday wishes. Does that mean I get to celebrate today, too?
-
vixmom - Thanks for that tip that it's "on Long Island" not "in Long Island" - very helpful, since the show I'm working on writing right now takes place "on Long island."
-
And I hadn't known there was a standard rule about that until you mentioned it.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I woke around 5:30 and spent an hour waffling on whether I should go back to slep or wake up. I finally got up. In an hour I will leave for my lab tests.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Yes, it is morning at the high school.
Fortunately, there aren't too many occasions on which I can say that.
-
ON which, not IN which.
-
At least I am not posting IN Long Island City ON Long Island. Right? Got that?
Please pay attention. There could be a pop quiz later.
-
Good morning, all.
-
So why is it "in Rhode Island" but "on Long Island"
-
My internet connection has been lousy. Cartagena was disappointing. I will try and return tonight.
-
Because L.I. is a geographical entity, not a municipality? Like Block Island? Maybe?
(I'm winging it, but I think that's more or less the idea.)
-
Home from the lab tests. I have a free day.
-
Thanks DR TCB.
I have a follow up appt. with my original NP today.

Script writing and call back vibes for MR BK.
-
My question for ASK BK DAY: Have you seen "The Lieutenant Wore Skirts"? I happened to watch it on FX RETRO on Monday.
It features Miss Leslie Parrish in a very nice small role as a party guest early in the proceedings. She looks beautiful in a blue dress and her hair is long....
Of course if this is the kind of script that Fox was offering Marilyn Monroe in the mid-50's, you really can't blame her for running off to New York. Sheree North and Tom Ewell can't do anything with it.....Rita Moreno plays a part as a "girl upstairs" and does a terrible Monroe impression....describing the movie "The Seven Year Itch" to Ewell who says: "I never saw that movie."
The comedy is played so frantically that is becomes UNFUNNY....I can't believe it's directed by Frank Tashlin.....
-
Thanks, FJL. I've now got Nancy Lamont's version of Rhode Island Is Famous for You spinning in my head.
Things could be worse.

Tom Ewell makes me gag.

2nd post by me on Page 2.
-
So why is it "in Rhode Island" but "on Long Island"
It may be because "Rhode Island" is a state inside of which people live in different cities and towns. "Long Island" is an island "in" New York on which people live. ??
-
For the moment I am back in.
DR Jrand, Best of Vibes for Monday, building up your protein and walking to make it more successful!

DR Jeanne, THE SNIFFER sounds funny. Aside from the interesting foreign aspect do you like it?

He had his fans. He was in the running for Dr Pangloss in the 1956 CANDIDE after Alfred Drake turned down the role and they hired Max Adrian.

DR vixmom: to answer your question--we 're taking the Long Island Railroad to Westbury and then a taxi or über to the Coliseum.
-
Re "in" vs "on" Long Island. I did think about writing "on" since I thought I had heard it that way in the past. For some reason I wrote "in."
-
Last night I met my friends from Greece and we saw "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." I enjoyed it. Christian Borle was very funny and the young boy (he's one of three) who played Charlie was very good. My friends were impressed to see "Mamacita" from "Feud" (Jackie Hoffman) on stage.
-
Wednesday morning greetings! I have given in to my sore throat/stuffy head/cough and made an appointment with the doctor for this afternoon. He usually treats me for allergies until on the second or third visit he finally prescribes an antibiotic. We'll see...

I think some of the songs on the London recording are quite good, but then again so were some of the songs in Catch Me If You Can, which didn't work as a show.

That's what the doctor always says, DR Jane, until I get sicker and sicker. I'm hoping this is just spring allergies.

While walking around the unexciting old castle area today we kept hearing a peacock. We finally found him. As soon as Keith began clicking the camera the peacock began posing for us 😀
Our favorite building in the town was an incredibly beautiful hotel.

If it's Wednesday, it must be my "real" day off. (and ask bk day) However, I'm off to play a funeral this morning and have a school rehearsal in the afternoon as well as back to the theatre this evening. So much for the "day off"

Joshie and my Guys & Dolls colleague Jason are going through the same ordeal. The pollen is really bad in the area at the moment.

So, I go to take my car out for the first time after my surgery, and the battery is dead. Had to buy a new one.
Bummer!

And the word of the day is: DOX!
With a slight play on words:
" A dox on all your spouses!!!"

ASK BK DAY
With all of the auditions and callbacks you have been doing, I have gotten very confused. Not counting the Kritzerland show, how many plays or musicals are you currently working on? What are they, and when will they be produced?
A new musical I'm directing at the El Portal - a county and western thing - begins rehearsals in about two and a half weeks - it's kind of a glorified workshop that plays two performances on June 10 and 11 - but a full production with sets, costumes, lighting, and an all Equity company.
Dial 'M' for Murder - goes into rehearsals in three weeks, at which point I do double duty for two weeks - days for the musical, nights for the play.
The Sherman Brothers musical - that's the one I'm typing and revising - that begins rehearsals around the end of the first week of October and opens the week before Thanksgiving.

I read up on all the theories, but didn't want to bore everyone by naming them all, so just chose those which are most often mentioned.

Yes, I had a print of it in the 70s - just doesn't work at all, sadly.

Every time I post a new reader review, we sell books - we jumped way up in the sales rank this morning: Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #180,693 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)
THAT is why I'm maniacal about having folks post their reviews. I know Vixmom will write hers, then hopefully whenever KevinH and TCB get around to finishing, they will too.
-
And elmore, too, who I think hasn't even picked it up :)
-
Back from the morning show (the last of those - yay!!) with some, er, merchandise from DONUT CRAZY (https://www.donutcrazyct.com/), my reward to myself for dropping someone off at the Westport train station.
-
Watching Sean Spicer now on CNN with his slides and projections about that notorious wall - his presentation almost feels like he's doing a reverse spoof of Melissa McCarthy doing her spoof of him.

DR George did you get a driver's license that will allow you to use as I.D when flying?
No, I didn't get the enhanced driver's license. I didn't think about it until just a few days ago, and I don't have all the required documents to get one (I have no idea where my birth certificate is). I could order a certified copy online but that would take too long, so I just went for the regular one. This new one will expire in three years. I'd heard (I don't know if this is true or not) that by next year, ALL Washington state driver's licenses will be enhanced, so when I need to renew in 2020, I'll get it then.
-
And for those who care, Disney's Newsies: The Broadway Musical (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y2JG4Y9/) will be available through Amazon Video (as a streaming video only). I don't know if it'll be available through Netflix or iTunes.
-
Congrats to DR GINNY on her new family member - and allergy begone vibes to her.
Thanks DR JANE - I'm trying...LOL
I know DR RLP - I feel the same way about him, although I guess he is least offensive to me in STATE FAIR....although pairing him with Alice Faye is another lopsided couple....but then I guess Phil Harris was no great looker himself....
-
I kind of gave up on "The Lieutenant, etc" when Tom was going to gaslight Sheree into getting a section 8 discharge from the Air Force.
My guess, and I haven't watched the ending yet - is that she is discharged when she becomes pregnant....it's the only cliche left.
-
Congrats to MR BK on the rise in numbers on AMAZON.
He is indeed right.....that movie should have worked.

Ask BK:
Which model Braun self-cleaning razor did you get? I had one (well, I still have the razor, but it's not long for this world) that I bought in 2002, and it lasted a good number of years but I forget when something on the cleaning station broke and I had to toss that part. I'm thinking it's time for another.

Hello, everyone.

Thanks DR TCB.
I have a follow up appt. with my original NP today.

Primary Care Physician?

DR Jeanne, THE SNIFFER sounds funny. Aside from the interesting foreign aspect do you like it?
I found the first episode interesting. I plan to watch more, but question how far they can carry this successfully.

Congrats to DR Ginny on her new great-niece!

LOL DR JEANNE - Nurse Practitioner.....I told him honestly that he saved my life, and he was a bit nonplussed.
If he hadn't ordered follow up blood tests and watched the results carefully then sent me to the emergency room, I would have just kept on going until I couldn't go anymore......

Well, I've done my time for the day, so I'm leaving work now. I feel like I'm supposed to do some shopping, but I have no idea what for. I hate it when that happens. :P

I was a bit scatterbrained myself this morning
-
I came downstairs this morning with two bags...one contained an item I wAnted to return to the store , the other contained the bathroom rubbish
-
I deposited one in the trash can and put the other in my car
-
Fortunately before I left my driveway I decided to check that the receipt was in the bag
-
And I rearranged the locations of those two bags
-
We have "banked" our July timeshare week and traded an earlier "banked" week for a week at our hone resort in September
-
I hate to wait an extra two months to see my girl again but she's likely to be working 12 hour days again in July so September seemed a better time
-
Back from callbacks - three of our five roles are now cast, and most importantly I have a GREAT Margot. But we haven't a Tony yet and we'll be putting the word out tonight for actors, and our Max is not quite set yet. IF he joins the theater group then I suppose he'll be it - but if he doesn't want to join then we'll be able to look at other actors. He's all right and I'm sure I can work with him to get him where he needs to be.

My friend, Carol, had to bank hers, too. She might have to have a knee replacement, which leaves it open as to when the unit can be used. She's dreaming of places, the latest of which is on a Greek isle, not as large as Crete but quite lovely. I don't really care where it is. I just want to get away.

Watched an oldie tonight, "Blossoms in the Dust" with Greer Garson. It was about the woman who fought successfully to have the label "illegitimate" removed from babies' birth certificates. It wasn't very good, but it was oddly affecting. And Garson, of course, was noble.
-
Starting to watch the new Masterpiece series, "To Walk Invisible: The Bronte Sisters." With the f-bomb dropped within the first five minutes, I don't think it'll be a stuffy costume drama along the lines of "Blossoms in the Dust."
-
But I must get to bed.

Good night, all.

Good evening.

DR Kerry had left instructions that my daughter and I were to visit his house and choose a few items to remember him by. We brought back a few paintings that he had done and a couple of art pieces. Plus a few books and some other small things. It made us sad to be there without him.

A coworker said that today was in the 70s, but tomorrow would be in the 50s. :-\ Maybe that's just here in Olympia.
-
We went to a place called Boathouse 19, which we have been to before.
-
I wished I liked that restaurant more than I do.

How do you decide where to go each time?
-
George, Steve Poole just said it will be 74 degrees tomorrow in Olympia.
-
But in the 50's again on Friday.

We rotate who gets to pick the restaurant.
-
So, I get to pick once every four weeks.

Ahh. Do any of you pick the same place each time or do you all try to pick different places?

There are three or four places that get picked on a regular basis, but we try to throw in a new place or an old standby every so often.

Sounds like fun!
-
Yes, it's nice.
-
So yesterday, I went to the dentist.
-
Tomorrow, I go to the eye doctor.
-
Each year, we get either new lenses and frames (up to a certain amount, or new lenses only...and every year, of course, we get the actual exam, too.
-
This year, I can get frames and lenses.
-
I do want to get new frames. The ones I'm wearing now, I actually got several years ago. Then the frames that I got after these broke and I needed to use these until I could get new frames without paying for them.
-
So...
-
...we'll...
-
...see...
-
...if...
-
...they...
-
...have any new frames that I would like. 8)
-
I wish I only had to go to the eye doctor once a year, but with my glaucoma I have to go every three months.
-
We'll see what they say when I tell them that I've been diagnosed with diabetes. ::)
-
Actually, I got an e-mail from them a couple of months ago, saying that I could scedule an appointment through the e-mail. I clicked on the link (it was a legitimate e-mail), and filled out the form, telling them of my diagnosis. I never heard back from them! I called a couple of weeks later and they said that they were closed the day before. ??? I sent the e-mail two weeks before that! Anyway, I did get it all scheduled and it's in the morning.
