Well, you've read the notes, the notes were merry, and now it is time for you to post until the merry cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CONCILIATE!
-
First post after BK!
-
A very...
...to all who celebrate it!
-
And if you don't celebrate it, just...
Have a Great Day! :D
-
Have a great day everyone.
-
Happy Holidays!
-
Merry Christmas, all!
-
The Do sounds like much fun and clearly much fun was had by all. Most excellent!
-
One of my former college directors now lives in New Zealand, and he sent me this wonderful version of the Nativity.

Annabelle, Thatch and I opened the one package I received. This was from DR Ginny, and it made them very happy to receive a Petco gift certificate. They have been on the computer checking out the Petco site and telling me what they want. Annabelle is not getting jewelry. She's vain enough.
Thank you, DR Ginny!
-
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate. And to those who don't -- a happy Monday!
-
There's this one, too, Elmore.

Christmas Morning greetings! I’m the only creature stirring so far...

You’re welcome, DR Elmore! Did they like the card?
-
The Goldstein family doesn't celebrate Christmas. So Wae-Ling is coming over to cook the turkey. Her favorite part is pulling the giblets out of the cavity. I told her I would pick her up at 7 a.m. so we could get started. Ugh.
-
I regretted the eggnog. It was so rich it gave me heartburn. I dumped most of it out.
-
My favorite part of Christmas is seeing and hearing the kids playing outside with the new toys. There's LOTS of kids staying overnight next door, so there should be lots of happy children noise today.
-
Off to pick up the chef. Shh. Her gift is the Hamilton CD.
-
Thatch, Annabelle, and I opened all the Christmas cards I received. They were delighted that so many of my friends wished them a happy holiday and that a few of the cards had kitties in their art.
-
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate the holiday!
-
I regretted the eggnog. It was so rich it gave me heartburn. I dumped most of it out.
DR Laura, you should have frozen it and served it with pie.
BTW, the video is adorable.
-
Thanks to Jeanne and to Jrand for your posts last night!
-
DR Ginny, I loved the card. They were more excited about the treats in the box. And the gift certificate.
-
Wonderful hearing how great the BK do went!
-
DR Ginny, I loved the card. They were more excited about the treats in the box. And the gift certificate.
The treats were contributed by my friend Rebecca, who got them as a Kroger weekly reward. She thought I’d give them to Allie, but Mary Linda has her on a diet.
I hope Annabelle and Thatch find something fun at PETCO!
-
Good morning, all.
-
And a very Merry Christmas to all who partake!
-
Woke to a snowy wonderland here.
Only an inch, thankfully. But everything, every tree branch, etc., is covered.
-
The cats are patiently waiting for all the humans to get up to speed and start opening their presents for them.
-
There’s one in particular, though, that I want to see them tear into themselves.
-
It’s a toy assembled from mink and sable (yes, you read that right: mink and sable) with fresh catnip sewn in, from a friend who is very talented at making things like this by repurposing other old things. I guess I should take some photographic evidence of it before they get to it.
-
So, the feline contingent awaits that fun, while I await the preparation of the fresh cinnamon rolls and bacon.
-
Pictures of the Do are great. More, if you got ‘em!
-
Merry Christmas!
-
We have a fresh coating of snow. It looks beautiful but we're not looking forward to driving to my nephew's house. Winds of 45 mph are expected.
-
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas, DR KevinH!
-
Thatch is starting to play with me, so it's really a Christmas miracle. He is conflicted about being held, but he loves to strut around my computer chair and rub against my legs so I will reach down and pet him. This morning, he's been lying on my feet and rolling onto his back so I'll rub his tummy.
-
I just took my bath, and it's weird to be sitting in the tub to look over and see two kitty heads staring at you over the toilet
-
They are voyeurs.....
-
Merry Christmas to all my friends here at HHW!!!
-
I loved reading about the DO and all the guests....and the photos were lovely. I want that Capitol Records sweater....a couple of sizes larger.
-
I didn't do much yesterday OR have much planned for today, so I shall enjoy reading about everyone's Doings.
-
I loved the videos!!!
And of course there is the scandalous assertion that Mary was a mensch and nagger.........
She rode Joseph's ass all the way to Bethlehem......
-
Bruce's Christmas Do was very fun. His new house is beautiful!! The first thing I noticed was how well-lit it was - much brighter than the old house with lots of recessed lighting in the family room and living room. And, of course, everything is so new and perfect. After Bruce complained that everyone was congregating in one room, and not flowing into the family room, someone stood up and said, "I'm going into this other room to be by myself" just to make Bruce happy. It was pretty funny, but as Bruce said, eventually enough people showed up to necessitate splitting off into the other room. Doug Haverty kept telling people, "I made the coconut cake with FOUR eggs, so it's practically a protein source and good for you." There were so many other desserts, I didn't try any, but I'm sure it was delicious. Mark has difficulty finding desserts he's not allergic to, but there was a lemon bunt cake that was very lemony and he enjoyed that very much. Prisca Kim brought Korean pears that were the size of grapefruits! I always put the peanut butter pie in the fridge because it's best served cold, but then I always forget about it. By the time I brought it out, I think everyone was full...oops! Hearing Richard Sherman play piano was very fun. He played a medley of songs from Merry Poppins, but then started over and was repeating Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious - we all looked at his wife, Elizabeth, and she just shrugged, but then Richard looked up at her and said, "Oh, did I already do that one?" We all laughed, and he went on to play "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang". Everyone was singing along to all the songs, which made the whole thing that much more festive. It was a very successful Do indeed.

Thanks for those details, Amy. Loving all the "Do" information!

Our Christmas Day is unfolding very quietly, just as planned. Rob and Mary Linda went to church and should be back soon. We’ll spend the afternoon opening presents, some by their tree and some by ours. I have a pork tenderloin in the crockpot with a cranberry spice glaze that we’ll have for dinner around 6 or so.
-
Good morning, all.
-
The Benedryl gave me fairly uninterrupted sleep, which was a glorious gift.

Sounds even better than Egg nog!
-
Merry Christmas!
-
I'm up, I'm up - Merry Christmas! I had to go do a quick errand and was surprised there were any cars on the street - it wasn't terrible but does no one stay home on Christmas morning anymore?
-
I regretted the eggnog. It was so rich it gave me heartburn. I dumped most of it out.
There are two ways this could be taken.

In my book, it was.

Laura, you could have made egg nog French toast.

I only remember one Christmas of assembling toys. This Christmas morning, I assembled my new telescope. And both it and I are still standing.
-
It is snowing again, so we officially have a White Christmas!!

All gifts are wrapped and bagged to go to my sister's house.

One more post.

I made the shrimp dip last evening. I hope I don't forget to take it.
-
I had wanted to make parsnip pie today, but I honestly don't feel I have the energy. Maybe in an hour or two.
-
I am heading up to 86th Street.
-
Today is also my mother's 86th birthday. Here she is holding some random urchin.

Thanks to DR AMY for the expanded DO REPORT.
-
Back to Pocketful of Miracles. I love the scenes between Peter Falk and Edward Everett Horton.
-
We haz slowed to a crawl.....
-
Random urchins. I think there's an unguent that'll take care of that.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Merry Christmas to all!
May you have a lovely day.
If you wish to opt out, you may do so at the bottom of this notice.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to MOM of JRAND!
-
I had wanted to make parsnip pie today, but I honestly don't feel I have the energy. Maybe in an hour or two.
I don't think I've ever heard of a parsnip pie. Is it sweet or is it savory? Almost a meal by itself?
-
I'm up, I'm up - Merry Christmas! I had to go do a quick errand and was surprised there were any cars on the street - it wasn't terrible but does no one stay home on Christmas morning anymore?
I think Christmas breakfast is quite popular, so people drive either to a restaurant or to family.
-
I only remember one Christmas of assembling toys. This Christmas morning, I assembled my new telescope. And both it and I are still standing.
That was quite a nice gift.
-
Maybe it's covered by Medicare.
-
I usually do laundry on Monday mornings and today was no exception. I had a few other little things to do, too, but now I am off for the day.
-
Maybe it's covered by Medicare.
the telescope?
-
How are you feeling, Jack? No nasty viruses lurking?

Heather Menzies Urich has passed away.....she played Louisa in the film version of The Sound of Music....and was Robert Urich's widow....
This is shock. She was very active on FaceBook and posted daily about her life.....I guess she was diagnosed with brain cancer only last month......
-
I'm getting hungry. I guess a little lunch is in order.

So far so good DR JEANNE.
-
I am home from a tasty brunch and delightful companions. The main courses were a baked French toast casserole made with bread, eggs, cream cheese, peaches, blueberries, and lots of cinnamon and a spicy Mexican baked egg casserole with bits of sweet potato, taco chips, and other interesting items.
-
Annabelle and Thatch were delighted to see me home and more delighted to be fed. Thatch is being coy and avoiding me, while Annabelle is focused on getting into the hall. Fat chance tonight, Missy.
-
DR JRand67, please give your mother my birthday felicitations.
-
Merry Christmas!
-
I will do so DR ELMORE.
Brunch looks as if it were much fun!!!!
-
Merry Birthday to DR JRand’s Mom!
-
puppykittynyc presents Mr Mustard as their Christmas mascot.
-
Our Christmas dinner came together nicely - my cranberry pork roast, wild rice, and green Jello salad along with Mary Linda’s Brussels sprouts sautéed with bacon and rosemary (from their garden). The kids are now Skyping with her family in Michigan and we’ll have dessert later. I made a gluten-free pumpkin cobbler from a recipe from my friend Lynne. She served it at book group last month.
-
Happy birthday to Jrand's Mom!

Do you have a laser pointer, Elmore? I haven't heard you mention one.
-
We had a nice quiet holiday. After Wae-Ling and I got the turkey into the oven, we watched Scrooge the Musical.
-
Sandra always gets me some M&Ms (my favorite) and some Keurig fancy pods. This year she also added a portable dvd player. Ever since they upgraded the computers to Windows 10, my speakers haven't worked. And for some reason, my laptop won't play any cds or dvds. So now I can watch some dvds.
-
My son and dil gave me a stuffed kitty with an envelope on the collar. It included a gift certificate for a cat or kitten needing to come home from the pound.

Gratuitous Post #100!

Page five? Really?

Darling Daughter and I had a wonderful three-hour visit, which I'll talk more about in the notes.
-
Then it was the Christmas dinner with Barry Pearl - twelve of us in all at Buca di Peppo or something like that. It was JAMMED. I couldn't believe it. I guess cozy Christmases at home are a thing of the past. Anyway, second time eating at this chain and I am simply not a fan. The Caesar was good, but everything else was blah - family style so Barry ordered everything, but nothing is above average.
-
Oh, my, George! You've lost QUITE a lot of weight! Are you now at your weight goal? In any case, a BIG CONGRATS!!
-
It was nice to see photos of your sister and niece, too.
-
Oh, my, George! You've lost QUITE a lot of weight! Are you now at your weight goal? In any case, a BIG CONGRATS!!
Thanks, Jeanne! I don't have a specific goal. I would like to lose some more (down 90 pounds so far), but I've plateaued for the last several months and haven't gotten any lower. :-\

Not many restaurants are open Christmas Day, so those that are are often packed. Too bad you didn't enjoy your meal more.

I suppose I should actually start some kind of exercise. ::)

People always get frustrated when they plateau, but I'm convinced it's quite a healthy thing. The body wants to maintain homeostasis. It's settling in, getting used to the new normal. I wouldn't push it, just continue to eat healthy food and less than you used to.
-
I suppose I should actually start some kind of exercise. ::)

Yes, walking would be a good start. Do any of your family members walk regularly?
-
Bruce, I'm glad you were able to visit with your daughter.
-
puppykittynyc presents Mr Mustard as their Christmas mascot.
I'll take him!

I am stuffed!

Tomorrow I must wait around all day for the gas company guy to show up. I have lots to do here--I just prefer my freedom.

Good night.

I only remember one Christmas of assembling toys. This Christmas morning, I assembled my new telescope. And both it and I are still standing.
That was quite a nice gift.
It was my fifth anniversary gift from USAA. I hadn’t had to assemble it. And tonight it’s clouded over.

I think my niece does, but I actually moved to this condo 11 years ago so that I could walk to work...it's only about a mile from where I work, but I've rarely walked. Someday, I'll get my butt in gear!
-
A very full Christmas Day with lobster soup (a Julia Child recipe), grilled lamb and veggies.
I made a parsnip pie. Promising but under seasoned. And for dessert, goat cheese with roasted garlic on homemade bread. French and Spanish wines. Delish.
-
Here are me, my niece, and my sister, all in our funky sweaters!
Nice photo despite the sweaters.
Thanks, John! ;)

Started to watch a droll Sasha Guidry comedy called La Poison. But I haven’t the stamina to make it much further tonight.
-
Good night, all. Merry Christmas dreams.
-
Good night, John.
-
Nice photos DR GEORGE - and yes you look very svelte!
I hope to stay DOWN to my fighting weight as well.....have to stop eating NOW!
-
I have eaten at Beppo de Buca or whatever once.....it wasn't my favorite.
-
It's supposed to be very COLD tonight.....down to about 10 degrees. I may wear a hat to bed.

Thanks, Jrand! And good luck to you!

6!!

Page six? Really?

Watched more of Wonder Woman - thank goodness they're off the island - I have never seen so many cliched directorial "touches" - literally borrowed from every movie of the last twenty years. But it looks like there might actually be some fun coming up. That said, as soon as Chris Pine was revealing who he was on the island and said "intel" you know just how bankrupt the screenwriters are - not to mention lazy. They are in WW 1 and the first known use of the word "intel" was in the 1960s. Oops. It took just ten seconds to find that out - but apparently with today's Screenwriting 101 people ten seconds is too much to have to concentrate.

Merry Christmas!

I guess I can still say that for a few more minutes.
-
I am late arriving here this evening.
-
I forgot to charge my iPad today, so I had to plug in my old iPad.
-
Also, I used my wheelchair today, and I ended up screwing up my back lifting it out of my trunk.
-
I am in serious pain tonight.

I need to catch up on today's posts.

When I first quoted you in post #165, your "Feel better vibes" was in black print instead of red. For some reason your color=red had added a "v" after red. That was an easy fix, but the missing photo puzzles me, especially since you were able to copy it.
