Well, you've read the notes, the notes were very merry, and now it is time for you to post until the very merry cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: AFTERGLOW!
-
First post after BK!
-
First post after TCB!
-
BK, that was a great picture of you and David Cassidy! Amazing!
-
T.O.D.
SUPERMAN VS. THE MOLE MEN
SUPERMAN (Christopher Reeve)
IRONMAN - Does that count?
-
My mother's first cruise to Mexico was on the T.S.S. Fairsea.
-
I've never been on a cruise.
-
I've never been on a cruise.
You might enjoy it, or you might hate it. Personally, I love them.
-
Good night, George.
-
Good night, BK.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
First post in the actual morning!
-
BK, that was a great picture of you and David Cassidy! Amazing!
A terrific photo! So great that Amy realized she had it!
-
Good morning, all.
-
That photo is astounding.
-
Good morning.
-
Wae-Ling was happy with her Hamilton CD. But I think she was hoping for a ticket.
-
And here we are — we’re officially in the deep freeze for as far out as the weather forecasts go. Every night’s low is in the single digits or teens, and I don’t see daytime temperatures exceeding the high twenties.
-
I've been looking at Hamilton tickets. After several minutes of searching, I found orchestra seats, not nearly as good as mine, on a Wednesday night for over $1200 each.
-
Hello to everyone.
-
Boy, it must be some show!

Movie of the day

-
Good morning, all!
-
The babies are fed and now watching the birds. I am coming down with a cold. My head is stopped up and my throat is fuzzy. I am not happy with this.
-
Annabelle is going to the vet this afternoon. I want to ascertain her conjunctivitis and upper respiratory infection are over.
-
Boy, it must be some show!
Yes, it really is some show! And so is the current "Hello Dolly" revival.
But even at $170 regular price, which I got during Broadway previews, it was a good amount of cash for my wallet's taste.
I can't really understand where all this 21st-century appetite to spend that kind of money is coming from. But as keeps getting pointed out to me, people have been spending that level of $$$ for hot concerts for decades, and theatre may just be catching up.
-
Good morning, all. Happy Boxing Day!
-
"I beg your pardon. Aren't you Guy Haines?""

Welcome home, Ron.
-
Two!
-
Ron!
My only regret about your retiring and moving home is that we no longer get your Christmas vacation updates.
-
Feel better vibes for DR TCB!!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Wae-Ling was happy with her Hamilton CD. But I think she was hoping for a ticket.
I thought you were giving her one of your tickets?

I'm on my second cuppa coffee. I've noticed that Thatch's fear is two hands that can possibly grab him. As long as I only use one hand to pet him while he rubs against my leg, he's in heaven. If he senses two hands approaching him, he panics and runs under the bed,
-
I have to make the bed, empty the litter, put their toys away, and vacuum. I've got Me and My Girl waiting on me, and I want to leave here no later than 2:15 for Annabelle's appointment.
-
Sp nice to see Ron here!
-
Very cold here - and of course the car didn't start. I will wait and try again this afternoon.
-
Nice notes......I live far away from many homes that I have lived in, but I can drive by THREE of them....they look pretty much the same...but I don't.
-
TOD:
Recent movies:
Captain America - I think there are three in the series out now.
Iron Man - There are two or three of them as well.
-
I "so" do not want to go out there today. But at some point I must spend some time (hopefully no more than, say, fifteen minutes?) with the snow shovel, cleaning up some edges where the plow (bless that man) went by yesterday. And I must take the trash and recycling cans down to the road for their crack of dawn pickup tomorrow.
-
I seem to have found one decent copy of THE CRUCIBLE vocal score for $50. Ridiculous, but it beats the $150-$300 ones. As I consider pulling the trigger, I wonder why I haven't gotten lucky with this one at, say, a library sale, like I have with the likes of DESTRY RIDES AGAIN? Huh? Why? I ask you.
Edit: I will get lucky, silly. At next summer's sales, providing I buy this one.
-
T.O.D.
Once I grew up, I never really cared much for superhero movies.
-
If I can find a copy at RedBox, we'll probably watch DUNKIRK tonight.
Those men were "superheroes".
-
We watched DE-LOVELY the other night.
Always loved that film.
-
I finished the first draft of Act I of my new one-person play.
On to Act II.
-
Hi. I don’t know how long I will be connected.
I am trying to read the posts but I do
-
not dare quoting them
-
I’m tired. Wish I weren’t working today.
-
I saw one photo shared for me by DR George. Thanks.
-
I hope someone will share the photo of our beautiful dining car.
-
And how was the food in the beautiful dining car?
-
DR Laura, when do you plan to go kitty adoption?
-
Thatch's eyes are looking so much better. No gunky drainage sealing them shut and the pinkness is going away. His oral medication Azithromycin had its fifth day, so he has three days off of it, then a day of medicine, then three days off, and the last dose. I'm going to ask Dr Mohr today to refill his Terramycin. I want to be sure we've knocked the conjunctivitis out of him. I'm hoping Annabelle gets an all-clear, since it's time these babies were healthy.
-
I've done my meds for the next two weeks and taken an extra dose of vitamin C for good measure/
-
I need some Dayquil.
-
Tuesday morning greetings! Fr. Richard has been to Dayton and back to deliver the sermon at this morning's "Feast of Stephen" sermon at Christ the King. I have washed, dried, and put away the crystal stemware we used for Christmas dinner and done all the other hand dishwashing. Our kitchen looks much better after several days of messing it up with baking and such.

The photos on the cruise ship were taken by famous rock photographer, Henry Diltz. He's shot many wonderful images of so many iconic rock and roll legends, like Jackson Browne, The Doors, Crosby Stills and Nash, Jim Hendrix, Dan Fogelberg, Joni Mitchell, etc. etc. But what many people don't know is that he followed David Cassidy around on two world tours, so he actually has more images of him than anyone else. Although he probably sells less images of David than anyone else. Anyway, he also shot thousands of photos of The Monkees because he was on the set of the TV show shooting about 10 rolls a day for two years. But his contract was written so that he didn't get to keep most his own negatives from those photo shoots. I doubt any photographer would sign a contract like that today.

TOD:
I love superhero movies! Those are the only movies Mark and I see in actual theaters. And I always make sure they're in 3-D, otherwise I figure I'll just watch it at home on cable TV in three years. The "Justice League" movie was widely panned, but I enjoyed it. The problem is that they haven't made any movies of some of those characters like the Flash and Aquaman, so we weren't familiar with them, so the movie had to introduce them in a hurry. I don't know why the industry has made so many Superman, Batman, and Spiderman movies, but they neglected so many other characters.
It's hard to pick a favorite. I agree with Jrand67 that the Captain America and Ironman movies were very good. I also enjoyed Batman with Val Kilmer, and Spiderman with Tobey Maguire. I couldn't stand Christian Bale as Batman, but I did like the "Batman Begins" movie very much. As a kid, I loved the first Superman movie with Christopher Reeves and saw it in the theater probably three times. I also like Henry Cavill as Superman.
-
Mr. Postman just delivered a couple of final packages related to the Indiegogo. Good times, man. Great stuff.
-

This is such great news. The eye stuff is so hard to get rid of. We never did eradicate Poe's little kitty virus gunk that reappears in his right eye every few months. (Fortunately, it's nothing severe.) The vet had warned us that sometimes those things stick around and make themselves known occasionally, but maybe we could have worked it better and longer and conquered it back then.
-
Henry Diltz taking them makes sense - I posted here a Polaroid I took when everyone was boarding the ship and he's in the background of one of those shots. I sent it to him on Facebook but he never responded. But that doesn't answer the question of how Amy got them - from Henry personally?
-
Oh, and I'm up - maybe six hours of sleep.
-
Wae-Ling was happy with her Hamilton CD. But I think she was hoping for a ticket.
I thought you were giving her one of your tickets?
I am. I am giving her the ticket as a thank you for all the hard work she does in these projects I do. She's a good worker. She will get it after the first week of January.
I was just interested to see what the tickets are going for.
-
I did my first Fitbit walk for a couple of weeks -- since I got that nasty virus that is circulating. Don't laugh at me -- I walked the mall, since I am still recovering.

A couple of questions I was asked and forgot to answer.
The crawdads on the Christmas tree were cookies. I made them as a joke. They are tasty cookies.
Re adopting a cat: amazingly, it looks like most of the cats at the pound were adopted before Christmas. Also, my DH didn't look too thrilled when he saw the certificate.
-
Very interesting DR AMY. Thanks for sharing the information.
-
Forty five minutes after I placed my order at Papa John's, they are finally baking my pizza. They must be BUSY today.
-
I liked the Christopher Reeve SUPERMAN with a couple of BIG exceptions....
The Krypton section of the movie was ridiculous....even with Marlon Brando as Jor-el. The design was atrocious.....
AND in the end....Superman flew around the world quickly so that he could reverse time and save Lois.....not a word was said about how such traveling back in time affected ANYONE else in the world.....and you know it would have.
-
DR JANE I shared a dining car photo for you yesterday....
-
Here's another.

Got DUNKIRK for tonight.
:)

I posted the following on FB a couple of hours ago.
Somebody suggested that it was one of the 3 Red Skelton WHISTLING movies, but another said it wasn't.
Not being a Skelton fan, I have not seen them.
I saw this film over 70 years ago. Would like to know what it is before I go. (Don't worry. I'm not planning to leave anytime soon.)
Anybody?
Here is a movie question that can probably only be answered by somebody who has seen every movie that's ever been made. 😉
Back when I was very young in the mid-1940s, I saw a movie with a final (or near final) scene that I've never forgotten.
As I recall, there were a couple of people, the bad guys, locked in the basement of a house and they were drowning because the basement was filling with water. (No, I don't think it was a ship. It was a basement.)
Any ideas as to what this film might be?

Annabelle's chronic sneezing concerns Dr Mohr, so she is now on Azithromycin, and we'll see if it works. She weighs 8 lbs, and her conjunctivitis is all cleared up.
-

O.M.G.!! :o Good for you for not paying $1200 a ticket!

Good news about the conjunctivitis, at least!

Nice notes......I live far away from many homes that I have lived in, but I can drive by THREE of them....they look pretty much the same...but I don't.
Other than the places I lived in Bellingham while going to college, I can easily drive to all the places that I've lived while living in the Olympia/Lacey/Tumwater area. One place is right down the street from where I live now. Another is right next door to where my sister lives now (she used to own that house before she had built the house she's living in now). And the other is my parents' house, where they've been living for 41 years. I haven't been to the other two places in quite a while, but they're close to places that I go on a fairly regular basis, so I just might see what they're like now.

Very nice!
-
Jane, I showed my sister the picture of the elephants and she was so jealous! She also thought that it was so cool that you got to go and you're actually there! :D
-
The flamingos picture was the one that really got to me.

Hello from frigid West Seneca, NY! It's currently 10 degrees. Not sure what the wind chill factor is.
-
Yesterday, DR Catherine, her husband and I were on our way to their son's house. His wife called to say there were white outs in that area so driving was very hazardous. We turned around. It was disappointing but better safe than sorry.
-
Later we watched Forget-Me-Not Lane, which I had bought when it was recently discussed on HHW.
-
We enjoyed it, especially BK's performance. Great accent, Bruce! DR Catherine also said to mention how cute you were!
-

Oy! I read that as "there were white cats in that area."
-
I am feeling worse. some soup, some vitamin C, and bed.
-
Glad to hear that Annabelle and Thatch are doing better, DR Elmore. Hope her sneezing stops.

DR Laura, K9Kastle, the rescue group from whom I adopted Annabelle, posted today that that were happy to see little Horace adopted just before Christmas. I think he would have been so happy with you.
-
Nice photo, BK!

Shows how my mind's running these days!

White cats can be dangerous. Ask Siegfried and Roy.

I just picked up Thatch to hold him, and after a couple of minutes he got restless so I set him back in the cat tree. As soon as I set him down, he jumped out of it and ran to rub against my legs. How the fat hell could I have ever decided to get rid of him last week?

~~~Feel Better Vibes for Larry!!~~~
-
Feel better, Elmore. I'm pretty sure you didn't catch the crud from me. If you lived near me, I'd be worried about that.
-
Horace is adorable. I'm glad he got a home.
-
Well, a lunchtime taco party has developed at our house for tomorrow. Great nephew J, his parents, and grandma are coming at 1, which gives us a couple of hours to visit before Rob has to leave for work.
-
How cute I WAS?
-
Back from a long and fun lunch with a fellow director out here visiting from NY. We were going to meet at the Eclectic Cafe. I arrived only to find out they have done away with their lunch hours and are only open in the evening. Boo on them. So, I walked up to the Federal and we met there for our three-hour lunch. I had their excellent mac-and-cheese, and thankfully it was a very reasonable portion. The new helper has come and gone and will now ship out the sale invoices so that's completely up to date..
-
Am now awaiting the arrival of Alby Potts for our work session, which really should only take an hour.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
FEEL-BETTER-PRONTO VIBES for Larry!
-
Great photos from Jane and Keith's trip.
-
Health vibes to all the humans and kitties. Canines, too, if needed.
-
The guy from the gas company arrived relatively early, which I appreciated. He checked out the heater and stove. The heater's fine, but the oven isn't working and they can't fix it. He found something else wrong and took care of that. I'll pass on the information to the manager. It's been in the forties here at night, so I do need heat and am glad to have a periodic safety check.
-
I've never been a fan of superhero movies, but I do like the RIVERS OF LONDON series of novels. (There are a couple graphic novels in the series, too, but I haven't read them.) I don't usually read that genre, but I like this series.
-
Laura, thanks for the information on the crawdad cookies. I thought they were cute and fun.
-
Just received from Amazon: a gently used copy of Michelle Nicastro's Reel Imagination: Classic Songs from Family Films (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000014V3). I'm listening to it now and it's just delightful...which is not a surprise. ;D
-
Also received today were three limited edition CDs from Screen Archives: Doctor Dolittle Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Expanded Soundtrack (http://www.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/34861/DOCTOR-DOLITTLE-2-CD-3000-EDITION/), David Shire's unused score to Apocalypse Now (http://www1.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/34862/APOCALYPSE-NOW-THE-UNUSED-SCORE-2000-EDITION/), and the limited edition 40th anniversary remastered soundtrack to Close Encounters of the Third Kind (http://www1.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/34860/CLOSE-ENCOUNTERS-OF-THE-THIRD-KIND-40TH-ANNIVERSARY-REMASTERED-2-CD-5000-EDITION/).
And you could sell your tickets and buy a <new car/house/vacation> with the money. Of course, Wae-Ling would be very unhappy.
-
Page four? Really?
-
I can't even imagine paying $1200 for a ticket to any show.
-
Good to see DR Ron here today! Drop in more often, Ron.
-
I hope TCB is feeling better.
-
We all go a little mad sometimes...
-
Oh my god, that little Horace!
-
Good to see DR Ron Pulliam back (for one brief shining moment) this morning.
-
Had a fun and productive work session.
-
I'm now leaving work. I stayed longer than I should've, but it's all good.
Be back later.
-
Ushered for Shen Yun tonight. Third or fourth time. I sat in for about 20 minutes and had no patience for it.
-
Back to La Poison, which has a minor plot point that could have inspired Anyone Can Whistle.
Yes, Mark and I bought a number of photos of David Cassidy from Henry personally. And we kept running into each other at various concerts for a while, but I haven't seen him in probably seven or eight years now.
-
As it turns out, I'd only PMd him telling him I had something to show him - I'm guessing that PM went into that other weird folder so he never saw it - today I sent a friend request.
-
Today I had another interesting phone call. However I have been forbidden to disclose the subject matter until Monday
It's going to be a long week
I just watched yesterday's Doctor Who Christmas Special where Peter Capaldi's 12th doctor regenerates into Jodie Whittaker’s 13th Doctor. She's only on for a minute or two and won't be back until the regular season starts in the new year.
I have been trying to sign on for the hour.
I don’t know what is wrong it’s my iPad.
If I suddenly disappear it means I have been kicked out again.
Or I have run out of things to say.
Yeah, like that would ever happen.
Hi, George.
-
Whoops, no I guess he left.
-
Anyway, I just wanted to check in and say, “Happy Tuesday.”
-
Good night.
