Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in rare form, and now it is time for you to post until the rare cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EXPERGEFACTION!
-
First post after BK!

Here is a Great American Dance Machine special recreating all kinds of brilliant choreography - pay special attention to the first number by Joe Layton, one of my all-time favorites, although as nice as Wayne Cilento is, this number was designed specifically for my pal Gene Castle and his was one of the greatest dancing performances I've ever seen. The other stuff is fun, but at around the forty-minute mark you'll get to the clog and grog dance from Walking Happy - Danny Daniels. Watch the inventiveness of this number - it's breathtaking and very funny at times - just brilliant and no one today has any idea how to do anything like it.

Danny Daniels also did the choreography for the opening number (Anything Goes) in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. And he did the great number done on the Tonys from The Tap Dance Kid - watch it and marvel.

I think that this has been posted before, but it's still great!

That's just so much fun!
-
Well, I need to go to bed now. I'm getting up early to take my car in for servicing, and I want to get some sleep.
Have a good day, all!
-
I loved it!
-
Still awake at twenty minutes to four a.m.
-
Terrible leg cramps and the muscle-relaxers aren’t doing the job.
-
Gotta go to the office...I do you think I can call in sleepy
-
Good morning, all.

I loved this when it originally aired. Can’t wait to find the time to watch it.
-
My favorite parts of the Oscars was James Ivory’s win and having Edi show up.
-
Good morning, all!
-
In 1998, the Gay Mem's Health Crisis produced my Cole Porter reconstruction Jubilee, directed by Herb Ross, a horrid queen, and choreographed by Danny Daniels, who was such a kind gentleman. I have his phone number in my address book. I always wanted to call him, just to chat, but I feared I'd sound like nothing more than a gushing fan, so I never did.
-
Good morning!
-
I am still up, I am still awake, and I am pretty much pissed as Hell by the whole situation.
-
Today, after I tidy up, I have to hit the bank and post a few bills. Then I'm back to Me and My Girl.
-
I am still up, I am still awake, and I am pretty much pissed as Hell by the whole situation.
I'm so sorry, DR TCB.
-
Thank you. I don’t know what I did to deserve this situation.
-
I am staying in bed, just so Nicky can get some rest.
-
My favorite parts of the Oscars were Allison Janney winning, and James Ivory winning. I, also really liked both of their acceptance speeches.
-
Well, back to trying to sleep.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Monday!
-
At some point today I must needs go food shopping.
-
TOD
Favorite moment: Eva Marie Saint, tops. 93, and not looking, acting, or sounding a day over [fill in your favorite youthful age here]. Completely stunning. (Had to ketchup with this one on the web after everything was over.)
Edit: Want to ketchup with Agnes Varda today, too.
Worst: the couple of songs I saw. And heard. Horrible.
-
I thought the Oscar show was rather boring...as usual.
I was looking for a possible major surprise (i.e. upset) in the Best Picture category, but that didn't happen.
Not that they didn't deserve it, but all the winners were predictable.
-
Must work on music today.
Tomorrow, if all goes according to plan, a visit to Her Grace and Thatch! Oh yeah, and DR Elmore! :)
Wednesday, the second nor’easter in one week? What???
-
I’ve got some photographic evidence to post from yesterday, which I will get done a bit later
-
Good morning to all
-
Low point: The jet ski
-
Would have liked to see more past Oscar winners present with younger actors.
-

Wednesday, the second nor’easter in one week? What???
"Her Grace and Thatch" - sounds like a sitcom title from days of yore (anyone else remember the charming short-lived "The Governor and J.J." - the Dan Dailey comedy series, about a Governor whose daughter J.J. functioned as his "first lady" of the state.)
-
A lot of flat comedy shtick last night among the good moments, but I guess they never know what will work until the do it, like on Jimmy Kimmel's late night show. (I'd never have guessed while watching the star-audience selfie a few years back that it was anything but a time-waster, and it paid off in the days after that year's Oscar show, it seems.)
Shortening the speeches to have time for some of the bits feels like a shame, in some cases (not all).
-
Monday morning greetings! Busy week for me - daytime ladies' meetings today and tomorrow, current events discussion Thursday evening, and art class in the Dayton 'burbs Friday morning.
-
When I opened the apartment door to take the litter to the trash and let Annabelle patrol the building, I was surprised and pissed to find that someone had left a Zabar's bag filled with garbage hanging on the doorknob. I hae my suspicions.
-
It was funny when the guy from GET OUT came on stage, shouting "Get out!"
I got the impression that nobody told him when he should get off.
-
On my way to the mailbox, I passed Val in the lobby. He says the elevator inspection is at noon.
-
Rehearsal and NO MERDE vibes for MR BK.
-
Last night's Oscar Partay at HHW was most excellent....I enjoyed it....but my typing fingers are sore.
-
Love the Danny Daniels videos!
-
TOD:
Favorite: Eva Marie Saint & Rita Moreno....Maya Rudolph and I forget who her partner in crime was...two funny ladies with some good material, the montages, and James Ivory.
And seeing DR EDI back for an evening.
Least favorite: The songs, the BA winner.....
-
MR BK I heartily recommend you try out an HDTV Antenna....some are flat, some look like rabbit ears.....and other shapes.
You can get ALL local broadcast channels.....and the picture is good.
Easy to install - just plug it into the cable outlet on the back of your tv. We have it on THREE tv's at our house....two are on cable....and it's fine for local viewing.
-

One of the better bits, but I guess they planned an exit when the camera was off him; but I'll have to look again- did the camera ever get off him?

I remember the show. I always liked Julie Sommars and enjoyed the chemistry between them.

I liked The Governor and JJ as well....all of the folks were good.
-
And I'm at work. I made it to the car shop and they're going to fix the dashboard light and temperature gauge...for about $370.00. But it'll be working again.
-
And since we're so close...
-
three!!!
-
Elmore, there’s a new children’s horror book coming out called The Merry Spinster by Mallory Ortberg. Twisted takes on classic tales, including King Lear. Might be fun.

Yep. I was not amused and I think it was my asshole neighbor who caused trouble last year when the elevator was down for a couple of weeks.

I just ordered it! Thanks for the tip. I hope it's as good as this:

It is bizarre he, or anyone, would do that. Did you put it back on his door ;)

I'm up, I'm up - seven and a half hours of sleep.

Excellent vibes and xylophones to all who need them.

And you know what about Eva Marie Saint? No facial work - ever.

No. I do not know if he is responsible.
-
DR Laura, I had to order a new Da Bird. Thatch is crazy about it.
-
Well, this day hasn't been fun yet. Hoping rehearsal changes that.
-
Hey kids! it's time for: Photographic Evidence!
Yesterday's excellent adventure began with waiting for the train at Southeast, NY.
-
Arriving at Grand Central
-
Arriving first at the theater...
-
And meeting up with our own DR vixmom!
(Disclaimer: I suck at taking selfies, and I don't care who knows it.)
-
Th-th-th-that's all for now, folks.
-
Very nice photographic evidence....thanks DR CHAS SMITH.
Elevator vibes for DR ELMORE.
VIBES for a good rest of the day for MR BK.
-
They are still inspecting the damned thing!
-
Great pictures, ChasSmith!

I hope so. I want you to be safe when you use it.

Page three? Really?
-
We are back in business! I just toted six weeks worth of paper trash to the recyclable bins in the basement. I was going to take Annabelle with me but as soon as we got onto the elevator, she went to pieces, climbed all over me and jumped from my shoulder through the open door to the third floor as the doors were closing.
-
I hope I can do the laundry tomorrow morning before our DR ChasSmith arrives. If not, I'll do it on Wednesday.

Got it, and
Oh my God!!! :) :) :) Thanks so much!

Nothing to see here, folks, move along now.

I couldn't remember what all was in that folder.

MR BK - the Oscars last night killed the founder of Tower Records.

-
I thought he died a few years ago!
-
We just had a Thatch crisis. I took the large shopping bag in which I hold all my recyclable paper down to the basement. Without thinking I left the bag sitting in a corner of the kitchen. 30 minutes ago the bag came racing through the apartment. completely out of control. Thatch had got his head stuck inside the plastic handle and was running frantically all over the apartment trying to remove the bag from his body. He runs fast and I couldn't catch him.
He ended up back in the corner behind the bed, and I thought, I'll get him now and release him. As I got back to him, he freed himself and jumped up into the book shelves and vanished. I was concerned that he was injured, and it took me fifteen minutes to dig him out. I just offered him some sliced turkey, which he loves, and he turned me down. I hope he's okay. It scared the hell out of me.
-
An artist calling himself/herself @nian73 did this gorgeous tribute to the late Oskar the blind Cat, who died a month ago from, I think, the same heart problem Thatch has.
-
Considering his temperament I am guessing Thatch is just spooked.
-
It is a beautiful drawing.
-
Considering his temperament I am guessing Thatch is just spooked.
Yes. He and Annabelle are now lying on my bed and he's calmed down. I'm sure the whole incident terrified him, and there may be some injury to his throat. That bag was catching on things as he dragged it through his usual racing mazes and it was caught around his neck. I'll keep an eye on him.
-
After having kittens and puppies we were prepared for toddlers. Without any of those around anymore I still cannot leave a pot or pan on the stove with the handle facing out.
-
Throat/neck vibes for dear little Thatch.
-

(Disclaimer: I suck at taking selfies, and I don't care who knows it.)
Sweet.

A nice tribute to Harvey Schmidt from Tom Jones.
-
Starting To Be or Not to Be. Carole Lombard was practically perfect. Too bad Jack Benny never did more roles, though Benny playing himself was wonderful.
-
Good evening.
-
Joshie got his leg caught in a plastic bag handle once. I hate plastic bags.
-
I love it when our DRs get together.
-
I'm up, I'm up - oh, wait...
-
Rehearsal is done and was really fun - we'd done the arrangements but as always I made adjustments as we went along. What a cast and what songs. Little Peyton Kirkner did great and she told me she's now read the three Kritzer books, which are her favorites, and she's on her third Adriana book. But her mom told me there are two Adriana books that don't have eBooks, which really surprised me, but I checked and they don't. So, I'll find those galleys and have them formatted and get them up. But she's dying to read GEE so as soon as that's up, hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday, she'll do that next. I of course used her name, and I showed her her thank you in the acknowledgments, which just lit up her whole sweet face.

That's so sweet!
-
And on that note (F#), I'm outta here. I might meet my friend Margo for a bit, or I might not. We'll see.
Until later.
-
In contrast to last night, we have now been on this page for six hours.
-
Good night, all.
-
Yes, we should be on page twenty right about now.
-
Page five? Really?
-
I mean, when you think about it every day is a partay here at haineshisway.com

That is nice.

Well, I didn't meet with my friend Margo. We chatted on the phone and her sister is visiting, but is leaving tomorrow afternoon. Margo and I will get together tomorrow. She had asked if I could print some forms for her (her printer crapped out) and I can. So, I'll print them tomorrow and give them to her after work.
-
Hi, Jane.
-
Good evening.
-
Hi, George.
-
I am still not as tired as I thought I would be.
-
I slept from about 5:30 until 8:00 a.m., and then I have had a few half hour naps while watching TV today.
-
Hopefully, when I turn off the light tonight I will go right to sleep.
-
Hi, Tom.
-
Well, this is cool...Washington becomes first state to pass law protecting net neutrality (https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/washington-becomes-first-state-to-pass-law-protecting-net-neutrality/ar-BBJVlx7?li=AA4ZnC).
-
I don’t know what my problem was last night. Maybe I was just hyped up by the Oscars, or from looking at Armie Hammer.
-
Great photos. Thank you, Chas.
-
...or from looking at Armie Hammer.
That would do it for me. He's dreamy! ;)
-
Tomorrow I have to do a whole bunch of things that I had planned to do today.
-
I have several errands to run. I didn’t trust myself to drive today on so little sleep.
-

Good for you!
-

Indeed.
-
It was a shame that Armie was passed over for a nomination. It reminded me of when Brendon Fraser was skipped over for GODS AND MONSTERS.
-
While passing the hours last night, waiting for morning, I started reading a book I had on my Kindle that was written by one of the doctors at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, who attended to JFK back on November 22, 1963.
-
I may continue reading it tonight.
-
Well, let’s get off this page.
-
Sorry, my iPad stalled out.
-
Well, my computer's not having any trouble, so...
-
...since...
-
...we're so darned close...
-
IT'S THE PAGE SIX DANCE!!
-
Guess I should write some notes, huh? I've been putting up the eBook version of GEE on Amazon and Barnes and Noble - they'll be up for sale anytime between now and 72 hours, so if anyone wants to get a jump on reading it that would be fine by me, but we should have the hard copies in the next couple of weeks, I should think. But for Jane, it's available.
-
Well, crap! >:( The flash drive that I use the most just seems to have died today. I was using it this weekend without any trouble and then when I wanted to pull up a document at work, my computer couldn't read it. I brought it home and my home computer can't read it.
-
I HATE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS!! :'(
-
Well, it's time that I went to bed and to sleep. I've been struggling to stay away, so why fight it?
Good night and have a good day, all!
