Well, you've read the notes, the notes liked Brahms, and now it is time for the Brahmsian cows to come home.
-
And the word of the day is: RIPOSTE!
-
First post after Bk?
-
Good morning, all!
-
What is this a three day holiday weekend?
-
Hey there Elmore
-
Thank you all for he tooth vibes
-
I used my last Aleve last night so I shall have to buy more today
-
The kitties and I have a long weekend at home. I'll work on How To Succeed . . . and try to keep us all cool and amused as possible.
-
I don't know if my dentist is open tiday, I would suspect not
-
Good morning, DR Vixmom!
-
I was dreaming about your kitties last night, have they made up?
-
Thatch's eye seems fine this morning, so I may cancel tomorrow's appointment. I'll check him later in the morning before I decide.
-
I didn't sleep well last night. I suspect that around 11, the kitties and I will be napping together.
-
DR ChasSmith, have a fun day in and around Manhattan.
-
Good morning, all.
-
DR ChasSmith, have a fun day in and around Manhattan.
Thank you, sir. Kristi and I are going to this, and we might take the tram across to Manhattan if time permits, as neither of us has been on it.
-
Good morning!
-
Dental vibes for DR vixmom!
-
Speaking of medical things, as I mentioned Tuesday, I went to see my ophthalmologist. I asked for a new prescription since I really need some new glasses. I remembered from the last time that there's a charge ---$75! For a prescription! The last time the paperwork was submitted to my insurance company and they paid. The policy has been changed. I had to pay upfront and the office will submit the paperwork to the insurance company and maybe I'll be reimbursed.
-
I could have made that three posts!
-
So...the receptionist collected my $75 and gave me a receipt and also a sheet with my next appointment information. I left without the prescription. I called when I got home and was told they would mail it.
-
I figured it was too late to go out in Tuesday's mail, but that I should receive it Thursday, Friday at the latest.
-
It didn't come Thursday or Friday.
-
But it's coming today. Four days after I was there.
-
The reason I know it's coming today is that I signed up for the Postal Service's "Informed Delivery Daily Digest" service. Every day they send an email with a picture of the mail to be delivered that day (not including magazines and packages, though they sometimes show the tracking number of a package).
-
I think it's a great thing. I really like it when I'm traveling. Best of all, it's free!
-
BK,
Thanks for sending the OUTSIDE THE BOX episodes.
We enjoyed seeing them again.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Let’s move on.
-
Two.
-
Got a load of laundry in.
-
And I’m running late.
-
That's weird DR KEVIN H - in Indiana, they are REQUIRED to give you a copy of your prescription....FREE.
-
Fun vibes for DR CHAS SMITH as he goes to Astoria where Ann Darrow used to do extra work until the studio closed....
-
I don't like Brahms - he never answers his emails.
-
TOD:
Beethoven's Fifth
Whatever piece includes the 1812 Overture

The 1812 was a commemorative piece for the anniversary of Napoleon's retreat from Russia and stands alone. I like it, too.
-
DR TCB unless the soup had dairy or eggs it would be vegan I stead of vegetarian. Now that more and more people have become vegan places are distinguishing vegan vs vegetarian.

I believe the same law exists in all states.
I think what was mailed to DR Kevin was new glasses.

Saturday morning greetings from Normal, Illinois! My niece Laura took us to a fun farmers’ market, where we met up with her friends Diane and Sue. After they left to go to the gym we went to Sugar Mama Bakery for coffee and sweet treats.
-
Laura and I are going to play in her craft room this afternoon.
-
Good morningafternoon.
-
Are we suppose to guess what film BK wrote about over a decade ago? Leslie Caron? Tom Bell? Brock Peters? My guess is THE L-SHAPED ROOM. Do I get a prize if I win?
-
I had some big computer upgrade yesterday that forced itself upon me. It took forever.
-
Apparently, I should have paid more attention to it. This morning I couldn't sign in to my computer. Part of the upgrade was the use of a PIN code, as well as a password to sign in. I had to go in and redo everything, so I could get back in to my stuff.
-
I had visions of losing my manuscript forever.

I also was wondering what movie BK had written about. ::)
-
After last night's performance, most of the cast (and a few partners/friends) went to the new local place called Well 80. We ate and dished and chatted and it was all very noisy and fun.
-
I had their beef burger (it was really good!), but I added bacon, which was $3.00, and I don't know if that was worth it. It was kind of thin bacon, but there was a goodly amount.
-
After dining (the place closed at 11:00), I remembered that after today's matinee, I'm going to my parents' for our weekly family dinner and I needed to give my mom her Mother's Day card! I had absentmindedly left it at the theater on the actual day. :o Dopey me!
-
Anyway, even though I had the card, I still needed to get her the gift that I thought about, which was some casino playing money. My parents love to go to the Red Wind Casino. So, at 11:15 pm, I got some cash at a no-fee ATM and drove out towards Yelm to the casino, put the money in one of the slot machines, instantly cashed it out, took the ticket and then came home. That ticket is what I put in her card that I'll give her today. ;D
-
After coming home, I was beat, so I fed my cat and went right to bed.
-
I'll have to leave early from the family dinner because I'm also ushering for Harlequin Productions' latest show, Three Days of Rain (https://harlequinproductions.org/season/three-days-rain/).
-
This is the show that was supposed to be directed by the former managing artistic director and co-founder before he resigned a few months ago (http://www.theolympian.com/news/local/article206490814.html). I've been hearing good things about it so I'm looking forward to it.
-
And now, I'm off. I need to get ready for another very long day.
Until later...much later!
-
I like Three Days of Rain....but I imagine if the actors don't pick up their cues it could seem like Seven Days of Rain.
Thanks DR ELMORE.....I did know that, but I forgot.
-
AH....I guess I can't read DR JANE.
I hope DR GINNY is having fun crafting.
-
DR TCB has been PINNED.....can an engagement be far behind?
-
...or is that AHEAD?
-
My brother sprayed the Poison Ivy today....I may go out and spray it again in an hour or so when the sun is further down on the horizon....
-
At last Page Three.
-

I had a long upgrade forced on me the other day. I only lost my desktop photo.
-
I had visions of losing my manuscript forever.
Oh no! You need to back it up and keep it safe.
-

I like how you did the gift even if it was a bit late.
-
At the gym today I learned that I need a safer place to keep my phone. Fortunately I noticed while we were still there that I didn't have it, and am grateful I found it on the floor near one of the machines I had been using.
-
I ate my left over pizza once we returned home.
-
I accomplished nothing today. Every time I say down to edit, Annabelle climbed onto the desk, lay on the score, tried to get a tan from my desk lamp, sorted my paper clips and tried to eat several, pushed a few pens and pencils across the desk, determined that she could indeed crawl onto a book shelf from the desk and watch me from her hiding place inside a shelf of scores.
Needless to say, I accomplished very little.
-
Thatch spent the day napping on my bed, enjoying the breeze from the fans and the AC.
-
Sounds like a wonderful day to me, Elmore.
-
I had a dance instructor try to reshape my body into something I'm not. Maybe I'd like to be, but at this point, one week before competition, I am so not there.
-
TCB, I'm glad you didn't lose your manuscript.
-
I'm watching The Devil's Backbone, an early Guillermo del Toro. All the ingredients are here. It's good, but it's not quite as good as Pan's Labyrinth. Or maybe because I saw that one earlier ...
-
I'm ushering tonight for Patriotic Pops, which should be fun. Last year, the symphony did a Glenn Miller medley that I remember enjoying. This year, maybe Sing, Sing, Sing, which they did for the Ella Fitzgerald concert and I'd love to hear again.
-
TOD:
Beethoven's 7th and 9th
Mahler's 1st and 2nd
Sibelius' 1st, 2nd and 5th
Schubert's 8th
Vaughn Williams' Pastoral Symphony
Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique
Tchaikovsky's Symphoniie Pathetique
In Little Women the other night, Michael Gambon's grandfather is talking to a pouting Laurie: "May I advise against the Symphonie Pathetique until we are feeling a little more robust."
-
I ate my left over pizza once we returned home.
As well you should!
-
Today's show is going very well.
-
We're almost at the end, then I'm off to my parents'!
-
Just had to share.
;)
-
What a wacko day. Oh, and I'm up.
-
Fell asleep at three. Woke up having a bad allergy attack at six-thirty. Took a Claritin-D. Fell back asleep around eight. Slept until ten-thirty. So I suppose that's somehow five hours of sleep. Once up I had to correct a chart, then get ready for my noon o'clock meeting here.
-
At noon Adryan Russ and Shelly Markham arrived to play me the revised songs from the show I'm kind of dramaturging for them, after which I'll direct a staged reading - it's based on a fairly well known movie. They played me the opening number, still didn't quite get what I wanted, so I spent thirty minutes, shuffling things around, futzing with the arrangement and making sure all the choruses were always at every point beginning and ending in a major key, which it wasn't, and by the end of that it was working just as it should be. So, that's a big one fixed. Then they played me the second song, which happens well into the show. I changed up the arrangement a bit, made Shelly and Adryan smooth out a few things and that was that. The third song was one I'd asked for a completely new version of musically. And even though it was a little rough I knew it was better than the first version because it made musical sense to me in terms of the character who's singing it. Adryan had already told me they both preferred version one. So, I had them play that right after and they both knew the new one was preferable. So, we finessed that and that's three songs that now are cohesive enough to be in the show.
-
Despite the Claritin-D this little part of allergy season is really bad, so I'm still pretty runny-nosed and stuffed up. I went and picked up some mail (no important envelope) and no packages, then went to Antonio's Eyetalian restaurant, which is very close to the home environment. I had what I always have there - spaghetti Siciliano - just about four ounces of spaghetti, marina, mushrooms, and onions, so pretty calorie friendly - can't imagine it's over 700 calories or thereabouts. Then I came home.
-
As it was last Saturday, I'm taking the day off, jogging-wise - just a bit too chilly out plus my allergies, plus I'm full and by the time I'm not it will be even chillier. I think it's good to take one day off a week. One's body needs that.
-
I may or may not get a new track to listen to and proof - hoping I do, actually. It's a pretty short song so and the orchestration doesn't really kick in until halfway through, so it shouldn't be too difficult.
-

I have never head of this! How cool
-
My dentist was open today and kindly found time to see me
-
The X-ray revealed an infection in the jaw below the tooth, not in the tooth itself
-
So it's a job for the oral surgeon
-
She did prescribe an antibiotic to try and fight the infection
-
Before the dentist I did my banking and then set up communion at the church
-
After the dentist Vixdad took me to IHOP for lunch
-
I had a half order of the chicken florentine crepe
-
One crepe instead of two
-
They changed the recipe for this about a year ago, adding tomato and replacing the hollandaise sauce with white cheddar cheese sauce
-
I change it right on back when I order it
-
Afterwards Vixdad and I went to a wallpaper store to try and find some new paper for our bathroom, but there was nothing that appealed
-
My prescription wasn't ready yet but my tooth was throbbing again so I picked up some more Aleve ( I had used the last of it last night) took that and promptly fell asleep fir a coup,e of hours
-
When I woke I found a text from the pharmacy that my prescription was ready
-
What is this page four malarky?
-
I think we have us a singing bird here - quite delightful - sings whilst dancing a Mazurka.
-
I drive over but the line the drive through was packed so since I needed some things from BJs I went there first
-
I arrived just as they were restocking produce, I bought some lovely white mushrooms that were just unpacked
-
And some beautiful ripe strawberries (which I am actually enjoying right now)
-
And I found a display of Eddie Bauer sandals . They had some very nice mens sandals in both black send brown in Vixdad's size
-
$34.99 sandals being sold for $19.99' and there was a coupon this weekend there was a coupon for additional $2 off. At that price I bought a pair in each color
-
Vixdad was most pleased
-
I dove back to the pharmacy and was quite pleased to find no line at all at the drive through
-
Then it was home to make dinner
-
I am become obsessed with these Penzey spices
-
I had a nice thick chicken breast which I sliced in half, flattened the cutlets with a rolling pin and sprinkled them with Penzey's . Fox point blend and browned them in little olive oil
Meantime in another skillet I had the mushrooms (which I had peeled and thickly sliced) browning in some butter and,Penzey's granulated garlic and Penzey's Sunny Paris blend
I steamed some green beans and then added mixed them up with the mushrooms
-
Everything came out really well, I am pleased to say
-

Awww. cats :)

As well you should!
Keith had time to reheat his in the oven this morning. I had to use the microwave but was very careful not to make it soggy.
-

Wonderful.
-
She did prescribe an antibiotic to try and fight the infection
GOOD VIBES IT WORKS AND THE INFECTION IS QUICKLY GONE!
-
I change it right on back when I order it
It is frustrating when favorite dishes are changed or removed. It helps when they will still make it for you.
-
DR Vixmom congrats on your successful trip to pick up your prescription.
-
We went to a WW1 event centennial event at the Providence Academy in downtown Vancouver. We listened to WW1 songs and had a very interesting tour of the academy which was once an orphanage and a school. The accompanist, on the keyboard, was a former DR.
-
Following the event we went out with the former DR and his lovely, fun wife for Thai food.
-
The Academy

I don't think the photo does it justice.
-
DR George you might have noticed this building as it is across the street from the library.
-
The costumes were great. This is the singer in her Army doctor uniform. I wish I could have found a photo that showed off her entire uniform.

Back from the pops concert. It was fun. A George M. Cohan medley, a West Side Story medley and an Irving Berlin medley. Small but vocal audience.
-
Need to sleep. Don’t know yet if I can.
-
Did I read correctly that Keith warmed some cats up in the oven?
-
Well you didn't expect him to eat them cold, did ya?
-
Did I read correctly that Keith warmed some cats up in the oven?
Hmmm. I had better go back and see what happened to the word pizza 😀
-
My cats comment was in response to DR elmore's post. :)
-
Well you didn't expect him to eat them cold, did ya?
;D
-
Keith popped corn tonight and I indulged.
-
Jimmy crack corn and I don't care
-
😊
-
Good evening.
-
Tonight I had Freshly’s chicken parm for dinner. It was served with broccoli. Fortunately the broccoli was not mashed. It was very tasty, but I would have liked a touch of pasta with the chicken.
-
I guess I have to stop referring to the cauliflower as being mashed. I guess it is technically riced cauliflower.
-
The other day I was at Safeway and was shopping for frozen vegetables. They had an entire case of different packages of riced cauliflower. I guess it is this year’s vegetable of choice.
-
I still prefer mashed potatoes!
-
I just finished my dessert for the day. A Magnum ice cream bar.
-
I meant to have it several hours ago, but I forgot.
-
Oh well, better late than never.
-
Good night.
-
We used to have a river for making mashed potatoes. I wonder if it made the move with us and is around someplace. I had forgotten about it.
-
I attempted to post a photo of a potato ricer.
-
Three Days in the Rain was very good!
-
I'm glad I got to usher for it. :)
-

Keith had time to reheat his in the oven this morning. I had to use the microwave but was very careful not to make it soggy.
I now only reheat leftover pizza in my toaster oven. I spray the crust with olive oil and add extra cheese and it always delish!

She did prescribe an antibiotic to try and fight the infection
GOOD VIBES IT WORKS AND THE INFECTION IS QUICKLY GONE!
~~~SUPER DITTO!!~~~
-
DR George you might have noticed this building as it is across the street from the library.
I think we walked right by that building.
-
PAGE SIX DANCE!!
