Well, you've read the notes, the notes were the Heinz of notes, and now it is time for you to post until the Heinz 57 cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: RAFFISH!
-
First post after BK.
-
Ahhhhhhh, better.
-
T.O.D.
Is Ruth’s Chris as good as its reputation? In other words, is it worth the price?
-
Congrats, BK, on 57%!!
-
Depends on the Ruth's Chris. The Beverly Hills location is worth every penny and everything is always consistently great there. Woodland Hills is not as consistent, but it's still good. But if it's a top notch Ruth's Chris, absolutely. That said, the one time I tried Ruth's Chris in NY it was sub-par.
-

I once had a reviewer call my character raffish. I, of course, was insulted because I thought she said rat fish.

Hmm, so I don’t imagine you have tried the one in Seattle.

I knew that there was one up there, but I've never gone.

Hey, George, how do you feel about having dinner at the remodeled Space Needle with the glass floor??

Hey, George, how do you feel about having dinner at the remodeled Space Needle with the glass floor??
I've never been to the restaurant ever, so I think I might be willing to try it just to say that I've FINALLY been to the restaurant. ;)
-
A couple of years ago, my mom found out that she had a younger half-brother that she never knew about. They've been communicating through FB and he and his wife and kids will actually be visiting next weekend! They've been to the east coast and I think a couple of other places in the states before, but they want to go to Seattle and possible the Space Needle. I don't know if we'll go to the restaurant this time, but I'll take pictures if we go to the observation deck!

The last time I had dinner there, everything about the meal and the experience was incredible! Luckily, I was not paying. I just don’t know how comfortable I could be with 550 feet of open air beneath me.

That is definitely a consideration! I know a couple of people who have been up in the Space Needle before but absolutely will NOT ever go again! They have no intention of walking on a glass floor that high up.
-
I wonder how many months will go by before they install carpeting?
-
Well, George, it is time to say good night.
-
I wonder how many months will go by before they install carpeting?
Good question! Maybe they'll cover certain parts of the floor and have a floor-with-a-view section and a covered floor section.
-
Well, George, it is time to say good night.
Good night, Tom.
-
Well, I need to be going, too.
Good night and have a good day, all!

Good morning to all.

This is another City Center day. Joshie is tackling the huge "Honeymoon Ballet" from Act One of I Married an Angel, and I will begin proofreading the first part while he continues wrestling with it.
-
I was up too late with the cats last night, so I'm going to lie down for another hour.

Let’s move on

Two!

Vibes for a great day
-
Elmore, does anyone have notes on Balanchine’s original choreography or will it all be new?
All new. Balanchine's estate has made several moves into examining his Broadway choreography outside of "Slaughter on 10th Avenue," but all the original associates now seem to be dead. Alyn Ann McLerie's death puts an end to "Were's Charley?" and who's still alive from his three Rodgers & Hart shows? When Russe;; Warner was still alive, he was trying to find materials for them on the 1940s "Merry Widow" revival with Marthe Eggert.

We are without an internet connection a lot.

Now that little Thatch has discovered that he has the same leaping prowess as his big sister, I feel like I'm living with two mountain goats. He's jumping from bookcase to bookcase on one side of the room while Annabelle's doing the same on the opposite wall of bookcases.

Good morning, all.
-
DR Elmore, let’s just hope you don’t wake up one day to find yourself buried under every book in the jernt.

Has anybody here watched the HBO series, THE DEUCE?
We watched the first season (8 episodes) these past 2-3 days.
It's the closest thing to pornography I've ever seen on HBO, but once you get beyond that, it's actually a very good show. It's made by the same people who produced THE WIRE.
-
DR DRUXY I have seen the promos for THE DEUCE but I have yet to watch it.....maybe I'll watch a couple of episodes on DEMAND.
-
Last night was a good rehearsal.
Tonight we shall finish blocking and then onward.....
-
Wednesday morning greetings! Slow start today for me...

It's summer time DR GINNY.....the season of slow starts.

So great to hear from DR RLP last night here.....

Didn't Billy Goldenberg and the Bergmans say
I'd rather have 60% of it. Or 70% of it.
That half of any other goal at all.
-
I remember Bea Arthur doing "50%" in her Broadway show with a cold, barefoot, and with Billy Goldenberg at the piano. She maybe hit a note here and there, we applauded as if she were brilliant and cold-free because we loved her, she turned towards the piano, and said "the composer, Billy Goldenberg, ladies and gentlemen."

I’ve died enough evenings to know what I want.

Larry, I recall really liking Tam Mutu in "The New Yorkers" but didn't recognize him in "Moulin Rouge" where he plays the Duke (the villain of the show, to the extent the show has a villain.).
I looked back at the Encores clips on YouTube, and once again, I'm impressed and amazed at actors who can become such different roles so well.

I forgot to mention that we are in the Canadian Arctic. This morning we took the zodiac out to the little town on Pond Inlet. It was a wet landing which meant we needed to wear waterproof boots as we had to step into a foot of water before walking up the beach.
-
It is a small town and since a polar bear had been spotted we could not walk outside of the town limits, which meant only a small walk for us. At least the first part was all uphill.
-
Unfortunately we did not see the polar bears. Fingers crossed we see them tomorrow.
-
Tomorrow is the day we are supposed to see polar bears and the reason we came on this trip.

Fred, came across the use of the word landau in a Zola novel last night. Had no idea of its meaning before clicking on the work. Love that about Kindle.

Thanks, Jane. My mom is kind of ambivalent about meeting him. Her father (who never married her mother) left when my mom was very young and she never got to know him (I don't think she has any memory of him, at all). Then he married a woman and had another family, and Michael was from that second family. I guess Michael had a happy childhood with his dad, but mom's dad wasn't there. :-\

Keith only took his cell phone camera today and we were joking it would not be good if he could use it for a photo of a bear.

I hope they don't return from the afternoon hike we skipped having seen a polar bear.

Hello, everyone.

Good afternoon.

Remember that HMO billing issue that was going to be cleared in 5 days? It has not happened and I am once again on the phone over this issue. I am not happy and I've asked if my lawyer should step in.
-
The housing inspection is over. We passed--at least the inspector made no comments about my unit. He was in and out in no more than a minute. This was in stark contrast to the previous inspector, who looked fairly thoroughly and told the owner she had to repair the kitchen ceiling (this was BEFORE the leaks and NOTHING like it was a few weeks ago). I am relieved, to say the least. The last few months have been filled with work inside, work outside, having to be here for the plumber, and the two inspections (preliminary plus today's official one). It's taken a lot of my time and been a real inconvenience.
-
The owner had a lot of maintenance done that I know for certain she would not have had done had it not been for these city inspections. I'm sure that's true for many of the owners here. Hopefully, it's over now and we won't be bothered with this for some time.
-
I have had to put a lot of my own work on hold to accommodate the repairs and I really need to catch up now.
-

I'm sorry to hear this. All three of the HMOs I've belonged to have been terribly inefficient, but I hoped yours was better. Is there a senior aid organization you could talk to? Or does the HMO have an office that handles unresolved issues. Some years ago I learned that Verizon had such an office. They proved to be useless, though. I'm learning that I need to know where to go for help--BEFORE it becomes urgent.
-
But at least I don't have to look for alternative accommodations. GAWD!
-
Thanks for all the vibes for this. I've needed them all!
-
George, you look so slim in your new avatar! I know it's been a while since your big weight loss, but I want to commend you again for having the discipline and motivation to do it, and also for keeping the weight off. I know how easy it is to indulge.
-
DR ELMORE I am very sorry about your HMO and hope they finally resolve the problem.
-
Very good news Jeanne. I am relived for you.
-
Speaking of bears, I used to go up to Yosemite a lot. There were a number of small cabins where my friends and I would stay. We would always be on the look-out for bears. On one trip there was a bear only a few feet outside the cabin's kitchen window. That was just too close! And since it was dark I really didn't get much of a look.

I am frustrated beyond measure tonight. My mother is expressing little interest in rehabilitation when it comes to regaining her strength and walking again. She asked me what they would do with her if she did not respond after a certain amount of time. I told her she would likely go to a nursing facility.
Not home, she asked? I said she'd need to be able to walk and take care of her personal needs to come home.
She asked what I wanted her to do. I told her I wanted her to fight through it and get back to where she was before this latest hospitalization....walking and driving and being independent. She didn't say much else before I left.
They had tried to have her sit up for lunch (on side of her bed) but she made such a scene of feeling sick and not being able to do it, so she was allowed to lie down. She expressed doubt she'd be able to satisfy the therapists in the afternoon.
I later called a friend who works a shift at the hospital auxiliary desk and asked if she'd seen my mother. Oh, yes, she said, she was having her hair washed and set. I asked her what she was sitting in. A wheelchair, she said. My mother had refused the wheelchair as an alternative way to sit when I was there. She was, my friend said, in good spirits and looking forward to rehab.
As I indicated, I am frustrated beyond measure tonight.

Well, I'm off. I have this nagging feeling that I'm supposed to go shopping for something specific, but I have absolutely no idea what it could be. I hate it when that happens. I know I have to return a few things (props that weren't used but are returnable), and do laundry, but that's not buying stuff. ::) Oh, well. Hopefully, I'll think of what I may need.
I'm outta here!

Watching the great Gregory Hines in a biopic of Bill Robinson called Bojangles. The movie ain't much, but every time he dances, it suddenly becomes magic. Even in the ridiculous Shirley Temple scenes.
-
There was a hilarious article in the Washington Post about supposedly the worst book ever written. It's called Irene Iddesleigh and it was written in the late 1800s, self-published and supposedly atrocious. I couldn't resist. I got it on my Kindle for free. I hope I can start it this week.

So close and yet so far.

One more ...

Five!

Good night, all.
-
Ron, I'm wondering if your mother's medications might be causing mood swings. Can you ask her doctors about this? It may be, too, that just knowing that you want her to get back to where she was and feel that she can do it inspired her.
Vibes that her moods stabilize and she does well in rehab, and that things are easier for you, too.
-
Good night.
-
Back from a really good and really filling and really fun farewell dinner with Sami and mom. I'll sure miss her doing our shows and just in general. She's been so much a part of the past six years and watching her grow and blossom has been more gratifying than I can say. I think she has a fun photo from tonight, which I'll put in the notes should I get it.

Otherwise, I've spent every other minute of the day trying to upload the uncompressed files of both Outside the Box seasons - very frustrating and just taking forever. Actually about a third of them went in fairly quickly, in three or four minutes - others took fifteen to twenty minutes. My computer was completely spazzing out during this and I had to shut down, call Apple, refresh the whole operating system and it's been better but am still only on episode four of season two - so that and two more and it will be done. But even though they appear to be there, it's taking a lot of time for them to actually finish whatever they're doing in dropbox. Only one of season one has a green check mark, so despite the others loading in they're still doing some kind of processing. Anyway, will get the rest done but I haven't had one second to start another set of liner notes.
-
To give an example - to upload episode two took three minutes. Episode three just took fourteen minutes. Episode four, it's telling me twenty-seven minutes. Just nuts in that they're all the same size.
-
Episode five - fifty-three minutes. Madness.
-
Episode six now uploading - thirty more minutes, although the last couple haven't taken as long as predicted so hopefully that will be the case here.
-
I'm quite full of food. I had my New York, a salad, some lobster mac-and-cheese, bread, and a few bites of creme brulee - three meals in one.
-
George, you seem to be closing in on 74000!
Thanks for letting me know, Fred! I actually hadn't noticed!

Very interesting! I just bought it. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004UJL8BM/) I've gotten a few historical books from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079HDPDFV/) ;) over the years (some even free), but haven't read many of them.

The Mail program on my computer is not working at ALL. I can see on the phone that I have six new e-mails, not a one of which has shown up. Additionally, it won't send, it won't delete, nada. I've quit out of it numerous times and nothing fixes it so that's another call to Apple in the morning. How annoying.

Well, I hate to do (no, I REALLY do!), but I must go to bed now. I'm going on a field trip to Puyallup for work tomorrow for our computer system's NW User Group Meeting. Last year's meeting was quite boring and completely unnecessary. Hopefully, tomorrow's won't be.

If we were not having enough smoke problems, tonight in Shelton (south, near Olympia) has a huge tire fire that is spewing toxic smoke around the area.
-
Citizens are being encouraged to close all windows, turn off their air conditioners, and hunker down in place. The fire is expected to burn for another 12 hours.

We went to Hank’s for lunch today and I ordered my usual pizza.
-
For some reason, it was not very good this time.

I couldn’t even pinpoint what was wrong with it.

Our newest member ordered pizza, only because I talked it up, and he didn’t like it at all.

It appeared to be the same cook, as usual.

The gentleman in the apartment below me (who also happens to be the manager) in playing his video war games with a very loud volume.

He used to play them every night, but he hasn’t been playing them lately.

Mail is finally working properly. Perhaps it was an AOL thing, but I doubt it. I think somehow it has something to do with mail servers.
-
Maybe I have just forgotten how annoyingly loud they can be.

What is it all about, Alfie?
-
I saw a dead cat on the side of the street today, just a few feet from our complex.
-
I was afraid it was the cat from upstairs. He seems to spend more and more hours sleeping on the stairs going up to his apartment. Fortunately, I saw him out in the parking lot this afternoon, so thank goodness it wasn’t him.
-
I can’t imagine having an outside kitty when we live on such a busy road.
