Well, you've read the notes, the notes tilted at the windmills of my mind, and now it is time for you to post until the tilting at windmills cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EXOTERIC!
-
First post after BK!
-
Today gets to be a normal day. I don't remember if I have any meetings, but I don't think I do.
-
And since I had to get to work two and a half hours early yesterday, I want to ketchup on my sleep now, so I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!

I've been irritating everyone on one of those Facebook nostalgia groups "you knew you grew up in Hollywood if" things. Someone for the umpteenth time started a Cinerama Dome thread and all the people who post in all the Cinerama Dome threads (there have been hundreds) all come and post their same mistaken memories and no matter how many times you correct them they refuse to believe it and SWEAR they saw what they saw at the Dome, the two most frequent examples being How the West Was Won in its original engagement and the same for 2001 in its original engagement. Now, you tell these morons they didn't either there during their initial runs and they will not admit they're wrong, EVER. So, I actually have proof that after making sure they've made complete idiots of themselves I then wheel out - the photo of How the West Was Won's premiere at the Warner Cinerama in Hollywood, and the same for 2001 which played that very same theater five years later. Then they disappear with no admittance of anything - until the next thread when they spout their BS all over again. Oh, and by the way, the Dome wasn't even built when How the West Was Won opened - but not even that can dissuade the morons. But in this epic thread it's not just - it's almost every movie - some they're correct about - yes, Blazing Saddles played there but not on its initial run, yes Jaws played there but years after its initial run, and yes, 2001 played there long after its initial run and even How the West Was Won played there - in 2002. And they all SWEAR they saw true three-panel Cinerama there - only they didn't because the Dome could not play three-panel Cinerama and that held true until 2002, when they finally brought in the equipment so that they could. But people SWEAR they saw This is Cinerama there in real Cinerama in the early 1970s - yes, it played there, but in a 70mm composited print, NOT in three-panel true Cinerama. But happily, some amazing person compiled a list of every film that's played the Dome from the time it opened right up until now. I'd found this years ago but never thought to save it - so, it took thirty minutes but I finally found it again, and began a new thread showing the morons the truth in black-and-white, irrefutable - every film through 1980 I posted because after that who cares? Not only ever film, the opening date, how long it played, when the theater was closed occasionally - no one can argue. Here is that post because I thought this might interest anyone who was in LA during these years:

RE means REISSUE. So, yes, 2001 played there, but not during its original run - not until 1974 and then again 1977. Blazing Saddles didn't play here originally, but did in a reissue. Jaws didn't play there originally, but did play subsequently in a reissue. No actual three-panel Cinerama films ever played the Dome until 2002. How The West Was Won never played the Dome originally - the Dome wasn't built when that film opened at the Warner Cinerama on Hollywood Blvd. Thanks to Michael Coate for setting all of this straight. Memories are funny things aren't they?
-
George where will you keep your new clock?
-
I couldn't stop coughing had had to get up for awhile. My elbow also needed a change of position.
-
I remember that I saw Attack of the 50 Foot Woman at the Cinerama Dome in June of 1958....I'm sure I did....

Good morning, all!
-
Another day with Joshie.
-
Annabelle threw up in my bed last night. I hope it's a case of overeating ad that she's not getting sick. It wasn't grisly, thank God, just an inconvenience at 4:30AM.
-
So, the mystery this morning is, will the direct deposit land in my account today nor not? Jesus, I hope so!
-
Good morning,all.

Hard to believe Mame managed a run of 13 weeks.

Tummy vibes for ANNABELLE.

Tonight is of course Opening Night for Barefoot in the Trailer Park.....so I am hoping for a responsive audience.

Good morning all
-
That list is so interesting.
I thought it was interesting that Close Encounters only played 4 weeks and other films that were box office duds played longer.
-
Deposit vibes for DR ELMORE.
Tummy vibes for ANNABELLE.
Well, the deposit didn't happen, which really fucks up my life, since it makes a credit card payment late and increases my paranoia about trusting employers. On the positive side, the bank credited my account for the ATM mess yesterday.

Ah, the old middle of the night throw-up.
They’re so good at that.
-
The Dome list is amazing. That guy has done research like that on many films and theaters. It’s invaluable — and illuminating, in showing the differences in how we exhibited, appreciated, and attended movies, then versus now.
I know the Dome was one of the theaters that would commit to extended runs for the “special” films, but I never would have remembered that such long engagements applied to so many “ordinary” ones as well. It’s astounding. More on this later, when I can type it.

Yes! I was there! Thank you, DR Jrand68, for posting the TRUTH!
(That’s actually my own picture, btw, a 35mm slide. It’s been the most popular shot on the Dome’s page on cinematreasures.org for a long time...something I only recently became aware of when a couple of people complained that it had been pushed off from being the most viewed or liked, and they actually took the trouble to manipulate it back into first place.)
-
Tonight is of course Opening Night for Barefoot in the Trailer Park.....so I am hoping for a responsive audience.
Good luck you have one.
-
Chas I guessed it was your own photo but not that it was a slide. No wonder it still looks good.

Break legs and bare feet vibes for DR Jrand68 and Co.!

I managed a couple of hours of restless sleep and woke up with a headache.
-
Chas I guessed it was your own photo but not that it was a slide. No wonder it still looks good.
For several years in the mid-late 1970s I was taking slides instead of prints. I shot just as many duds either way, but when you have a good clear one on a transparency, it just ... lives on!
My middle-of-the-road Canon scanner does a nice job, but it does NOT capture all of the resolution or the brilliance of the colors.
-
Thank you DR JANE and DR CHAS SMITH.
HA! DR CHAS SMITH it was the only one in a Google image search that had a "poster" so I could put Allison in.....
-
Right. In case it's of interest, here's the page it comes from: http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/33
I've uploaded several to that site, and really should get to uploading other theater or marquee shots I've got. I need to devote a few days to scanning it all.
-
Opening night vibes for JRand and company
-
I guess I'm up - tummy upset most of the night, so only a few hours of sleep. Waiting for the musical director to call me so I can correct some rhythm things on the latest chart and track he sent me, and when that's corrected then that cast member can get her song.
-
Break legs to Jrand and company.
-
Some woman came into the Dome thread with this list and said that How the West Was Won, which she saw there in the 1960s, was missed on the list. I called her a troll because the other options are too horrifying to contemplate. People will not admit they were wrong. Period. I address that film specifically so either she didn't actually read the post or she's a moron.
-
And then she said I was mean for correcting her "memory."
-
Tummy ache-free vibes for the Meanie.
:)
-
Corrections made.
-
Tonight is of course Opening Night for Barefoot in the Trailer Park.....so I am hoping for a responsive audience.

Break legs and bare feet vibes for DR Jrand68 and Co.!
Ditto!

And I am home.

And then she said I was mean for correcting her "memory."
;D though i think calling people names only makes the name caller look bad even if the name calling is warranted.

I fear this cold is interfering with my body's ability to heal.

There are rumors Marin Mazzie has died. I can’t find any confirmation.

There are rumors Marin Mazzie has died. I can’t find any confirmation.
I was just going to post this. I saw a TV interview with her discussing her battle with cancer last year, and I really admire her. I checked all the Broadway sites, but there's nothing about this.
-
A couple of people have posted on her and Jason't page as if she had, but I, too, can find nothing official. She was a wonderful gal - I only worked with her and Jason once, on the Stephen Schwartz Album, but both were just great and the nicest people.
-
Confirmed.

Very sad.
-
Really sad.
-
She was always wonderful. I first saw her in an Equity Library production of Where's Charley? in the early-mid 1980s, and I last saw her as the Narrator in the Encores! production of Zorba. I went into a preview of Kiss Me, Kate thinking she was all wrong and she turned out to be one of the best things about the mediocre production. I wish I'd seen her replace Kelli O'Hara in The King and I.
-
George where will you keep your new clock?
I haven't decided, yet. I'll figure out a place once I clean up my living room...again. ::)
;)
-
Annabelle threw up in my bed last night. I hope it's a case of overeating ad that she's not getting sick. It wasn't grisly, thank God, just an inconvenience at 4:30AM.
Neve has (fortunately) only thrown up in my bed twice. It the best situation because I can clean my blankets much more easily than my carpet.

Well, since we're so close...

Oh, no. :( I saw her in Kiss Me, Kate! in London in 2001 and got her autograph and a picture, and got to chat with her for a few minutes after the show. She was so nice. :'(
-
Larry, Liam threw up last night, too, though on the carpet.
-
Break a bare foot, Jrand!

Remember the opening credits for the Barefoot in the Park TV series? (with the cop having a glass of their wedding champagne while working!)
(not great quality, but you get the idea)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGHfbX-glTc
-
Fascinating that the cancellation of the TV series was said to be because of Scoey Mitchlll being a problem. But his marriage is still going strong since 1973.
I find it fascinating because I just saw recently that Topol (maybe still best known to many for the FIDDLER IN THE ROOF film), who's been said to be one of the toughest people in show biz to work with, also has a marriage that just keeps going, Topol's since 1956.
-
It says the "Barefoot in the Park" TV series only had 12 episodes, and they ended up just getting folded for syndication into "Love, American Style."

She finally got the rave from Ben Brantley for King and I. I wish I had seen it, too, even if I turned off Kelli.

Saw this online:
Daughter: What does gays mean?
Father: Well you know mum and dad love each other - two men can love each other the same way
Daughter: So what's 'penetrating gays'?
Father: Er... read me the whole sentence
Daughter: "She stared at him with a penetrating gaze"

Back from a fun lunch with Robert Yacko. We had to make a two-act version of his show, so we've added five songs to it and I switched the order around to find a great closer for Act One - Skipper should be happy - it's She Dies/Time and Again.
-
No packages, no mail. I'm told that a new important envelope is going out today or tomorrow - they way in which I was told this pretty much tells me the original envelope was never sent.
-
So, that's only two weeks late.
-
Sad about Marin, but since both she and Jason had gone radio silence for the past two or three months I knew it probably wasn't good - both were very vocal posters about the fight. She was terrific and will be missed.

Well, I'm off. Time to leave work and head out.
Be back later.

This day has turned to merde and I see little way out of the merde. Am thinking on this heavily right now.
Didn't you do Dial M for Merde?
-
I did, but not on page three.

I hope tomorrow is a better day, BK.

Starting to watch a fun film called How to Talk to Girls at Parties.
-
Directed by John Cameron Mitchell. He directed Rabbit Hole, his own Hedwig and the Angry Inch and my favorite 9/11 movie, Shortbus.
-
Let's move on.
-
Four!
-
Got a bunch of movies from the library today, including a couple of westerns, Gunfight at the O.K. Corral and Bite the Bullet.
-
Also got an Anita O'Day disc in which she sings with the Oscar Peterson Quartet. Ol' Devil Moon, Them There Eyes, Taking a Chance on Love are among the songs. Looking forward to listening to it.
-
When will I find the time to watch all of these? Listen to the CDs?
-
Oh, well.
-
Wish I could watch all of How to Talk to Girls tonight. It's a weird, fascinating, cannibal incest, punk rock musical that you'll either love or hate. I fall into the former. It brings back a lot of my Sex Pistols days.
Also, there's a great spoof of Philip Glass music, which is indeed from outer space.
-
Good night, all.
-
On the subject of odd "films" - this one showed up as the next video in my queue, about the reasons tailors ask which way your "whatever" goes, left or right.
It's been a while since getting something tailored where I didn't want elastic for weight changes, but I remember this being asked from many years ago and it seemed quite logical that the tailor would need to know if a really good tailored fit was needed.
7-minute dry discussion re "Why Tailors Ask: Which Side Do You Dress On? | Are You A Lefty Or Righty?"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qo18bQpTC4I
-
The director of that film doesn't seem to be named on the YouTube page.
-
I'm wondering if I got there - no kidding - because when I was looking for Taylor Swift videos for a parody, I'd spelled it Tailor.
Reminds me of when "Merrily We Roll Along" searches brought me to Roll-Along luggage.
-
100!!
-
Good evening.
-
Page 4? Seriously?
-
I have been at rehearsal tonight.
-
Good night, John.
-
These long rehearsals are for next Thursday’s play reading.
-
We only have two rehearsals left.
-
One rehearsal on Saturday.
-
And then the last rehearsal on Tuesday.
-
Saturday should be a long day.
-
I think i have already talked about this play.
-
But I am in need of posts, so I will repeat myself.
-
The play is called, FOR PETER PAN ON HER 70TH BIRTHDAY.
-
Hi, Tom.
-
I guess I like the play.
-
However, I think this reading pay cause more confusion than a regular production would.
-
Hi, George.
-
The sets that would help clarify the action, we won’t have.
-
I also fear that a lot of character development will be missing.
-
One more post.
-
Page Five!
-
That hurricane is really starting to get bad.
-
And it hasn’t even come ashore yet.
-
I can’t even imagine 40 inches of rain!!
-
However, I think this reading pay cause more confusion than a regular production would.
The sets that would help clarify the action, we won’t have.
I also fear that a lot of character development will be missing.
Will someone be reading some stage directions, or will that not be needed?
-
Of course, I remember how quickly the rain backs up out there.
-
Especially in the southern states.
-
However, I think this reading pay cause more confusion than a regular production would.

No, the show will be fully blocked.
-
Or, rather, it is fully blocked.
-
I can’t even imagine 40 inches of rain!!
I know! :o
-
Pretty scary to imagine.
-
Or, rather, it is fully blocked.
Ahh.
-
The problem with he play, is that in the third act the entire course of the play changes to a surreal Peter Pan scene.
-
I just think the audience may be very confused.
-
Oh well, what do I know?
-

That's weird. :-\
