Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of chili, cheese, onions, and a hot dog, and now it is time for you to post until the cheesy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: POLYCHROMATIC!
-
First post after BK.
-
I suppose I have eaten chili cheese dogs with American cheese, but I always use cheddar when I make one at home. If I wanted American, I would have to make a special purchase, because I never buy American cheese.
-
I guess that makes me sound like some kind of cheese-snob! I am not really, it is just that my mom always purchased mild cheddar, so that is what I grew up eating.
-
Good night, George.
-
Good night, BK.
-

Ditto. I pretty much use cheddar in just about most things that I make at home.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
Today, I have no specific plans, except to ketchup on some more TV watching and laundry. My friend Margo called a little while ago and asked if I could come over sometime today and help move a bed so that she could paint one of her daughter's bedrooms. All three of her daughters have moved out and she's reclaiming their old rooms. :)
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Great photos of the kitties yesterday, ChasSmith. Thank you.
-
TOD:
I used to love overripe, smelly blue cheeses until I realized that they were exacerbating my mold allergy. Go figure. I probably shouldn’t eat much cheese. Now I limit it to what’s on a pizza, mozzarella and Parmesan mostly. The cheeses I’ll buy for myself are Swiss and goat’s milk cheeses, occasionally a sheep’s milk.
I cannot stand cheese food of any variety, that includes American cheese, which tastes like a petroleum product. Don’t want it on grilled cheese or a burger.
-
Off to what the day holds.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I fed the cats at 7:00 and went back to bed. Around 8:30 Thatch crawled in and cuddled and played for a bit. He likes to pace in a circle for a bit, then plop down beside me, cuddle a bit, then pace in circles and plop down beside me, landing in a different position. He's really quite funny.
-
This is another Moross day/ I hope to finish these revisions by tomorrow and mail them off on Monday.
-
Good morning, all.
-
A nice slow start to a Saturday. And it feels like fall out there! Heavy breeze, and cold.
-
What lovely photos of the Kitties.....thanks for sharing....and the duo photo looks great on the BLOG.
-
Now I think I will have chili dogs today.....
I like to use shredded cheddar cheese....and a type called Fiesta Blend from WalMart.
I like the Kraft American Cheese....and of course the cheese that isn't really....Velveeta for cooking and cheeseburgers.....
-
Last night was the run through for SISTER ACT....we started one hour and ten minutes LATE >:( ...at which time they decided they were going to use microphones....but the tape the man brought didn't work, so everyone was struggling... :-[
The run through was nice....the nuns put their wimples on for the first time, so of course they couldn't hear anything and all of their numbers went to hell.....so to speak. :(
Today is closing night for BAREFOOT IN THE PARK and the season at Putnam County Playhouse..... :-[
And then ONE MORE WEEK with SISTER ACT and I am done onstage for 2018....as far as I know.... :D
-
Now I think I will have chili dogs today.....
I need to make some chili!
-
DR ChasSmith, were those all the photos you took?
-
As a child in 1950s Columbus I was raised on Velveeta, which to my knowledge, was about all we ever had in the house. For the first decade or more of my life, as far as I knew, cheese came in yellow unrefrigerated boxes. I loved pizza but never thought about what the cheese component was. I knew about Swiss and sort of liked it on occasion, but I basically stuck with good old American.
After that I grew to love many real cheeses, but I'm still very happy with American on my hamburger, and I'll ask for cheddar as often as not. I haven't been putting any cheese on hot dogs here so I don't have an opinion as to which I prefer, but I suspect regular American is what you'd get most places. However, we always seem to have pre-grated yellow cheese around for quick and easy melting on things, and that is usually a mild cheddar. That's what I use on my own Cincinnati chili (because I don't see any pre-grated American at my store, and I'm lazy), so I'd probably be okay with it on a cheese & chili & onion hot dog, too.
Never got close enough to liking the blue cheeses. The faintest whiff of gorgonzola in a salad is tolerable, but really, a faint whiff is my limit. But I love many cheeses, and love tasting various and sundry ones when the opportunity presents itself.
-
Good morning!
-
DR Elmore: Basically, yes, because I was just madly shooting in the hope of getting some clear and unblurred ones. So, not a lot of variety. However, I have a sequence of maybe half a dozen of Thatch on the bed sniffing and taking the turkey, which I will email to you.
-
It looks like five went through okay. There were a few more than I thought, so look for more in a couple of minutes.
-
Done! Fifteen in all. Let me know if any problem with them.
-
TOD:
I like muenster, jack, pepper jack, and cheddar. I'm not fond of processed cheeses, like American, and I don't like Swiss. Ricotta and mozzarella are very nice for cooking (like in a lasagna). When I've gone to those build-your-own pizza places, I've tried the different cheeses they offer, like feta or goat cheese, but it never really adds anything, and it's never as good as good ol' mozzarella.
-
I'm up, I'm up - maybe six hours of sleep.
-
I've tried those "other" cheeses on pizza, too, and you can have them. For me they're totally unsatisfying, and negate what a pizza is all about.
-
I'm with ChasSmith on pizza - I don't care if people build their own things, just don't call it pizza. I'm a pizza traditionalist - pepperoni, plain, sausage, maybe onions, maybe mushrooms and that is IT. No pineapple, barbecued chicken, fish, pesto, and whatever other concoctions they come up with - pizza is pizza.
-
I shall now be on my way to auditions. If only two people are coming, I'll be there less than thirty minutes.
-
Finding the cast vibes for MR BK.
-
So do y'all cook your dogs and chili separately or do you cook your dogs with your chili?
-
From TCB:
Bogart ended up not performing in the production. We could not find a handler to stay backstage with Bogart until it was time for his big entrance.
Too bad. I am surprised there were not multiple volunteers.
-
I guess that makes me sound like some kind of cheese-snob! I am not really, it is just that my mom always purchased mild cheddar, so that is what I grew up eating.
We ate American cheese growing up and it was my favorite cheese. At some point Keith & I switched to white American because the orange American cheese was being referred to, health wise, as flavored cardboard. Eventually we stopped using it all together.
-

Ditto. I pretty much use cheddar in just about most things that I make at home.
I prefer using Colby Jack.

Blue cheese is a headache food for me. I find I can tolerate a little of it in a dressing or cream sauce.

Yesterday morning we were expecting the dry wall guys to arrive at 9:00. At 8:00, before we were dressed they rang the doorbell.
We then expected them to work until around 4:00. Nope, the left around noon and said they would return today to finish the job. When questioned they said maybe 9:00. They are still not here.
-
So do y'all cook your dogs and chili separately or do you cook your dogs with your chili?
Separately.
-
Haven't done it in forever, but: separately.
-
Also haven't cooked a hot dog on the store in forever. These days we all prefer putting them on the grill and getting them a bit charred, regardless of which style of hot dog any of us is going for.
I guess we don't eat hot dogs in winter...
-
29 days since I broke my elbow, 16 days since my surgery, 12 days of this cold...call me weary ;D
5 days without a cast is good though my progress is very slow. I overdid the stretches a bit yesterday and had to back off a little.
-
Continued healing vibes for DR JANE.
-
I guess I'm the only one who cooks my dogs in my chili.....
-
I know I quoted this before, from Kitchen Kabaret at Epcot:
I cheddar to think of it!
-
LOL DR FJL.
I am now off for the closing night of BAREFOOT IN THE PARK and the closing night of the 2018 season of Putnam County Playhouse. We will strike the set, clean up the barn....and put a period on the summer that started for me in April with ANNIE auditions.
A year ago, I would not have thought it was possible for me to do a full season of shows - I appeared in two, assistant directed one of those, and directed another....and I am set to appear in a fourth at another venue.
So...I somewhat underestimated my recovery, because it has not been easy - and of course other events this summer were wearing....but I made it....or at least I WILL HAVE MADE IT - in just eight days....
-
Back from auditions. Only one of the two was right for the part - we offered it to him and he has to work out about four conflicts. Nobody who auditioned is ideal but I think I can work with this one and get what I need.
-
I guess I'm the only one who cooks my dogs in my chili.....
I'm using that line in my next gruesome horror chainsaw incest slasher screenplay.
-
I finished my work on Act One of Gentlemen, Be Seated! I finish up Act Two tomorrow.
-
Continued healing vibes for DR JANE.
Much appreciated.

I want to get Thatch one of these bow ties. I also want this adorable kitten!

Chili dogs are an abomination and a sin against frankfurters.
ALL frankfurters must be grilled, served on a very nice roll, preferably lighly toasted and graced solely with spicy brown mustard and sauerkraut . Adding rye seeds to the sauerkraut is acceptable .
I haz spoken!!!
-
American cheese is okay for grilled cheese but it should sliced fresher from the deli counter, not that cheese food stuff
-
New York extra sharp cheddar is lovely on crackers or sandwiches and melted on burgers. Shredded it is lovely in quesadillas, as a topping for chili or potato soup or on a baked potatoe
-
Mozzarella is necessary for pizza, lasagna , baked ziti, chicken or meatball Parmesan ( I know , it's called parmesean but you use mozzarella )
-
Smoked mozzarella is lovely on crackers or melted on a burger or stuffed in a checked breast with dome roasted red pepper
-
Ricotta is needed in baked ziti and lasagna and ravioli and manicotti and that wonderful stuffed chicken florentine with a brown wine sauce at that amazing Italian restaurant I didn't eat at often enough and now it closed
-
Cream cheese is an absolute for so many recipes, a must on bagels , especially toasted onion bagels and loveky on toasted ritz crackers
-
Cottage cheese is very nice as a side with a hit grilled unadorned burger as a substitute for a bun. Also very nice with pea head strawberries and blueberries
-
Swiss cheese is wonderful on sandwiches , crackers and burgers....especially with roasted red peppers and mushrooms
-
If you prefer buttery instead of sharp, substitute muenster for Swiss
-
Havarti is a nice mild buttery cheese , nice with fruit and wine
-
Well most cheese is nice with wine
-
Havarti is a nice mild buttery cheese , nice with fruit and wine
One of my favorite cheeses.
-
Parmesean is nice in salads and on just about all Italian fishes but Vuxdad cannot stand the smell of it do we don't have it here
-
Mac and cheese needs americanand cheddar
-
Cotswold is my favorite cheese when made correctly. It should be smooth, not dry.
Double Gloucester with Onions and Chives Cheese

-
Pepper jack is nice in quesadillas ,so is Colby
-
Baked Brie en croute with raspberries......mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
-
Promontory Apple Walnut Smoked: The young Promontory cheeses are cold-smoked over red apples and Utah walnut wood that gives nutty, subtle sweet and smoky flavour to the cheese. After smoking it is allowed to mature for over 8 months. Promontory Apple Walnut Smoked cheese pairs well with dark ales, Salami, chicken
-
Smoked Gouda .....so good, buttery and bacony
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I woke up this morning with a pulled muscle in my left foot. It was fine when I went to bed last night. Sigh. I've been taking Arnica, but now it's swelling. I'm icing it. I don't think it's anything serious, but it definitely is an annoyance.
-
Major kudos to Jrand for his perseverance, patience, and mental toughness. We're glad to have you here!
-
I see Vixmom left. Perhaps all those cheese posts made her hungry.
-
We all know the tendency to buy more CDs and DVDs due to HHW, but do we eat more, too?

I, too, have a mold allergy. I never liked blue cheese or anything smelly. These days I can eat a little cheese and I'm OK, but as soon as I start eating too much or too often it disagrees with me. I agree with John G regarding American cheese. It's not a healthy food. However, Dayia (sp?) makes a nondairy cheese, available in slices, that's surprisingly good. Processed, yes, but for those of us who can't eat cheese a welcome option.

Continued vibes to all who need them.
TTFN.

I see Vixmom left. Perhaps all those cheese posts made her hungry.
They did!
-
But dinner is barbecued pork chops, baked beans and fresh Long Island corn on the cob
-
No cheese

A decent size annoyance I am sure. The swelling isn't good. Vibes it is much better by the morning.

Feta is not my favorite cheese, however, it was acceptable in our dinner this evening.

Sometimes an answer comes from something you looked at quickly.
I see the problem with City Center Encores, and Jack Viertel having lashed out viciously, having thought I was making something out of nothing. (And Bk is mentioned, I think I told him some gossip BK mentioned.)
Look at this email (way down below) from Jack Viertel. No clue of what discrimination or being excluded for being in a "protected class" is to the target or victim at all. Jack wrote: "I don't keep track of Talkin' Broadway, and, given that you've asked City Center to boycott, I'm surprised you're not doing the same."
Jack, unless you've gained understanding since then, the idea of protesting discrimination and Human Rights abuse is:
That they were not letting me in, and I wanted to be allowed in. To any and all of the things they offer anyone else in the public, and to any artists. Their networking events. Their discussions.
That they were not allowing coverage or press releases of my work, and I wanted them to allow coverage off my work.
That when I was in a festival with 25 shows (MITF), because they embargoed any press releases that included my work, they left out the whole festival of 25 shows that period, letting the festival know the consequences of ever choosing my work again. The point is they were not allowing me in. I wanted to be allowed in.
How did you dramaturge Hairspray? The August Wilson plays? It can go on and on! Jack, you're on the inside always looking out!
I think I got the Encores Human Rights policy pretty right after all.

Fred,
These two things are unrelated, and trying to make a case that they might be is walking down a blind alley for no reason.
I got your messages. I don't keep track of Talkin' Broadway, and, given that you've asked City Center to boycott, I'm surprised you're not doing the same. But whatever Bruce Kimmel may or may not have written doesn't actually interest me -- that's inside baseball stuff, and I don't actually care, though I certainly appreciate your concern.
Best,
Jack
-
Well, I feel the same about ol' Jack, as you know. And anything he's written doesn't interest me either because he's a pedantic twit. I doubt he even knows who I am. I had his number when Time and Again was being done out here and I've had it ever since.
-
BK, I think the thing was the subject being inside, not that you said it.
He's never dissed you, not in front of me or Skip, as far as I know. Just said even he had to let all the ideas, including yours, go into the idea hopper. Yours were always taken seriously. It sounded (before I met you) in 1996 that the group really knew your work.
-
That was very early in the net era. I recall the Theater sites staffs "closed down" for the weekend.and didn't tend to update in weekends.
-
Finished with my viewing and listening to music.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
You'd think it was a Saturday night or something.
-
I'm listening to the Houston Grand Opera performance of Porgy and Bess, a production I saw here at the Ahmanson twice and really enjoyed. I had the LP set of this when it came out but don't really remember listening to it much. I got the CD when it came out and didn't listen to it more than once. Listening now I understand why - it is one of the worst-produced albums I've ever heard. Its producer, at that time, was so full of himself and had all these "ideas" about cast albums and sound. His work on the Sondheim shows was fine, but this thing is just awful. First of all, the CD itself is mastered very low - then you add to that the producer's "vision" of sound - where after the initial orchestral opening the next six minutes are so low you can barely hear them - I'm sure he had something in his head why it should be like that but it doesn't work. Period. Then the mix is just silly - sometimes the vocals are so low you can barely hear them, but then you can literally hear him raising the faders to bring up the band for what he perceives is an important orchestral flourish. Sound-wise, the recording has no life at all - the cast is fine and it's obviously not their fault.
-
I'm not going to be any help getting to page 5.
-
Good evening.
-
Page 4? Seriously?
-
I am not much help tonight.
-
I slept much of the day.
-
I never even left the house.
-
I didn’t even go out to get the mail.
-
Happy Autumn to those who celebrate it.
-
It rained today, but not much.
-
Actually, although Fall is here, we are expecting warmer and dryer weather this week.
-
Mid-sixties tomorrow.
-
But temperatures in the seventies starting on Tuesday.
-
And into the upper seventies beginning on Wednesday.
-
Not exactly tropical...
-
But certainly an improvement over the past couple of weeks.
-
The fall TV season is getting underway this week.
-
Perhaps tomorrow we could discuss what shows you are looking forward to trying.
-
And which shows you will avoid at all costs.
-
Page 5
-
As I believe I mentioned last evening, yesterday I had my every three months’ eye exam.
-
I was not looking forward to putting up with the openly rude nurse in the office.
-
Well, she apparently liked me even less than I thought.
-
Yesterday, the doctor himself came out to get me, took my back to the exam room, and did all of the preliminary parts of the exam that the nurse normally does.
-
And the witch was there yesterday, because I saw here just before I went in for the exam.
-
Oh well, I much prefer spending the time with the hunky doctor.
-
He did tell me that I need to start laser treatments next month.
-
Despite my eye drops, my pressure numbers are still too high.
-
The laser treatments will open up these small pores around the eye which allows thi fluid to wash my eye.
-
He explained it much better than I just did.
-
This is not a LASIK procedure.
-
It is an entirely different thing.
-
He will do the left eye in October and the right eye in November.
-
It is very quick and completely pain free.
-
At least it is pain-free for the doctor.
-
I am sorry to be babbling, but there is no one else around to talk to, and I warned you that I had nothing to say tonight.
-
So, I guess I will just say good night.
-
Guess George is off doing very important things.
