Well, you've read the notes, the notes were rehearsed twice, and now it is time for you to post until the twice rehearsed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: AVUNCULAR!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
And now - BK in the shower.
-
First post after BK's shower.
;)
-
From last night:
Do you like the show?
Umm...well, I've been having fun being in it, but it definitely need some work after this reading. ::)
-
The lead character is in the fourth grade (all the actors are adults), and it's mostly her imagining that the letters of the alphabet are a singing group, and what she goes through when her parents tell her that she's going to have a baby sister, and how the letters help her learn to cope (or something like that). A couple of the songs (to me) are much too sophisticated for a fourth grade character, and I think too sophisticated for an audience as young as this theater group usually does shows for. :-\ I don't know if young kids will be able to follow the plot.
Just my 2¢.
-
We'll see how the audience reacts on Sunday.
-
BK, do you sing in the shower?
-
And now, I need to go to sleep. I want to go into work early tomorrow, so I need to go to sleep early...and I shall.
Good night, and have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR JohnG, Hudson Talbott sent me a lovely rejection. He says he wants to illustrate only the books he's written.
-
We have a special election today for public advocate, so I will vote this morning. Following that I need to change filters on both the air purifier and humidifier. Now that I've found the paper cutter, I must cut some paper.
-
Rob Berman sent us a list of proposed cuts for the New Yorkers recording so I need to listen to the tracks and to approve or suggest others. The recording is now set for March 25-26.
-
I have finished the first draft of the 21st play in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS Collection.
Time to let it simmer.
-
Good morning, all.

So excited. What label will it be on?

I’m sorry. Lovely or not.

If cleaning the litter box reflects how my day will go, this could be a lousy day. The plastic bag into which I pour the day's dirty litter fell apart, leaving me with dirty litter all over my shoes and the bathroom floor. As soon as our patrol was over, I vacuumed the floor. Ugh.

I have no idea.

Good morning!
-
Good morning, all.
-
That '70s TV special sounds ... just about enticing enough to seek out one of these days.
-
Thinking about the Oscar ceremony:
In previous years, one or more of the presenters were representative of Hollywood's "glorious" past (e.g. Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway).
Was there anybody like that this year?
I don't recall any.
Another big mistake.
-

It's still stupendous news, and SUCH a relief knowing this thing is happening.

A big Oy! for DR Elmore.
I know you hardly need any free advice on this, but my procedure over the past several years has been to DOUBLE-bag the litter for the carry, however long or short the route to its final destination.
Don't know what other people use, but we save all the "t-shirt" (handle) bags from the supermarkets for litter. Before scooping I check for any obvious holes or tears, and only fill those that are intact. I used to not even check first, but I learned. And always double. There's no guarantee the seam isn't ready to split. Sometimes I'm tempted to just go with the one bag I've just filled, before I remind myself that any kind of a spill just ain't worth it.
-
Tuesday.....
Continued Rehearsal vibes for MR BK and Co.
-
I got my State tax refund this morning. that was a nice surprise.
-
I am going to vote and then stop at Staples for a look around.
-
The cast had last night off, and we enjoyed the relatively rare luxury of a solid followup orchestra rehearsal in which we nailed all the places that needed work or tightening up. It's too bad the orchestra gets "piped in" (nice theater, no pit) because even though some stuff is lacking from the original orchestration, it's still so much more satisfying to these ears than the new one.
My suggestions for fixing mistakes and discrepancies have, happily, all been taken. And as some of the piano book is derived from the original harp part, I've been given free range on what I play and how I play it so as to better the sound. (I'm NOT throwing in a harp patch. It's still just piano and celesta, just somewhat improved from what's on the page. IMHO, of course.)
-
First post after BK's shower.
;)
I am very pleased I was sleeping and not the first to post.
-
I managed to sleep a little over 7 hours.

Ugh. I have been there with an entire kittly litter change.

"T-shirt". That is a new name for the handle, at least to me. Are you referring to the large paper bags? That is what I used for the entire litter box change. We also linec them with a large plastic bag for dog poop.

The term "T-shirt" bag goes back to at least the early 1980s. I knew it, and still use the term, because my day job for years was with a plastics company that manufactured related items. A typical listing: https://www.uline.com/BL_5557/Plain-T-Shirt-Bags

I've voted. There are 18(?) people up for the post of public advocate, We'll see what happens.

I was stuck on a train for 24 hours. Very unpleasant. I was a smoker back then and stayed in the bar car, which closed at 2 am. Bad move. Mothers used their kids to break out food from the loosely locked cabinets.

Here in Thurston County, Washington, plastic bags like that are illegal anymore. You can still get the regular paper bags...but those now cost 5¢ each. Most people buy and keep reusable (not one-use-disposable) bags. Mostly what I have are decorated canvas bags.

Did the train breakdown?
I am surprised the bar didn't open back up when the train was stranded.

You can't get them in California or Oregon that I know of. And you have to pay 5 cents for any bag. We were surprised to see them when we moved here. I didn't know areas in Washington had made them illegal. Maybe I should collect some and save them.

Jane, only the big, regular sized bags cost. The smaller sizes are free.

I always felt bad her marriage didn't last after giving up the show for her husband.
-
Yes, plastic bags are slowly but surely getting banned.
It'll happen here, too, eventually. They've been talking about it.
They're considered "single use" -- except by cat owners! :)
-

Hmm, not sure about those very little ones with the handles. The grocery ones are not charged for. We usually take our own bags into the market but once in awhile we are short or forget, or weren't planning on shopping. Annoying is when you shop where you need extra large bags and spent a lot of money and they charge for the bag.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Hi Jeanne.
-
Add me to the list of those who didn't know what a t-shirt bag was.
DR Chas, are you saying that your stores still give out plastic bags with groceries? That's very last century here. If we want a bag they sell us a paper bag for 10 cents. That's by law; it's not an option for the stores. The produce section has small plastic bags, though, which are free.
-
I have three canvas bags that I use for groceries. One of the probiotics I buy, which is rather expensive, arrives in a very nice foil-lined canvas bag, along with a cold pack. It's perfect for groceries. I also keep paper bags in the trunk of my car in case I've forgotten the canvas bags or need a bag for something. Many people bring their own bags here.

Oh 10 cents vs 5.
-
congrats to Druxy.
-
Before taking bags in was commonplace I saved my paper bags in the truck of my car and reused them. We have one very nice foil lined bag that is our favorite and keep in the front of the car for easy grabbing. It is our first bag of choice before using our other reusable bags from the trunk.
-
I'm also looking forward to the New Yorkers CD.
-
Jane, where did you find the foil-lined bag? I've never seen any except mine.
-
John G, glad to hear the acupuncture is helping your allergies. One of the nice things about holistic treatments is they help in many ways, some of them unexpected.
-
When we moved here and transferred our State Farm insurance the agent gave us the bag. It is solid, comfortable to hold, and zips closed to keep it cooler inside.
-
I googled foil lined shopping bags curious if we could buy one once this breaks (it is still good after 3 years) and found a few stories of foil lined shopping bags used for shop lifting ::)
-
Maybe our silver lining is a different insulation than foil.

They were still caught thanks to surveillance cameras.

After looking on line I take back the foil comment regarding our bag :)
-
We still get free plastic bags - one use, not T-shirt bags - at all stores. Aldi's grocery SELLS bags, so when we shop there we take our own.
-
I found something like our insulated bag. Yes. Keith isn't feeling well and the video cheered him up.

So much snow in Ashland. I am glad we are not at our beautiful old home shoveling for hours on end.

Here in Suffolk county it will cost you five cents for a bag, in all stores, grocery, departments stores etc. but take out food can still be put in a plastic bag for free
-
I have many reusable bags, . I have several really nice insulated zipped bags I bought at BJs.
-
They look nice as well, I use them when I travel because they are also waterproof
-
I looked up the bag regulations passed in Ashland in 2014. My memory is off by 5 cents. The charge for paper bags was 10 cents. I recall stores giving out plastic bags until their supplies were gone.
-
I have many reusable bags, . I have several really nice insulated zipped bags I bought at BJs.
The restaurant?
-
Two nights ago I had spinach in my salad. Last night I made something super fast before going to my book group and didn't have any. Keith had the spinach. Today he told me to throw it out in case it is the reason he is sick.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep and then I was crazy trying to get everything done in time for rehearsal, so I was out the door before even going on the computer.
-
I had a patty melt and side Caesar salad for the meal o' the day, then I picked up only one package, from yesterday, which didn't seem right to me, so I have to check and see what's what.
-
Then I got home and rehearsal began.
-
I had two numbers to stage so we just dove right in and I have to say they came out really great. It's all very simple and very clean, which is my favorite kind of staging and the fact that we're on five stand mics makes it all easier and you have to be even more creative.
-
We wrapped at six and I finally went on the computer, but must go out shortly as I'm completely out of Diet Coke.
-
And we cannot be completely out of Diet Coke, you know.
-
Page four? Really?
-
Watching the new, modern-day Little Women. I'm not sure what I think yet.
-
I don't think I'll be able to stay awake through the whole thing tonight.
-
This Little Women is different. Not great. Not bad. The modern music is a bit much.
-
It only received a 4.5 on IMDB.
-
It only received a 4.5 on IMDB.
It plays with the time angle by presenting things in a different order, but that actually works here. It's actually a little better than the recent BBC version. Some things will make the purists unhappy.
-
I need to finish this up tomorrow. I'm fading.
-
Not my cup of tea but I am glad you are enjoying it.
-
I hope Keith's fever is gone by the morning. I don't really think it was the spinach but I wasn't about to tempt fate. Actually I hope it was because then I can't catch what he has.
-
~~~Feel Better Vibes for Keith!!~~~
Watched the first half of the new mastering of This Is Cinerama. It's fun but boy what a snooze fest it is. I mean, if you see it in actual Cinerama the thing is so huge that it's enveloping and just holds your attention through sheer awe.
The legislature is debating a state-wide ban on plastic bags. If passed, paper bags will be ten cents, instead of five cents.
-
I thought my cold had come and gone, but I was wrong.
-
Today I have a nasty cough.
-
The neighbors must think I have taken up smoking.
-
Or maybe cigarettes.
Tomorrow is Nicky Day at the vet’s office.
I can’t tell you how excited I am.
I need to make an appointment for Neve.
5!!!!!
I don’t understand that either.
I am not really sure who keeps the money from the paper bags?
Does the money go to the government (city, state, feds)?
Or do the stores keep it?
-
What is Bunbury?
I will have to find my A Christmas Story bio and send that in.
I got an email today from Second Story for their production of MAN OF LA MANCHA.
Have a nice day all
Good morning, all.
Odd.
-
Good morning, all!
Oh, what the hell. Good morning, all! :)
We reuse the plastic bags for coffee grounds and various other things, but I've gone to canvas for groceries.
I've gone primarily to the reusable ones, but I don't think they're canvas. We always used the large paper bags to line our waste baskets, but then the stores stopped carrying them, so I looked on line and bought the smallest quantity I could:. 500. I doubt we'll run out any time soon.
Good morning! It's still Tuesday on HHW.
-
Up, still Tuesday. If only I could sleep until Wednesday.
I fell on the opposition side of the modern-day Little Women before shutting it off last night. The house had become one of those Nancy Myers house porn settings with candles burning everywhere. That’s when I realized the March family wasn’t poor, which changed something fundamental about the story. Too much no longer makes sense. Jo doesn’t need to work for Aunt March. Beth getting a piano means little. The wealth of the Laurence family plays no role. Yawn.
Thanks for the report. I feel better about avoiding it.
Somebody go knock on MR BK's door and make sure he is okay.
-
And wake him up, I think not.
-
This has happened before. I can only guess he preset the notes, or something and then fell asleep without opening the new day.
-
Still sleeping?
-
I am going for a walk and will check in when I return to see if we are on Wednesday yet. I hope it isn't icy on the walking path.
Still no new post page? I hope BK is ok
