Well, you've read the notes, the notes were fancy, and now it is time for you to post until the fancy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DIVERTISSEMENT!
-
See what happens? See what happens? I was so determined to get to bed at a reasonable hour, that I did not change the topic. I should have changed it when the notes went up, but nooooo, thanks to a loowwwwww number of posts I did not.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
Page one? Really?
-
Most unseemly.
-
Good afternoon, all!
-
I have little to report. But I shall do it as eloquently as possible.
-
Or perhaps elegantly. While walking a certain way, and to the tune of a certain song.
-
Hmm. That should have gotten us at least to page fifty-three.
-
Good afternoon, all.
-
Loaded day at work.

-
I figured you would be up by now.
-
Of course you were sleeping.

I spent the morning cleaning the air purifier and replacing the filters on it and the air purifier. I then spent the part of the day working on my London orchestration and listening to the Michael Cohen hearings. I've been to the market and posted three checks due this week. I'm ready for a nap.
-
I saw the very beginning of the hearings, but then I had to get to work, so I didn't continue. I'll probably read some of the updates as the day goes on.
-
Um, where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
The new book just went to the production team, which means they had no problems with any of it.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Good news about the book.
-
I watched some of the hearings waiting for my story to come on....it is a most disgusting affair and NO ONE comes out looking good....on either side of the table or house......
-
Bruce, do you recall a really good BBC series called HAPPY VALLEY from a few years ago? I just learned that there is now a second season, produced by and available on Netflix streaming. Thank you, Netflix. They seem to be picking up shows of high quality that, for whatever reason, were not given another season. they have my blessings.
-
I ran into my neighbor earlier, the one who'd forgotten to lock his car the other night. He told me that the neighbor whose car was broken into had left a roll of quarters and a fanny pack in view. sigh. I'm still surprised it happened and still grateful that my car was left alone.

I recall the days when British politics was full of scandal, but US politics was not. We now rival the Brits.
-
It's good for the news media.
-
I have no other news.
TTFN.

Great news, BK!

That's not surprising.

I loved Happy Valley. For some reason, I thought I'd seen the second season a long time ago - are you sure it's new?
-
It's Wednesday on HHW!
-
Went to Costco today. Exciting news, I know!

I didn't think there was a second season. Amazon gives the DVD release date as Nov 2018. I know I haven't heard anything about in some time. I won't know for certain until I view it. I tend to keep shows I really like on my radar.

My brother watched this. I don't know if he saw both seasons but he only gets DVD's from Netflix or I would tell him about it.

New on Netflix streaming. Season two aired in 2016.

IMDB shows season one in 2014 and season two in 2016.

That's what I thought - I knew I'd seen a second season.

Page two? Really?
-
Listening to music and fighting like crazy not to be sick - no time for such stuff and nonsense.
-
Eating some pretzels now.
-
Pretzels I have time for.
-
Pretzels sound good. I was in the mood for some last night. Alas, I don't have any which might be a good thing.
-
I am having a mini vanilla been ice cream cone. Some people might eat this in one bite.
-
I am having some of my first watermelon of the year. The flavor ain't great. But it's good to have.

DR Ginny, Dawn Powell was a good friend of John Latouche and she appears throughout Howeard p[ollack's new Latouche biography. Which of her novels would you recommend I read?
-
Back to the end of Little Women.
I thought you gave up on it.
-
Several of us at work were trying to keep up to date on the testimony today. It didn't work all that well.
-
But I know the highlights should be fun.
-
DR Ginny, Dawn Powell was a good friend of John Latouche and she appears throughout Howeard p[ollack's new Latouche biography. Which of her novels would you recommend I read?
My Home Is Far Away because of the Ohio setting. It's a little like a Dickens novel.
A Time to Be Born is a still-hilarious attack on Claire Booth Luce and America in the early 1940s.
Angels on Toast and The Wicked Pavilion are also wickedly funny.
This Happy Island isn't a great novel, but it's an early attempt to present homosexuality in a normal light.
I loved most every one of her books. It's time to re-read some of them.

Lovely. I would be happy with 50.

I'm now going to start The Happy Prince, with Rupert Everett as Oscar Wilde.

I haven't read much in the last couple of days, think I will do so now. I am reading the gothic novel Once Upon a River
by Diane Setterfield.

Spoiler Alert !!!!
Beth just died.
NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :'(

I don't know how much of The Happy Price I'll be able to watch tonight. It's a little too depressing.

It's not been a fun day.

I learned my dad is going to have to have an operation, which can't be a great thing for a 90-year-old.

But he has been having a digestion problem that has him coughing up too much.

Wednesday evening greetings!
DR Ginny, Dawn Powell was a good friend of John Latouche and she appears throughout Howeard p[ollack's new Latouche biography. Which of her novels would you recommend I read?
I’d start with My Home is Far Away, because it’s somewhat autobiographical and I think you’d enjoy the Ohio aspect. DR John G has provided a great list and I’ve been thinking, also, that it’s time to rad som more of her books. I’d also like to read about her in the Latouche book.
-
I learned my dad is going to have to have an operation, which can't be a great thing for a 90-year-old.
Definitely a cause for concern...
-
And speaking of the Sherman Brothers (I'm sure that someone was...somewhere ;) ), I just bought on eBay a SEALED LP copy of their stage musical, DAWGS! (http://castalbums.org/recordings/Dawgs-1983-Los-Angeles-Cast/3659/) (the "!" is actually in the title) Only $14.20, including tax and shipping! Has anyone ever heard this? I'm assuming that the music is good because, well, Sherman Brothers.
-
Vibes for DR JohnG's Dad.

I learned my dad is going to have to have an operation, which can't be a great thing for a 90-year-old.
OMG and in his condition. I am sorry. I hope it is a short one and does not effect his short term memory.
-
MAJOR SURGERY VIBES FOR THE FATHER OF DR JOHN!
-
But he has been having a digestion problem that has him coughing up too much.
:(
-
Prayers and vibes for John's Dad

Well, I need to leave work now. There's a library board meeting, so I don't have to close the building. :)
Be back later.

Had some soup for my snack, a Kind bar, and I'm listing to some Mili Balakirev. I like it.
-
I'd only had a chili, cheese, and onion hot dog and side Caesar earlier.
-
Get me off this damn page.
-
Thank you, all. I have no idea when the surgery will be, so I guess I'll be antsy about it -- though not nearly as much as Mom -- until then.
-
Get me off this damn page.
It will happen.
-
In a few posts.
-
See? We're one step closer.
-
Just put one foot in front of the other ...
-
Soon you'll be walking on page ...
-
Four!
-
I started a new Faulkner called Knights Gambit. It's six tales of murder collected together.
-
Ross Macdonald or John D. MacDonald he ain't.

But the first two stories are good.

Good night, all.

Good evening.

And I shall have to presume it was a good one. What I could hear over the monitor was sounding a HELL of a lot better than even yesterday evening.

About twelve weeks ago the helper told me we were completely out of Follies. I was quite surprised by this news, frankly, and said I couldn't understand how that could be and that I was pretty sure we had some stored at the pressing plant. But he told me we had to take it off sale and so I did, at Kritzerland and at Amazon. Instantly, two disgusting dealers on Amazon upped their prices - one to $250 and one to $350. People were writing me and I had a couple here so I was able to take care of them. So, yesterday I looked at our inventory sheet and there are now almost 200 at the office - which means the helper never told me he'd checked and that the plant was indeed storing them. So, this afternoon I put it back on Amazon and made it live on Kritzerland again. And posted on all the Facebook groups. And we got like twenty orders instantly, from people who were basically saying, "How didn't I know about this?" These are musical theatre fans, Sondheim fans, cast album fans, and this thing got a humungous amount of publicity, we had to repress it, and it's been posted about relentlessly every time there's a Follies thread anywhere. And yet, "How didn't I know about this?" I couldn't believe it really, but orders are always appreciated. So, when we do our next show release announcement in a week or so, my intention is to tub-thump Follies again, along with some things we've found - Gone With the Wind, Camelot, Show Girl... all those have been OOP for months now but it was the same story - we had some at the plant.

Thanks. I like it and it is easy to recognize as your bag.
-
Bruce good news you found your missing Follies.
-
DR John continued good vibes for your parents..
-
Since it is quiet here I will return to my book until I fall asleep.

That's great, BK! Of course, we could be on page 53 by now if you had broken this up into smaller posts. ::)

Tonight, I watched the new episode of "Documentary Now" where they spoofed the Company recording session.
-
I'd never seen the show before.
-
It was pretty darned funny, and really well done...in my opinion.
-
They wrote original songs for their version called CO-OP.
-
John Mulaney and Richard Kind were on Late Night with Seth Meyers show a couple of weeks ago.
-
John Mulaney co-wrote the episode with Seth Meyers and others.
-
Richard Kind was in the episode.
-
On Late Night with Seth Meyers, Richard Kind performed live the song that his character sang on the "Documentary Now" episode.
-
He performed it better live than his character did on the episode.
-
...which is probably a good thing for Richard.
-
;)
-
And...
-
...now...
-
...that...
-
...we're so close...

I also found THIS (https://www.discogs.com/Co-op-Documentary-Now-Presents-Original-Cast-Album-Co-op/release/13141622) website where they have pictures of an album!
-
I saw the trailer for it and after hearing the terrible lyrics I decided I'm in no hurry to see it. If you parody or spoof something you'd better be accurate, especially when the songwriter you're spoofing is Stephen Sondheim. All the messy, false rhymes just irritated me.

-
Of course, if I'd remembered to change the topic last night, we'd be further along.
-
I guess I'll change the topic momentarily.
-
Since the notes are already up.
-
And they have the cover of the new book.
-
They do, they really do.
-
Don't believe me? Just see for yourselves.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
I think we're close to twenty-five orders since I posted the Follies info.
-
Go know.
-
What am I, doing a monologue?
-
Just me and my shadow.
-
And Quincy's soundtrack to Walk, Don't Run.
-
BK, when will the book be available to purchase?
-
Very nice cover!
