Well, you've read the notes, the notes reviewed the revue, and now it is time for you to post until the reviewing cows come home.

I'm listening to the Poulenc concerto for two pianos - what a great piece and the second movement is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.  Played by Gold and Fizdale with Leonard Bernstein conducting.

This is going to be a very busy weekend for me!  First today, I have the last Alphabet Caper rehearsal before tomorrow's one and only concert performance.  It should only last about an hour or so.  After that, I'm going to my parents' to help my mom cut down some branches that got broken during the recent snow storm.
Title: Re: RUNNING THE REVUE
Post by: George on March 02, 2019, 12:36:43 AM
I was then planning on going to my sister's with my parents for our weekly family dinner, but I found out last night that there's a Bunbury rehearsal at 2:30 and I'm expected to be there.  I didn't know that.  Last night's paper tech went really well.  I don't know how long that rehearsal will go, but if it's not too late, then I'll call my sister to see if our parents are still there.  If they are, I'll go over for a while, then I'll come home for the rest of the evening.
Title: Re: RUNNING THE REVUE
Post by: George on March 02, 2019, 12:36:55 AM
Tomorrow, the Bunbury rehearsal starts at 9:30 in the fraking morning. :P I'll need to leave there at about 12:45 to go to a union meeting.  Hopefully, I can leave soonly, because I need to go back to the Bunbury rehearsal.  Then, I and a couple of other people will have to leave by about 3:45 because we're involved in the Alphabet Caper concert performance.  THEN, my weekend busy-ness will finally be done!

Re: DR Jrand68's TOD:  I still have a landline.   Like BK, I mostly get robocalls.  I don't answer if I don't know who's calling.  Messages are hardly ever left.   I still prefer talking on that phone, however.  I've had the same number for over 30 years.

I’m in a somewhat tense holding pattern, waiting for the snow to stop so I can clear at least a couple of tracks for myself with the snowblower. Hopefully the end of the snow and the arrival of the plow guy will coincide to make my job a little easier. Whatever happens, I want to be out of here by 11:00-11:30 and on my way to Yonkers. I mean Poughkeepsie! Poughkeepsie!! Yes!

There’s no way I’ll be there in time to try one of the Poughkeepsie diners, but I can plan on going up in time tomorrow morning for a nice breakfast. Yes, that’s the ticket.

Annabelle and I have made our patrol.  She played tag with me, then lay on the third floor and rolled around on the linoleum.  We went down to the first floor, where she played on the steps in the lobby until the neighbor in 1C stepped out and Annabelle ran for safety to the second floor, where she went back to rolling about.  Now we're home and I'm thinking about some breakfast.

Concert last night was great and odd. It was a mashup from last year's canceled British concert (Vaughn Williams, Holst, Elgar) and Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 2. The evening ended with 150 singers filling the aisles to sing words set to Pomp and Circumstance. It turned into a sing-along and the audience ate it up. Thrilling.

There's tons of stuff here that needs attention. I tried to get Brian, my cleaning guy, here last week, but his work schedule changed at the last minute. (He has a full-time job, plus a part-time job, and moonlights for me.) This coming week he's fully booked. I knew this would happen. He's bright and hard-working; it was just a matter of time until someone saw his worth.

The Broadway producer at DR GEORGE's post is not as nice as he seems....it seems....

What good is it for a theatre company to have permission to present the Sorokin version when they've spend five or six weeks set building, lighting, sound designing, and the actors have LEARNED the Sergal version?

BK mentioned THE THIRD SECRET. I went over to Netflix to look it up, thinking I'd rent it. It seems I did so in 2007 and gave it 5 stars. I have no recollection of this. I guess I should watch it again. The advantage of memory lapses is that everything old is new again, right?

A mostly excellent stumble-through - a few lyric mishaps, nothing major.  I had to work out a few intro and outro things I wasn't happy with, along with some transition things, and then just gave a few notes here and there to our wonderful cast.  I was worried about the propensity of ballads but it really plays very well.

We tested a few things as files were being entered, but during the tech run, we still had to adjust things.

Thanks, but there was still plenty of time for you to turn the page if I hadn't. ;)

The first one we saw was the condo which was located out in Graham.

We need to be there by 5:00, but the show starts at 6:00.

I heard Tracy tell Holly that she really hoped I would find a house with a great kitchen, so I would start cooking again.  She told Holly that I am a great cook. 😇

Today is SCI FI day on TCM, so I shall watch many of those movies....it started late last night - but I am beginning with THE TIME MACHINE which began about 20 minutes ago.

I recorded 2001 (which I've seen...years ago, though) and 2010, which I've never seen.

DR TCB I read a story today of a veteran who purchased a home and then was told he could not put in a wheelchair ramp due to the HOA rules.

Good hunting.

That's terrible. >:( There should always be those kinds of exceptions!

The Broadway producer at DR GEORGE's post is not as nice as he seems....it seems....

What good is it for a theatre company to have permission to present the Sorokin version when they've spend five or six weeks set building, lighting, sound designing, and the actors have LEARNED the Sergal version?

Exactly!  And what if the theater company doesn't like the Sorkin version as much as the Sergel version??

;)

This email mess is working my last nerve.  I have not had a return call from my former Mac Mecanix's son, my friend Heller has left me in limbo at present - not his fault but it's not helping me out - and I may have to schlep the damned thing down to 20th Street to Mike's Tech Shop next week @ $100/hr service.
