Well, you've read the notes, the notes weren't quite notes, and now it is time for you to post until the cows that aren't quite cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PENULTIMATE!
-
First post after BK!
-
Growing up, I don't remember when I realized what a cartoon short in the movies was, ir that it was different than just a cartoon. I think the first ones that I experienced were when Pixar showed them before their movies (especially before they were bought by Disney).
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
goodnight Pearls
-
Good morning, all!
-
Annabelle's nose is clogged again this morning so she won't eat. I'm quite frustrated because I hate torturing her, and I have no money at the moment for a vet. Thanks to that damned email issue last week that wiped out my last bit of funds, I'm out of money until Social Security lands eight days from now.
-
DR Vixmom I too fell asleep early, if you consider ten early, and then woke up at 2:00.
-
Speaking of that email issue, my friend who further complicated the situation and told me he'd get back to me the next day, has never contacted me since. I guess he's now a "friend," and not a friend.
-
I'm waiting to hear from London about my Trolley Song orchestration. I emailed the pdf of the score yesterday afternoon.
-
Today I'm back to the choral piece. Medleys are a bear when all three songs are in the same key of G, so your possible keys are only in the F, F-sharp, G, A-flat, A, B-flat range. It would be great to have had at least one song in C or D.
-
Color me frustrated.
-

Or perhaps he had/has a personal issue. Why not reach out to him to see how he is
-
Good morning, all.
-
Had one short dream involving some discovery I'd made about the boom-chick piano part in "One".
-
And since that post won't set the world on fire, I can say that I've got a mountain of things to attend to today and I must get started soon.
-
A big lotto win would come in handy right about now.
Other than that, I have no news. Back later!
-
Good morning.
-
I have nothing to report. Which is always a good thing at 6:49 a.m.
-
Good morning there is nothing to report here either. Tomorrow will be an Aldi's Day.
Eight pages last night.
A Loretta-Patsy tv film might be nice - but not in the Lifetime mode....
-
I enjoy some of Quentin Tarantino films, but when he completely changed history and messed up ON PURPOSE things that happened during WWII, it was very hard on me.
Because the fan boys will say it happened THAT way - since history is not taught in schools the way it used to be....
As the director said in LYLAH CLARE: "We say she died this way in the movie, and everyone will think that is what happened...."
A lot of people still think Jean Harlow died of pneumonia.....
-
TOD:
The one we saw the most POPEYE - I liked the later Paramount ones, some were mini musicals - but the Max Fleischer ones were a chore...
Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny were favorites.
Hated Little Lulu and Baby Hughy.....
-
T.O.D.
Just about anything from Warner Bros.: Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, The Road Runner, Tweety & Sylvester, etc.
Nobody did it better.
-
TOD:
I really liked Milton the Monster, but mostly I liked the theme song, which I still know by heart.
-
Good morning to all
-
I'm of the Saturday morning generation with three networks. If memory serves CBS had the best cartoons, but I also liked the live action ones like HR Puffenstuff, The Bugaloos and The Banana Splits which had mini-series within the program itself.
-
Good morning.
-
I used to have a pair of cartoon shorts. They were the ones with the draw string.
-
Just one more!
-
Page Two
-
T.O.D.
ROCKY AND BULWINKLE
DUDLEY DO-RIGHT
MR. PEABODY AND HIS BOY, SHERMAN
FRACTURED FAIRY TALES
-
T.O.D. Part 2
Some of the old World War II cartoons which they still showed us, very confused children, back in the 1950's.
-
Good morning, all.
-
T.O.D.
ROCKY AND BULWINKLE
DUDLEY DO-RIGHT
MR. PEABODY AND HIS BOY, SHERMAN
FRACTURED FAIRY TALES
A beautiful list. My only addition would be Underdog.
-
If Margaret Mitchell wanted me to like Scarlett, why did she make her a Southerner?
-
I like DR TCB's list, too.
-
I watched a version of Vanity Fair last week with that great actress Reese Witherspoon - and certainly it brought up shadows of Gone With The Wind....
-
Not that Reese is Vivian or even Vivian adjacent.....
-
Good afternoon!
-
Hello, everyone.
-
DR George, thanks for the information the other night about the tortillas. I'll look for them.

I never saw The Bugaloos, but I remember HR Puffenstuff and The Banana Splits. My sister and I had the Banana Splits soundtrack album, and a few years ago, I bought the CD (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DPKQE3Y/)...but not for the price that's on Amazon right now! :o
-
Add me to the list of the sleep-deprived. Instead of one or two poor nights a week I've had four or five in the last week or so. Ugh!
-
I just learned, too, that my Discover card was compromised. A $557 charge to someplace I've never heard of. Discover has very good customer service and will overnight the new card if you request it, which I did. But I do a LOT of online shopping and this card number is embedded many places. Sigh.
-
TOD:
I watched many, but the only real favorite was The Flintstones. It was so cute and clever. My parents watched it, too.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:(

If Margaret Mitchell wanted me to like Scarlett, why did she make her a Southerner?
:D
-
Yes, George, it happens a lot, unfortunately.
-
But I prefer using credit cards than carrying a lot of cash. And, of course, you have to in order to shop online.

I also watched (in no particular order):
Yogi Bear
Popeye
Daffy Duck
Bugs Bunny
Road Runner and Wyle E. Coyote
Yosemite Sam

Regarding yesterday's TOD, many years ago I was upset with a close friend, who I considered my best friend. She and I had often talked about being candid and able to talk about anything. But when I told her that I was unhappy with her it ended the friendship. I don't yell at people or call them names, but I was hurt and disappointed in her behavior. I later felt I was naive for being candid, but we had talked about openness a number of times.
That was a sad lesson for me. I am now more careful about what I say, knowing that people can be irrational, can get hurt, and, I think, few people really know how to handle delicate situations.
-
Oh, yes, Popeye. What a classic!
-
Popeye was one of the first, at least that I was aware of.
-
I was glad to read that Vixmom is feeling content. I hope the contentment remains.
-
Sleep-deprived or not, I need to take care of some things.
TTFN.

Thank you, DR George! In this afternoon's post I received a check from Dublin's RTE Orchestra for €200.00/ My bank tells me it may take six weeks to get the money converted to dollars.

I've been through this madness too many times, so I offer you my complete sympathy and share your rage. Hopefully, that card and its account are no longer in existence. It's just a pain filling in the new info on all the sites you've used it.

Credit card vibes for DR Jeanne!
-
Three!
-
Financial vibes for Elmore and the rest of us.

Strange story today anout Felicity Hiffman and the Full House actress trying to pull strings for their kids’ education. Who would want to be in those kids’ shoes now?
-
I had to file an internal gripe today. Apparently my employer advertises on Tucker Carlson’s show. And we’re supposed to be promoting how diverse we are!
-
Not going to let that pass.
-
I’m ushering for the nonunion tour of Wizard of Oz. Webber-Rice tunes that have no reason to exist alongside the great Harburg-Arlen tunes.
-
One doesn't wish bad fortune arbitrarily, but I wish it wholeheartedly to anyone who steals someone's cc information and uses it. VERY bad fortune, always and forever, like Cats.
-
I'm up - I did manage to get eight hours of sleep, but then had to get in the motor car and do stuff that needed doing. No packages, but several important envelopes arrived all at once, so that was great and I did some banking and then had a Cobb salad for the meal o' the day.
-
Listening to Faure, whose music I love.

Mostly...I have to confess that I do like "Red Shoe Blues (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvm3xmf4FPY)" (obvious cuts in the video notwithstanding).
-
HERE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1__1icx-e98) is (covertly taken tour footage of) the whole "Red Shoe Blues" sequence with Jacquelyn Piro Donovan as the Wicked Witch.

Birdy Barnum is now getting a crash course in Disco.

I remember this number from The Act as if it was yesterday, especially Roger Minami, the dancer. Wonder what happened to him - he is genius in this number. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NVwaK_sjGE

Well, according to the bio in his IMDb listing (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0590924/?ref_=fn_nm_nm_1), he's become a painter:
....In 1996, Minami decided to give up the hectic pace of show business and took up residence in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where he has embarked on his third career... painter.
With homes in Santa Monica, California, Vancouver, and Puerto Vallarta, he has a varied source of inspiration for his work. His paintings reflect the color of Mexico combined with the flair of show business and has provided yet another creative outlet for this multi-talented man.
-
Well, it's time for me to head home by way of my sister's house. She's got some Girl Scout cookies that she doesn't want, so I'll take them.
Be back later.

Thank you all for the vibes. A search indicated that my credit card was charged to a crowdfunding organization in India. The crowdfunding part came as a surprise.
-
Strange story today anout Felicity Hiffman and the Full House actress trying to pull strings for their kids’ education. Who would want to be in those kids’ shoes now?
Yes, the parents who were trying to help their kids have damaged their kids' reputations instead.
-

Good for you.

Very tired.

-
Oh, I should mention that I've been watching MANHUNT, a British police drama starring Doc Martin himself, Martin Clunes, on Acorn TV. It's quite riveting.
-
That's it for me.
Good night.
-
I agree with all the cartoons mentioned and would add Mighty Mouse and Heckle and Jeckle. And even they aren't cartoons, I also add Beany and Cecil.
-
Let's move on ...
-
Four!
-
Page four? Really?
-
Well, they didn't do the Webber-Rice version of Wizard of Oz after all.
-
They did the movie with all the versions and a couple of the cut songs, The Jitterbug and If I Only Had the Nerve.
-
The first act of the show was good. The second was really lackluster.
-
And maybe it was the orchestration, but "The Jitterbug" sounded an awful lot like "Last Midnight" from "Into the Woods."
-
The understudy played Dorothy. She was OK, but a little too American Idol. The dog was excellent.
-
But the show was long. 2.5 hours of long. In the second act that meant counting down the scenes until the bitter end.
-
Had some bread pudding.
-

-

You got that backwards, John. "The Jitterbug" was written almost 50 years before "The Last Midnight." ;)
-

Well, I got three and a half boxes of GS cookies from my sister. Yummy! A couple of boxes are now in my freezer for much later.
-
When I left, I decided to do a little shopping.

DITTO!

I was thinking about getting some kind of an electric heating pad for my cat, so I figured I'd start at Walmart, since that was closest to my sister's house.
-
Add me to the list of the sleep-deprived. Instead of one or two poor nights a week I've had four or five in the last week or so. Ugh!
If I don't get some sleep soon I will have xaught up to you.
-
I didn't find any kind of heating pad though.
-
Hi, Jane.
-
But at Walmart, I did find seven, count 'em, SEVEN shirts! :D
-
After purchasing those, I went to Fred Meyer.
-
I didn't find any kind of heating pad there, either.
-
But I did get a little shelf unit to go behind my toilet...and it was half price!
-
Originally $39.99, marked down to $19.99!
-
I think it might've been a return because the contents made noise when I picked it up. ::)
-
HOPEFULLY, there are no missing parts!
-
I'll try to assemble it soonly so that if any parts are missing, I can return it.
-
PAGE FIVE DANCE!!

That is sad you lost your friend instead of her working it out with you. I have had a few of those losses because of not talking.
When I was 18 my best friend told me I did something that hurt her feelings. I listened and apologized. We are still the best of friends.

I wonder if it is legit.

Where is Jane? She likes eBooks?
I have been having fun with Asland friends. Tonight we had a delicious dinner with our old neighbor that recently visited us.
-
There is a restaurant here that has the, by far, best edamame.
-
We had some time on our own to walk around and explore our favorite shops. On and off it hailed or rained and at times the sun even came out.
-
Fingers crossed tomorrow morning is nice for our hike with my hiking group.

Hi, Tom.
-
Hello, George.
-
Sorry, I was listening to Colbert’s monologue.
-
Another nothing day in Tacoma.
-
I did go out to breakfast at a place in Lakewood called Moonrise.
-
It was very good. They make their own raspberry and blackberry jam, which they also sell by the jar.
-
Well, crap. My new tablet just froze and I haven't been able to do anything on it!
-
It was very tasty jam, but I normally don’t keep jam in the house.
-

I'm on my older tablet right now.

Glad it is working again.
