Well, you've read the notes, the notes were written by we three - me, myself, and I - and now it is time for you to post until the three cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: RESPLENDENT!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
First post after Dino.
-
Second post after Dino.
-
Well, good night all.
-
First female post after Dino.
-
George, did you go back to see our waiter?
-
A bientot ya'll
-
George, did you go back to see our waiter?
No. But I'll have to go back soon. They're having a special deal that if you buy a $50 gift card, you get a free bonus $10 gift card! The original $50 gift card will never expire, but the $10 bonus card expires in a couple of weeks, so I need to use it before it expires.
-
Good night, jan and Tom.
-
Today, I'm having lunch with my friend Margo and her friend (who is now my friend, too) Marsha. Marsha and I have the same birthday (May 5), and so we've all been having a birthday lunch together for quite a few years.
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR vixmom, what a great day for you!
-
I have lots of work today. I'd like to get 2.5 numbers finished today. The obstacles arte three cats, all of whom love to climb on my worktable and help me make decisions, and my urge to nap.
-
Speaking of three cats, Stella and Thatch have spent the morning, while I prepared their breakfast and my coffee, romping and running around together. Last night I caught Annabelle grooming her. 14 days and all is good.
-
A fortnight!
-
Good morning, all.
-
And a happy Memorial Day to the lot of yez.
-
No big plans for the day. Nathan and Kristi just have a thing to do this morning which they’re already off to. We’d intended to grill some burgers and dogs this afternoon, but the week has been so crazy we couldn’t even get to cleaning the grill for its first use this season, so we’re invoking the recent fried chicken TOD and getting a bucket of KFC or maybe Stew Leonard’s “southern fried”. No muss, no fuss.
-
Tomorrow morning we will all be up early to drive out past New Haven for the funeral of Kristi’s great-uncle who was 95.
-

This is heartwarming.
-
DR Vixmom that was an unusual temple you attended.
-
Tomorrow evening I’m off to the Bedford Playhouse to see DOUBLE INDEMNITY which I’m totally looking forward to.
I don’t know if this one is a 4k deal, but no matter. It’ll just be great to see it perfectly presented in this theater. It would be especially nice if Robert Harris is there for it. We shall see.
-
And that’s the start of my week. I think I’m pretty free after that until the weekend when we have our band rehearsal and sitzprobe for Disaster!
-
Annabelle and I have made our patrol after Stella proved a complete nuisance to my cleaning the litter boxes. I need a run to the corner bodega for the eggs I forgot to purchase last week before I settle in to work.
-
Good morning, all.

-
I’m sure I’ll think of some more. How far back are we going?
-
vixmom - Did you see the "Viva Max!" reading, in January 2018, a month before the 54 Below show.
That was at the Actors Temple on W. 47th St between 8th and 9th.
-
T.O.D.
I've listened to the original cast recordings of some, but have not really seen any recent new musicals.
Frankly, the scores didn't do anything for me.
The last 2 musicals I really liked were LES MIZ and RAGTIME.
What was that? 30-40 years ago?
I've got the CD of THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY. That's pleasant, but....
Back in the day, a hit musical would produce 2-3-4-5 songs that would become stand alone hits.
Most shows today, that I'm familiar with, don't even produce one.
:(

Oh yes I did . Iwasalso there once before for a school trip the Vixter did in high school , it was a Shakespeare festival where different school groups prepared a scene from a Shakespeare play and performed it for the others then a couple of professional actors gave them suggestions and discussed the scene.
But I was never there for a religious service
-
Oh I almost forgot, for you foodies...yesterday's meal
Peking duck crepe with house salad and cafe aux lait
-
Dessert was charlotte aux frais
-
HA! Now I'm hungry.
-
I am not sure about the new IBDB website.....I shall have to use it a bit in order to make my mind up....
-
A very good Indy 500 yesterday.....only one injury - a pit crew member....a spectacular crash near the end with NO injuries....no rain delays.
And one of the good guys won.....the second place guy was a hot head member of the Andretti team, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I don't get the love and worship for that jerk....he always has been and always will be a jerk, a sore loser, and a cheater....
-
I haz spoken.
-
The TOD is most interesting.
Like DR DRUXY, I haven't seen a LOT of new type musicals. I see the songs on the Tony Awards....and mostly it's "meh."
However I have purchased CD's of a few in the last couple of seasons that I liked....more or less:
The Great Comet....it's a favorite
Gentleman's Guide to Murder
Dear Evan Hanson.....but I don't worship at its altar
Bandstand....with some fun faux big band songs and a nice story....
I will leave you with ALL of the Disney cartoon retreads and most of the movies on stage....no interest in TOOTSIE or BEETLEJUICE....or those of its kind.
No interest in THE PROM either....
-
.....or MEAN GIRLS.....
-
Lovely day today.
I do not have rehearsal tonight.....so I get to stay home. Birdy Barnum is very happy.
-
Oh my.....I just watched a POV video of the It's a Small World ride at Disneyland....had to turn it off 1:53 seconds in....I was getting motion sickness....
-
DR TCB I mentioned the same thing to our Send Me No Flowers director. I said he might want to use Doris Day singing at the end for the last moment and the bows.....
She will be hanging over the entire evening....and our leading lady certainly doesn't give any Doris....she won't watch the movie because she thinks her comedy stylings are impeccable - she is good---but she is NOT Doris.
I am hoping the director will go along with that one concession.
-
The only current movie-to-stage adaptation I wouldn't mind seeing (like, if someone laid a ticket on me) is BEETLEJUICE, because I think I'd find seeing those characters and situations acted out on stage very enjoyable if done well. And that's all I can surmise, since I've not heard one word or one note of it.
-
Vixmom, congratulations on carving out a great day for yourself yesterday. We all need to do that kind of thing now and then.
Where was the meal had?
-
What? It’s been two and a half hours since I posted that?
What do you think this is, a national holiday or something?
-
The most notable part of this Memorial Day is that, apparently, hardly anyone remembers how to get to HHW!!
-
Turning into a really nice day today.
-
The skies are a beautiful deep blue, with no clouds at all.
-
It is very quiet out on Pearl Street. I guess the normal park goers are either out of town, or they overslept.
-
I shouldn't comment on the T.O.D., because I really don't know that much about music; but when has that ever stopped me. I used to say that in community theater there were two types of performers in musicals; singers who could act and actors who could sing. Lately, I have found there are also a lot of singers who can't act and actors that can't sing. Oh well!
-
I have always been in the category of an actor who can sing. I don't really read music, especially in the bass clef. I used to sing in my mom's choir in junior high, and I played clarinet all through school. I remember one of my band teachers tried to switch me over to playing the bassoon. It didn't work, because I couldn't make heads or tails out of the bass clef.
-
I tried taking a music theory class in high school, but I eventually transferred to a different foreign language class that was easier -- English.
-
I have an okay singing voice, but I have given a great many music directors gray hair getting me to that point.
-
I like some of the newer musicals, but I basically prefer the classic musicals. I guess I am going to have to break down and see HAMILTON, because just listening to the OBC doesn't really move me. Actually, I didn't like the cast album of SWEENEY TODD until I had seen the show on Broadway.
-
I am not sure what a counts as new musical. I love the scores of TITANIC and RAGTIME, but newer shows like NEXT TO NORMAL and SPRING AWAKENING don't do a thing for me.
-
That is one advantage of having Sirius radio in my car, because I keep it tuned to the Broadway channel. That way I can hear some of the songs from the new shows, but in small doses, and without having to buy the CD. I like most of the music I have heard from COME FROM AWAY, but there is also a sameness to all of the songs, to the point that I can usually spot a song from that show in the first eight bars.
-
Actually, I don't believe I have been in eight bars in the last 25 years!
-
One more post.

I'm up, I'm up - eight and a half hours of sleep.

Hello!
-
Nice photos yesterday, DR vixmom!
-
Vixmom, congratulations on carving out a great day for yourself yesterday. We all need to do that kind of thing now and then.
Where was the meal had?
I lovely restaurant right next door to the theatre, cafe un deux troi.
It was not a cheap meal but it wasn't overly expensive either
-
They also very kindly accommodated my menu change requests, the Peking duck was supposed to served on a baguette with fries, I requested the crepe and salad instead and they did so at no additional charge
-
Oh I also like BRIGHT STAR.....

It was a beautiful warm day today, as I discovered when I finally ventured outside at 5 pm
-
Vixdad continues hacking and sneezing, moaning and being miserable
-
I spent the day going through 26 years of photos and choosing, scanning and cropping themfor Vixters wedding video
-
I've scanned about 120 so far and I'm not done yet
-
Dinner is Chinese takeout
-
General Tso chicken for Vixdad
-
Moo shu chicken for me

Monday evening greetings! Richard went to the Memorial Day service at our local cemetery and then we went to Mariemont, a Cincinnati suburb, to hear our friend Rick play the carillon. We visited with him for a bit and came home by way of a car dealership that was closed (which was how I wanted it!). We scoped out the vehicle I’ve been looking at online and tomorrow we’ll go back to shop in person.
-
I've scanned about 120 so far and I'm not done yet
Does the groom’s Mom get to contribute some photos, too? ;)
-
Dinner is Chinese takeout
Our lunch was take-out from Izzy’s deli, which we ate as a picnic while listening to the carillon.

I think Richard and I went there once - and liked it.

Vibes you stay well.
-
Where in Mariemont is the carillon, DR Ginny?
-
We ate breakfast with Craig and then walked to a small indoor gallery of shops. While Craig was making a small purchase he added a keychain I was holding to his items ;)
-
We then walked back to the hotel with a few stops until Craig found an Expo shirt he liked. Since he had already checked out we all returned to our room.
-
Bryan & Kate checked out of their room and joined us. We chatted until Craig had to leave.
-
Then we walked over to a vintage store Kate wanted to check out. It was a large shop in an old building with a floor that buckled in so many places it felt a bit like a rolling ship.
I know DR Jrand and a few more of you would enjoy shopping in this store.
-
From there we had to check out a few breweries. I dislike beer and had a wine in the first location which was only worthy of a few sips.
At the second stop Bryan convinced me to try a white wine cooler. It was refreshing and half a tall glass quenched my thirst.
-
Walking back through Chinatown we stopped for a late lunch at a highly rated noodle restaurant. We watched them twirl and shape the noodles by hand, super cool and fun to watch.
-
Our appetizer was a small seaweed and potato salad, different and yummy.
-
The veggie noodle bowl was fantastic! I am not normally a fan of noodle soup bowls and ate twice as much as normal.
-
Where in Mariemont is the carillon, DR Ginny?
DR ChasSmith, it’s in Dogwood Park, right off Wooster Pike. We park on Pleasant Street, roll all the windows down, and enjoy the concert from our car. There are concerts every Sunday at 7pm and on holidays at 2.
-
I've scanned about 120 so far and I'm not done yet
Does the groom’s Mom get to contribute some photos, too? ;)
I imagine she's doing the same thing on her end and we're giving them all to the kids to assemble. There are screens in the reception room so I think the idea is to just have them running throughout the night
-
Yes DR JANE it sounds like my kind of place.
-
The gentleman who lived behind me has passed away. His visitation is tomorrow.....
Very nice people. They moved into the house a few years ago when he retired.....rode a motorcycle and loved his doggies.....
He had heart and lung problems....and he and Myrtle were still BOTH heavy smokers.....he was 72.
-
I've got another hour's worth of work tonight. I'll work a bit before I take Stella to the vet tomorrow. and probably work most of tomorrow night to be ready for Wednesday's rehearsal.
-
I got a text from our Moonshine and Mistletoe producer. Things are stirring and fingers are crossed.
-

It really is.

FINGERS CROSSED!
-
Keith is almost completely packed. I am mostly packed, as much as possible until tomorrow. We don't have to check out until 4:00pm but will probably leave for the airpirt sooner.
-
Keith likes to be at the airport early. Our flight isn't until 8:00. We will likely eat dinner there.

I think I have the CD of GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO MURDER, but I listened to in once, maybe 3-4 years ago, and I don't recall any songs from it.
-
I think I have BRIGHT STAR, too.
But, once again, I don't recall any of the songs.
-
I guess they don't write memorable songs any more.
Note that I said "memorable," not "good".
-
Moonshine and Mistletoe vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
I got a text from our Moonshine and Mistletoe producer. Things are stirring and fingers are crossed.
Vibes for Elmore and this fine project.
-
Good evening.
-
I am not sure what a counts as new musical. I love the scores of TITANIC and RAGTIME, but newer shows like NEXT TO NORMAL and SPRING AWAKENING don't do a thing for me.
Spring Awakening is 13 years old and has already been revived on Broadway. Hardly new. That's why I was wondering how far back this should go.
A few others to mention from at least the last 10 years: I liked the scores to Kinky Boots, Here Lies Love, Levi and Carol Christmas. I also liked some of what John Kander had to offer in Kid Victory and The Landing and some of Andrew Lloyd Webber's score for School of Rock.
-
Had a nice dinner with friends. Pam retired on Friday and decided to cook tonight. She made a pepper dinner. Pepper-crusted lamb and a chocolate cake with black pepper-chocolate ganache on top. They were recipes from a book I'd given her for her birthday called Eight Flavors.
-
They also gave me a couple of garlic plants, which might help keep the mosquitoes away. Apparently bugs don't like the aroma.
-
Anybody know anything about a movie called Frank and Ava, about Sinatra and Gardner?
-
I have watched the third part of Shoah: Four Sisters. In this part, Paula Biren does her best to keep it all together throughout her talk, but you can see the tears form in her eyes. She won't let the emotion, though, get into her voice or her story. It's the survival mechanism she seems to have learned in the camp, and she was using it 30 years later.
-
Good night, all.
-
Today, I'm having lunch with my friend Margo and her friend (who is now my friend, too) Marsha. Marsha and I have the same birthday (May 5), and so we've all been having a birthday lunch together for quite a few years.
The co-birthday lunch today was good. We went to Budd Bay Cafe (http://www.buddbaycafe.com/) and sat outside. The weather was perfect...warm but not too warm , and a slight breeze as we sat outside by the water.
-
We met at 1:30 (I got there a little late) and didn't leave until about 4:30. We ate and chatted and drank lots of diet Pepsi.
-
I had the Rajun’ Cajun Caesar Salad with blackened chicken and shared the Mile High Chocolate Cake for dessert. The Caesar dressing was a little thinner than I'm used to, but it was good.
-
After that, I went to my sister's to help her with organizing some things in her garage. Then I came home.
-
I'm now watching A Discovery of Witches (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2177461/reference), and recording it onto my DVD burner. I'm making the DVD for a co-worker. Otherwise I'd just watch the show.
-
My co-worker (whose name is also George) and his wife really enjoy the show. I like it, but I'm mainly just watching it for Matthew Goode who stars in the show more than the show itself. ;)
-
And since we're so close...

Packing and moving vibes for TCB
-
I scanned and edited about 230 pictures today....hopefully I will finish up tomorrow evening
-
I was going to start on Saturday but I hadn't used my laptop in a long time and when turned it on the t wanted to do a bunch of updates ( which took forever)
-
Then it downloaded all my emails.... to the tune of neatly 60,000
-
I mistyped nearly but not the figure, it was 59, 764
-
So of course I had to clean that up and that basically killed doing any work on Saturday
-
Had a fun Kritzerland rehearsal and then a looooooong dinner meeting that lasted two and a half hours.
-
Then of course I ran away to the city for a solo play date instead of doing my chores on Sunday
-

God bless your heart, George. Thank you for the picture of Matthew Goode!

It definitely was my pleasure, jan!

So that is a picture of Matthew Goode. I thought that was a picture of the waiter from Applebee’s.
-
Good evening, West Coasters!
-
So that is a picture of Matthew Goode. I thought that was a picture of the waiter from Applebee’s.
Sadly, no. The waiter was cute, but not Matthew Goode cute.
-
I have nothing to say tonight.

Hi, Tom.

-
I wanted to know if you have a keychain from Montreal.
-
Do you have any from Paris?
-
Hi, Jane.
-
I think Tom needs his eyes checked. 'Course Matthew looks cuter with longer hair.
-
I may or may not have key chains from Montreal or Paris. I don't know off the top of my head. But I certainly don't mind if I get multiple key chains from the same place. There really isn't any chance of duplication.
