Yesterday was a bloodbath at the New York Animal Care Centers.  Two dogs were murdered at the Manhattan shelter, one of them, Bobby Brown, a poor dog who was brought in last week after being hit by a car.  After ascertaining that there were no broken bones, only bruises and abrasions, they drugged the dog, waited a week, and killed him.  He must have been in terrible pain all week.  The other poor dog was killed at the Brooklyn shelter.

All three needed time to decompress and help with their fears and anxieties at being confined to a cage in those hellholes, not a lethal injection and an exit in a black plastic bag.

On the subject of standing in line - I looked back at some scribbles I'd written back then.  The line for seeing that first NYC day of "The First Nudie Musical" on 68th and 3rd was long, but actually pretty orderly as lines go, and everybody seemed happy to be seeing it.

Everything seems to be much more of a tumult and a tsimmis about lines than 40 years ago.  Sometimes, these days, I think they use the lining up as a faux sign of the event's popularity.

When lining up started, they kept showing the simple lines of people waiting to get into the performance as if they were lines to buy tickets.  (which most people by 2000 or 2001 seemed to be doing by phone or online.)

Ten minute plays.....there was a play-writing class at a theater I was involved with at one time in which the instructor (who wrote awful plays herself) had the students write a short play that had to include a bottle of ketchup, a cat, and an umbrella....

Which to me was the dumbest thing I've ever heard....I never took her class....and had three of my plays produced at that theater.

Thanks, Jane.  I did get a little sleep.  I took him to his home in Seattle and stayed there with him.  I'm now sitting in my car getting ready to go back down to Olympia.  He's still very sad (of course), but he won't need to go back to the hospital.  Today, he's going to go to church, then go to work.  He has a lot to deal with, but I think the worst of it is over.

I need to get back home, feed my cat, take my meds (that I missed last night...but it's not the end of the world), take a shower, change clothes, and hie myself downtown to help my sister and the PFLAG group set up the tent for their booth for today's Pride event.  She's expecting me there by 9:00 am, so I'd better be going!

Thanks to an overly rambunctious Stella this morning i am about an hour behind schedule.  She has managed so far today to overturn one water bowl, one dish of dry food, climb to the top of a bookcase and bring down its contents, which I just replaced with a ladder. Between her and Annabelle, it's been a hectic morning.  Little Thatch is keeping out of the way.

I had to take a break.  In the Promenade parts, the number "Bliss I" is about 70 bars long in 3/4, only the bass - or is it the drums part? - is about 16 bars long in 2/4!  My head hurts.

Now, in the old days had I come to the computer and seen the Time Machine/Airport router blinking yellow I would have panicked and not known what to do.  But I have learned, oh, yes, I have learned.  I simply went to Airport Utility and did the firmware update it was asking for and voila.  Green light.

I'm now in the Olympia Little Theatre audience waiting for Daphne's Dive to start at 1:55.  So far, it's about half filled, but people are still coming in.

Just two minutes ago, the electricity shut off for two seconds - enough to shut off the damn computer, though.  Nothing else was really affected, in terms of clocks having to be reset.  And here I am three minutes later and things are still loading.

I also read that a theater in D.C. is going to do a 24-hour reading of the Mueller Report, Vol. 2, on Jan. 11 with live streaming. I am going to try to watching some of that. They're using local politicians as well as members of the company. What a great civic service.

I just found out there's a book called Highway Patrol locations, then and now.  It shall be mine.  Meanwhile, the latest two episodes had two motels, both on Sepulveda way north near Devonshire, one of which, the Panorama, is still there.  Then the other episode, which starred Clint Eastwood, was on Topanga up by Devonshire.

LOL... I am not a drinker...when we have our occasional wine tasting ventures ( like once a year)  we have to spend several hours there, have lots of food and I literally have a sip of each wine ...the bourbon kicked me like a mule

Thanks, Jane.  I did get a little sleep.  I took him to his home in Seattle and stayed there with him.  I'm now sitting in my car getting ready to go back down to Olympia.  He's still very sad (of course), but he won't need to go back to the hospital.  Today, he's going to go to church, then go to work.  He has a lot to deal with, but I think the worst of it is over. 

After I got home today after the Pride event, I was able to chat with David.  He did go to church and to work.  When he got home, his soon-to-be-ex-wife was there (unexpectedly), but they were able to talk a bit and I guess lay down some ground rules, so there was a little progress there.
