Well, you've read the notes, the notes were peculiar, and now it is time for you to post until the peculiar cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ACQUISITIVE!
-
Still no new injuries DR Jan 😊
-
I wish I was sleeping. I need to be alert tomorrow morning for a gathering with some of the women in our building.
-
First post after Jane's second post.
;)
-
Unlike Bruce I am unable to nap for 2 hours duri g the day.
-
First post after Jane's second post.

Nice photos in the notes.

I will leave around 9:30 this morning. On my way to Carroll Studios I will stop at Pildes Optical and pick up my new glasses.
-
Before I leave here, I need to get the ladder and pull more cans of Fancy Feast. By the time I get home the babies will be starving and I want to be ready. I don't want to climb a ladder with the three of them dancing around my feet. I'd worry about stepping on, or dropping a can on, one of them.
-
T.O.D.
I've known and/or represented innumerable celebrities over the decades, but I would say that the one I had the most "fun" with was Bridget Hanley.
Why?
Because Bridget and I knew each other and were friends in college (U of Washington), so that relationship was there before we entered a business relationship.
Yes, many of my other clients became good friends, but since the business relationship had come first, it was never quite the same as it was with Bridget.
It also helped that Bridget, at heart, was a "goof," and you couldn't help but love her for it.
-
Annabelle wants to patrol.
-
And we have made our patrol. Annabelle saw the neighbor in 4D who petted her and praised her, so she's quite content now.
-
The City Center direct deposit has landed, so that's a big relief.
-
Yay for direct deposit.

Feel better vibes for DR Ginny!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good $$$ news from DR ELMORE - have a less stressful day!
-
Great photos in the notes!
-
My thermostat will NOT turn on my heat pump - so I don't have AC....and it's going to be 90 degrees for the next three days....a call has been placed....we shall see what happens....as we swelter.

TOD:
MR BK and former DR CHARLES POGUE....LOL...

My thoughts this morning have been in the area of classical music, and I see that DR Elmore and I share a fun celebrity: Roberta Peters.
I didn't get to know her, but I was around her during a week of rehearsals when she sang RIGOLETTO with us at Meadowbrook in 1968. That cast included Jan Peerce, who was also extremely personable and even humorous, as he was a few years later in our DON GIOVANNI.
Another opera singer I was around for a while when playing a few rehearsals (I want to say this was for Schoenberg's GURRELIEDER around, um, 1975?), Nico Castel, was a very friendly and humorous guy...as well he might have been, having been known for great character singing and acting.
I was also quite taken with Nike Wagner (the man's great-granddaughter? - I need to review my history) who spent some time in Cleveland and we enjoyed a few meals and conversations with her. I have no idea what she is, or was, REALLY like, otherwise, but at that time she was young (well, duh, weren't we all), attractive, friendly, and even a bit funny.
Will try to come up with a few from other celebrity worlds later, but I can't close the subject on the classical world without a fond shout-out for the singularly warm and witty Arthur Loesser.
(EDIT: I typed FRANK Loesser at first! Oy!) :)

Heat pump vibes for DR Jrand68!

Thanks DR CHAS SMITH - I just tried it again AND IT CAME ON!

Loved the photos in the notes.

Red Skeleton wasn’t as fun or funny as he thought he was.
Gary Sandy was the only one who wanted to go out and have a beer.
-
TOD2:
Bobby Short was all champagne and fizz. He could have been anything and I would have probably loved it.
-
TOD 3:
In interview setups, most celebrities are “on.” A few exceptions were Rosemary Clooney, Pat Carroll and Lena Horne, who was pleased anyone was still interested in her Cotton Club days.
-
TOD 4
Hands-down winner was Cloris Leachman, who asked if I wanted the G-rated or X/rated interview. I chose the X and didn’t stop laughing for an hour. I couldn’t use a single sentence she said, and it didn’t matter.

The City Center direct deposit has landed, so that's a big relief.
Hoo and Ray!!

Thanks DR CHAS SMITH - I just tried it again AND IT CAME ON!

It is an indeed an experience DR JOHN G and I would recommend anyone take advantage of the opportunity.....LOL
-
The man came by and told me that the heat pump doesn't always starts running immediately when it is turned on - sometimes it takes up to 10 minutes.....
I said okay.....so I'll turn it on and wait.....although I don't imagine in will be off anytime in the next few days...

Thursday afternoon greetings! Our only DAR activity today was a lovely historic preservation luncheon where the guest speaker was Mary Oehrlein (say “airline”). She’s the historic preservation officer for the Architect of the U. S. Capitol and her topic was the recent restoration of the Capitol dome. The meal was very good and we sat with some nice ladies from Indiana.

We are about to leave to meet a college friend of Richard’s. I’ve never met him and Richard hasn’t seen him for 50+ years.

I'm up, I'm up - up at eleven after eight hours of sleep, but so many things willy-nilly and also nilly-willy - phone call to AFTRA about pension - no lump sum there, so I'm taking my tiny monthly. They were the most laughable union when I worked and the fact that they get away with this low a pension with the amount of AFTRA work I did, well... in fact, much of my income is hugely underreported. The Dinah summer replacement series - if one is to believe what was reported, I made under a grand per episode - absolutely impossible. I'm also pretty sure the Donny and Maries are either gone completely or underreported, I don't even see the Alice episode as that year reported no income - and their position is that I'd have to contact all those various companies and have them resubmit - yeah, that's gonna happen forty-five years later. SAG - no worries. DGA - no worries. AFTRA - sucks. And the fact that the pension stuff is not part of the SAG-AFTRA merger is both incompetent and much too obvious.
-
Then I went and had a Cobb Salad and bagel, then over to pick up a digital transfer of a three-quarter inch tape from Dinah and Her New Best Friends. I believe I have the ONLY surviving footage from that show. This one's a highlights reel of a longer tape, so I'm having the longer tape transferred, too, and I'm hoping that has my big song on it - I did I Write the Songs live (track was pre-recorded, but I sang live) and I'd love to see that. Should I put the highlights reel on the Tube of You? There's a weird Sonny and Cher spoof that Diana Canova and I do, there's a really funny sketch that Cindy and I do - we wrote it ourselves - there's some sketches I have no memory of that are funnier than I remembered, including a really funny one with Leland Palmer, and more, including the infamous Tap Your Troubles Away number with Cindy, Diana, and me. We were all so not great that they made the conceit that we were kids performing for some kind of tap show. And funnily, we're better than I remembered. Hugh Lambert choreographed.

Yes! Put them online! :D

Leland Palmer! Now I’m wondering what I ever saw her in, other than ALL THAT JAZZ which is always what comes to mind. I’d better look her up and find out.
EDIT: Nope, that would probably be it. Amazing. So let’s have some DINAH. By all means, please post that stuff. :)

Tap Your Troubles Away number with Cindy, Diana, and me. We were all so not great that they made the conceit that we were kids performing for some kind of tap show. And funnily, we're better than I remembered.
I liked it then (I'm sure I believed the conceit was what was intended) but it's even better than I remembered. :)

I always love that couple at 0:20 trying to sneak out unnoticed to get to the parking lot before the crowds and getting caught on camera in the stampede of dancers!
-
It's uploading now - YouTube is being its occasional retarded self and being VERY slow. So, it will probably be another thirty minutes. I'll post the link as soon as I have it. I'm not going to keep this up there for long - I may, in fact, want to do something with it - CBS never copyrighted anything of this show.
-
TOD 3:

I forgot Rosemary Clooney! She was delightful. I knew her son Rafael ling before I met her.

It was a good rehearsal. The original orchestra parts are an embarrassment, and still caused a lot of stops. We got through it all. It's a long score.

Still thirty minutes to go. I thought about just starting over and if I did it would probably upload in five minutes.

Now it's processing for another thirty-five minutes. I did attempt to open a new window and upload again but it said an hour, so maybe it's just the size.

I know! :))

Ladies, gents, and dear readers, I give you a clip reel from Dinah and Her New Best Friends. The set-up for the tap number is missing - it's that we're kids at an amateur dance studio doing a recital. They had to do that because none of us had ever tapped before. We're pretty damn good if you ask me. Choreography is by Hugh Lambert.

This is some great stuff! What a wonderful find.
-
I found some of the Playboy bits and those are being transferred, along with my cut of The Creature Wasn't Nice.

BK, I've having trouble hearing the video for some reason. Please don't take it down too soon.
-
I can hear faintly that it starts with "Silly Love Songs." Coincidentally, one my recent favorites has been Sonny and Cher (post-divorce, they make jokes about it) and Donny & Marie singing that song together.

-
Speaking of "Silly Love Songs" - I've been so amazed, BTW, that all these years, I just found out earlier this year that Linda McCartney is the "Linda" in the song "Linda." (as in I count all the charms about Linda - Linda's dad was the lawyer for the songwriter.)
-
Fun video, B.K.
-
I may have said that before, but it's a post. :)

I had to turn the sound WAY UP.

FJL, yes, make sure the sound is all the way - sound gets better as the video goes along. Since this compilation was made by my manager FROM the first generation tape, which I'm having transferred now, hoping that's better.

Got to cuddle Krista’s twins tonight. At five months, Eli now weighs 14 pounds while Olive weighs 12.

I wanna see that version of Creature.

I got several emails today that the power went out in the house.
-
It was back on when I got home.
-
It is a little warm in here, though.
-
I went to the acupuncturist today to address the pain in my lower back. It feels much better, but one needle seemed to enter the heart of darkness around the pain. It was, for a moment, excruciating. But it feels a bit better now.
-
I have to go back again Tuesday.

Interesting set of reviews for Encores' Working. The Times again didn't care much for the show and everybody else did. But I found the Times' reasons far more convincingly laid out than the others'.
-
Can we get off this page?
-
Will The Landlord ever end?
-
There is a hilarious scene in the movie of a car show in which all of the white, rich members are seen hat in hand while the national anthem plays in the background. The car is what they're worshiping.
-
Four!
-
Good evening.
-
Wae-Ling and I have been working on decluttering. We have removed eight bags of unneeded stuff so far.
-
That doesn't include the clothes I donated. I faced the reality that I will never fit into them again.

I don't know at what point Spaceship/Naked Space became an actual cult film but...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmxFGksQ3hg
This song has become very popular with drag queens and these potato chip eating kids. I laughed out loud. I'm gonna put up the song proper in its original screen ratio - does anyone know how to put in a DVD and make a quick time clip from it???
-
I wish I did.
-
Watching the extras of The Landlord. Beau Bridges is wearing the same psychedelic shirt he wore in the movie.
-
good night, all.
-
BK - I sent you the Boston Playbill page from "Woman of the Year" with the kid's bio. I hadn't recalled he was only 7!
-
Welcome to the theatre, kid!
-
I can't tell what point in the Boston run it's from, but maybe it was one of those numbers I just happened to see on a night they were still trying to keep the adopted-kid plot (that's in the film) from having to be expunged.
-
It's occurred to me that when a show is so leading lady-driven, a number getting as a nice a hand but Bacall's not in it might not have been a plus for the show overall. Not anything about ego, just might throw things off balance.
-
Trying the vixmom spread-the-story-out approach. Still getting the hang of it. :)
-
Interesting set of reviews for Encores' Working. The Times again didn't care much for the show and everybody else did. But I found the Times' reasons far more convincingly laid out than the others'.
Since I gather Larry was not part of this WORKING, I will say this:
this strikes me as so strange, and confirms and amplifies my feeling in my legal struggles with these scofflaws that the place is a favoritism world unto itself. They seem proud, as both are depicted in the show, that the person checking bags is the daughter of the main security person, and that a father and son both work in the box office. Let alone (which you shouldn't) that someone from outside who might be a lot better in those responsible positions did not get those jobs, and no search at all was done for the best person possible!
"Mr. Sillah and his daughter Fatou "
"Ron... a box office manager, and his son and co-worker, Jon"
Seriously, any accountant or HR person could expound on the disasters in the making of having relatives working together in the same job handling sales (father and son both work box office, anything goes wrong, they will band together) and a daughter reporting to her father the security head (oh my god if the daughter ever needs to be given a bad performance review by another employee; it's nearly a guarantee the daughter will stay and the person who complains about her will be gone).
At this venue, they're actually so proud of the nepotism that they put it in the show!
-
I repeat: Break out Gerard Alessandrini's classic line from Who Did They Know - "Judy and Liza were more than just friends."
-
FJL, yes, make sure the sound is all the way - sound gets better as the video goes along. Since this compilation was made by my manager FROM the first generation tape, which I'm having transferred now, hoping that's better.
Shute, I forgot to turn the sound down on my computer. I can't wait to jump 10 feet the next time I turn something with sound on ;D

Way to go.

Page four? Really?
-
REALLY?
-
DR TCB how are you today?
-
Listening to music. I checked out two of the new Twilight Time Blu-rays - Mother Wore Tights and Pin-Up Girl. I'm not a fan of these Betty Grable movies. Pin-Up Girl does feature a very large supporting performance by Muse Margaret's daddy, Dave Willock.
-
I am falling asleep.

'night.
-
I am going to bitch-slap some people from here to eternity and hell and back for their errant and truant ways and means.

I mean, page FOUR?

That is what I mean.

I gotta tell you.

There might be a way, but also it might depend if the DVD is copy-guarded or not.

Good evening.

Hi, Tom.
-
Page 5? Barely?
-
Hi, George.
-
George, it's not copy guarded - it's a home grown DVD. If you know a way, let me know.
-
Notes are written and I'm going to take a shower.
-
Let’s get crackin’.
-
Take a long shower, Bruce!
-
Hi, Tom, are you feeling better?
-
T.O.D.
Bruce, is indeed a charming and fun person to meet.
However, the most fantastic person I ever met was Colleen Dewhurst. The lady was in a class by herself. I was her dinner date(?) for an evening and it was heaven. The next day when I took her to the airport, when you could still take someone to their gate, after everyone in the terminal was aware she was there, she kissed me goodbye!
-
Hi, jan.
-
George, are you still here?
-
Did TCB watch the video?
-
Shower is done.
-
New topic is open.
-
And I must go to bed no later than one.
