Well, you've read the notes, the notes weren't enough, and now it is time for you to post until the once wasn't enough cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PHILANTHROPIC!
-
First post after BK.
-
I just got home from the theatre.
-
First Tracy and I went out for Chinese food at House of Kee, which is just down the road from me.
-
I think I prefer the Hong Kong, although the fried rice at House of Kee is much better.
-
Then it was off to see THE PRODUCERS, again.
-
When we saw it two weeks ago on a Saturday night the show was really good. Tonight, after having had five days off, and with it being the closing weekend, there just seemed to be a new sense of fun.
-
In other words, the show was even better tonight. It truly sparkled.
-
After the show, I really started to get that pain in my stomach that I get when I start to miss doing a show.
-
Damn! I hate this crippled shit.
-
There is so much theater that I still want to do.
-
Oh well, it is what it is.
-
Good night.
-
I'm home and in bed.
-
The game was fun...what we saw of it. Because it was Pride Night, we got to get in early and go to a special outdoor section and see a short concert by Mary Lambert (http://marylambertsings.com/). She's good, but the few songs that she chose all sounded too similar...most were ballads, but she was enjoyable. There was also free food at the mini concert! Mini corndogs and fruits and vegetables and potato chips. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. I didn't eat a lot, but I'm sure that it was too much.
-
The game itself started well and we enjoyed watching it. After the fourth inning started, we got up and walked around the stadium and decided to leave. The Mariners were winning, but unlike Whizzer (a Falsettos reference), I don't love baseball. So we left, went back to David's place for a bit and got my car.
-
We went to a couple of gay bars that David heard about that were about 15 minutes away from his place. He's not gay and I don't drink, but he wanted an inexpensive drink (he got a beer at each of the two places we went to), and he likes the vibe at gay bars in general, and he really liked these two places. I got some free diet Coke, so that was nice! :) Both bars were pretty loud, but we were able to talk and people-watch and we both really enjoyed the evening. After a while, I drove him home, then drove myself home, and now need to go to sleep.
-
I took more pictures, so I'll try to post some later in the afternoon, after I'm done with work.
Have a good day, all!
-
Damn! I hate this crippled shit.
:(
-
There is so much theater that I still want to do.
I wish there were more roles for you.
-
I am watching The Patty Duke Show because it is Saturday.....and because it is Season Three....they filmed in California and Mr. Troy Donahue is the guest star as a doctor that Patty has a crush on.....Cathy is jealous and is ready to move in on him....
-
MR BK had a busy day yesterday.
DR GEORGE was all over the place.....
-
Good morning, all!
-
Damn! I hate this crippled shit.
DR TCB, I share your pain. Yesterday, as I hobbled to the men's room at Carroll Studios, I said the same thing to one of the musicians.
-
I slept quite poorly. Around 4:00 this morning, I finally got out of bed and turned on the AC. I slept quite well after that. I remember fragments of a dream in which I was working in a hospital.
-
T.O.D.
1. 1948 Seattle earthquake. Neighbor's chimney wound up in our front yard.
2. 1970 Malibu fire. We had to evacuate; drive through fire. My (former) wife totaled her new car while escaping.
3. 1994 Los Angeles earthquake. Had to move out of my condo for 2 1/2 months while it was being repaired.
-
DR Jane I haven't gone to see anyone about my back. It is getting better each day. And I do have some pills for reducing inflammation that i have helped. Interestingly a lady in aqua fitness class gave me some homeopathic/natural pills(samples). And it didn't really make too much difference. But it helped my left knee that has been acting up a bit.
-
I must do some laundry this morning, and then I have the day to myself.
-
Funny & good abou t your knee DR Jennifer.
Healing vibes for both!
-
Saturday morning greetings! It's still hot and muggy here in SW Ohio, which keeps us inside more than cold weather in the winter. Summer is not my favorite season.
-
I did venture out yesterday to get my nails done and then Richard and I went for a late lunch and some errands. I took a long recliner nap when we got home.
-
DR Druxy driving through the fire must have been very scary, especially totaling the car. Did your ex have to abandon her car or did she manage to make it out first?
-
I think the only disaster I've lived through is my life.
-
I watched a scary video taken by a woman driving through the recent Malibu fire.
-
The only other "disaster" was the Aug. 14, 2003 East Coast blackout, which began around 5:00pm and lasted until maybe 3:00am, when all the power in my apartment returned. It was less a disaster and more an inconvenience.
-
Good morning, all.
-
TOD - In 2008, Hurricane Ike, which was expected to wallop the Gulf Coast, made its way instead to southwest Ohio and did significant wind damage. Lots of trees and power lines were down and the clean-up crews from here had been dispatched to Louisiana and Texas in anticipation of damage they did not receive. Because it took several days to get them (and their equipment) back here, we were without power for almost a week. Closest thing to a disaster I care to experience.
-
Slept 10 hours. It was lovely.
-
Vibes for Jennifer.
-
I think the only disaster I've lived through is my life.
You beat me to it.
-
Slept 10 hours. It was lovely.
I wish I could do that. Seven to eight is my limit...

Mom and Dad were without power for 11 days then.

I think yesterday’s acupuncture treatment helped. He did some of my allergy spots as well as my pinched nerve. Almost immediately I could breathe deeper. I think that helped.
-
I was on a clipper ship off the coast of Maine when Ike stormed through. We sailed into a supposedly safe port along with Ringo Starr’s yacht and a handful of other clippers. Trying to sleep through the storm was hard. Then everything went dead calm. Trying to sleep through that was more unnerving. The next day we sailed back to port a day early and the cruise ended.

We were in 2 different cars. I had my 1 year-old son, my wife's mother, teenage daughter and our cat with me. My wife had her son, other daughter, our dog and our pet rat with her.
We didn't know what happened to them for hours. I went with my car and passengers to my cousin's home in Brentwood. My wife and her kids "ran through flames" to escape.
Her car got towed. Found it and the pet rat (unharmed) the next day in the back seat. The dog was found running around in a field a day later.
Except for the totaled new car, thankfully insured, there was no other injuries.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Okay, so I was a minute late. I’m not taking it back! :)
-
It’s a busy busy BUSY Saturday. I have about an hour in which to stop running around and relax for a bit, and in so doing, I’m stealing that hour from something else.
-
We lived in Florida for a couple of the famous hurricanes of the early 1960s, but we never suffered any real damage that I know of.
My life in L.A. was perfectly positioned between the 1971 and 1994 earthquakes, so nothing to speak of there except for feeling various ones in between.
In 2011 and 2012, the Halloween Nor’easter and Hurricane Sandy caused considerable inconvenience, but we got ours in the May 2018 storm whose effects are still in evidence. And I don’t even want to “go there”.
-
I hope this is it for California for a while. Anything around 6+ and up to 7 or thereabouts is ENOUGH.
-
May I just say it is hotter than HELL here today?
It’s only 85, but the heat index is 93 and it’s humid as all get-out, so it really feels like the hottest day we’ve had so far.
-
Which makes it a perfect evening to sit in a covered outdoor orchestra pit, don’t you think?
-
At least I’m only observing tonight, thank God for that much.
-
And I guess that’s it from me for a while!

Here, too. I had yard work to do, but watering was as far as I got.

Here's the latest on the missing check:
Invoiced for $150 on June 14
Check made out on June 25; never arrives
Second check mailed on July 3
Original check arrives on July 6; amount correct
Second check just arrived; amount incorrect.
I am convinced the postman delivered it to the wrong street and the recipient dropped it into a post box to get to the correct person. I have received in June two packages for 202 West 81st, not 202 West 82nd.
-
We have lost power so many times I can't count them all. Some of those homes also lost water along with the power as we had wells.
I think the longest stretch without power & water was the first time we lived in Michigan. We went about a week with power. When we returned to Michigan we purchased a home with city water. It was much easier when the power went out though we would still have to trash most of what was in the frig & freezer.
-
I have memories of eating the ice cream super fast, pure torture ;)
-
I hated losing the heat in the winter, especially when we were afraid the cold would kill the goldfish. It didn't.
-
I have memories of eating the ice cream super fast, pure torture ;)
I'd like to share that pain with you.
-
Listening to The Lightning Thief, which I'm ushering for tonight. Not a bad score, as far as conveying the story goes, but it's busy, a little too much like Cliff's Notes.
-
I have memories of eating the ice cream super fast, pure torture ;)
I'd like to share that pain with you.
;D
-
I wonder if Rick Riordan is going to be in the audience tonight. The man who wrote the Percy Jackson books lives here in San Antonio.
-
DR John I am reading OVERSTORY. Do the stories connect to an event at the end?
-
Bruce I shared something on facebook then tagged you. I hope you see it. If I could figure out how I would have posted it here.
-
Good afternoon (and morning on the West coast).
-
My pity party continued on for the rest of the night.
-
My pity party continued on for the rest of the night.
Sometimes we have them and it is ok.
-
I was still awake at around 5:30.
-
Naturally, that is when I fell into a deep sleep.
-
I awoke at 8:00 a.m. with Nicky yelling in my face.
-
This holiday weekend, the weather is continuing to go down hill.
-
The Fourth was very nice, but yesterday and today, not so much.
-
T.O.D.
The three traumatic events in my life all occurred in the first half of the 1960's.
-
This holiday weekend, the weather is continuing to go down hill.
Is it raining there? It has stopped here.
-
In 1962, we had the infamous Columbus Day storm. The worst part was we didn't even know it was coming. I can remember hearing on the news that evening about this huge wind storm in Oregon, but they never mentioned it was coming here. I went off to the movies and my mom went off to a meeting at church. Suddenly, around eight o'clock, this storm just hit. All the power went out all over the Northwest, trees were falling all over town, and the wind gusts were as high as 100 mph.
-
The owner of the theater wasn't going to let anyone leave until we had gotten hold of our parents to come pick us up. This was our neighborhood theater and we all knew Mr. Spencer and his wife, and they knew all of us. Luckily, just then, my mom stopped at the theater on her way home from church. It was a very scary night, but we had no damage to our home except the garbage can with the garbage in it, blew away.
-
In 1965, we had the big Northwest Earthquake.
-
in between those two natural disasters, we had the Kennedy assassination, which was just as traumatic as the other two events.
-
This holiday weekend, the weather is continuing to go down hill.

it rained last evening. Nothing so far today, but very overcast.
-
The laundry is finished and Thatch and I have been lying in front of the fan. Stella is asleep on a chair, and Annabelle is up in one of her hideaways. I can see her ears.
-
I am feeling very fortunate as I read the stories of the other DRs.
-
BK will love this:
I go to the AccuWeather page, and what do I see “trending”?
People are reporting POOL RIPPLES!!!
-
I quote: “Earthquake causes pool water to ripple.”
You read it here, folks.
-
DR John I am reading OVERSTORY. Do the stories connect to an event at the end?
Yes.
-
Cherry-blueberry pie is in the oven. Dealing with the homemade crust wasn't so bad, but I really do dread lattice-topped pies. They never look good going in the oven and sometimes look worse upon removal. I guess I need one of those tools things that you press down like a giant cookie cutter and it cuts the lattice out for you.
-
Williams Sonoma wants $20 for one. A little much for how little I would use it.
-
Let's move on ...
-
Four!
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep but not all at once, because Grant called and then rang the doorbell at nine-fifteen - he had a company removing the furniture of his late mom's from the back house, as a tenant is moving in there shortly. So, I had to get up and move my car, then I went back to bed at ten.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
On Thursday it felt I'd spained my left wrist and hand, though I had no memory of such. It was improving yesterday, then during the night I woke up with lots of pain! Once I'd ascertained it was a musculoskeletal issue, I treated for that, and was finally able to go back to sleep.
I really need to take it easy today. Even typing is irritating it.
-
Let's just say that I too can relate to TCB's comment about disability. It so frustrating to not be able to do things!
-
Druxy, you and your family were very lucky. Continued vibes for your new challenges.
-
DR Jennifer, I wouldn't give up on those pills just yet. They may need more time. They can only do so much at once--first the knee, then maybe your back. Vibes for more relief.
-
My disaster stories will have to wait. I need to let my left hand rest.
TTFN.

Thanks. Except for the Martian Chronicles I am not a big fan of books that are just short stories. I will continue to read.

Did you take a photo before putting it in the oven? I am curious now to see a before & after. Just after would be ok. I never bake those at all.
-
DR John might a top of cookie cut out shapes work?

I thought you are parking in the garage now.
-
DR John might a top of cookie cut out shapes work?
Yes, but I couldn't find my cookie cutters. THey're somewhere in storage.
-
Started watching Captain Marleau. Fun series. Imagine a French female Columbo.

LOL. You could have designed something ;)

Hmmm, interesting.
-
I need to tell my brother about Captain Marleau. He initially liked Midsomer Murders, which this is based on, before getting disappointed with the scripts.
-
Vibes for Jennifer.
Thank you.
-
We just watched ANNIE GET YOUR GUN w/Betty Hutton and Howard Keel on DVD.
Haven't seen it for almost 20 years.
-
I'm up, I'm up - watched a movie and dozed a LOT.

We are watching the first episode of GOOD OMENS

Hello. From Richmond VA

Thanks. Except for the Martian Chronicles I am not a big fan of books that are just short stories. I will continue to read.
I enjoy short stories, especially Fredric Brown's, as well as other science fiction.
-
We are watching the first episode of GOOD OMENS
I want to watch that. I really like David Tennent...even his non-Doctor Who stuff. ;D
-
Travel vibes for Vixmom!
-
Joao Gilberto has died. Oh, how I love his music.
-
Interesting show tonight. The Lightning Thief followed the novel fairly well, but there was so much exposition that the fun stuff became mere highlights to make room for a couple of uninteresting power ballads and one funny production number in Hades. You practically had to know the book for some of it to make sense. And a couple of performers, especially the Dionysus character, were poorly mic'd. But the sold-out crowd loved every moment of it. Their reactions were genuine, not the phony hoops and hollers that BK laments so often.
-
Towards the end of the show, the Percy Jackson character was about to start a song when the house lights came up and there was an announcement for the actors to leave the stage. Something seemed to be wrong with the lighting. When the problem was fixed. The actor playing Percy walked onstage and said, "As I was saying ..." before launching into his song.
-

Oh, no.

The unwanted entertainment on a cruise. I have been in a few storms. So far we have not missed a port due to a severe storm. We couldn't tender to locations due to high winds even though we were fine on the ship.

That they were all ok was a miracle. It must have been terrifying searching for them.

Yup. I have been in a major earthquake, dealt with major rain storms, driven through scary snow storms, and half slept through a tornado.... but nothing was ever a hard hit where I was.

Yes, I did, but it's been a couple of years, so I don't remember many details.
-
Keith was funny when he mentioned wanting to watch it tonight and seemed very surprised I had read the book. He kept trying to tell me the plot and confirming it was the same.
-
I then went to Goodreads and showed him all of the Neil Gaimen books I have read. I admit at first I forgot Terry Pratchett co-wrote it.

I read it in January and thought it might be too soon to watch. So far it is great, better than I expected from the previews.

Good evening.
-
Tonight I watched a 2006 film on Amazon Prime called EARTHSTORM. It stars Stephen Baldwin and Dirk Benedict, so I won’t comment on the performances. But it was an enjoyable far fetched film about the moon splitting in half, or something like that.
-
That was about it for the day.
-
I fell asleep on and off today, so I don’t know how I will do about sleeping tonight.
-
It doesn’t really matter, because I have no plans for tomorrow.
-
George, are you going to THE PRODUCERS tomorrow. You should really try and see it.
-
Tracy went with her step-mom to see MAMMA MIA tonight. She was supposed to call me when she got home and tell me how she liked it. I guess she forgot.
-
George, are you going to THE PRODUCERS tomorrow. You should really try and see it.
No, I'm not going to be able to. I wanted to, though. I have several things to do tomorrow.

I read a book called Seveneves (https://www.amazon.com/dp/0062190377/) about the moon breaking into seven pieces. It was really good but long...the hardback is 880 pages!
