Well, you've read the notes, the notes had metabolism and it was jogged, and now it is time for you to post until the jogging cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GALVANIZE!
-
First post after BK.
-
Hi, jan. How're things down in Hollywoodland?
-
After the play, I got a couple of things at Haggen's, and then got a little something at McDonald's.
-
I came home, fed my cat, then a friend texted me and we chatted for a while, while I watched Antiques Roadshow.

Today at the Washington Center, there will be a free reading of the redacted Mueller Report, read by a whole bunch of different local actors. It'll be in two parts with a half hour break in betwen the two parts. I'm ushering for the second half and was thinking about going to the first part as a patron. It starts at 1:00 p.m., and including the break, is scheduled to go until 9:00 p.m.

Maybe they'll try the "And one for Mueller" drinking game every time Mueller scores a really good point.
-
I'm surprised that in the world at large, not as many people as I'd thought know the "And one for Mahler" reference. :(
-
BK, thanks for answering the jogging question last night.

TCB - As someone once said, if yesterday was dreary, it's time to say So Long Dreary and make the birthday weekend better.
-
Good morning, all.
-
In a quick stop at the supermarket yesterday I picked up a glazed croissant that was calling my name, because for the past week or so I’d been craving something sweet to enjoy with my coffee in the morning. So I just had it (warmed for a few seconds in the nuker) with my first cup, and it was a little slice of heaven.
I hadn’t indulged that way in quite some time, so it brought back memories of times when I was always doing that, the most notable for me being the years in my little Beverly Hills apartment when I would have bought a dollar bag of donuts at closing time from Stan’s the night before...still the best donut deal of the twentieth century. Those were the days, my friend.
-
It’s a beautiful brisk fall-like morning here, but I have things that must be accomplished indoors. It will at least be lovely to open the windows and air the house out completely through the day.
-
Good morning, all!
-
It was nice to sleep in, and I wouldn't have minded staying there all day, but I have litter to clean, kitties to keep in line (ha!), and little deaths to endure.
-
Annabelle's been bugging me for an hour to patrol.
-
Yes DR TCB I know I'm next....oh my.
Today two friends are taking me to lunch.....I hope to enjoy it.

DR CHAS SMITH's story about his cat and the medicine reminded me of the old story about the farmer.
He went to the vet and told him that his hog was not interested in the girl pigs and he needed him to get busy and start mating....the vet gave him some medicine for the hog. And the results were immediate.
A fellow farmer was visiting and commented on the activity. He asked the farmer what the name of the medicine was. The farmer said: "I don't know, but it tastes like peppermint."
-
TOD:
Ravel: The Bolero. I like the version used in Les Uns et Les Autres
Debussy: Clair de lune....... Mr Van Cliburn played a lovely version of it....

Petite Suite, in either piano solo original or orchestral version
Danses Sacrée et Profane
Suite Bergamasque for piano

Daphnis and Chloé
Piano concerti
L'Enfant et les sortilèges

Good morning, all.

Having a good time out of town. Too much wine, too much food, too much fun.

Anybody know anything about Argo insurance? They’re headhunting me.

I’ll take Elmore’s list, especially the piano concerti, Tzigane and the Valses Nobles et sentimentales.

Just a party animal!

DR JohnG, I have never heard of Argo insurance. If they advertise on TV for old folks, I would surely have heard one by now. What does Google tell you, if anything? Also, are you interested in changing jobs?

Patrol was a little creepy this morning. My neighbor Alice, who's got to be in her late 80's now, may be dying. She's been in poor health for some time, and I have not seen her in over three or four months. Her son is here every day and he always says she's doing fine, and I know she has a visiting nurse. Usually, when we do our patrol on the first floor, the only sounds I hear from the apartment are voices speaking in Spanish - Alice was my neighbor who lived through that dreadful Puerto Rico hurricane several years ago - but this morning the only sounds coming from the apartment were a high pitched whine, like a dog in pain, at very close intervals.
It freaked Annabelle out and certainly spooked me. I'm worried that they're sitting death watch, and that saddens me. Alice is a wonderful lady.
-
I must go to market, and then I have to deal with kitty rambunction, if such a word does exist. In their play they've misplaced a large scratching board that should be sitting by all logic under the foot of my bed. Well, it isn't. This is as puzzling as the day I came home to find the toilet seat 3/4 off the toilet base. I do not know how they do it.

I must have missed out on those deals at Stan's :o :)

DR TCB I just hope you are feeling better. We don't have to be home for our yearly fire test as long as management has a key. Maybe next year you can work something out more suitable for you. We also are told which building they will begin with.
-
Happy 30th birthday to the nephew of DR TCB.

DR Jennifer I see you read THE FIRST GIRL CHILD already. That was fast. The release date was only 2 days ago. My library doesn't have an ebook. I might have to purchase this one.
I had an advanced copy, which I normally would have read earlier. I love this author. But I don't love fantasy, which is probably why I put it off this long.

This morning we learned our granddog Yogi passed away yesterday afternoon at home with the assistance from a veterinarian. We have been expecting this for almost a year now, still, it is very sad news. Yogi was 9 days shy of 14. Found on the steps of Craig's apartment building in Bucharest, Romania at 4 weeks of age, Yogi & Craig had a very special bond.
I am glad Craig was able to find a vet to go to Yogi. It does make it easier :'(

I'm up, I'm up - five and a half hours of sleep. My calf cramped during a dream - hate when that happens. But, if I do the five-mile walk I'm sure I'll work it out.

I am glad you enjoyed it once you read it. It there a time frame you are expected to read advance copies & review them?

DR JohnG,
Also, are you interested in changing jobs?
It'd strange these days with pretty much zero job loyalty either way expected as a norm. You can see on "linkedin" how often people job hop. And it was strange to see the mostly-wonderful Kamala Harris actually seeming not see people staying in one place for decade or more as not using opportunities in her health insurance talks ( her view being not letting your health insurance be tied to where you work) , almost not getting that so many people are working to pay the rent and bills, fulfillment is secondary.
And it's always good to know how much you're worth.

It's always sad to hear of that, but good it worked out for the best in the end.

Horrible, spooky, and sad. That has to be most unsettling.

I think it’s seven-year itch. Plus, I’ve done this job for more than two years and it’s time I was paid for it.
And it’s always nice to be wanted. The job they’re going to talk with me about is two levels above my current one.
-
Mega job vibes DR John.
-
Same for you DR elmore.

I am on the treadmill walking very slowly.

Well, then, best of luck with the interview! I wish I had somebody wanting to hire me.

I am now a physical wreck. I decided that I had to seriously tackle the roach problem now that I had a (hopefully) pet-safe pesticide. I worked from 12:30-3:00, sprinkling poisoned boric acid, vacuuming the space before I laid out the pesticide and then vacuuming the spill into areas the cats might get to, moving furniture, moving cartons of books, standing, kneeling, and now every joint aches. I can barely move.
I think I will take a hot bath after I feed the babies in 15 minutes.
-
No sign yet of the missing scratching board, but Annabelle has just begun jumping onto me to let me know she is up from her 5-hour nap and ready for dinner.
-
Back from a light breakfast - I know, wasn't going to do it, but I couldn't do the walk because of my sore calf, so... Then went to Amoeba to kill some time, then picked up packages, now home.

180%! And hopefully going to infinity and beyond because I got a very dispiriting note from Indiegogo last night - it only took them eight days to respond. Since December of last year, their policy is to not only take their fees, but to hold 5% of the funds for - SIX MONTHS. They say it makes it easy on us to do chargebacks and/or refunds. Well, in all my Indiegogo campaigns I have never ONCE had either occur. I told them they really have no right to hold MY money for six months, especially as I'll be shipping all the perks as soon as the funds hit the bank. I asked for a supervisor to look at us specifically and said if someone has never had these problems they should not be punished because others have. So, what were already big fees, they're now going to withhold even more - six months from now who cares? I need all of it NOW to, you know, bring the project to fruition. So, I'm really going to push the campaign as hard as I can and if we're miraculous enough to get to 200%, which I'm hoping we will be, I'm then going to try and push us a bit beyond that so we can actually clear what we need.
-
Congrats on the 180%!! And WTH with the withholding of funds?? That's terrible! >:(

The bath was very warm and very welcome. Stella sat on the edge of the tub to lick my wet shoulder and hand. She's fascinated by the water but after falling in one day and my washing off that pesticide she got into the next day, she's no longer behaving as if she will jump in to play with me.
Annabelle sat on the toilet seat and observed. They all liked their dinner.

Well, I decided not to watch the first part of the reading of the redacted Mueller Report as a patron. I just decided to be lazy. I'm still going to officially usher this afternoon, so I'll see the second half. And I have some coupons and gift cards for some local eating establishments, so I'll go somewhere to eat before I go downtown to usher, so I better fet started (late, as it is) on my day.
Until later!

They are. Craig sacrificed a lot for Yogi.

It was very welcome, and I took a Tizanidine. I should feel no pain very shortly.

Back from Hugo's and lunch with Peyton and her mom - I had the barbecue turkey sandwich, which is reasonable, calorie-wise, especially as I didn't have the fries, but a salad, which I didn't even touch.
-
Listening to music now.
-
Whilst at Amoeba I got a few 2.99 CDs - composers I don't know, but that looked interesting.
-
Just finishing up re-listening to all the Andre Cluytans-conducted albums of Ravel - for me, they are definitive. He did a mono set, too, but the later stereo performances are even better.
-
. He did a mono set, too, but the later stereo performances are even better.
That was part of a Rodney Dangerfield joke, IIRC. I think it was: (paraphrasing)
"Morality today is terrible. You know my doctor - Dr. Vinnie Boombatz. He told me he had three cases of mono and four cases of syphilis last week. He's doing OK now, though."
-
I'm at the show, counting people as they come into the theater. Since it's now the second half, just about everyone has already been counted. I'm just counting very late comers, or more than likely, people who got something during the break (4:00-4:30) and are just now coming back and I don't know that they were here before...which is fine.
-
Each reader is reading for a half hour, then the next person picks up where the last person left off. They do finish sentences...they don't have to stop at EXACTLY one half hour of reading. ;)
-
I don't think they'll get to the end of the whole report, so I don't know how they'll end the evening. After it's over, they said that people can go to a local wine bar for a post-show discussion.

I usually try to read and review before release date. This one I only started reading on release date. But at least I had my review a few days later.

I almost forgot...I was able to take a picture of the set from last night's outdoor Tempest. The tower is a permanent structure at the waterfront, so that's not what the theater company created. They're just using it to their advantage.

Nice set DR George.
-
Facebook showed me my memories from last year of the polar bear we saw. That means today is the one year anniversary of when I broke my elbow ;D
-
Nice set DR George.
I agree. They used the tower pretty effectively. They even had some scenes way at the top. Except for one young (inexperienced) woman, pretty much everyone else could be heard. They didn't use microphone at all.

Kai Winding. Strange album, but one I had when I was in college.

Grammy Jane, have you had more injuries since then?
-
FOUR!!
-
Well, they're getting close to the end of Volume I. They're not going to go into Volume II, at all. I don't know if they hoped to get into Vol. II or not, but it'll end fairly soon.
-
I'm glad they're ending soon because I'm pretty hungry! Margo and I are going to a local restaurant, so that'll be good. :)
-
Spent the day running around running errands
-
Ran into the mom of a girl that was in Gymboree with the Vixter when the girls were 2, they also attended our church ( though their family lapsed into holidays only after their youngest was confirmed) and the girls went all through school together
Never really friends, but friendly acquaintances, if you know what I mean
-
We ended up in adjoining chairs getting pedicures today. Hadn't seen each other since the high school graduation (8 years ago? Is that possible?!)
-
It was nice hearing what the kids were up to now
-
I had some pork chops marinating all day for tonight's dinner
-
But I brought home Five Guys for lunch and we were so full we never had dinner
-
So I guess the pork chops will be our Sunday dinner now
-
Traffic around town was very snarled up today
-
The storm the Thursday night took down a number of trees and power lines and the mess was still being dealt with today with a number of main roads closed down
-
I am having trouble keeping my eyes open
-
With every good intention, I started watching Last Year at Marienbad. I made it through all ninety-two minutes - unfortunately I was asleep. :)
-
One of these days.
-
I had a donut and a half. And now I am truly nauseous.
-
Popping Pepcids and sipping ginger ale.
-
And listening to music.
-
Grammy Jane, have you had more injuries since then?
Nothing serious thank goodness.
-
I am still dealing with this hip pain that started yesterday. I have had the problem on and off for years, often barely able to move. It is already improving and I haven't had to skip my walks so I am pleased.
-
To my shock I was just able to practically fly out of bed to walk a cramp out.
I really didn't know I was capable of doing that ;D

DR TCB how are you this evening?
-
I'm home and the dinner was delish! We went to a place called State & Central. It's literally on the corner of...wait for it...State and Central, on the east side of Olympia. :)
-
Good evening.
-
Page 4? Still?
-
Hi, George.
-
I am feeling better this evening.
-
This is MOST unseemly.
-
MOST.
-
This is Donny MOST unseemly.
-
Page five? Really?
-
My condolences on the passing of Yogi to Craig, and to you and Keith.
-
This is MOST unseemly.
What is most unseemly?
-
Impressive set, George. The first time I did THE TEMPEST, we had a mountain centerstage. A real mountain.
-
Hi, George.
Hi, Tom.
-
I am feeling better this evening.
Good news!
-
We had a very large Prospero, but he was still able to climb the mountain.
-
I’m just glad I didn’t have to build out that set.
-
Unseemly? Really?
-
Impressive set, George. The first time I did THE TEMPEST, we had a mountain centerstage. A real mountain.
It certainly was more impressive in person than the picture can show.
-
I went to Jimmy John’s (my first time), and I decided on a tuna sandwich. The eight inch sub didn’t sound big enough for two meals, so I got the 16 inch sub.
-
When I ran the sound board for a production a few years ago, it was all on one level...no mountain at all, just a couple of blocks. It was otherwise all pretty effective.
-
You will notice that I added “sub” after both inches, so keep your mind out of the gutter.
-
It was actually one of the best tuna sandwiches I have ever had.
-
I couldn’t think of anything else that sounded good.
-
I gave Nicky his medicine this afternoon, so he has been hiding under the bed all evening.

DR TCB I just hope you are feeling better. We don't have to be home for our yearly fire test as long as management has a key. Maybe next year you can work something out more suitable for you. We also are told which building they will begin with.
Management does not have a copy of my key. In fact, no one has a copy of my key.
-
I need to get some copies made.
-
I also need to contact an alarm company about installing burglar alarms on my doors and windows.
-
Has anyone herefamiliar with the term, “swatting?”

I'd gone to a local Jimmy Johns, but lately there are calls to boycot them...Calls to boycott Jimmy John's resurface over elephant photo with sandwich chain's founder (https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/food/2019/08/23/jimmy-johns-boycott-2019-calls-boycott-over-elephant-photo/2097880001/). But it's not a simple story. This article goes into that.

Where's the fun in that?? ;)
-
Huh, the sandwich didn’t taste like elephant.
-
Four pages at ten-thirty - yes, Donny MOST unseemly I should say and therefore did :)

Yes. :-\

At three o’clock this morning, in a suburb of Seattle, police broke into a home armed with assault weapons and shields. They had received a telephone call from a crisis hotline saying that I man had called and said he just raped and murdered his family at that address.

Oh, my goodness! :o
-
Of course, they found a woman and two small children very much alive. It is apparently the latest prank sweeping the country.
-
Very sick! And very dangerous?
-
I guess they knocked, rang the bell, and pounded on the door but the woman had slept thru it all.

Yikes! Did the police break in?
-
12:04 am, and page 6.

I guess so, I am a bit vague on that part.

12:04 am, and page 6.
Whew!
-
Anyway, the police expected to find a bloodbath.
-
Someone is going to end up dead with this prank, if they haven’t already.
-
I suppose the prankster made the whole thing seem more genuine by calling the crisis line knowing they would call the police immediately.
-
I am listening to the OBC of RAGTIME.

I found this article on KIRO's website: Seattle police use registry to help people protect themselves from swatting (https://www.kiro7.com/news/local/seattle-police-use-registry-to-help-people-protect-themselves-from-swatting/976495729).

I have it on my Amazon Music on my iPad.
