Well, you've read the notes, the notes gave 216%, and now it is time for you to post until the non-laboring cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EXTEMPORIZE!
-
And a happy birthday to dear reader Ron Pulliam who hasn't been around these here parts in a 'coon's age.
-
First post after BK.
-
BK, I really worry about you using Throat Coat in this very warm weather. I would be more comfortable if you would stick to Throat Windbreaker.
-
And I am out of here. Good night.

No groaning, of course! ::)

Why I oughta...
-
Listening to more Jean-Michel Damase - I may just do a CD of his public domain stuff - we can make it sound great. He also has two operettas that are great and available to me - so tuneful.
-
I just got notice that the DVD of Kathy Griffin: A Hell of a Story (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VSJJZ5R/) that I pre-ordered will be delivered on Tuesday! :D
-
I saw it in the theaters on July 31 and it was fantastic...in my humble opinion.
-
Well, I'm sleepy, so it's off to bed I go.
Have a labor-less and Happy Labor Day, all! :D
-
Hello
-
Yesterday disappeared quickly
-
I was so tired after my day in the city that I slept right through my alarm and missed church
-
I Imagine they all struggled on without me
-
But I was scheduled for altar guild, communion assistant and coffee hour
-
Nobody was concerned enough about my absence to call to see if I was ok
-
Not even my mother
-
when I finally woke up , after 10 ( I’m usually up before 7). I wen5 for egg sandwiches
-
Then I spent the day Going Through Stuff.
-
Sorting into
1. send to the Vixter
2 send to someone else
3. Give to goodwill, or savers
4 give to church
5 keep
4 throw out
-
In the late afternoon Vixdad offered to take me to our favorite crepe place
-
So we had a nice drive and lunch
-
We had cafe au laits and he had his favorite ham and cheese crepe
I had portobello mushrooms, roasted red peppers and gruye cheese in mine
-
Then back home for more sorting
-
Finally around 9 we decided we were hungry again so I made a late dinner of chicken apple sausages and eggs and beans and hot tea
-
Then we watched 2 more episodes of The Boys on AmazonPrime
-
Well I assume Vixdad watched 2
-
I watched one and a bit of the next episode but I blinked and suddenly it was 3:30 am and the house was dark
-
I tried vainly to go back to sleep for 2 hours and finally came here
-
But my eyes are getting heavy again so I’ll give sleep another chance

T.O.D.
Working for myself as a publicist; also working for Roger Corman as a screenwriter/director.
Why?
Because the only "pressure" was from me. I could work at my own speed; own hours; own way, just so I "delivered the goods" successfully and on schedule.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Last night I tried 2 Advil PM. I slept soundly for about 2.5 hours, then woke up and could not get back to sleep. I was quire restless because i could not find a comfortable position because of the pains in my hip and legs. I dozed on and off until 5:00, at which time Stella started biting my toes. 6:30 could not come soon enough.
-
I got up, fed the cats, but neither Stella nor Annabelle would eat. I said to hell with it and went back to bed.
-
Best job: Miami University Library, 1970-71, the year after I finished my M.A. One of the best jobs with the best boss I ever worked for, Helen Ball.
Worst job: Office Outfitters, 1973-77, driving a delivery truck and hating every other minute of it. The manager, Jim Ashcraft, was a good boss, but the owner was a complete ass.
-
Annabelle wants to patrol.
-
congrats on 216% and vibes for even MORE!
-
Today is a ME day.....everyone else has to learn lines for PICNIC, but the director doesn't...although I seem to know most of them anyway.
Tomorrow is the first day OFF book, although several folks have been trying for a few days now.
I saw some of the lighting yesterday which looked okay....and the costumes are nice....so we are moving forward.
-
I have liked most of my jobs.....I shall have to think about the TOD.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Trying not to get up.
-
Busy day ahead. And i wish it weren’t.
-
I have loved aspects of most jobs I’ve had. And then I didn’t. I was glad to lose the job at the newspaper here in San Antonio because I had really stopped loving it.
I think my most favorite job was working as a seasonal worker at Barnes and Noble because I was in a bookstore.
-
TOD
The one I have now

I liked working at Barnes & Noble, too. Our manager Patty was one of the best bosses I worked for.
-
Annabelle and I have not patrolled yet. I don't think we will. After cleaning the litter, I was in so much pain from the stretching and lifting that I needed a lie down, and of course I had to make the bed first.
-
I was so tired after my day in the city that I slept right through my alarm and missed church
Good for you getting the sleep you needed.
-
Not even my mother
;D Maybe they knew you needed to rest.
-
I went to sleep last night around 11:30 & was shocked when I opened my eyes to find it was 5:55.
Correction. Keith has informed me I got up at 5:00, not almost 6:00. No wonder I am still very tired.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Started the day by marking up my "Mermaid" book.
Next I have to record the Kick Line from "Cabaret" for a rehearsal tomorrow night.
And then I believe I can, and shall, relax for the rest of the livelong day.
-
I honestly don't recall having a job I actively disliked. There were a few periods in which I had to report to someone I didn't prefer to report to, but those worked out okay in the end.
I'd guess the very best job was the last one which had me working at home and reporting to headquarters in Dallas. Carrollton, to be exact. The owners of the company were exceptional people, and I couldn't have asked for a nicer arrangement. So, throughout my thirty-year history with the same basic company that changed hands a few times, I can name that one as my favorite.

TOD:
It's interesting that Bruce is asking this question today because I just got a new job offer on Wednesday! I've been looking to change departments where I work, and I've been applying and interviewing for the past 10 months. The job I have now started out as probably the best job I've ever had, but it's changed in the past five years and now I'm miserable. I think this new job will be a much better fit for me. I'm a Business Systems Analyst, which I recognize tells you nothing about what I do. Suffice it to say, "it's complicated".

DR Amy, super good vibes your new job is everything you want.
-
May I just say that this is a damned chilly Labor Day?
Of course you never know what you're going to get on one of these summer holiday weekends, and I have known other gray and cold ones. The surprise one was in Chicago, following a hot summer, when a bunch of us had an enjoyable but chilly cookout and retreated to the indoors for the rest of the afternoon.
We had no plans here today. Kristi and Nathan are off to see some movie, and I'm perfectly happy staying indoors and savoring my last real day off for a while.
-
I stepped out to run the errands I've been postponing since Saturday. I walked to Broadway in a light rain, realized I had forgotten the mail I wanted to post, and thought, I'll run my errands tomorrow on my way to the doctor.
-
I'm up, I'm up - about nine hours of sleep, I think.
-
Page three? Really?
-
You'd think this was a holiday or something.
-
Got an amusing e-mail from Indiegogo telling me our campaign is in its final 72 hours and we might want to do a final push. Really? I had NO idea.
-
This made me laugh today!
-
Didn't have time to go out for food, so made about three ounces of pasta I had in a box (I'd made the rest previously) with butter and cheese. I'll get something else after the play reading.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Happy Birthday to DR Ron!
I hope all is well and you drop in and chat with us.
-
Yesterday I watched UNITED, the British film about the plane crash in 1958 that decimated the Manchester United soccer team. It was quite good.
-
I seldom take holidays as do-nothing days, because it just means more to do later. I would, however, love a string of do-nothing days.
-
I went to the nearby salad bar/soup bar/sandwich bar/juice bar/mini green grocer for lunch. Their salad bar is quite extensive. Today I spotted "Mashed Potato Salad," something I'd never heard of. I tried a bit and it was very good. I'll buy it again if I see it again.
-
It's gotten hot here--88 degrees, plus dew points in the mid-60s. This is quite warm for us and everyone's complaining. We only had a couple days of 86-87 previous to today, so a relatively cool summer. But the complaints! It'll be hot all week, but I do hope that's the end of it.
-
Job vibes to DR Amy! I hope you find something you're very happy with.
-
Jane, I'm reading a book that may interest you. It's DYNAMIC AGING by Katy Bowman. I was interested in her book KATY SAYS, but it was out of print at that time and I couldn't find an affordable copy. That book is now back in print, but DYNAMIC AGING is really more what I was looking for.
According to Ms Bowman, even people who get a lot of exercise aren't really getting enough. She makes a distinction between exercise and movement, and feels we all need to move more. She also says we need to move differently--not just the same exercise over and over. She recommends a series of stretches that look quite easy, but work areas of our bodies that tend to be underexercised. I just started the book, so I can't report of progress one way or another. But I'm certainly anxious to give it a try.
-
Congrats to BK on his Indiegogo success!

MEGA VIBES FOR THE LAST HOURS OF THE INDIEGOGO CAMPAIGN!
-
Birthday wishes to Ron P!!!
-
DR Vixmom has the Vixter settled in for the duration yet?
-
Thanks for the Indiegogo reminder. There was something I'd thought I wanted, and now I decided I wanted it.
-
Good.

And then I believe I can, and shall, relax for the rest of the livelong day.
I read that first sentence as "making up my mermaid look"

Happy birthday, Ron!

And a happy birthday to dear reader Ron Pulliam who hasn't been around these here parts in a 'coon's age.
And that 'coon is gray and feeble, I must say. Happily, I'm still spritely and had quite the weekend, with birthday meals Friday evening, Saturday at noon and a family cookout yesterday afternoon.
To any and all who wish me greetings, thank you from the ventricles of my heart.
To any who wonder if I had dropped off the face of the earth, the answer is "Not quite yet". I hope to regale you all with parsnips of gossip (parssips, as it were) of goings-on and doin's in the county of Edgefield in the town of Johnston in the near future.
It's rather like Mary Worth. If you haven't read the strip in the past 40 years, it is "later that same day".
Sigh.
-
Great to see you, Ron!

Had an excellent Labor Day dinner. My friends Pam and Cecil hosted. He smoked pork tenderloin and beef tenderloin wrapped in bacon and topped with an amazing bearnaise sauce. I made a Neptune Dip with shrimp and a tiny bit of lobster in it as well as a sardine dip, which only the men ate. It was quite good. Maureen brought a salad. Pam made a peach custard pie for dessert as well as an angel food cake using the whites from the eggs used in the bearnaise.

What he said. ;)

I actually got some of the house cleaned today. Not enough, but it was a start.
-
Happy Birthday, Ron P.
We miss you around here. I always enjoyed your Christmas trips home and the reports you would give. I was hoping we'd get reports once you moved home.
-
I wish it was 88 degrees here.

MEGA VIBES FOR THE LAST HOURS OF THE INDIEGOGO CAMPAIGN!
~~~SUPER DITTO!!~~~
Also finished an excellent book called Stoner by John Williams. It started out a little depressing, but the book proved quite surprising. Very touching tale of a man leading a life of largely of quiet desperation yet filled with those moments that make a life worth living.
-
Starting to watch Cat Ballou, which I haven't seen in ages.
-
Gratuitous post No. 100!
220%!!! :D
Going to have to finish this tomorrow.
Good night, all.
Before you go, John, you've reached a momentous millstone!! :D
Yes, 220%!!!
Rehearsal was a little rough, but fun, and the play reading went really well, actually. It played much better than it read, but then I don't much like reading plays.
I've read the scripts of, and been cast in, a few plays that were supposed to be funny, but I couldn't "read" the funny. Once I was with the cast and heard everything acted out, even at the first read-through, they really were funny!
-
DR Ron it was great having you stop by today. Yes, you are missed here.
I placed a hold on it at my library. It seems to be a popular book.
Thanks Jeanne. It sounds interesting.
I am a great believer in movement. Unfortunately I can no longer do most of the stretches I used to do. I still make sure to move as often as possible and am curious what she suggests.
One of the reasons I did water zumba was for the movement and a change in my normal routine.
-
For some strange reason I missed all of DR Jeanne's posts on page 3. Feeling as if I arrived at page 4 too quickly I re-read page 3. I am glad I did.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
I'd only had time to make the three ounces of pasta with butter for a snack, so after the play reading I went to Taco Bell and got their new triple double crunchwrap supreme - it was very good. And two crunchy tacos, of course.
-
What is a crunchwrap?
Yes, it has both kinds of tortillas in it.
Good evening.
-
Belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to DR Ron!!
You are truly missed.
-
I lived it up today for dinner(?).
-
I went up to Panda Express, and I went through the drive-thru.
-
All day I have been following, with horror, the fire on the dive boat just off shore from L.A. The new death toll is 25, but I am sure it will end up at 34.
-
I went up to Panda Express, and I went through the drive-thru.
I love Panda Express, but there isn't one down here that has a drive-thru. I usually get the Kung Pau Chicken and the Black Pepper Chicken. :)
:o I haven't been watching/reading any news, so I hadn't heard anything.
:(
The 33 passengers and one of the crew members were asleep in their bunks below deck when the boat was consummated by fire. The other five crew members were up on deck and jumped overboard.
They were out for a weekend of scuba diving. Three of them were celebrating their birthdays.
Oh, no. That's terrible.
I found this article about the boat:
At least 8 dead, dozens unaccounted for after boat catches fire near Santa Cruz Island (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/more-30-people-distress-boat-near-santa-cruz-island-coast-n1048811?cid=par-xfinity_20190903).
